Neither for me. I really prefer the regular phone layout (candy bar as you call it haha). I have an ipad mini if I want to do tablet things and an iPhone 13 Pro as my phone. I don't see much of a point in the flip. It looks really cool but honestly the 13 Pro isn't that big in my pocket and is easy for me to use with one hand.
I'm glad you made that point that the front display is NOT all that tall. I actually LOVE the thinner front display as it makes one-handing the phone MUCH easier for tasks such as carrying something anding needing to respond to a text or answer a call. If I need to use 2 hands, I GET TO open it up to that BEAUTIFUL inner display. Edit: also a small note. They actually HAVE been making incrimental improvements to that crease on the inner display. The difference between the 4 and 5 might be small, but the difference between the 3 and 5 is much mroe noticable.
That really was an honest review. I agree with everything, having tried fold 4 and 5 myself. I own fold 4 and there is absolutely no reason to get the 5. Save yourself some money and buy the fold 4. Use the extra money to buy a watch 6
If you're willing to take some chances and deal with a few possible headaches for a deal, you can always buy ebay refurbished z fold 4s for around 600$ and they're covered with a 1 year warranty under allstate. At least the last time I checked you could do that. It's crazy that just a year later you can get 2 z fold 4s for less than the price of one on release.

I feel like I got a killer deal and upgraded from Z Fold 4 to the 5 for $550 out the door! Samsung gave me $1,000 off trade-in and Verizon gave me a Black Friday deal $300 off for a combined $1300 off total, no Activation and no deposit down. The better hinge, much stronger screen and newer Processor I feel like it was worth it for me.
I love my fold 4 also I just wish it got brighter I barely can see what's on the screen outside on a sunny day and that's with the brightness all the way up lol.
Your videos are superb. So balanced and you tell people not to make upgrades, when they don’t need to. I currently have a s23 ultra and I love it. And I like in the uk, so it’s nice to have the snapdragon for once. This does look like a great phone, but watching because I love tech.
glad you guys got snapdragon finally. I never understood how samsung can allow different processors in different regions. It's awful publicity. So many people complaining online about their phones with the exynos versions. It's horrible marketing. Horrible for the people in those regions.
I ordered one cause Samsung just increased their trade in offer to $1200 for Z Fold 4. Considering that I only paid $700 for it last yr, I just couldn't pass that offer up. It's not much of an upgrade, but I do love the new Icy Blue color and the slimmer design with zero hinge gap is definitely worth it to me.

I don’t understand why everyone complains about the crease. It’s barely noticeable if you’re not trying to pay attention to it. The thing that bugs me is it being nearly a $2,000 phone with a non-flagship camera. I loved my fold 4, but the camera was just too mid, I had to return it. Once the cameras get better I’ll be rocking the folds again
If these phones were 1200 instead of 1800-2000$, I bet these would become very popular. I can't understand why Samsung wouldn't just sell these cheaper. At this point we're generations in. If they want the market share in america and to get ahead of apple whatsoever, why not do what Samsung did before? Up the standard for phones. Samsung made big screens the norm on phones and apple had to adjust. Why not get ahead? Sell these things at a loss if you have to (they don't, they could profit off of these selling them for 900$ if they wanted)

I am definitely an edge case, but I currently have a Fold 4 256gb and am jumping to the 5. I got my Fold 4 for 840 bucks refurbished. With the trade in value of $1000 giving me a $160 profit on my initial purchase, $50 email offer, getting the 512GB upgrade free along with the $80 worth of samsung points I had in my account I am getting the newest Fold for roughly 400-500 off the price I would pay outright. Sure my initial purchase was an absolute steal but I like the satisfaction of knowing I have a brand new device with proper coverage. But I agree with pretty much everyone else that it's not worth the jump unless you are rich or got a crazy deal on your previous phone like I did.
Wow, it's like people are actually realizing upgrading from the fold 4 to fold 5 is like switching from iPhone 14 to iPhone 15. OF COURSE ITS NOT MUCH DIFFERENT.
After using the Flip 4 for a year I don't understand why people make it as if there is some additional effort to open the phone and use the main screen. After a short time, it is almost a subconscious action. I am anticipating the arrival of my Fold 5 and I doubt if I will use the outer screen for anything more than looking at notifications and answering calls. If you aren't using the inner screen I don't know why you would buy this phone.
I switched ftom the 4 to the 5 after my hinge broke for the second time in 6 months ( got it repaired from Samsung) honestly the increased brightness of the inner screen makes a huge difference to usability (it feels more like a doubling of brughtness even though its only increased by 33 percent) and the fact it lays flat with 90 percent less wobble and the crease is noticably less visible as long as its not completely flat. My fold 4 got much hotter, but the fold 5 has been pretty cool for me. Battery life does seem a bit worse, but so far, it lasts me all day unless i start really pushing the inner screen. I really hope they find a way to maje it thinner /lighter on the 6, i like the more narrow screen but even just making it slightly wider so the inner screen is bigger (with a bigger battery and inner screen too) would be great. If they could get to a point where using the inner screen could last you, almost a full day itd be the greatest phone. At the very least, faster charging. I dont really care about the cameras, but what's the point of all that real estate of the inner screen if the content you take looks mediocre. For the price, it really should blow the ultra out of the water on all fronts

