Just traded in all my Canon gear - including a 5dMk3 and bought an Xpro2. I love it. Still learning how to use it, but the results are exactly what I am looking for.
Had the XPRO2 about three years now and by far most favorite camera I’ve ever owned. Splurged for the graphite version with matching 23 lens … no regrets. Love it, and no desire to “upgrade”. Nice video. Subscribed.
I really wanted the graphite version haha, settled for a second hand body in the end. It’s a great camera, I’m loving it now after a short adjustment period. I’m currently using a vintage lens on this baby and it’s fantastic. Will be a video about that coming soon! Thanks for your support
I bought X-Pro2 back when it was released along with 23mm F2. Great combo and I missed it so much that I bought two X-Pro2s this year to replace X-T1, X-E2, X-100F along with X-T3 as I bought in 2020 or so. Even tho I own the X-T3 (and even A7iii), I still use my X-Pro2s as daily drivers with either 23mm (1.4 or f2), and 56mm 1.2. The sensor size only becomes a problem when people make it a problem. In quality terms there's just a bit more quality in the A7iii sensor than X-Pro2 or X-T3, but not so much that people would tell the difference in a IG or FB post anyway..
I bought a Fuji X-Pro1 to use until Leica made a digital rangefinder that I liked. When I damaged the Pro1 body while shooting a solar eclipse, instead of repairing it, I replaced it with a Pro2 body. Eventually, I purchased a Leica M10. The M10 was supposed to replace the Pro2 as my main camera. However, to my surprise, I preferred shooting with the Pro2.
I've my Xpro2 for 8 months now(replacing my XE2) reused with the xf35 1.4 and xf50 f2. I enjoy taking my time using the viewfinder to take shots. Just great to walk around all day in the city without feeling like a tourist but hobbyist. As an update as of 10-23-23; I added the xf18mm 1.4 lens to use mostly for astrophotography, it is just awesome. I've been abled to get the Milkyway core, so sharp and captured a 3/4 inch size of Andromeda at 8sec F1.4 ISO1250. Just stunning and it's something I would never see with my eyes alone.
@@alexmonev Yes. The Xpro2 is bigger size brother to XE2 and it does everything the XE2 can do . I like the extra ISO dials, more megapixel where it comes in handy is astrophotography, and using the viewfinder a third of my shooting time. I use my Xpro2 when I'm out photographing and must have the best quality but also camera phone for documenting.
Bought the X-Pro2 body and grip in 2017, sweet spot for me, don't want another camera. I bought into the X system in 2012 with the X-E1 and 35mm f/1.4, still have them, still use the 35 most even though I have a bunch of XF lenses.
I do love my X-Pro 2. It was a bit of a transition from my previous full frame system but it’s better for my current needs. Glad you’re enjoying the X system, I’d love to try a GFX model at some point.
I went the XPro3 as I couldnt get the 2 in Australia. Very happy.I own 3 canon bodies and 2 sony that I use for work. I wanted something personal that also didn't stand out among people, something discreet and yet delivers a great quality image. I stopped taking my other bodies on holidays for many years as for me they are work tools and live in their bags until needed for a paid job. The other bodies when paired with lenses were just far too awkward and heavy to lug around when on holidays and in some cases would restrict access to certain venues or create issues. The XPro comes with me everywhere. I never get a second look by anyone when in public and the only people who do stop me for a chat are fellow XPro users who know the body. People really bagged the 3 for the lack of easy accessible rear lcd but to be honest, this design was what also intrigued me as I dont want to use the rear screen, I want to concentrate on taking the shot and trusting my settings and not chimping. To date, the photos I have produced with this little powerhouse are superb and it is so easy to take anywhere. Thanks for the video. Cheers from Australia
I probably would’ve gone for the X-Pro 3 too but was priced out at the time, fortunately the X-Pro 2 serves my needs well. I totally agree with what you’ve said, especially not getting a second look. As for the lack of LCD on the 3, that intrigued me too, as it’s a similar process to film photography. I’ll wait for the X-Pro 4 now and see what that brings, but for now I’m very happy with the 2. Thanks for the thoughts mate!
