Frankly he should have not been put in any one role as the chosen one he should have studied and learned all the different roles and teachings of the Jedi and the force itself.
That's.. Not how it works. It is more due to personality than of actual "different teachings". Consulars, like Master Yoda and Luke, focus more on studying the Force and favoring non-lethal combat and the art of negotiation. They seek the higher mysteries of the Force and communeore with the Force. Guardians, Obi-Wan and Anakin, focus more on the physical aspects of the Force. Combat and facing threats head-on, is usually what they do best. Piloting is also part of their skill set. Sentinals, Bastila (legends), rely more on life skills. As was stated, they focus on tech skills and they strike a balance between their Force studies and combat studies. They also get to venture out more and work more closely with local authorities. They're oversight is more loose and they are allowed ro mingle more with civilians than the other two: Consulars meditate and commune more woth the Force; Guardians train their bodies to it's peak to be the perfect weapon against evil and the Dark Side.

Something that I think would have been an interesting direction to take the prequel trilogy in would have been to have Darth Maul be more of a prominent villain. Instead of doing away with him at the end of episode 1 and then bringing in Count Dooku, I think it would have been interesting if he killed Qui-Gon and then maybe back up showed up to help Obi Wan, so Maul escaped instead of being cut in half. He could then come back in episode 2 and fight Anakin and maybe he could be the one to cut his arm off like Count Dooku did. Episode 3 would then have Anakin and Darth Maul face off one more time where Anakin kills him and then Palpatine would be revealed as the true villain. I just think it would have allowed Darth Maul to be developed more and I think it would have added something interesting where the prequel trilogy would have had a stronger parallel to the original trilogy of how you thought Darth Vader was the true villain only for it to really be Palpatine. It would also add a dynamic where the prequel trilogy was kind of a contest of who was more worthy to be Palpatine's apprentice Darth Maul or Anakin.
See, I think he should've been both. Like he should've been trained as sentinel then switched to Guardian when the war broke out. It could work plot wise as well

Yeah Anakin’s massive power in the force and thusly his inate capabilities in being able to quickly grasp most force power abilities would definitely serve him well as a councilor. But like with him as sentinel he was to focused on saber combat and not even something that gave him quick integrated use of force abilities like form 6 but form 5.

I think there was a rumor a few months back that Disney was going to try giving Anakin a yellow saber in a "re-release" of the prequels and completely retcon his blue saber for Rey. I am glad it appears to be unfounded.

I think Plo Koon should have been a Jedi Sentinel as opposed to a Guardian. Even though Koon was renowned for his lightsaber skills, the Kel Dor also possessed a variety of conventional and esoteric Force techniques like Electric Judgment, Alter Environment, Ayna-Seff and Malacia
I would think he would have been better as a hybrid Sentinel/Guardian jedi. Like having taken lessons with the Sentinels to where if he needed to disappear and go undercover he could, but with him being the chosen one that could make it a little hard for him especially since Dooku and Sidious knew who he was and could try blowing his cover on a mission to imprison him and then try turning him to the darkside. But having sentinel training would make it so no prison could hold him.
Amusingly why I always have played Cal from Star wars fallen order and survivor as a Sentinel xD Pure down to earth survivalist. So every playthrough has been with a golden blade and standard hilt(maybe one made similar to the temple guard.) xD
Well maybe Anakin could have fulfilled a in between roll of Sentinel and guardian, he could have been a sentinel that took a more Guardian approach to the world around him. As we seen he tends to have a more outgoing personality.

