Its a CB1000/1100. Same review for the last 40 years. Its very well made. Its very reliable. It does everything well. It is very comfortable and very enjoyable to ride. It looks good. Its a Honda. If you gave me one I would keep it. 😁🇨🇦

I've recently returned to biking by buying a 2022 Honda CB650R after 4 years away. Absolutely loving it after 2.5 months and 2,000 miles of summer fun. More power would be fun, so I'm already eyeing up the CB1000R as a possible successor in the future. The 50 bhp hike would be fun without being a maniac, hopefully! Thanks for the video 👍

Such an awesome unit, from what I've seen from previous reviews, most state the need for some extra preload on the shock and has undesirable feeling on the back end from the factory. The black edition is just that extra layer of beauty on an already striking package. Cheers mate, lovely machine.

So glad you're reviewing the updated version, Chopsie. There are so many clowns out there who rarely (if ever) take their bike to the track and base their entire opinion on the published stats, which is laughable. The CB1000r is a beautifully designed, well-made, high-performance roadster that never once professed to be a super-naked. It's stunning to see in person and it is surprisingly affordable for what you get. My only beef is I wish they still offered it in different colors here in the U.S..

For me, the lack of cruise control is what has me scratching my head. They put things like blinker auto cancel, and up and down quick-shift but no CC.🤔

Thanks for another great post Chopsy. Definitely an aesthetically pleasing bike with the usual Honda quality finish. The only thing I'm not keen on is the rear axle rear wheel registration plate holder, just a personal preference, but a tail tidy always looks neater in my opinion. Look forward to the updates.

Great video, I had a pre face lift 2017 model, the seat height is actually quite low and surprisingly narrow for an inline 4. Great bike in the twisties, suspension needs a bit of playing around but that Showa BPF's are old but decent tech. However, I shared the bike with the ex wife, who was only 5"7 and she could get flat footed on the floor. Underrated bikes in my eyes... but I bought one, so I am biased.

I test rode the old cb1000r back in around 2009 after I'd already purchased a street triple and I loved it. I found the engine and gearbox was so slick and responsive that you can really take full advantage of first gear before changing up or down to/from 2nd. It loved to be ridden in the high revs. Was always planning to get one but they stopped bringing them to Australia after 2011. I was really excited when they came out with the new one but was worried it looks too nice to use as a daily commuter so I'll end up feeling like I need to wash it every week. For me it's between CB1000R, GSXS1000, MT09 for a daily commuter. If it were just a leisure bike I'd go for Tuono or Superduke. My street triple got stolen twice within 6 months in 2018 and the 2nd time I didn't get it back. Too scared to get a bike given I don't have secure parking but might be moving this year. If I'm close to work I'll probably just get an ebike and wait until I get my own place with garage then get a superduke to ride on a Sunday when it's not raining.

I love a lot of things on mine, I have a 2023. It’s been about 3 months now. The single swing arm design is beautiful and quick shifter is an absolute treat. I love 3rd gear on the highways. But no cruise control still is surprising to me, the blinker switch for me is in a bad spot and I wish it had just few lbs of torque in the low end. But I still absolutely love the bike and well worth the $12k.

So I have the 21 and will be getting a Woolich tune in a few weeks. This will unleash the full power potential and remove that annoying power flat spot on the mid RPM range, and also can remedy the throttle as it is very restricted, I was told 33% WOT max in first gear...
Everything you say (soft suspension, under tuned and more comfortable power delivery) is absolutely correct and can be fixed, once you get it stiffened it's so much better handling. Combined with a tune this bike WILL be more competitive to supernakeds in it's class

Bikes a usually set up for a light rider, so suspension set up is almost always essential. It should tell you in the user manual what the stock settings are for a rider of a certain weight, in my case it was set up for a rider of about 65kg, so I put my suspension setting to stock and tightened it all up a bit more (preload, compression and damping) as I'm around 20kg heavier.