I also bought a used, somewhat scruffy, Xpro2, put on the 23mm f2, and am learning-by-doing street photography. Love using the camera! Looking forward to more videos like this one.
450£ was a bargain, especially with a shutter count that low mate. I totally get what you mean about the 5D not being discrete...I try and shoot street with my EOS R, and I've used a 6D and 6D MKII before and they're heavy, bulky and people stare at you awkwardly. I'm about to get an X-T4, but I'll hold onto my EOS-R as I might need a FF sensor for a paid gig in the future, just like you.
Yeah I think it was, mind you, that’s not including the lens, but it’s still a very decent price anyway. The XT-4 was my first choice but I couldn’t justify the price tag at the current time. I may hold out for the XT-5 now. But yes, always good to have a FF option. Thanks for watching and commenting Nuno!
In hindsight I should’ve probably gone for the 35mm Kadeem, but I wanted the ‘true’ 35mm experience haha. I’ve just bought an adapter to connect my Canon lenses and it’s looking pretty nifty!
I’ve been shooting street with a 5D Mark III for 10yrs. Since it is my 1st camera I’ve had a hard letting it go. The weight is probably the reason why I started looking at other bodies. I ran into a man with a fuji X-Pro 2 and he let me hold it for 10sec and I completely fell in love. I’ve since been trying to decide whether I want an X-Pro 2 or 3. For the type of work I do (even shooting nature,) I think this camera would make me happy. The more videos I watch, the more I’m convinced that I want to try it.
The weight and size was the major factor in my decision too. Whatever you choose, X-Pro 2 or 3, I think you’ll be happy. I will say though, that sometimes I do miss full-frame, and I do find myself using the 5D on occasions. It’s nice to have both options. Good luck!
Great video Matt. I just ordered a used one and it should be here in a week. That will make 3 Fuji's but I truly have use for tham all. Primes only on the incoming X-Pro2. You got a great price on that X-pro2! I paid double yours 2 days ago... Oh well, Enjoy! I'll chk your Twitter site! Tks
Great video, my Fuji experience is the same X-Pro2 with the same 23mm lens, though i did invest in the 10 to 24mm recently to cover wider angles and would like a 55-200 for some telephoto in time. Fitted with the 23mm though it acts like a chunky x100f, which i found too small to use comfortably. The X-Pro2 video i would say is its limitation, but otherwise it is perfect for my usage.
Thank you for watching. I’ve just obtained a 50mm which now sits on my X-Pro 2 99% of the time. I think the 23mm is a little too short for the style of imagery I enjoy. Still, always happy to try new things. Thanks for the comment.
My first film camera was an Agfa viewfinder camera with a fixed lense, probably built in the 1950s. It was a great camera to start out with and I also like the X-Pro-2 because it reminds me of my old viewfinder camera, its a great choice.
I'll have to check out the Agfa, sounds right up my street. Yeah the X-Pro series certainly have that old school feel, I love it. Thanks for the comment
it's 2024 and the x-pro2 is 8 years old still i went and changed the xt5 to it. why? well i got tired of the xt5 camera and when i got the xpro2 i fell in love with photography all over again. The xt5 felt like a "toy" compared to the xpro2
very nice video!! i like the factor, that it is not from the technical perspective, but from honest consumer perspective! really nice videos! keep it up
thanks Benas! Yeah there’s loads of very detailed and very good videos about the technical stuff so I wanted to focus on some reasons that just made sense to me. Glad you enjoyed it and yes back to film for the next video :)
Glad your video just popped up on my YT feed - really interesting take on the X-Pro 2. I’m just toying with something new and the 2 is on my option list (being a pensioneer I can’t run to the 3). I tried a X100V but just couldn’t get on with it. So I’m torn between a used 2 and the LUMIX GX9 with the Leica 15mm lens. I had a GX80 and liked it but got it very wet 🙈, and the 9 seems a logical upgrade. I was heading down the GX9 route but you’ve made me stop and rethink. Thanks… and keep up the good work.