A very compelling case. Anakin is a lot more well rounded or worldly than fans are lead to believe. Rather than a Sentinel, he would probably be better as a Gray Jedi or in a role similar to Qui Gon Jin.
Yeah, Anakin being groomed as kind of the chosen one in some ways was a mistake. In this way, he was meant to focus on the force and dueling. These teachings kind of squandered the skills from his background. He had a talent for mechanical work, building droids and pod racers. Such skills could easily have been nurtured. The likely reason they didn't do that was for a harsher emphasis in his training to leave his old life behind. That's really the only log9ical, while still foolish, reason the Jedi would have had for this. Anakin's focus on the present is much like what Qui-Gon Jin said to Obi-Wan, correcting him when his student speaks on Yoda's advice to focus on the future by saying that it must never come at the expense of being mindful of the present. After all, if you lose sight of the present, you won't have a future. Anakin being more connected to the people, not on this pedestal as a chosen one for a vague prophecy, would have also given him a larger support network of friends to assist his mental health. He wouldn't have relied on Palpatine as much and Palpatine would have less excuses to be in his ear. This is because, if he wasn't a hero on the front lines, then he wouldn't have had as much of a connection to the politics of the war. As a spy or even as a tech worker, he would have worked behind the scenes. His work still felt in the war but not nearly as publicly. He would be an unsung hero, where his colleagues would know his value but he wouldn't have had such an inflated ego or the stress of expectations put on him. That's not as much a wrench in the argument as you may think. With training as a sentinel, focusing on his tech skills, Anakin may have found other solutions to the droid army that could have proven even more useful in stopping them. Studying their technology, either through his skills or through the ability to dominate and download knowledge of the droids to his own mind.
This is one of the first videos where I 100% agree with you. Living among the people as a Jedi in hiding while practicing more functional and social skills would have served Anakin significantly better than being a Jedi Guardian. It's a missed opportunity and one I didn't consider. He was already exceptionally gifted in the force and he could have studied that in his own time, but being connected to the people in that way I think would have fundamentally changed him. I think it would have fit him better to take parts of both lifestyles and mix them together. Maybe he could have created or lead a new position inside the jedi order.
You make some very good points...it's hard to say bc the obvious answer is no he should remain a guardian, but the sith machinations were in play anyway so there likely wouldn't have been a Vader. That may change the equation for the future argument

I have heard, but do not claim authoritative, that by the time of the Clone Wars the Sentinal class (which makes me think of D&D) had ceased entirely. The Temple guards had the Yellow sabers as well, but those were specifically the Temple’s sabers, which combined with the matching uniforms and face masks (helmets?) made them interchangeable. Made them truly anonymous. They should each also have their own personal sabers in Blue or Green. Then again, if they were all undercover, I guess “There are no more Jedi Sentinels” is a pretty good cover story. As I’m thinking all this, I am reminded of the scene from the live action Asokha show, where Ezra has given up (or lost, of he couldn’t get the parts to fix… haven’t binged the show, but this scene was shown a lot in the lead-up) using a saber entirely. Using only the Force. That seems like a bad choice, if he did choose. The Acolyte had the one woman setting out to kill a Jedi without a saber… so making the test unfair against them is reasonable. And we’ve seen Vader (in the Rogue One hallway massacre) and Kylo Ren catch a blaster bolt in the air. So it’s possible.But the only time I’d willingly leave my weapon behind is if I expected to be searched. Luke hid his in R2, against Jabba. Also, when he lost his and to Vader, coincidentally losing the saber, until Mas somehow has it, Luke made a new saber. It was green, as opposed to the blue on Ben gave him. His new one was yellow, right?
the only problem the council and other jedi had with Anakin is he wasn’t by the books , but you cannot deny that Anakin got shit done while the rest of the order were basically fence sitting.
I believe him being the chosen one yes should have been a sentinal but i think him as a person should have a guardian. In a metaphorical sense of speaking the Jedi sentinals were the sword against the dark side. The jedi consolirs would have been horrible for him as a character too. He is loyal to people. He is a man driven by love compassion and care for others. A Jedi guardian the shield of the people of the Galaxy. In the phantom menace he states he has a dream of becoming a Jedi and coming back to free all the slaves. He is a man driven to protect others. While I understand why people may draw this conclusion. I believe him being a guardian would have the best if the council had lessened how much they held him back. I think he would have fallen almost immediately to the dark side if he were to become a jefi sentinal

