To compliment your description of how we treat our phones. I met someone(4 month after my purchase) who bought their phone 1 month before me. Their screen protector had already separated down the crease(after only 5 months of ownership!?), for me its been 2.5 years and I am just now having to take my protector off due to separation. This other person would literately open/close about every 3 minutes(they had odd reasoning). Thank you for covering the "down the road" outcome of keeping protector off, it makes me feel more confident in the use going forward.
Great video. My phone started peeling from the middle of the screen. Eventually there became a tunnel for dust/lint/etc. The last thing I want is my screen breaking because I closed the phone with dust layered on the adhesive. Watched this and your removal video. So far so good.
I just took the plunge and snatched off my Fold 4 screen protector. Well, i geeennntlyyyyy peeled it off. If memory serves, i also removed my Fold 2 screen protector a while back with no ill effects. I'm fairly gentle with my electronic devices. I very rarely drop them or expose them to moisture or extreme temperatures. Wish me luck...
Every 3 months I needed to replace the inner screen protector. I removed the screen protector and it's true the screen is way more clear and feels better than before. I'll leave it without screen protector for a week and I'll decide if I should put a new one.
Hola!
Thanks bro, I bought one from swappa, seller stated no scratches on inner screen but it did have a couple of ugly deep scratches (I usually don't care for micro ones that don't show up w/screen on), it was also showing some kind of micro cracking at the crease which looked pretty bad. I was panicking and thinking or trying to return because of misleading description but removed the screen protector after watching your video and looks as good as NEW! The "micro cracking" at the crease was only the screen protector. Hopefully it holds up overtime!
Glad it was mostly the screen protector. That would have been really bad if it was otherwise. More or less just remember not to put anything hard between the screen and I think you should be okay.
@@WIHRC thank you! yeah it would have been bad if the actual UTG was broken. I'll be careful to not have anything in there while closing it, hopefully it holds up!

I'm going to see if I can get a replaced with either the IQ inner screen protector I got from Amazon, or one of the official Samsung repair shops. Just posting here because your videos are basically the reason I decided to do so myself. Had my fold four for for a year and a half and this is the only problem I've had with it. Since they is so little information out there I figured posting a comment here will at the minimum serve at some point of data entry in the community analysis of this specific problem.
@@WIHRC yeah so far so good on day one with no inner screen protector. I did hear from the guy that the fold 5 has less problems in the fold 4? But who knows.
@@WIHRC inner screen protector plan was of big fail. I'm just going to go with no inner screen protector life. Is it still holding up strong on your end? Aside from being gentle with it, got any other advice to help prevent inner screen damage?
I no longer have my Fold 4, but it was absolutely perfect with no issues on the main display until I traded it in. Besides being gentle with it, I can't say much. Most of the times we worry about external force to any of the parts, but even doing something like closing the main display hard enough can damage the phone since the energy from that force is spread around the parts in the device. If it has nowhere to go, then I think that's when you get broken main displays. At least that's my theory on it.
Hi there. I was waiting for another opinion on the matter after I removed the plastic about a year ago. I've had no issues whatsoever. However, I have not used the stylus to avoid any damage from the tip (albeit I have the original pen). Do you use the pen on a regular basis?
I do indeed use the S Pen frequently. I believe the only time it's going to be an issue is when you're pressing down and making the pen tip retract if you're using the old pen. The newer pen does work it's just that the case won't fit on an older device.
I just removed mine while watching. I had my first protector replaced and it peeled within the week. So I had it replaced again and it lasted half a year and started to bubble a month ago. And today it had that giant air bubble in the middle so thank you very much for these updates to give me the confidence to just get rid of it.
Hi there great video, my screen protector has crease in the middle and has air bubbles and making poping sound, it comes and goes, but until starting to peel off, then I'll remove it. Looks ugly, but worried will create damage pixels by keeping it on?....do you know by chance?
I can't necessarily confirm that it does damage the screen per se but my thought on this is that since the screen protector starts to stick to itself when it is separating from the display, it might be pulling on the thin glass of the main display each time it's opened and closed. This is why after having this issue as many times as I have, i just decided to remove it and be without one.
I had issues with the fold three. It got sent back twice to replace the film or protector because it was cracking. Then I took the film off because I wasn't going to send it back for the third time. Then the screen went completely black and was unresponsive. The question is, when the screen starts to peel and I remove it can I use a replacement screen protector that I can get off Amazon. Isn't that what Samsung's doing when I send it back? They're just replacing the film screen protector. I'd rather get it from Amazon than have to keep sending it back. Thanks for your input
You can definitely get a replacement from Amazon or anywhere. The only potential issue will be if the screen protector isn't set perfectly (it isn't perfectly adhere to the display and more so the crease) it could potentially come off again since it would sort of catch on to itself when folding. The reason I just stopped worrying about the protector is because one of the only places that had it was the flagship Samsung store in New York and since I don't live there anymore I couldn't get it done. When deciding to remove it I think the key is to really be as intricate as possible since the full screen has its touch sensor element much closer than most other screens. Removing the screen protector in any way other than slow and easy could potentially damage that screen but all in all I personally would always go without it when it comes off because it's just that much of a hassle to put a new one on. Of course I'm not saying you should do this just sharing my opinion.
My Update after 6 Months without screen protector: Everything was perfect, but last week i started to notice a fine line at the middle, i can see it because it looks colorized and its getting larger. I dont know whats gonna happen whe it covers all the middle flex.
Makes me wonder why they didn't build this extra layer of protection into the entire display assembly. Screen protectors commonly lift at the edges unless you have a case that covers and pins down the edges of the screen protector. It would made more sense for the screen protector's edges to be inside the frame of the device. The display edges move under the frame when opening and closing the device. Debris caught between the edge of the screen protector and the frame will cause the edges to lift up. So this problem will not go away with a new screen protector. Based on what happened to me and others who shared their experiences with this, we have about 10 months before the screen protector starts to lift and the device stops opening at 180°. Samsung replaced my screen protector and hinge. I didn't even know that the hinge was bad. My device never opened completely flat. Now that I got it back, it does lay perfectly flat like Fold 5 and Pixel Fold. The technician said that it should have been at 180° from the start. The crease is also significantly reduced. The sight gap in the Fold 4 is also smaller than before the repair. At this point, it is very hard to tell the difference between the Fold 4 and the Fold 5. So if your phone doesn't open at 180°, it is defective according to what happened to me.
I appreciate you sharing all of your insights on this. It would definitely behoove them to go with what you explained in your idea, but the only reason they don't is to make it harder for us but easier for them to get money. Either way, their support practices have been darn near abysmal for years, and the biggest thing that sucks is that we are stuck having to figure things out.

