my prob is the buggie starter turns over but when the sionoid buzzes not clicks i unplug the plug by the silonoid and plug back in it will let the fuelpump kick back on and still wont run any info or ?'s please ask thanks Bob..

I have a cbr 900rr 97 bike runs great I don't have the battery cables bolted down but evertimw I take cables off it runs then runs dead is it the battery or could it be cause they ain't bolted down and not enuff connection?

I'm late on here, I have kymco xciting 500, it was running fine all these days but I parked it because is been cold these days, I came back to start it after a couple of days it won't start at all, all I hear is a clicking noise close to the battery, I'm going crazy right now I really need help to figure out what is wrong with it
What would make the starter motor keep running after the bike starts and the start button is released? And why would it not quit turning the starter after the key was shut off. Mine just did that yesterday. Now it won't start but it clicks when the button it pushed.
If everything is hooked up right then the relay is sticking and needs to be replaced.
I have a benelli tnt 25, and i think i have a power drain in the 2 wires that come out of the ignition switch, so please tell me, does those 2 wires have current ( read 13.2 volts )...... A plus, when i connect my battery, the dashboard lights up briefly, is this a normal operation of the system, or do i have a short circuit?
One wire has current, from the battery...once the starter relay moves it gives power to the other side...

Yes doing new bike to me, my relay clicks...
Tested the continuity to the starter button plus stop start red button.
My starter were with 12v independent power.
You should have 12v+ at the positive side of the starter relay with 30amp fuse.

i have a 250 sxf and the battery drains within a few hours.you can hear the fuel pump start up every now and again while its parked up.any ideas of what would be doing this?
Hard to say but if possible look at the wire diagram to see all the components. You may be able to disconnect them one at a time to see what is powering up when it should not.
9929 RR will not start I have done everything new battery new plugs and coil packs tested had rectifier and stator put in all the fuses I'm looking at relays been looking at the relays and I don't know what to do if you could help contact me back thank you

Can a faulty starter relay create a condition where there is no power to the bike? My battery is fully charged, and the main fuse is good. Both checkout with my multimeter. I did not I tested the starter relay for continuity and volts, so I’m thinking the problem lies elsewhere. Thoughts?

The manual I'm using doesn't say but do you know if a 2014 Honda XR650L starter relay has a fuse in it? There's a fuse slot but it doesn't feel like it's making any contact so I ask myself what's the purpose of having that there. Anyway, I have a clicking noise but no start, took out the starter just for the hell of it and tested it and it works fine any help would be the greatest help I could ever receive. 🤙
Yes, there should be a main fuse and a spare fuse. The spare fuse sits in the fuse box like the others but has no contacts it plugs into. Since you tested the starter motor you may have a bad starter relay.
@@Cyclepedia I even jumped it from the starter to the battery and got nothing, I also jumped across the starter relays terminals and it wouldnt do anything, please something anything you can do
My drz 400 fuse is burned. Bike is runing for 5 seconds then dies, and bogging.
You may need to look for a short or wiring issue especially if you replace the fuse and it blows again.
Legend. I wouldn't of known that my moped had another fuse if it wasnt for this video. Thankyou sir
We bypassed the ignition on a Kawasaki 650 ninja when I cut the bike on it turns right back off it won’t stay on

Maybe you can help me 2014 Honda FROZA 300 will not start pushing the Starter button, but when you jump the solenoid, the motor would start up and runs fine. This problem was it intermittent for a while, but now it doesn’t start at all. I have to continuously lift the seat up and jump the starter. I have power to the ignition switch all the way down to the solenoid. Also, the kickstand has to be up and the break has to be held to start. Any ideas would help Rob.

Start with fresh fuel, fully charged battery and make sure all periodic maintenance items are good. What is the bike in question?
I have a 2011 Fz8. I also have an intermittent error code 20 which means the atmospheric sensor and air pressure sensor values differ greatly when the key is turned. I thought the weak start was being caused by the error code but I have gotten a weak start even when the code doesn’t come on
At 1:01 what is that red thing called that connects the the switch?
That is the main fuse cover/plug from the wire harness.

I have a 2004 yamaha r1. When I turn the key to start i have no power. The starter relay connections look corroded. Could that be my problem. Should I buy a new relay?

I just got a zx10r 2016 700miles. The owner before me put about the same on it. He flashed it "I am not a fan of flashing" when I turn the key on it hums but it doesn't stop is that normal? Yours didn't hum did it? I hate this BS flashing. I had a r1 never flashed tuned correct and I walked a supra. Don't belive go look no flash.. I just put my bike away for the winter, and I was using the battery for something, so I had it taken apart, but when I was putting it back together, firstly, I noticed it wouldn't start, as it was electric start only, then I noticed a 7.5 amp fuse wire, this connected directly into the battery, but I noticed it was completely loose, like it was plugged into nothing, could anyone help me on where this is supposed to go? It is also formed to the bike with mud on it so I know it's not just some random cable, also, its a 2015 klx 140L

If starter relay is not working will that also prevent all lights from turning on?
No it should not prevent the lights from turning on, depending on the machine some starter relays have the main fuse in them. If the main fuse is blown then that would stop all power, keep in mind you will need to find out why the main fuse is blown if you replace it and it blows right away and make sure to use the correct fuse.

I I was fed up and just began putting everything back together turn key over just one last time and lights came on it even turned on. So far good . Maybe i have a bad ground or something

Are the cables hooked up properly? From battery to starter? I have seen switches fail like that especially cheap replacements.

If the engine turns over when the key is turned then the starter relay is good. Check to see if you have any fuses that could be blown.