If I had to guess, the Council might have tried to deter Anakin from being a Sentinal since they feared his training and being a Sentinal would have given him too much freedom. Sentinals are my favorite Jedi Class hands down.
I still say he should keep his blue lightsaber it too iconic for him and maybe add his golden lightsaber as a secondary weapon but yeah sentinel can work for him.
The only other problem with Anakin being a Sentinel is his lack pf patience, this man screams skilled Guardian but I agree Sentinel tenants would have helped him and probably the galaxy so much more, probably would’ve happened with Qui-Gon as his master 🤷🏼♂️
I could only imagine what kind of Droids or machines Anakin would be able to make if he could just download the schematics straight to his mind. Him building C-3PO at 9 years old is already insane, and remember he did that scraps from the trash and whatever he could nab from Waldo. Just imagine what Anakin could've done had he known how to perform Machu Daru. He could've downloaded the schematics for any piece of technology ever. Wow.
Anakin and Luke was in a way, the most grounded Jedi there was, it's true Anakin had an ego, but he got like that because of how he was treated by the Jedi. When he was in the world he didn't act or feel like a Jedi, he felt like a normal person, even his robes felt "normal" as did it with Luke.
Keep in mind that the war was a farce to destabilize the Republic, so whether Anakin was a general or not Palpatine would have kept it going until he was ready to seize control. The problem is that Anakin lacked the patience to be a proper Jedi Sentinel. He would have turned out as more of a Jedi Bounty Hunter, which would've been awesome.
I mean, why not just let him train with the Sentinels as well? Qui-Gon was technically a Consular, but he was one of the Jedi's best combat knights in his day. Likewise, Dooku was perhaps THE greatest swordsman of his age, not counting Yoda, wielding the blue blade of a Guardian, but he was also prone to studying the mysteries of the Force and was an expert politician.
You could make an argument that because of how he was discovered and because he was given that quote mantle of the chosen ones so early that would have been very difficult to truly hide undercover without creating alternative identities.
One positive fact (about Anakin possibly being a Sentinel): Anakin was very tech-savvy. One negative fact: Anakin is the opposite of stealthy. He never would've been able to stay undercover long enough to achieve a mission without resorting to his lightsaber and blowing his cover.

What he really should have got from the Council was proper spiritual guidance and teachings on how to manage negative emotions, instead of just being told "ey yo, just like, don't feel them bruh." Imagine full potential Anakin in full control of himself and of his Chosen One power - the galaxy would have got the greatest Jedi to ever live!
That would have been an interesting story. Would have been very cool to se the clone wars from the perspective of a sentinel. Following Anakin on subyrefuge and intelligence gathering missions. Being a sentinel would have faced him to be a lot more patient though.
Anakin is the chosen one, He was constantly complaining about being held back, In truth, He should have been trained in all three traditions, and have three mentors working with him to fill in where Obiwan couldn't.

maybe he shouldent have been a sentinel directly, but i think he should have been given some of the training. obi wan knew he was realy good with technology considering the pod racer he had made (?) and the protocoll droid i did make. we saw one other jedi with simular skill, Han and leas youngest son that was acctualy also made Aniken. he was extremly gifted with mecanics to even at the age of 4 or 5, we see this during the correlia book where its learned what centerpoint station acctualy is, the first time we meet Hans cousin, also some of the history of the system itself and the peoples living there. the book is set a few years afther the thrawn triology and the dark empire radio drama storry.
If you have a "chosen one" prodigy, you should make them into the Avatar of Jedi. They should be involved in every aspect, not forced into any one path. Teach him everything, don't restrict him for no reason
Anakin could have definitely handled the technical skills of the sentinels. I think whichever path he studied, the war would have drawn him into combat. He was just too good to be left on the sidelines. Another advantage might have been getting a more mature master than Obi Wan. In that case, Obi Wan could have been a friendly older brother type because of their shared bond through Qui Gon, while an older jedi could have been his master.
In some ways, I tend to feel like the Jedi Sentinels, as a group, were on the decline; I feel like it was more than "WE just see them", and more into the Order filtered more away from it. I'll also continue to wonder how they intended the Chosen One to deal with the Dark Side, even once it had become more obvious if wasn't as gone as they had thought, if they were going to isolate him from it? I do have a silly question, though; is it common for a Jedi Sentinel to be trained by someone who was not a Sentinel, themselves? This could get back into the "Kenobi shouldn't have been the one to train Anakin" arguments, but one thing Kenobi definitely wasn't was a Sentinel. It feels like it would have required Anakin to do some training with Kenobi, but then end that relationship, and pair him wirh someone to guide him into the Sentinel ways, but Kenobi was always going to be Anakin's teacher, so I'm not sure how that was going to work? Qui-Gon wasn't a Sentinel either, so I'm not sure if this would've worked, even if he had survived.

I used to get upset when I got sentinel in 'which jedi are you' quizzes. But after watching a few videos on them, I couldn't be happier now.