Hay man how's it holding up? I literally removed the protector from my fold 3 just a minute ago. I bought it completely brand new and sealed just one week ago. Put a speck presidio case to protect it, and a couple of days ago, I saw very very small bubbles on top and bottom of the screen near the crease, nothing really concerning. I went to lunch today, read some ebook and saw this video, put some music and closed the phone. After less than an hour I opened it and to my surprise I saw the screen protector all lifted with an air bubble across the entire crease. Totally unacceptable from Samsung. Since this is an old model and bought from a third party seller I'm guessing Samsung will not cover anything. Like I said the phone was totally brand new and sealed, not renewed or anything like that. It even came with android 11 and in less than a week the screen protector failed. It's not even super cold here and I'm wondering if the case had to do anything with it. When I close the phone, it's like the phone won't fully close or stays tight if you know what I mean. It's just a bit loose when closed. If I remove the case I can close it normally and it has more resistance when I'm trying to open it. I think I'm moving to a protective pouch instead of a case. I just hope the screen resists without the protector, I truly baby this phone and I'm just using it to read ebooks, comics and magazines, android emulation and web browsing, my main phone is a regular candy bar phone. Anyway thanks for the video and by the way, it way super easy to remove the protective film once bubbled, I folded the screen about 45 degrees so just a small portion of the protectos was lifted from the actual screen and then I carefully used a guitar pick to remove it.

Got it. I hear you. I dont think there will be any particular problems. If everything is working right now you should be okay. Yes i traded it to Samsung for the Fold 5. Im expecting the same thing to happen with it but i will just remove the screen protector when it happens.
@@WIHRC If all fine, i ll take the Fold 6. Thank you for the awnser.👍
@DerMischke Hopefully, it works out and no worries, you're welcome
My screen is peeling and a new 3rh party replacement is coming in a week.
I dont want to peel it untim i do the replacement buy im not opening and i want to use it in the meantime.
I feel your pain on this. You definitely have more patience than I do. I wouldn't be able to not use the inner display. Hopefully things go smooth when your screen protector replacement gets there
Can you still use spen if it does not have a screen protector?
I was using g my S Pen without one. I've always used it lightly on the display, never pressing to hard, which might be an issue without a screen protector.
Thanks for your vidéo. Bubles appear on my zfold3 screen protector and I think that I will take it off
Glad that the videobwas helfpul.
Thanks