Hi Robert, thanks for stopping by. We sound very similar, in that we will take a long time to make a decision. However, this is most probably a good thing! I haven't used any Lumix cameras before, so I'll have to reserve my judgement on them. I can recommend the Fuji X-Pro 2, but the ultimate advice I can share is to try before you buy if possible. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
@@robertpugh4057 Robert, I had the GX9 a few years back as I prefer the RF-style bodies. The only thing that bothered me was the low resolution EVF. I then switched to the Olympus Pen - F with a far superior EVF.

Great - very informative video Matt. I was on a path to saving up for the x-pro3, but I’ve come across a lot of criticism of the screen - both the quirky unfolding, but also it seems quite a common fault that one or both screens give up the ghost - usually when the camera is just out of warranty, so I’m now decided on a x-pro2 …. And, as you did, playing the waiting game!
You’re welcome Alan. I too wanted the X-Pro 3, but I couldn’t be happier with the X-Pro 2. I’ll most likely make use of this little beast for a couple of years before upgrading. Good luck on your search!
Hey mate. Great video. Just a correction all electronic shutter modes of any camera are completely silent (they add artificial sounds that you can turn off completely)
Awesome video Matt. I've shot and continue to shoot a variety of cameras both film and digital, one firm favorite has been the X100 series, currently on the F such a cracking capable camera. I am wanting to upgrade in the near future to an Interchangeable lens system the X-pro is my choice as I prefer the range finder styling, The X-pro 3 I've had a good look at it ticks the boxes for me, but looking at the 2 does the same at a far cheaper cost. Lens wise I have a few nice vintage lenses I'd like to use on the X-pro. Food for thought cheers mate appreciate it.
Fuji do make great cameras and I’m sure you’ll be happy with whatever you decide. I think the X-Pro 2 is already a classic camera and will be sought after for many years. Like you say, when you pair it with a vintage lens you can really make some magic happen!
Completely get you in regards to hunting down a decent secondhand camera. I wanted something small as a go everywhere camera & found a 5 year old Ricoh GRii, absolutely mint for a modest sum. It's a gem of a camera, excellent image quality & perfectly compliments how I approach street photography in tandem with my Fuji XT20. Excellent vid as always Matt, look forward to seeing what you do with your X-Pro 2 📸🤩
Ahh I was looking at the Ricoh's too and was very close to buying the GRiii! In the end I decided it was better for me to get a camera that allowed for interchangeable lenses but I really do want to try one. Thank you mate, appreciate it and *UTV!*
Haven’t long got rid of an X-Pro 2 and regret it bitterly. As good as the X-T2 is, the rangefinder styling of the X-Pro 2 suits my shooting style more. Without doubt one of the best crop sensor cameras around 👍
Welcome to the Fuji family, I had the 6DMKII till a few months ago, the x100v got me hooked on the system so I traded in and went full Fuji. I just want to use the camera more now, love how they work and feel
Thank you, I already feel part of the Fuji community - seems like it's a good one! It was the x100v or the X-Pro 2 for me, I went for the X-Pro due to being able to change lenses. You're right, they do look and feel awesome and are super intuitive! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Damn nice video I love the camera. I have it too and it’s my absolute favorite camera I switched from the Canon 5dii and 6d ii to the xt 2 and xpro 2. I planned to make the exact same video but I’ll think there is no need anymore for mine so if it’s ok I feature your video by mentioning it. Have a nice one
Thanks mate, appreciate it. Don't let me stop you making videos though, but feel free to mention the video if you want lol. I was thinking about the XT-4 but now I have this I may wait until a future model is released. Thanks again and have a nice one yourself
Shutter count 2800? That's a brand new camera mate! I bougt my X-E2S with about 8k shutter actuations and I made about 10 shutter actuations in 6 months!
