    Its a CB1000/1100. Same review for the last 40 years. Its very well made. Its very reliable. It does everything well. It is very comfortable and very enjoyable to ride. It looks good. Its a Honda. If you gave me one I would keep it. 😁🇨🇦

    I've recently returned to biking by buying a 2022 Honda CB650R after 4 years away. Absolutely loving it after 2.5 months and 2,000 miles of summer fun. More power would be fun, so I'm already eyeing up the CB1000R as a possible successor in the future. The 50 bhp hike would be fun without being a maniac, hopefully! Thanks for the video 👍

    So glad you're reviewing the updated version, Chopsie. There are so many clowns out there who rarely (if ever) take their bike to the track and base their entire opinion on the published stats, which is laughable. The CB1000r is a beautifully designed, well-made, high-performance roadster that never once professed to be a super-naked. It's stunning to see in person and it is surprisingly affordable for what you get. My only beef is I wish they still offered it in different colors here in the U.S..

      For me, the lack of cruise control is what has me scratching my head. They put things like blinker auto cancel, and up and down quick-shift but no CC.🤔

    I’ve put 20,000 km on my black edition and I love it. For me the rear shock is the weakest link and I put an ohlins rear on it and it transformed the ride completely. I also have a z900rs with 65,000 km and I’m always torn between which one I want to ride more. Get this above 6000 rpm and the fun starts.

    Such an awesome unit, from what I've seen from previous reviews, most state the need for some extra preload on the shock and has undesirable feeling on the back end from the factory. The black edition is just that extra layer of beauty on an already striking package. Cheers mate, lovely machine.

    Great video, I had a pre face lift 2017 model, the seat height is actually quite low and surprisingly narrow for an inline 4. Great bike in the twisties, suspension needs a bit of playing around but that Showa BPF's are old but decent tech. However, I shared the bike with the ex wife, who was only 5"7 and she could get flat footed on the floor. Underrated bikes in my eyes... but I bought one, so I am biased.

    I had the Black 2018. I found it to be one of the best finished motorcycles I ever owned. Really great looking bike. You have to answer a lot of questions riding this bike from uninformed cyclists asking if you made it yourself. They aren't that common here in the states. One negative, the first three gears had a throttle position sensor override in the map that had nothing to do with TC being on or off. It simply softened the delivery of power in the lower 3 gears to the point it wasn't all the exciting UNTIL you rev'd past 7k. If you put it into 3rd at 35mph then do a roll on and then put it into 4th at 35mph and do a roll on you will feel more grunt in 4th. This needs to be removed from the motorcycle by some fueling exorcism reflash.

      Yeah my 2021 is the same, not sure if the euro bikes are the same but the North American ones for sure are too neutered down low. Finally last week woolich cracked the ecu code so people can start tuning them now. Other than the soft rear suspension the lack of down low grunt has been my bigggest gripe. What did you trade your bike for?

    • @tdeloriea
      @tdeloriea ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KB-yj5xp A 2022 XSR900. Funny thing is, the 2nd gear on it has the same issue. It does pull really hard once it revs. But 3rd is free of the neutered treatment. Quite frankly the bike is a hoot. I posted a couple shot videos on my channel.

    I love a lot of things on mine, I have a 2023. It’s been about 3 months now. The single swing arm design is beautiful and quick shifter is an absolute treat. I love 3rd gear on the highways. But no cruise control still is surprising to me, the blinker switch for me is in a bad spot and I wish it had just few lbs of torque in the low end. But I still absolutely love the bike and well worth the $12k.

    I test rode the old cb1000r back in around 2009 after I'd already purchased a street triple and I loved it. I found the engine and gearbox was so slick and responsive that you can really take full advantage of first gear before changing up or down to/from 2nd. It loved to be ridden in the high revs. Was always planning to get one but they stopped bringing them to Australia after 2011. I was really excited when they came out with the new one but was worried it looks too nice to use as a daily commuter so I'll end up feeling like I need to wash it every week. For me it's between CB1000R, GSXS1000, MT09 for a daily commuter. If it were just a leisure bike I'd go for Tuono or Superduke. My street triple got stolen twice within 6 months in 2018 and the 2nd time I didn't get it back. Too scared to get a bike given I don't have secure parking but might be moving this year. If I'm close to work I'll probably just get an ebike and wait until I get my own place with garage then get a superduke to ride on a Sunday when it's not raining.

    @scottamolinari ปีที่แล้ว

    And yes, Honda improved the engine's mapping for the 2020 from what I've read. So, if you tried a 2019 or 2018, the useful torque was higher up in the powerband. They've basically flattened the torque curve.

