"I passionately hate camera bumps." I get it buddy. That little wobble when you lay it flat is just annoying to me. Just gimme a slightly thicker phone with a bigger battery. It's one of my reasons for a always using a case that makes sure that my phone can lay flat.
Once you put a case on it, isn't it flat again? That space is used by the case. If that phone was actually that thicc you'd be carrying around an actual brick.
If the phone was thick enough to not have a giant camera bulge, it could have had enough room in the chassis for the stylus, and a headphone jack, and expandable storage.
The biggest holdup I have with getting a Galaxy Fold(or folding phone in general) is seen pretty easily in this video. It's not how nice the Fold 6 is, it's what the Fold 4 looks like after 2 years. That's true mate. I had a fold 4 which ran into issues multiple times. Both my screen went black after 1 year of usage. I switched to s24 ultra now when it ran into another issue where my BT and wifi stopped working everytime when I was on cover display.
Likewise. If the thing could last around 3 years before issues, I'd be more inclined to look into these. Especially now the Fold 6 is even more expensive than the 5 too, it's harder to justify jumping in. 5 seems to be holding up so far from what I've seen however.
@@Alex-zi1nb mine didn't show any issues until it ran out of warranty 🤣. The after warranty issues changed my whole perspective. I know that z folds are just in a different league but its just about the long term durability that concerns me after paying a hefty price
Conversely, my Fold 2 is still completely fine. I replaced the inner screen protector because it started bubbling up a bit around the crease recently, and that's it. Still folds flat, doesn't creak, no cracks, just a few microscratches on the cover screen around the edges. All this despite having dropped it a few times (while closed, fortunately). That said, I probably won't get a new Fold unless it's on a deep discount or my 2 completely breaks down. These prices are absurd. (I also got the 2 on a discount.) I also wouldn't take my anecdote for evidence that these things are tanks - they're obviously more fragile than non-folding phones, so if you've ever managed to break a regular phone, stay way the hell away.
The fold 4 should have had a recall. I have the 3 and mine goes basically flat still while my step father has the 4 and looks exactly like yours. INSANE.
I have a Fold 2 and it also doesn't open entirely. They told me that they have to change the inside screen and the hinge cause it's one assembly, and it'd cost €600. I didn't do it cause I was hoping the Fold 6 would be a bigger upgrade than the 5. Maybe I should wait for the new One+ and Google foldables.
@@AnotherComputer I have the 3 and my hinge broke, would only open to about 160 degrees, and was told the hinge and inner screen are a single unit and it would be $600 to repair. So I waited for the 6 to be reveled and saw little to no upgrade and went with the 5 from a prime day deal
Fold 4 is the most broken samsung fold ever. I myself have had 2 fold 4 bend halfway on me. On the other hand fold 5 have aged so nicely for so many people. You can't even find a single fold 5 that doesn't open flat online. Fold 4 had some issues with it bristles that got stuck in hinge and lead to it not opening fully. But since fold 5 those issues have been resolved entirely and they are lasting way longer than the previous.
Mainly the reason why they made the trade - in deals from the 4 to the 5 so amazing last year. Gets the 4's out of circulation, reducing the repairs. Heard from a friend who works at odido that the flip 4 had a massive return/failure rate and as a result, the 5 didnt sell as well, but had virtually no returns/failures. So something deffo changed.
This is kinda why I decided to upgrade from the 4 to a 6. My fold 4 had an issue earlier in the year where it didn't seem like it kept it's charge as well as it used to and seemed to run hotter than it used to and the screen wasn't staying on and it wouldn't connect to my wifi and according to the internet, it was likely an issue with the hinge cables and it was sounding like it was a fairly common problem with the fold 4. I've heard that the fold 5 seemed to iron out those issues so even though I didn't necessarily want to upgrade, I figured it would be worth the slight upgrades + the piece of mind. Assuming that many of the issues the fold 4 seemed to have have been mostly fixed, I should be using this phone for about as long as the planned support is.