I think it’s pretty good. It shoots 4K with the firmware update, and I like that you can bake in the film simulations. If you check out this video th-cam.com/video/DdiHuQ90PWU/w-d-xo.html - I shot the pieces to camera in my house with the X-Pro 2, in 4K, so you can get an idea of the quality.
A combination of luck and patience! I spent a large amount of time scouring eBay for a good deal. I would sort by ending soonest and I managed to get lucky. It did take me a few months before I found a listing at a good price though. Thanks Angus, appreciate it.
I used a website called apotelyt . com. They have a shutter count page where you upload a jpg and it extracts the EXIF data. So it’s possible through a third party.
I am trying to buy a pre owned x-pro 2 market but prices are very high for a 6 years old camera (€800???). What do you think it’s a fair price for an x-pro 2 in 2023? Thanks !
The pre-owned X-Pro2 price has risen significantly in recent times unfortunately. I think I was really lucky because I bought mine for around £450 (body only) from eBay. I was patient though, and was looking pretty much everyday for a few months. I’ve just had a quick look, there’s a website in the UK called mpb that sells used cameras. A ‘well-used’ X-Pro is going for £559. So I think if you can get one around that price it’ll be good. Good luck with your search Fabio!
@@MattJNeale Just checked... X-Pro 2 starts at 909euro in good conditions; for excellent conditions you get close to 1400. it seems way too much; maybe a new X-e4 would do?
Wow that’s expensive. I haven’t tried the XE-4 myself but I’ve heard very, very good things. It also has the newer X-Trans 4 sensor & is a tiny bit more compact that the X-Pro 2. To be honest I think all Fuji cameras are great and you’ll be happy with either of them
Welcome to the family! Nice video. I still use the X-pro 2 for pro work and it´s been great. However, if you bought it for the compact size, you should have gone for the x 100 series...I have the x 100t and since I bought it it has replaced all my x-t bodies for family snapping and basically for all that can be done with a 35mm (equiv.) lens. And it´s MUCH smaller than the x-pro 2 + 23mm f2 :) Anyway, one is never really done shopping! :)
Hi Petr, I do like the compact size & I was in fact close to buying one of the X100 series. However, the deal-breaker for me was interchangeable lenses. Perhaps in future I may look at the series again as they are fantastic cameras but for now I'm done shopping! Thanks for watching!
I'm with you on the size of the Canon DSLRs. Too bulky and in your line of street photography work, you can't be a ninja unless you have a really long zoom haha. Then you just become a spy/private investigator haha. As time goes on, devices will get smaller and more powerful. I liked your video and subscribed to your channel!
Welcome to the channel Darren. I totally agree. When I was abroad it didn't pose too much of a problem, apart from the weight. Since I've been back living in the UK it's been a different story! The 5D is way too intrusive for most situations in street photography over here. Thanks for subscribing mate!
If your camera saves the shutter count to the EXIF data it’s pretty easy. Online option - Just search for ‘fujifilm shutter count’ in your preferred search engine and then you should be able to upload a jpg which will give you all the EXIF info, including shutter count.
yo thanks Ashton. I have been looking for a longer lens in fact, thanks for putting this up for consideration. Just had a quick search for it and it looks very decent indeed
To be honest Jonah, it was a tough choice on lenses. I went for the 23mm due to it effectively being 35mm. I did look at the 35mm 1.4 and I may end up grabbing one in future. I will, however, most likely buy the 56mm or 80mm before that though. Why did you sell the 23mm?