Anakin's focus on the present is much like what Qui-Gon Jin said to Obi-Wan, correcting him when his student speaks on Yoda's advice to focus on the future by saying that it must never come at the expense of being mindful of the present. After all, if you lose sight of the present, you won't have a future. Anakin being more connected to the people, not on this pedestal as a chosen one for a vague prophecy, would have also given him a larger support network of friends to assist his mental health. He wouldn't have relied on Palpatine as much and Palpatine would have less excuses to be in his ear. This is because, if he wasn't a hero on the front lines, then he wouldn't have had as much of a connection to the politics of the war. As a spy or even as a tech worker, he would have worked behind the scenes. His work still felt in the war but not nearly as publicly. He would be an unsung hero, where his colleagues would know his value but he wouldn't have had such an inflated ego or the stress of expectations put on him. That's not as much a wrench in the argument as you may think. With training as a sentinel, focusing on his tech skills, Anakin may have found other solutions to the droid army that could have proven even more useful in stopping them. Studying their technology, either through his skills or through the ability to dominate and download knowledge of the droids to his own mind.
This is one of the first videos where I 100% agree with you. Living among the people as a Jedi in hiding while practicing more functional and social skills would have served Anakin significantly better than being a Jedi Guardian. It's a missed opportunity and one I didn't consider. He was already exceptionally gifted in the force and he could have studied that in his own time, but being connected to the people in that way I think would have fundamentally changed him. I think it would have fit him better to take parts of both lifestyles and mix them together. Maybe he could have created or lead a new position inside the jedi order.
I believe he was mostly suited to be a Guardian, but he definitely should've learned from the Sentinels.

You make some very good points...it's hard to say bc the obvious answer is no he should remain a guardian, but the sith machinations were in play anyway so there likely wouldn't have been a Vader. That may change the equation for the future argument
You know what now that I think about it. I kind of agree that Anakin probably would have made a better Sentinel and he might have not have fallen to the dark side if he went on the Sentinel path
Considering him being the 'chosen one's savior, etc he should have taught as much of all aspects of every type of Jedi position. Let him go to battle when necessary but also let him learn with the sentinels in his available downtime.. he was literally orphaned and all he got was miss them do not grieve them do not.. like are you trying to make this dude spiral that's crazy stupid for such wise council especially someone like Yoda around 800 years old

I have heard, but do not claim authoritative, that by the time of the Clone Wars the Sentinal class (which makes me think of D&D) had ceased entirely. The Temple guards had the Yellow sabers as well, but those were specifically the Temple’s sabers, which combined with the matching uniforms and face masks (helmets?) made them interchangeable. Made them truly anonymous. They should each also have their own personal sabers in Blue or Green.
Then again, if they were all undercover, I guess “There are no more Jedi Sentinels” is a pretty good cover story.
As I’m thinking all this, I am reminded of the scene from the live action Asokha show, where Ezra has given up (or lost, of he couldn’t get the parts to fix… haven’t binged the show, but this scene was shown a lot in the lead-up) using a saber entirely. Using only the Force.
That seems like a bad choice, if he did choose. The Acolyte had the one woman setting out to kill a Jedi without a saber… so making the test unfair against them is reasonable. And we’ve seen Vader (in the Rogue One hallway massacre) and Kylo Ren catch a blaster bolt in the air. So it’s possible.But the only time I’d willingly leave my weapon behind is if I expected to be searched. Luke hid his in R2, against Jabba.
Also, when he lost his and to Vader, coincidentally losing the saber, until Mas somehow has it, Luke made a new saber. It was green, as opposed to the blue on Ben gave him. His new one was yellow, right?
the only problem the council and other jedi had with Anakin is he wasn’t by the books , but you cannot deny that Anakin got shit done while the rest of the order were basically fence sitting.
I believe him being the chosen one yes should have been a sentinal but i think him as a person should have a guardian. In a metaphorical sense of speaking the Jedi sentinals were the sword against the dark side. The jedi consolirs would have been horrible for him as a character too. He is loyal to people. He is a man driven by love compassion and care for others. A Jedi guardian the shield of the people of the Galaxy. In the phantom menace he states he has a dream of becoming a Jedi and coming back to free all the slaves. He is a man driven to protect others. While I understand why people may draw this conclusion. I believe him being a guardian would have the best if the council had lessened how much they held him back. I think he would have fallen almost immediately to the dark side if he were to become a jefi sentinal

If I had to guess, the Council might have tried to deter Anakin from being a Sentinal since they feared his training and being a Sentinal would have given him too much freedom. Sentinals are my favorite Jedi Class hands down.

The only other problem with Anakin being a Sentinel is his lack pf patience, this man screams skilled Guardian but I agree Sentinel tenants would have helped him and probably the galaxy so much more, probably would’ve happened with Qui-Gon as his master 🤷🏼♂️

I agree that Sentinels are criminally underrated in favor of the more vanilla classes! I definitely would've ended up as a Jedi Shadow and get promoted into Watchman (like KotOR2) if I were recruited into the Order. Purple blade, though.