@@phoenixwright784 I got my flip 6 earlier today. Went to some shops to try the flip 5 a few weeks ago and this screen feels much nicer FWIW. Like, you'd trust it more if that makes sense.
Goes to show how long term reviews are really important for phones especially the foldables. I could never jump the gun on a brand new phone without waiting out half a year for issues to pop up
Fold 4s not opening all the way is a very common issue. I happened to mine 1 year in. I've switched to the OnePlus open and I'm loving the wider cover screen.
Can confirm. I just got mine repaired by Samsung due to not opening flat after 1.5 years. Luckily free as it is covered by the two year warranty in Europe. I'll never get a Samsung fold again though. Their hinges still suck in 4th generation and likely are still the same with the fold 6
I had to have mine fixed for that after 1.5 years. Samsung can go F themselves for not giving European owners of the Fold 4 any decent trade-in deals to upgrade to the Fold 6. I'm not paying 1800 € (including shitty trade in for Fold 4) to get like 90% the same phone.
Apparently the brushes that should've kept dust out were getting stuck due to the glue dissolving after time. In the Flip 6 at least they've gotten rid of the brushes all together and I assume one the Fold 6 as well (source: latest JerryRigEverything video)
For a second there I thought that the title said "my 2-year-old Ford is so much worse" but then I looked at the thumbnail and thought "There's no way that he is comparing a car to a phone." I HAD to look at the title again xD
I literally did the same thing, transferred my Fold 4 to my new Fold 6. What a difference.... But I also updated my Watch 4 to a Watch 7 and HOLY CRAP that was a generational perf boost
@QuantumConundrum 7 makes the 4 feel like a prototype. No lag, better display, way faster charging. I think the lack of lag and better display actually makes it the most efficient way to do certain actions like checking the weather, using spotify, calling people, starting workouts, and making payments (especially since opening and checking my Fold 5 was faster than checking on the GW4, but the GW7 is much faster than unfolding the Fold 5).
I just cant get over the price increase for such minimal improvement. Especially when the compition have similar spec devices for a fraction of the cost
Snapdragon chipset, All metal build, pixel fold has no support for certain apps, one plus open isn't there yet either, plus support for samsung is just better and they're trying to avoid charging subscription fees for services unlike Google
@@summernightlavvy9771 What do you mean by OnePlus open isnt there yet. The open is much more finished product than the fold. Samsung has inflated its price horribly and added "ai" thats just shit marketing and comes with the new snapdragons npu.
You 100% have to get good insurance for folding phones. Replaced my fold 4 and 5 multiple times because the hinge wouldn't fold flat anymore, only cost me $100 to get new ones
@@piggasauros yeah I mean I'm not about to argue they're the most durable phones but this is very eyebrow raising. The 4 had a bad hinge design but the 5 was pretty rock solid, I had zero issues with mine. Never once bought insurance and got both my 4s replaced under warranty.
I totally agree. Battery life is one of the biggest sore points with foldables right now. None of the manufacturers seem to care about anything but making the devices thinner or cramming in "AI". It'd be nice if they focused on general user experience.
Yeah. 7 might get that quality change of life, but honestly, wait like 2-3 more years for any of those things mentioned (better cameras, no camera bump, bigger battery capacity/longer time being used, and give it like 1 more 1mm width etc). Cuz so far, ai is the main focus and shipping point samsung trying to do which isn't even much.
