    I have three 1967 Rokor lens for my Fujifilm X-T20, a 35mm, a 50mm macro and a 135mm, they are not perfect but in most circumstances they give very good results for the price paid. In some circumstances the finish that those old lens give you will make save some time in post to achieve a certain finish. If you are OK with manual focus, those old lens are gems, and when you're tired of it you can resell those lens for the same price you paid

      That’s great advice Nelson, I’ll take a look at the Rokors. It’s always nice to have the newest, most advanced lens available but I’m really enjoying using old lenses at the moment. They are gems indeed.

    How is the focus peaking in the dark? I mainly shoot in low light situations. I use manual lenses and awaiting my first Fuji EX2 to arrive, I have Sony A6500 and the focus peaking is crystal clear.

    • @MattJNeale
      @MattJNeale  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think focus peaking works pretty well in the dark. Obviously it depends how fast your lens is but I haven’t had any issues with my 50mm f/1.2

    how does the OVF work with mf lens? does it assist the focus in some ways or does it have the analogue-style rangefinder?

    First things first.
    Fab vid, love that you're honest about how things pan out on trips 😉 Love using vintage lens, gotta real soft spot for my Sigma 28mm mini wide, really characterful lens that I totally recommend. Quite cheap too.
    Secondly, Kazakhstan, wow Boy! Fabulous! What an amazing opportunity. Totally excited for you. I think you should just embrace the country, go with the flow. Don't be afraid to document your travels, your Kazakh diaries, I'll certainly be watching 👀
    Promise me one thing though, find some Villa fans over there or convert the locals to Claret & Blue! A film about that would be Class!
    Good luck to you both, wishing you all the best on your fab adventure, Jay #holteendersinthesky or in your case #holteendersinalmaty? 🤩

    • @MattJNeale
      @MattJNeale  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Jay, I’m definitely going to check out some other vintage lenses, such fun to use! The sigma sounds very nice indeed.
      Yeah it’s hopefully going to be really interesting. However COVID might limit what we’re able to do. We’ll see. It should still be a great experience though. I have actually visited before for 3 weeks and loved it.
      I will do my upmost to find or convert some people into Villa fans! I’ve watched every minute of every game this season so I don’t want to miss any, although I may have to now with some games due to the time difference. Thanks for the kind words man, I’ll have to get up to Birmingham when I’m back!

    do you know how to solve shutter issues when vintage lenses are attatched? seems like the viewfinder is working fine but for some reason i cant take any photos when i press the shutter

    • @MattJNeale
      @MattJNeale  ปีที่แล้ว

      When using manual focus lenses on Fuji X bodies, don’t forget the following settings:
      SHOOT WITHOUT LENS. The camera will not trigger if this is not enabled.
      MOUNT ADAPTOR SETTING. This tells the camera what focal length your lens is, and will record it in your EXIF data.
      Finally, if you need help with focusing you can turn on FOCUS PEAKING. Hope this helps!

    Hi Matt really great results from the old Canon. Is it possible to use the OVF with it, or are the frame lines out of whack? Best of luck on future endeavours. Cheers

    • @MattJNeale
      @MattJNeale  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Arthur thanks mate. Yes it’s certainly possible to use the OVF with this lens. Just make sure you change the ‘Mount Adapter setting’ within the ‘Shooting setting’ menu to 50mm. It won’t recognise the lens automatically so it requires a manual change.
      Little side note is that you can’t see focus peaking through the OVF of course, so I tended to use the EVF instead.

    • @MattJNeale

      It’s a simple backpack from Barbour. In fact, I don’t recommend it, it broke in less than a year of use haha