I just road my friends Z900 RS cafe and was SUPER impressed! Currently riding a 2020 Twin 1200, but kind of outgrew it (and really dislike the lack of any suspension). Mainly twisty road riding and looking at doing 3-4 track days per year.

And yes, Honda improved the engine's mapping for the 2020 from what I've read. So, if you tried a 2019 or 2018, the useful torque was higher up in the powerband. They've basically flattened the torque curve.

I blacked out a lot of the same parts before they came out with the blacked out version which makes it look a whole lot better……which I’m assuming Honda deduced also. It was just to “splotchy” looking with so much silver and black going on. I really like the look of the bike and u don’t see too many so it’s a unique bike for people to see. Hondas build quality is so good (they really know how to make a compact bike) that people always think it’s a 600!

In your experienced opinion what would be the most comfortable naked bike for me? I'm 6' 3" and 18 stone.

Had a first edition almost new ,couldn't live with the feel. After lots of twiddling .
Also sketchy paintwork reviews moved on pretty quick .
Lovely looking bike if you like looking at it but just didn't get it overall.tbh.
Bike has now had over 6 owners now and only maybe 10k miles, says something..
    Good review 👍

Chopsie, when you tested the 2018/19 model you said the headlamp works well. A few owners have said the headlamp doesn't provide very good illumination and have fitted auxiliary lamps that may mess up the looks. How did you find the headlamp's performance riding at night?

Huge congrats on the 100k ! Very well deserved. How does this bike match up against the gsxs1000 ?

nice looking bike chopsy i know what you mean about the pegs and low seat height it reminds me of my z900 which i had a was a very good bike but after in the seat i got cramp in my knees if the seat would have been another 40 mil taller it would have been perfect for me as i am the same build has me .

I had one of these when they came out. The plus version. Worst bike I’ve had and I’ve had many Hondas. The paint scratched on the tank if you washed it and it had rust on the seam. I got caught in the rain once and the clocks were water logged and had to be replaced. The seat had a tear in the cover on the underside but the replacement was worse. The paint on the engine was peeling underneath. It rode well but quality control was a joke. 2 cbr 600, 2 fireblade, 2 vfr750, vfr1200, 2 forza 300, ntv 650, sp1, and this was the last Honda for me.

Yes, Hondas are no longer as reliable as they used to be from all the videos and stories I’ve been listening to. From what I hear many of the parts are from China now.

As I checked your video, I found you have ridden all (CB1000R, GSXS1000 and MT10) but one liter street bike from Japan big four as well as BMWS1000R. How would you comment on their difference and characters and wish you can give some thorough review and verdict after future testing on Kawasaki Z1000.

Was considering this then I bought the rs765. Being similar in size I'm now thinking either the speed or s1000r m sport next ill give this a miss 🤔

You're correct about taller riders. I own this bike. 2021 version and I'm 6 ft tall. Slightly cramped. Not bad but it's a thing. Other than that.. love it. I bought an adventure bike (1290 super adventure) a year after buying this CB1000R and unfortunately, the CB just sits in the garage now. 🤔

Had one as a loan bike back in 19 or 20, and never worked out the green light thing 😁
The bike was pretty axing though, smooth and powerful - but I found the rear seat cowl just buzzed my arse all the time

There is a few settings for that light... the best setting is off. Mine just goes red for the fuel light.

Congratulations on 100K, lots of hard work to get there.
Followed Andy Man Cams journey with his and there were issues and think he's sold.
For me, a similar size and weight to you, the MT10 wins on comfort for the bigger boned man.
    Hate the rear end styling
Thanks for the review but not for me.

I was going to have a good look at this but Honda Australia stopped bringing them in. I’m now on a GSXS 1000GT due to lack of that choice 😅

Wish Honda would make version of this that can compete with the rest of the Hypernakeds, (180hp or more). Would be nice to have something with more grunt that isn't near or over $20k. A CB1000RR perhaps.

I took one out for a test ride after I’d basically already decided on a speed triple 1200. The Speedy is probably a better bike all round but I love the cb1000 for how smooth and easy it is
