1998 Ford Ranger -Front and rear speaker install

Hey everybody! In this episode, I install some Kicker 5 1/4" speakers in the Ranger. Crutchfield makes it easy with wire harness and speaker adapters. It really is a job that anyone can do. We will see you on the next one... Easy.

Make sure you get the flat rectangular speaker adapters, not the roundish square ones for the 98.
Mine needed these adapters:

The 4 pack on Amazon was only 11.99 and worked great.
I also purchased the speaker adapters to fit the OEM speaker size:

you will need screws to mount the speakers to the adapters. I used bolts that "threaded" into the plastic. You can then use the OEM screws to secure back to the truck. I used SS M5 x .8 screws to hold the speakers into the adapters. Mine were 20mm long, but that's what I had, they could be shorter.

Thank you for making this video! I have a 98 Ranger XLT. The passenger door speaker has been having some issues. It only works on occasion and when it does it only works for a few minutes at a time then goes silent with some crackling etc. Thanks for listing the parts with links to make this job so much easier.

Nice job on the install, I upgraded my door ones but not my rears on my ‘99 Ranger XLT regular cab. Guess I’ll be doing that next. ☺️