@LaidBackDeveloper I'm not sticking a thick ass folded phone in my pocket lol I don't mind the bump, plus I never lay my phone flat when using it anyways. It's usually in my hand or propped up watching videos. I do get the want for a flat phone for some people but this just the size imo.
0:05 So a $2000 phone only lasts 2 years. Nice. My 5 year old S20 Ultra is still doing fine after almost 5 years, and I will be keeping it a while longer.
"So a $1.000.000 house only lasts 1 day (if you blow it up with explosives). Nice." See how stupid that is? Without knowing how something is used (or abused), there is no indication of quality. You can leave the crappiest phone of all time in a box for 10 years, and only trickle charge it to keep the battery alive, then the crappiest phone of all time lasts 10 years. Does that mean it's good? Of course not.
@@timderks5960 except elijah didn't intentionally destroy his phone. in the video he was being careful make sure he doesn't break the inner screen. that indicates the phone became like that from 2 years of normal usage. that would be like a house falling down after only 5 years of you living in it. maybe use your brain a little next time.
Agree regarding camera bumps. I hate them with a passion too. My Fold 4 has the same hinge issue, though not as severe. For me it happened immediately following the device overheating while charging, would no longer unfold completely and the screen protector bubbled up when previously it had shown no signs of bubbling. Guessing that the heat softened the adhesive and allowed the bristles to move inside the hinge and get trapped. As for the screen protector, it's almost like the heating and cooling shrank it a little because it seemed like the screen protector was slightly too small to stay adhered to the screen while unfolded, like it was being pulled taut instead of being loose enough to follow the curve of the display. On a $1900 USD phone, the fact that they haven't upgraded the cameras to at least match those on their flagship non-folding phones is absolutely CRAZY. But the fact that they haven't upgraded them AT ALL for 2 generations is even more appalling.
0:57 as much as i hate camera bumps too, i think people will criticize the thickness of the phone if they made it that thick. Especially once you fold it up
yes having handeled lots of folding phones for work, this is the only one i might consider using, the tickeness is actually less than a S23 ultra with a case
@@f.i.b3027 I fail to see what saying that people wouldn't criticize a phone for being thick enough that it doesn't need a camera bump if no one had ever made a phone to thin to fit the camera without a bump, has to do with controlling smart phone makers.
@@t1m3f0x I'm not saying that you are wrong about your statement; just that it is not realistic, as smartphones' thinness is the reason why they are slip into your pocket fairly well.
I love my fold6, better than the early showcases made it out to be. I have to look for the crease rather than avoid it. The screen is so much better outside. The thinner/lighter is actually noticable for ease of use. The wider aspect ratios make a lot of difference without being the pixel wide over height.
My S9+ might get to 7 years. But it won't be getting updated. So it's nice to know for those of us who don't update our phone every other year that it'll still get updates
so even if the phone doesn't hold up for 7 years, this still means people can still buy the 6 when the 8 or even 10 come out and still have a couple good years of a phone.
I've had my Z fold 4 since launch and my hinge is okay. I don't take it to places where there's a lot of dust and I periodically clean the phone and hinge. I've always used cases like the spigen armor or Dbrand's grip case for the hinge protection and it seems to hold up.
Exactly why camera bumps make sense. If you're going to have a thick case on anyway might as well take advantage of the space with a bigger camera to make it flush with the case.
@@nellyx8051 i kinda dont want the camera flush with the case though, that means its less protected if i drop my phone in, say, gravel where the surface can reach up and into the camera opening area of the case

