had the previous 2018 model for 2 and half years and done 12000 miles got the new one 2 months ago and done 1200 miles the new one has a lot louder exhaust, has much more in the midrange, a lot smoother to ride quick shifter is better up and down , screen is easier to reed you can change the screen to 4 different looks heated grips are better , its one of those bikes that goes under the radar not the most powerful of the nakeds but no body needs more power then this on the road i had test ridden several of the other bikes and the honda is the best compromise comfort power looks breaking the previous model averaged over 12000 miles 56 uk MPG the new ones seems a little less about 53 Uk MPG over 1200 miles but more midrange and Euro 6 compliant so all good great review it really is a awesome bike
David I saw your comment on the review of the earlier model, thanks for your comments. As you've owned two can I ask how do you find the performance of the headlamp at night? There's a comment in an MCN owner's review about the headlamp not illuminating the road very well. How has the paint work and coatings fared while you've owned them? Being a quality, well finished product appeals. HI'm considering an earlier 2018 model as alternative to a new middleweight twin including the new Hornet.
@@alwarren2653 I've had the 125r at night (same headlight) and the low beam is fair but the high beam doesn't do much at all - essentially a really narrow beam.
Great video Mark. I took my lessons on the CB650R and that was amazing. Definitely a bike I would look at if I had the room and spare money. Ride safe gents.
This bike in Black and the Triumph Speed Twin are favourites of mine for my next bike, which one would you choose from these two if you had too John? saw both in Damerells recently.
Got the cb650r, considering the cb1000r, XSR 900 or Z900 RS as my next bike have to say I'm leaning slightly towards the Z9 due to its more 'conservative' design
What’s the engine braking like? You were at 70 mph at 4000 rpm’s. How does that feel if you let off the gas in top gear? I like a bike that can cruise a little bit at top gear not throw me over the handlebars if I let off the gas
Whats the story with the way those indicators are flashing? When i started my CB650R yesterday morning the indicators started flashing like that for some reason? When i let the bike run for a while the issue seemed to sort itself out but when i was on the road it started happening again so i went home again just in case. I cant drop it into the dealer until the Easter holidays are over and don't really fancy driving around with defective indicators. Great review btw and i am tempted to upgrade to the CB1000R when I've outgrown the 650.
Ohh i just watched it back and seen the caption about the camera picking up the flashing but you can see mine flash with the naked eye. Could be a relay maybe but the bike is pretty new so it should be good or maybe i was just unlucky to get a defective one.
@@tulligman I've had warranty repair work on mine for a failed indicator relay at less than 1500 miles. Water ingress apparently, they reckon it wasn't sealed properly at the factory. Replaced indicator, relay and regressed all connectors apparently
@@CraigParkinson28 I dropped my bike into the dealership last week and they found a fault in a sensor and a fried relay after inspection with only around 4k miles on the clock. At least it was still under warranty so I didn’t have to fork out to get it fixed.Looks like we’ve run into similar trouble. Cheers for the reply Craig.
I can't believe you're going on and on about the exhaust and "engineers know what they're doing" etc - it's all Euro5 garbage that no one wants. At this point manufacturers KNOW that the first thing a buyer is going to do is swap out the garbage stock exhaust for something that's actually good.
Can’t agree about the exhaust. I think it looks hideous. Everything else about the bike is compact and tasteful and it looks like Honda have strapped a Tuba on the side.
Having watched many of your reviews you are normally hard to please Mark. So coming from you this is high praise indeed.

The screen doesn't look reflective with the white background. The

mmmm… but ride safe always.
never ridden the honda but i cant get used to the engine brake on the MT-10
Is that a newer mt10? The Black edition CB has a setting to change engine braking. Great bike!

Oh dear only watched for a minute and two glaring inaccuracies already, must try harder 😟😟😟😟
What were the inaccuracies?