  • @denominatorxero720

    So I have the 21 and will be getting a Woolich tune in a few weeks. This will unleash the full power potential and remove that annoying power flat spot on the mid RPM range, and also can remedy the throttle as it is very restricted, I was told 33% WOT max in first gear...
    Everything you say (soft suspension, under tuned and more comfortable power delivery) is absolutely correct and can be fixed, once you get it stiffened it's so much better handling. Combined with a tune this bike WILL be more competitive to supernakeds in it's class

    I had one of these when they came out. The plus version. Worst bike I’ve had and I’ve had many Hondas. The paint scratched on the tank if you washed it and it had rust on the seam. I got caught in the rain once and the clocks were water logged and had to be replaced. The seat had a tear in the cover on the underside but the replacement was worse. The paint on the engine was peeling underneath. It rode well but quality control was a joke. 2 cbr 600, 2 fireblade, 2 vfr750, vfr1200, 2 forza 300, ntv 650, sp1, and this was the last Honda for me.

    I have the 2018 version with 20k miles. I blacked out a lot of the same parts before they came out with the blacked out version which makes it look a whole lot better……which I’m assuming Honda deduced also. It was just to “splotchy” looking with so much silver and black going on. I really like the look of the bike and u don’t see too many so it’s a unique bike for people to see. I tried to adjust my 2021 suspensions and no matter what I did, it is not suitable for my taste.
    Let us know how you deal with this after your adjustments.
    I agree that the engine, the exhaust sound, the looks, the handling are all superb but suspensions is not quite right.

    • @Maverick-moto
      @Maverick-moto ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve found exactly the same problem. I’ve had my forks revalved by Maxton and a new Maxton rear shock. It doesn’t affect the ride quality much, although it’s definitely a bit more compliant. However it’s transformed the handling. It’s completely eliminated the vague feeling from the front end entering a bend, and the bike can now cope with ‘B’ roads.

    Wish Honda would make version of this that can compete with the rest of the Hypernakeds, (180hp or more). Would be nice to have something with more grunt that isn't near or over $20k. A CB1000RR perhaps.

    Great video! In the market for a new bike. Was looking at this, the Z900 RS cafe, and the Speed Triple. Any thoughts on the CB1000 vs these other ones? I just road my friends Z900 RS cafe and was SUPER impressed! Currently riding a 2020 Twin 1200, but kind of outgrew it (and really dislike the lack of any suspension). Mainly twisty road riding and looking at doing 3-4 track days per year.

    Definitely a bike I have always admired however the seat and leg position was too much for my liking at 68 years old an issue which you discussed I always thought it was more about roadster then super bike and even after all that I have said I would love to have one I’m similar dimensions to you so this was a relevant review and really well done 👍 ❤

    Congratulations on 100K, lots of hard work to get there.
    Followed Andy Man Cams journey with his and there were issues and think he's sold.
    For me, a similar size and weight to you, the MT10 wins on comfort for the bigger boned man.
    Hate the rear end styling
    Thanks for the review but not for me.

    Test rode one of these last summer. Nice bike, size wise it felt more like a 600 to me, but with much more power. I loved it but the riding position was a bit too cramped for me. I preferred the MT-10 which I test rode the day before.

    Solid initial review as usual Chopsy. I do have a question for you: I’m 6’6 285lbs and am looking for a super sport bike. I know you’ve ridden nearly all of them. Which one do you find to be the most comfortable from an ergonomics standpoint? My legs are about 35” so my biggest issue is footpeg height or I guess I might have to get an adapter to drop them slightly in a worse case scenario.
    I know you’ve liked the S1000RR for comfort in the super sport category as well as your GSX-R 1000. Any thoughts would be most appreciated! :)

    • @LambChopRides
      @LambChopRides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The S1000RR is the most comfortable sportsbike out there without question. You may have to drop the pegs slightly however as with your long legs nothing is going to fit comfortably 😉

    Wouldn’t touch one with yours Chops! Utterly loved mine, but the longer rides were tough. It’s rain comfy at first, like you found, but after an hour or two the tight legs and slight forward lean gave me tremendous knee and shoulder pain. Worst of all though was the combo of terrible quality paintwork (Camembert based paint, i believe) and Honda’s lack of interest in fixing it for me. My fault for getting it wet! All that lovely black will look like a dogs dinner within a year if the bike is actually used. £13k might also not sound much, but considering I got a 3 grand discount and STILL managed to lose almost 4 grand in 2 years, tells me that this bike is still overpriced for what you get. Especially considering there’s still no cruise control and the same rear shock that the original CB1000R had back in 2008. Not fully adjustable, not worth having. Good luck getting any useable performance out of that bouncer mate!! 😂 Such a shame really. With the delicious power delivery and not insane power specs, it could have been a stonker of a machine.

    I’m sure I’d seen somewhere this model was due a major overhaul later this year, maybe wrong. I really like these as a bike but surprisingly my last Honda was a joke quality wise so won’t be running back in a hurry.