Anakin and Luke was in a way, the most grounded Jedi there was, it's true Anakin had an ego, but he got like that because of how he was treated by the Jedi.
When he was in the world he didn't act or feel like a Jedi, he felt like a normal person, even his robes felt "normal" as did it with Luke.

Keep in mind that the war was a farce to destabilize the Republic, so whether Anakin was a general or not Palpatine would have kept it going until he was ready to seize control. The problem is that Anakin lacked the patience to be a proper Jedi Sentinel. He would have turned out as more of a Jedi Bounty Hunter, which would've been awesome.

I mean, why not just let him train with the Sentinels as well? Qui-Gon was technically a Consular, but he was one of the Jedi's best combat knights in his day. Likewise, Dooku was perhaps THE greatest swordsman of his age, not counting Yoda, wielding the blue blade of a Guardian, but he was also prone to studying the mysteries of the Force and was an expert politician.
You could make an argument that because of how he was discovered and because he was given that quote mantle of the chosen ones so early that would have been very difficult to truly hide undercover without creating alternative identities.
Sentinels need more love in the Star Wars universe!
One positive fact (about Anakin possibly being a Sentinel): Anakin was very tech-savvy.
One negative fact: Anakin is the opposite of stealthy. He never would've been able to stay undercover long enough to achieve a mission without resorting to his lightsaber and blowing his cover.

I 100% agree he should’ve been a sentinel. I also think regardless of his class his skills would’ve definitely been used to lead troops. I mean Bastila Shan was used to lead troops so I would think so could anakin as a sentinel
What he really should have got from the Council was proper spiritual guidance and teachings on how to manage negative emotions, instead of just being told "ey yo, just like, don't feel them bruh."
Imagine full potential Anakin in full control of himself and of his Chosen One power - the galaxy would have got the greatest Jedi to ever live!

That would have been an interesting story. Would have been very cool to se the clone wars from the perspective of a sentinel. Following Anakin on subyrefuge and intelligence gathering missions.
Being a sentinel would have faced him to be a lot more patient though.
Anakin is the chosen one, He was constantly complaining about being held back, In truth, He should have been trained in all three traditions, and have three mentors working with him to fill in where Obiwan couldn't.

maybe he shouldent have been a sentinel directly, but i think he should have been given some of the training. obi wan knew he was realy good with technology considering the pod racer he had made (?) and the protocoll droid i did make.
we saw one other jedi with simular skill, Han and leas youngest son that was acctualy also made Aniken. he was extremly gifted with mecanics to even at the age of 4 or 5, we see this during the correlia book where its learned what centerpoint station acctualy is, the first time we meet Hans cousin, also some of the history of the system itself and the peoples living there.
the book is set a few years afther the thrawn triology and the dark empire radio drama storry.
Given his power in the Force, I always felt he should be a Jedi Consular.
If you have a "chosen one" prodigy, you should make them into the Avatar of Jedi. They should be involved in every aspect, not forced into any one path. Teach him everything, don't restrict him for no reason
Sentinels are the best imo. Always play as sentinel class when booting kotor 1 and 2, and I never regret it
Anakin could have definitely handled the technical skills of the sentinels.
I think whichever path he studied, the war would have drawn him into combat.
He was just too good to be left on the sidelines.
Another advantage might have been getting a more mature master than Obi Wan.
In that case, Obi Wan could have been a friendly older brother type because of their shared bond through Qui Gon, while an older jedi could have been his master.
In some ways, I tend to feel like the Jedi Sentinels, as a group, were on the decline; I feel like it was more than "WE just see them", and more into the Order filtered more away from it. I'll also continue to wonder how they intended the Chosen One to deal with the Dark Side, even once it had become more obvious if wasn't as gone as they had thought, if they were going to isolate him from it?
I do have a silly question, though; is it common for a Jedi Sentinel to be trained by someone who was not a Sentinel, themselves? This could get back into the "Kenobi shouldn't have been the one to train Anakin" arguments, but one thing Kenobi definitely wasn't was a Sentinel. It feels like it would have required Anakin to do some training with Kenobi, but then end that relationship, and pair him wirh someone to guide him into the Sentinel ways, but Kenobi was always going to be Anakin's teacher, so I'm not sure how that was going to work? Qui-Gon wasn't a Sentinel either, so I'm not sure if this would've worked, even if he had survived.