I'm glad they had someone who actually has a fold do the review, rather than Riley who would have just trolled and questioned why it exists. The same hinge problems are the reason I haven't taken the risk of getting one, but it's nice to see his opinions comparing the new to his experience with the 4. Hopefully it keeps getting better where there's more trust in how long it will last.
"My old one didn't last, can't wait to buy another one" is like the worst selling point for me it proves the product/company isn't worth buying or keeping because it's hoping that the company who you know made a product that didn't last changes even though they know they can purposely do it to sell units
"Why not make the phone that thick?" - in relation to camera bump I want to preface this by saying I'm an advocate for bigger batteries... on regular slab phones... to a degree. We've settled on around 7-9mm for the thickness for those. Less is silly while more is cumbersome. The latter is where we're at with foldable. It's for that reason I think the race for getting that specific category of smartphones to an acceptable thinness is a good thing. Like yeah, they should have better batteries. I'm not arguing against that but I do think getting foldable to semi-weildable state is what should take priority over making them thicker than they already are currently. Just hope they don't sacrifice MORE battery to get there.
Ive gone from Fold 2 to Fold 4 to Fold 6. Completely disagree about filling out the thickness till the camera bump is flush!. I want it thinner and lighter! Battery life gains should be from efficiency. Elimination of camera bumps should be from periscope tech etc. Not brute force fattening. On a table it's easier to pick up, or it's in fold mode with the flat face down on the table, so don't mind the bump. The thinner in hand feel makes a massive difference for me.
I agree with the increasing thickness to remove the camera bump and give extra battery. Especially on a phone like the Z Fold where it's bulky anyway and being able to lay it down flat on a table to take notes would be super helpful
That hinge is covered under 2 year warranty. Just get it fixed for free, feels like a new phone. As part of the repair they need to replace the inner screen and battery as well anyway so its really is like a new phone!
I upgraded from Fold4 to Fold6 and I can feel the difference between the two every time I pick it up or unfold it. Only a daily driver can tell you how big of a change it is from old Folds.
Honestly, this. Every time I see a tech youtube say they've barely changed anything, it makes me realize they're basically just looking at the spec sheet. When I upgraded to the Fold 6, I expected it to basically be the same, but it feels completely different. Actually really happy with the 6.
My fold4 was in the same state as yours, not folding flat, put me off really and went back to a normal phone. For sure not a one off I was more shocked it happened in such a short time.
Not all the folding phones use the same kind of hinge. The pixel fold for example has large thick hinges at the top and bottom of the screen. They are less likely to be affected by dirt and debris compared to the long thin flat hinge in Samsung phone. You do end up with large screen bezels.
I have a Fold 4 (the same phone) that I got on launch day and it's still in perfect condition, and I'm not very careful with my phones. So, your mileage may vary.
@@QuantumConundrum It will never be. These phones are designed to fail, the perfect product to keep you upgrading until you decide not to buy it. Plastic (and supposedly glass) is not meant to bend like this over and over and over. The hinge may be fine, the display won't ever be.
What's worse, fold 4 was the one where they upgraded the hinge. It was supposed to be the one not to look like this after a year. I mean, they succeeded. It's 1.5yrs old.
@@TimoNoko 😳 now that is slow charging well unless you’re using it for something like a vape or smart watch charger, my brother in law has a dual 2.5W USB brick and I had to use it to charge my Apple Watch one time and it actually went from dead to full in like 2 hours so not too terrible for that
My fold 4 had the same squeaky hinge opening and it wasn't opening flat as well. Returned it to Samsung and got a normal s24 ultra. Miss the big canvas though
Well guess What. Your S24 Ultras Screen has about 400.000 Pixels (Thats 10%)more then the inner Fold Screen does. Folds are Just BIGGER AND MORE EXPENSIVE AND LESS DURABLE AND LESS PERFORMANT IN EVERY SINGLE WAY.
Funny thing... My Fold 4 hinge just went bad today, just like yours at 0:11. Out of the blue, never had a slight problem before. I just opened it regularly today and a sticky string came out of the back of the hinge, and now it won't open. Yeah, thanks Samsung. I'm going to switch to Xiaomi or Honor foldable :)
Currently watching this on a fold 5. Ive had mine for over a year now and its been the best phone ive ever owned. The inner screen works perfectly and the hinge still lays flat with no issues.
Elijah, not to mention if they make it that little thicker to not need a camera bump, they would then not have an excuse not to include a headphone jack.
I own a Fold 5 and this is imo a perfect phone No issues no bend issue, no hinge drama, just fast smooth and cool. Now my hinge is making slight noise but that's too be expected. I rock it caseless, so my only issue is.. add a spen slot in the phone Outside of that, fold 5 is nearly perfect(minor heating issues and canera needs works) I'll hold until the fold 7
@milkqt666 😂😂 not how that works at all lol I throw my s22 ultra all the time. Upgrading from the Fold 3 was a HUGE upgrade. Totally worth. Three years is the sweet spot. I also LOVE the squared off screen corners. Made me realize how absurd curved phone screen corners have become.
Galaxy AI as a selling point is such a scam. All it is is a software update that they absolutely could push to older devices, and literally have for devices getting updates😐😒

