Thank you for your service to the Empire Stupendous Wave!
Fun fact! There were a few battle droids in the Rebellion. Mister Bones joined in the Rebellion after the Battle of Endor and was present during the battle of Jaaku. Then there was R0-GR from the Lego Freemaker adventures who technically was made canon.
I think the use of commando droids utilizing stealth, infiltration, and sniper variants would have been very effective even in small numbers. Not only that but the super tactical droid commanders were very impressive. Lots of droids could be utilized for many uses in unweaponized positions or high risk operations. They'd also make good suicide weapons. Strap a old hyperdrive to something and a droid pilot and zip straight through large vessels. I could also see those flying droids that walk with their wings to beef up numbers in attacks by diverting forces and limiting the likelihood that your human pilots would be taken out.
The real reason why the rebels didn’t use droids is because George Lucas wrote episodes 4 before episodes 1-3. He didn’t have the backstory complete in 1977.
Well one of the reasons was that the pirates had dibs, made their faction much more unique by having destroyer droids as well as other odd things to fight the Rebel Salience and the Empire. The funniest thing this faction had was a lad who served as a general, like a Vader replacement, who's job was to point at enemy units and buy them. "I like that ATAT, I'm going bribe them over to our side. They can't fear Vader with dollar signs in their eyes." God I love Star Wars Empire At War.
This is great explanation. Perfect! Everything is clear. Sacrifice and martyrdom of Rebels. That's difference. Heart of the people. Great holocron. May the Force be with you too😊
B-1 Leader: These new guys are creampuffs! Do they even know how to aim? B-1 Regular: Uhhh...sir? Five ISD's in orbit, assuming firing positions. Leader: Doesn't matter - still creampuffs. The Clones would be throwing their helmets, loaded with detonators, by now - THAT was workmanship!!!
aye man love the videos been a fan for a while but I do have to say it would be nice if you invested in some software like izotopes rx to control the loudness, plosives, and sibilance so the listening experience is better on headphones.
Wave thanks for mentioning my comment yesterday in the wave/ theory podcast.I'm. 45 and have seen a lot, in the fandom.Palpatine was, playing both sides of the cline wars. And i think the rebellion, should hsve used the battle droids .
IF one ignores the necessary supplies, charging stations, necessary ships to deploy them, mainetance, etc. What would have been the point? The rebels did not fight large scale planetary operations. It would have been fine to have those units as protectors of bases, like leave them behind on Hoth to fight off the attack until the rebels sneak out... The only droid unit that could have been useful for the rebels are the droid fighters, especially the tri fighters. Or if they can maintain a Venator or a Lucrahulk. AS moving bases for the rebel alliance.
As long time fan of the original Star Wars trilogy and lore before the woke era; I can honestly say you have just done your research. Further you just laid out all the right reasons why Disney’s continued insistence on portraying the imperial stormtrooper as bafoonish blaster fodder has become unbearably infuriating!
far as I hear compared to Legends, the Rebellion was far more on thin lines against the Empire. It's a miracle that they survived as long as they did during the Galactic Civil War.
I thought Wedge Antilles was in his early 20 in episode IV. Separatist wanted independence because of taxation without representation. humm has a familiar ring to it
Wasn't a story arc where some of them surviving CIS troops STILL active temporarily joined up with some the Rebels... BUT their combined forces at best just slowed most the Imps down an they STILL largely lost the Early and Mid Rebellion days... Until Endor when apparently the 501st went an pissed off the ENTIRE Ewok Nation which then personally decided to back the Rebel Commandos an proceeded to open a fuzzy can of Teddy Bear Whoop Ass.. PRIOR to THIS don't think the Empire LOST a large scale confrontation yet where a SERIOUS Rebel Force actually stayed determined to fight or was forced to BUT in the End won
I believe it's because they take a lot of manpower to control even the factories spread across the galaxy needed manpower to function everything plus what's stopping the droids from having a mind of their own and not turn against the rebellion itself plus it's also possible thousands of battle droids committed genocide during the clone wars and the rebellion didn't have the time nor wanted the responsibility of the droids if something went wrong
Okay sure it makes sense to create an image away from the Confederacy, but it is so extreme handicapped that you wouldn’t have battle droids as support personal rather than a army, considering that will relieve a lot personal for more advanced missions. Look the Confederacy was used by the head of businesses and the Sith, but just the sheer logistical capacity of a support droids will help so much for the Early Rebellion.
They could've just set up their bases in the abandoned factories, and then left all the droids there to hold off the empire so they could escape every time they were found. It's a tactic that would only work as many times as factories in existence, but that might have been long enough to win a war.
What I don't understand is why they didn't think to use it tactically. Obviously there would have been moments where having a droid army to surprise, overwhelm or even just to distract the empire would have been extremely useful for some crucial victories. The tactical uses of having an army of droids are immeasurable in my opinion and could have done real damage to the empire if used correctly.
I see your point but I believe it goes against the analysis presented. You're right that some battles could have been won, but when it comes to public change the rebellion would have lost the war.
@@aldowoah3476 I think you're making the same problematic point. They would have won battles but seeing vulture droids in the air would have brought up the traumas and mistrust of the public and lost them the war in the long run.
Yeah, I really want to see them fighting for their independence once again. I know there was plenty of evil in the CIS, but ultimately many of them just wanted fairness and freedom. I hope they managed to find that with the Rebellion...
Although they did requisition an old Droid Federation control ship, didn't they? 🤔 Old equipment is not always as useless as it first seems. Being less well armed than your opponent is better than unarmed.
TLDR) The droids would have drained them of resources they didn't have, weren't suited to the tactics the rebels favored, and the rebels didn't want a PR disaster.
theres i think 2 droids with a "force connection" but to have the force flow through you, you would need blood muscle and life. things droids do not have. which is why you loose connection with the force during amputation
i do feel like in certain circumstances battle droids could have been used without marring the rebelions intentions the battle of hoth being defensive it could have POTENTIALLY saved more people but idk
I am confused where we get the idea that Stormtroopers are agraid fighying droids because the droids know no fear. We see Stormtroopers bully battle droids in Rebels in one instance but aldo the droids themselves had human like emotions and would avoid combat if they knew it guaranteed their own death.
The Droid army would have small use maybe as distraction force or as holding force it would be a one time use and I wouldn't use the as rebel troops just a weapon to attack a well a military base or if a base was being left still those small use and basilica yes they were useless
Yeah, disagree; it was a useful tool, not a magic bullet. Take Hoth- imagine a droid army moving out to slow down the Imperials instead of sending out Rebels to die in the trenches. Or even if they used small squads, hidden in the snow or bunkers, to slow down the advance of the Imperials (both inside and outside of Echo Base). Granted, the anti-droid sentiment exists- but in desperate situations, you use what you have. And you're telling me that Saw wouldn't consider dropping a battalion of B-1s in a pro-imperial city?
I find claiming them to be antiquated odd. Firstly SW tech is largely stagnant, so they would not be outdated all. Second, the droids already dealt with EMP's etc. So thats not really a relevant point. All other points are fair.
So the rebels where stupid, that makes sense. I get the cost effective thing and the not holding out a large army but come on incorporating a few squads of droids at a time along side regular rebels to bulster there forces would not have been that hard or expensive even if they are useless in smaller numbers just mixing them in with regular troops like having five or six droids backing up 9 or 10 rebels that's not going to break the bank and that's five or six more guns on your side. The whole argument about them not using them because of the clone wars is b******* too. That's like if the US stopped using tanks after world war II because the Nazis used them. It would be straight up stupid Yeah I can see why they wouldn't be using droids on mass as a massive army but that doesn't mean they couldn't use them at all. There's literally no reason they couldn't have used them sparingly in smaller numbers just to bolster their humanoid troops. Again Even if they're not as effective as they would be in an army that's still a few extra guns on your side. They don't have to replace their regular troops with them or bring the mountain massive armies Just like have maybe 10 to 20 droids mixed in with mabie 40 rebels There's no reason they have to put a full army out on the field at one time.
That's a well thought-out explanation of a question I had never considered--which makes it quite engaging. Nice!
Glad it was helpful!