My Honda Magna is not giving me anything, no lights, no iginition, nothing. Could it be the ignition relay? Battery is good, rectifier is good.

Yes, It was the ignition switch. But it was hard to find out. I had to strip the whole bike, and test cable by cable. If you want to test if it is your ignition just disconnected it. And test your connectors in the inside that casing the goes straight into the wire harness. Use a long cable with Crocodile ends. Connect one end to the positive of your battery and test the connector inside the casing one by one ( There should be three ). Your bike should light up when you touch the right one. If it lights up then it's time to replace your ignition switch.
Remember!! Your battery should be connected to the system. Positive and negative. Ride on!!!
I'm getting lights on my dash of a 83 Honda nighthawk cb550sc but starter button is not working starter solenoid has been tested and is good. I'm lost on this. Starter works if I jump the starter solenoid.
NICE! you dont know how long I searched that simple troubleshooting tip!! Had similar experience. Road a track day, then various stops along the the way home. Stopped at friends hm.turned of bike enjoyed the eve and when I went out to start it ...nothing. Tore bike apart testing everything. Honda VFR.

Have a 2008 rhino turn the key nothing , replaced ignition switch started running , back fired a few time when step on gas turn off , now nothing turn key no light on dash ,, nothing ,, check power to switch power good , have no idea , check all fuses , any idea ,,
I would check over the harness and electrical system for any damage or shorts.
As long as the rest of the electrical system is in working order then yes only the electric start would not work but the bike should run using the kick starter.

What is the actual values of high and low currents in Amperes? For example the value of current to the solenoid coil
I just replaced my starter & starter relay solenoid, checking wires & fuses. My 01 ZX9R is trying to start up whenever I touch the positive cable to the battery🤯it does it with the key in the off position, relay connected or disconnected, start switch on or off. Out of ideas, please help
Sounds like the cables are wrong, you must have battery voltage going straight to the starter motor.
That’s exactly the issue but I checked the cables from the starter to the solenoid, solenoid to battery & all. I figure the solenoid is stuck but I’ve ran through 4 solenoids in the past months so I’m trying to find the culprit that’s causing the solenoids to malfunction. All my wires, cables & connections look good
@@YungCountry1 Are you using a Kawasaki relay or an aftermarket brand. I have had this problem when using cheap relays.

Usually when this happens the cables on the starter relay are installed backwards or the relay is stuck closed. In either situation the battery voltage is going directly to the starter motor from the battery and bypassing the starter button/starter circuit.
Can this cause a battery drain ? And horrible whine noise from starter intermitent? My battery get drain8ng and even a new battery drained after 10 days of no use in 20 degree c temp!
I fitted a new s solenoid this morn and yad to modify one terminal as it is aftermarket . .the starter wire side i had to drill the hole out and file the side of the terminal..when fitted and new battery charged again it started instantly,then 2nd then a 3rd the whining again but,it started? I feel it is a shit s motor as it is off ebay and my old one never had 1 problem!
No, you have a key off draw somewhere most likely and something wearing out in the starter motor/system depending on what vehicle.

I noticed my reg plug is fried from the primary coil loom. The reg is newish aswell but a cheap reg ...one yellow wire had melted to the reg terminal . Also changed the starter as was v noisey clunking etc .. i will do a wire repair and mofset reg on order with wire mods straight to battery mod..
This is an old vid but lets see if anyone reply's . Mine usually starts fine however some days like today when i tried to start it to go home it would just click.. ITs done that since day 1. its a year old. I have replaced the battery, tightened all wires. the only thing I havent done is replaced the starter relay. Do you think that would solve the problem? Like i said, it doesnt do it all the time, just win it feels like pissin me off ...lol

Is the battery fully charged? A weak battery will do this.
I was using jumping cables with my car running. The car has a brand new battery too.

Hi I have a problem with my dashboard going dead. When I take out the fuse in the starter motor and replace it all the display comes back. Then when riding the bike it cuts out again doing my head in anyone help
Sounds like you might have a loose connection or short somewhere.

Which is it Solenoid or starter ? The ticking sounds like the Solenoid
Your relay can click if it's getting voltage but without positive connection (due to corrosion it a break in the connection) that's all it will do. There are videos on resting starter solenoids/relays if you have a multimeter to check the resistance.

My bike doesnt start.. starter relay clicks... starter motor no joy... i check Voltage reading batt to relay, all gd, relay to starter motor gd... tried the screw driver trick no spark... what may be the prob? I check Ohm reading from relay to starter motor ots jumpy... does this tells me relay is faulty or motor is faulty?

Main fuse size can vary by model.
I was having that kind of problem with my cbr600rr. The bike cannot turn on after i put the key one it and turn it on. All indicator on the dashboard is active but cannot start the bike.
So i do my check with the fuse etc... it has no problem on it.
Finally i got the main problem with my cbr600r 2010. the connector from the key house was rusted and after cleaning it. Now the bike has no problem. btw, the connector place close to the tank in the right side. You need to open the right fairing to get to the connector. It is brown

@@Cyclepedia Same problem on a 2014 Honda CRF250L: the battery reads 12V, none of the fuses appear to be blown, but the dash is dead. This occurred after stalling the bike in a parking lot. Battery tender alternates between flashing red and flashing green.
@@chinngis83 Have you checked for loose connections? Make sure the battery is hooked up correctly as well

I have a international 4300 it won’t crank to start I didn’t let the gauge cycle I just stared the truck up instantly and it was about to start and half way stopped I got tech out and checked everything and nothing I got a spn 1081 fmi 9 code

Usually when that happens the relay switch is stuck or hooked up backwards.