Honestly at this point I couldn't give a crap about included chargers & cables because I bought my own higher quality ones years ago that I still use to this day. Except for a pair of usb c headphones that I got with my galaxy... note 10? I believe. That's one thing I actually do miss. I haven't gotten around and bought a pair of good headphones for my phone yet and the samsung ones are starting to wear out.
Elijah is not alone in the issues with the 4 - I had the same and had it repaired once. The core of the issue is actually the little brushes which are meant to keep debris out of the hinge were coming unglued and getting stuck in the mechanism. With that said, it seemed way less prevalent with the 5 and the build quality of the 6 gives my high hopes. I upgraded because samsung gave me $1000 CAD trade in credit for my 4 on top of other really nice discounts, and so far so good. Ultimately time will tell.
I never heard anyone have a take like that instead of having thicker camera housing on the back make the entire phone that thick and put in a bigger battery that's actually an excellent idea lol
my fold 4 did the same thing, luckily I was able to use my carriers protection plan to get it replaced free of charge. I can only hope the hinge will get more and more resistant to wear and tear from dust over time. This is the one of the few devices where I think an extended warranty/insurance is essential.
I had the exact same hinge issue with my Z fold 3. After a year in a half it wouldn't open fully and the internal screen and screen protector had started to crack. I have a gut feeling the hinge going bad is in no small part due to running the phone caseless and isn't expressly Samsung's fault, but I could be wrong, since more gunk and dust could creep into the mechanism over time. I've had the pixel fold for about a year, and it looks and functions like new, not even a scratch on the internal display and the hinge is still buttery smooth. I do, however, use the Dbrand Grip case on it, which entirely covers the hinge mechanism both opened and closed. I'm getting my z fold 6 tomorrow, and I'm hoping it holds up for at least a year or two.
Wow I'm surprised they are at 6 already. I have the Fold 3 and its a nearly perfect device. I'm hoping to never upgrade since it does everything I need but obviously it will force me to eventually. Glad to see when the day comes I do have to upgrade at least the same format will be available.
I had my F3 for a year with an official case on it. The case wore away at the black finish so much that I ended up trading it in the following year for an S22 Ultra, looked like it lived in a bag of sandpaper for all of its life. Aspect ratio on the front screen was awful too, constantly had apps crashing or not displaying buttons because they weren't designed for such a slim screen. Hoping to go back to this or next year's fold though still, the inside screen was great
Fold 3 here.. still paying it off lol.😂😂 :(but ya perfect condition just back is starting to peel cause of the glue No cracks, or problems with the screen. Looks new
@@MitchBowman93 Yeah the aspect ratio of the front screen needs to be slightly wider, that's literally my one complaint about it. Luckly whatever app acts up on the front screen usually works on the interior screen. I think I've had 1 instance so far where neither one really worked well, but at that point I blame the app.
I also have been daily driving a Fold 4. I have no hinge or folding issues, but I do have speaker and power issues. The speakers randomly stop working, and when I reset the phone, it doesn't like to turn back on. It's safe to say I'm excited for my Fold 6
"Why not just make the phone that thick and you get extra battery?" Because Folds are already heavy-ass phones and I don't think many people would want to use an even heavier-ass phone.
It's also already a thick-ass phone and every 1mm you add to the thickness of the phone turns into 2mm when it's folded. There's an arguable case for thickening a typical candybar phone to flatten out the camera, but doing that with a flip phone? It'd be an absolute brick lol
I like Elijah’s unboxing especially after daily driving and seeing his issues with it long term but am hoping to see Linus daily drive something like this for a full review
@@lolhi1122 but it doesnt protect the camera so you need a extra thicc case that protects the camera aswell or the case itself needs a big pump where the camera is so its bad either way, if it was flat ore slightly elevated from the get go, the case could be slim and still protect camera..
@dorian6021 I was quoting the reviewer when he was upset about the camera bump, and he suggested making the phone thicker to minimise the bump and also gain battery. In theory that's sound great. However, the fold is already thick, and the race is actually to make them thinner and more appealing.
@dorian6021 kinda yes 😅 skull emoji means "did he actually say that? lmfao I am dead", usually on unpopular comments etc. Depends on the context really.
Elijah is 100% right about the camera bump, many modern phones have such a massive camera bump that it sticks out even WITH a slim case, which is absolutely insane. Either make the phone thicker or stop trying to cram in cameras that don't fit. Samsung has some older phones that have a camera which pops out from the body, I'm sure they could get significantly better camera quality if they brought that back while also eliminating the camera bump.
If you want to get rid of the camera bump all you need to do is buy the Grip case from dbrand, on the Fold 5 it makes the camera bump flat with the back, protects your phone and hinge, biggest issue with the hinge is that you will damage it easily in a drop and once it goes it goes.
I have a Fold 5. I started with the Fold 4 but the screen broke 9ish months in. I ended up being able to trade it in for the 5 for a good deal (first time buying phones two years in a row). I was nervous about it because I didn't want to buy a third phone in 3 years. But I was so used to a specific work flow on my fold that I risked it. The 5 has been much more durable than my 4. Everyone I know with a 4 had screen problems within 10 months. I'm around a year in for the 5 and it's as good as the day I got it. I've even dropped it more than I ever did other phones. I just think the 4 wasn't a durable phone.
4:56 Slightly less bass and a bit of distortion, but it does sound clearer than the 4. The clarity has a sharper low end bass though, so it sounds like it has a wider range, which is nice.
4/6 of my coworkers got rid of their fold 5 within 6 months. 1 is switching in a few months when they can get a new phone. The other likes it, but isn't getting another fold after this one.
Agree 100% on the camera bump rant. The only counter argument I can think of is that a thicker phone will also be substantially heavier. Since the Fold is already a bigger device this could make it legitimately uncomfortable to hold.
I agree 100% on the camera bump issue. I just want a flat phone. They could even use the extra width for more battery to make it level but thicker. Ideally they would save enough space in the chassis at the top for the camera lenses to be built into the phone so as to not protrude at all, like they used to do.
"I passionately hate camera bumps."
I get it buddy. That little wobble when you lay it flat is just annoying to me. Just gimme a slightly thicker phone with a bigger battery. It's one of my reasons for a always using a case that makes sure that my phone can lay flat.