I'd like to see a post-empire series display pirates or the Hutts utilizing battle droids as enforcers. That would be interesting to expand upon
The real reason why the rebels didn’t use droids is because George Lucas wrote episodes 4 before episodes 1-3. He didn’t have the backstory complete in 1977.

I still wish the battle droids would come back one day and be used for good 👍
Freaking awesome video Stupendous love lore videos on the Galactic civil war there just so fascinating
Love this channel and the lore videos seems like nobody does them anymore theroy just hates on Disney so thanks for staying true to your channel
Excellent video. Never thought about that before but I will add that they would lose support from the people.

The Rebel Alliance to Restore the Republic lost a lot of battles but eventually won the war.
0:38 I thought this was going to be a Hamilton quote
imagine the slurs aside from clanker. many still had a sour side toward droids since it was the main bad guys of the clone wars

If the rebels had a maintained venator and starfighter droids then they could probably stand against a single imperial star destroyer
Could have used the droids scarcely for certain missions.
Like commando droids

Day 665 of asking for a part 3 of what if anakin was trained by qui gon
I guess it makes sense but I dunno I'd still keep a couple Commando Droids as private guards.

Galatical ptsd from the clone wars.
How many parents of imperials talked about the Clone Wars
There may also be a possibility to use small groups of b1bs as a distraction
I was just thinking imagine saw gurella using commando Droids for hit and run attacks
Just saw the new video I had to click on it and watch it now as a star wars fan Roger Roger
it would’ve been interesting if they used battle droids considering the clone wars demonizing them the rebellion would’ve lost a lot of credibility
Love that this started as a tactical discussion and then became a cultural one. Very nice.
Glad you enjoyed!
In Legends. The Republic would use Battle Droids when fighting the Yuuzhan Vong...
Yes but they were new ones lando help make specifically for fighting the vong
NNNNNNOOOOOOO
TLDR) The droids would have drained them of resources they didn't have, weren't suited to the tactics the rebels favored, and the rebels didn't want a PR disaster.
Ok so why not just use the commando droids and put them in storm trooper armer
What was the comparison between legends and Canon of General Grievous both backstory, battle tactics and Personal lightsaber styles ?
if the force can inhabit inanimate objects I don't understand why it can't make a droid jedi