Hey mate. Great video. Just a correction all electronic shutter modes of any camera are completely silent (they add artificial sounds that you can turn off completely)
Thanks for the clarification mate
@@MattJNeale I’m all abart the magic mate 😂
@@MattJNeale it's gonna be a great season 🤞#VTID 🤩
@@jayjayjjetplane let’s hope our Jack signs that contract this week! Haha
@@MattJNeale that would be such a boost eh? Him & Buendia are gonna tear it up this season 🤩
This camera is really good with vintage mf lenses due to focus peaking...works great :)
Yeah I currently have a manual 50mm on my X-Pro 2. Focus peaking is a game changer!
I've just bought the x-Pro2 for the exact same reasons
It’s a great camera Domenico, have fun with it!
Great camera actually my favorite ever. I use it for pro work too!
Fuji really nailed it, although I haven’t used the X-Pro3. I’ll be sure to take a look at the 4 when it’s released.
Haven’t long got rid of an X-Pro 2 and regret it bitterly. As good as the X-T2 is, the rangefinder styling of the X-Pro 2 suits my shooting style more.
Without doubt one of the best crop sensor cameras around 👍
I couldn’t agree more Glen. You can always repurchase..
IS the X pro3 not better?
Fantastic Video, thanks for sharing
Thank you Tony!
Shutter count 2800? That's a brand new camera mate! I bougt my X-E2S with about 8k shutter actuations and I made about 10 shutter actuations in 6 months!
Yeah I think I got lucky. The person that sold it to me said he didn’t use it much. I’ve probably already doubled it!
hey, which raw converter do you use for fuji?
Hey Simon, I just use the one built into LR or PS. I have heard that it’s not the best for Fuji Raw files but it works for me.
Is it any good for video as well? Or it’s mainly good for photography?
I think it’s pretty good. It shoots 4K with the firmware update, and I like that you can bake in the film simulations. If you check out this video th-cam.com/video/DdiHuQ90PWU/w-d-xo.html - I shot the pieces to camera in my house with the X-Pro 2, in 4K, so you can get an idea of the quality.
how did you pick one up that cheap ? great video, so helpful.
A combination of luck and patience! I spent a large amount of time scouring eBay for a good deal. I would sort by ending soonest and I managed to get lucky. It did take me a few months before I found a listing at a good price though. Thanks Angus, appreciate it.
How did you checked the shutter count? I knew it's not possible...
I used a website called apotelyt . com. They have a shutter count page where you upload a jpg and it extracts the EXIF data. So it’s possible through a third party.
I just bought my xpro2! Hope that I made the good choice...
I'm sure it's a good choice Claudio! Have fun with it
I am trying to buy a pre owned x-pro 2 market but prices are very high for a 6 years old camera (€800???).
To be honest I think all Fuji cameras are great and you’ll be happy with either of them
Thanks Matt!
That is a good looking camera :)
Thanks for subscribing mate!
how to check shutter count fujifilm?
If your camera saves the shutter count to the EXIF data it’s pretty easy. Online option - Just search for ‘fujifilm shutter count’ in your preferred search engine and then you should be able to upload a jpg which will give you all the EXIF info, including shutter count.
V good video thanks. In the same boat with a a 5d 😂
Mines going on ebay this week😂Tired of fussing with the quirky focus.
Ahh no! I find the focus to be great for what I need, but it's not for everyone I suppose. What are you going to get instead?
@@MattJNeale 🤷🏻♂️. Maybe ill just keep it haha.
look at the viltrox 85mm f1.8, its a cracking lens
yo thanks Ashton. I have been looking for a longer lens in fact, thanks for putting this up for consideration. Just had a quick search for it and it looks very decent indeed
@Matt J Neale but the 85bon a aps is 127 to 135
but the 85bon a aps is 127 to 135
1:30 - brah
450 when its going for well over 1,000 now is a STEAL haha
That's a very cheap price
I got lucky!
The 23mmf2 is the only lens I've ever sold, get the 35mm1.4! 😁 @Sufstreet @xftales