I didn't do it cause I was hoping the Fold 6 would be a bigger upgrade than the 5. Maybe I should wait for the new One+ and Google foldables.
@@AnotherComputer yeah I remember heating about it with the fold 2 as well but for some reason the 3 seems to not be as frequent. Such crap.
I had 2 fold 4 with the same issue
I have 3 and it doesn’t fully open
@Elvewizzy. The 4th generation is the worst when it comes to durability. The 5th generation is the most durable.

Mine wouldn't open after 6 months. Samsung refused to fix it. Never buying their devices again.
my fold 4 had this exact issue - in Europe so had 2 months left on the warranty (2 years) and was fixed for free

I am actually on a Watch4, what's different on the 7 for you?
@@QuantumConundrumbetter battery life, much better performance - no lag, improved fitness training, faster charging and slightly bigger display.
The no lag on the watch 7 ultra is amazing. Watch 5 pro was annoying with the lag
I just cant get over the price increase for such minimal improvement. Especially when the compition have similar spec devices for a fraction of the cost

I completely agree about the camera bump. Just make it thicker with a bigger battery. Thicker doesn't matter in actual use at all.
You say that, and yet most people claim it's too thick.
It does when you remember that the material you add by making it thicker and adding a massive battery actually has mass.
0:05 So a $2000 phone only lasts 2 years. Nice. My 5 year old S20 Ultra is still doing fine after almost 5 years, and I will be keeping it a while longer.
my s22 ultra is still great too, wont upgrade for another couple years
check your back glass, a lot of the ones in s20 ultra are starting to open. mostly due to adhesive fail.
"So a $1.000.000 house only lasts 1 day (if you blow it up with explosives). Nice."
See how stupid that is? Without knowing how something is used (or abused), there is no indication of quality. You can leave the crappiest phone of all time in a box for 10 years, and only trickle charge it to keep the battery alive, then the crappiest phone of all time lasts 10 years. Does that mean it's good? Of course not.
Your device is going to be removed from Samsung's repair pool very soon.

@@timderks5960 except elijah didn't intentionally destroy his phone. in the video he was being careful make sure he doesn't break the inner screen. that indicates the phone became like that from 2 years of normal usage. that would be like a house falling down after only 5 years of you living in it. maybe use your brain a little next time.
aside from scratches and the front screen protector peeling on my fold 2, it has been a rock. Whenever I get a new phone it will be a fold again.
I'm glad it's been lasting for you
Agree regarding camera bumps.

@@f.i.b3027 I fail to see what saying that people wouldn't criticize a phone for being thick enough that it doesn't need a camera bump if no one had ever made a phone to thin to fit the camera without a bump, has to do with controlling smart phone makers.
@@t1m3f0x I'm not saying that you are wrong about your statement; just that it is not realistic, as smartphones' thinness is the reason why they are slip into your pocket fairly well.

elijah is right about camera bumps. the thing is gonna be shoved in a thick ol case anyway, might as well get some extra battery out of it.

"Why not make the phone that thick?"
- in relation to camera bump
I want to preface this by saying I'm an advocate for bigger batteries... on regular slab phones... to a degree.
2:17 that is how thick if it was real after unfolding
I'll never understand the camera bumps being on one side of the phone. At least with my pixel 7 it makes sense and the phone is steady.
That hinge is covered under 2 year warranty. Just get it fixed for free, feels like a new phone. As part of the repair they need to replace the inner screen and battery as well anyway so its really is like a new phone!
Quality video. Really warming up to this type of Elijah when it comes to checking products out as the host. Great work.

I have to say I wasn't a fan at first. But like a stubborn wart, Elijah is growing on me 😄
Elijah opening his current 18-month-old phone is all the reason you need to not buy a Fold.
Fully agree. I think by the time it gets to Fold 10 or 11, it might be okay.

They both work under the context i think
"Why not just make the phone that thick and you get extra battery?"
Because Folds are already heavy-ass phones and I don't think many people would want to use an even heavier-ass phone.
It is lighter than e.g. the iPhone 14 pro max. For me, the weight is not a problem, but the cost.

Siri, Alexa, Okay Google - can any of you make Elijah start brushing his yellow teeth?
Elijah is 100% right about the camera bump, many modern phones have such a massive camera bump that it sticks out even WITH a slim case, which is absolutely insane. Either make the phone thicker or stop trying to cram in cameras that don't fit.
Samsung has some older phones that have a camera which pops out from the body, I'm sure they could get significantly better camera quality if they brought that back while also eliminating the camera bump.
"We're gonna listen to Crab Rave" - and, ya lost me.
The camera bump is made that way to accomodate cases. With a case on, it becomes fully flat with no protrusion/bump.
Bruh all the bots in the comments lmfaooo
how can Google not be able to fix this?
Hmm yes youtube / google certainly does a good job at handling bots lol
If you want to get rid of the camera bump all you need to do is buy the Grip case from dbrand, on the Fold 5 it makes the camera bump flat with the back, protects your phone and hinge, biggest issue with the hinge is that you will damage it easily in a drop and once it goes it goes.
Bots eeww
My 3 year old fold is holding up fine. Honestly, I just wish something like the LG Dual Screens would come back. That's what I really want.
wth are these first three comments????

My fold 5 is still flat. Every so often it tries to not open flat, but it's nothing brute force can't fix.
Elijah...Cats dont have hands, they have Paws. Thank you.
I agree 100% on the camera bump issue. I just want a flat phone. They could even use the extra width for more battery to make it level but thicker. Ideally they would save enough space in the chassis at the top for the camera lenses to be built into the phone so as to not protrude at all, like they used to do.
If you extend the back of that foldable all the way to the camera hump, its going to be like holding a walkie talkie.