It's odd, most reviewers show at least an extra hour of battery life, which is logical given how much more efficient the snapdragon 8 gen 2 (for Samsung) is vs the Gen 1 Fold 4 chip that was not highly regarded for thermal problems. However, there are few that see discernable photo improvements. I guess it's a user case thing. Great review, I'm upgrading a Note 20 Ultra which is a generation behind the Fold 4, so I expect improvements across the board.
The Fold4 didn't use the 8 Gen 1 but rather the 8+ Gen 1, which was much more energy efficient. It has much better battery life than a lot of early 2022 flagships, even with its not very impressive battery
You can googling that Qualcomm snapdragon 888 and 8 gen 1 made by samsung chipset (not samsung mobile).. snap 865, 870, and 8+ gen 1 and 8 gen 2 made by TSMC.. z fold4 using 8+ gen 1 which is stable like 8 gen 2 thus no thermal issue
@@13huhahh yup. I messed up buying the s22 ultra. The 8 gen 1 truly feels only 80% like a flagship processor. Really rough around the edges. Wish I had gone for the z fold 4 instead.
I'm getting the 5 after all because of how much they are giving me for the Z Fold 3. The added photo quality improvement due to processing is the selling point for me.
bought a pristine 256gb fold 4 beige for £700, battery health 90%. Save your money and just buy the ultra lol. I have to dedicate a pocket to this phone xD
I carry around my phone AND a Windows surface for doing art projects on the road and was curious if a fold phone + S pen would suffice for when I don't want to or can't carry my bag. I don't have a huge budget though so I was looking at just getting a 7 inch tablet and carrying both around just wearing jackets with larger pockets. Trying to decide if the 4 would do the job since I'd be putting it in a case anyway and don't really care about slight improvements to hinges etc.

It's literally user preference. Are you a consumer that just want a phablet to consume social media content. Are you into creation or business use where you wanna multitask emailing, copying data/statistics, making videos/photos, etc. Are you a mobile gamer? Either way, you get more screen, which is better.

I also have the fold 3. IMO, there's not much difference between fold 3 and 4. Especially from fold 4 to 5. So let's just keep our fold 3 for one more year.
Im upgrading 1 cause my 4 already needed hinge repair and as they repaired that the fingerprint reader ended up needing to be replaced as well and in my experience once you need to fix a phone like this it doesnt last much longer after it gets opened and messed around with. The deals they are offering me are too good to pass up so i can be primed and ready for when the 6 comes out, and thats where most people speculate the big changes will be. 2 rhe brighter inner screen so it will actually be usable during daylight. 3. better cases cause the ones for the 4 have all been subpar and terrible quality. Ultimately, I had my 4 never needed repairs. i wouldn't consider upgrading, but i did go to the samsung store and compare them, and there is a difference in the crease and screen brightness and with the deals theyre offering in conjunction with cash back from either Rakuten or chase ultimate rewards im basically getting 1500-1600 off the phone so itd make no sense not to upgrade even for minor improvements especially given that these phones dont really retain retail value after a few months from release.
I have fold 4 and it seems fold 5 only has minimal improvements. I shall wait for fold 7 before I get new one since fold 4 for me is still new and excellent.
With my pre-ordered Z Fold 5 on the way that arrives in the mail soon and eventually into my hands, it won't be long afterward that my desire to have the Z Fold 7 be hard to resist.

Inner display on my Fold 4 broke a few days ago and requested a replacement through samsung care and they sent me a fold 5. Didnt even notice it was different till I saw the device name when setting up. At least I got an upgrade for cheap
I have an S21, was hoping to switch to a Fold, but the 5 is VERY expensive, I was considering buying a 4 now that they're cheaper but the hinge not closing completely doesn't convince me at all, feels like it will break in my pocket, not sure if I should wait for the 6 to come out and then buy the 5 once the price goes down.
Im in the same boat, but u currently own a note20, the fact that the spen becomes so bulky is a no go. Ill just wait for the six to come out so i can buy the fold 5. Maybe a year more waiting?
I have owned galaxy fold 1-4, but I did not buy the 5 because not enough changed. Can you imagine this phone still being as tall as it is, like keeping the height aspect but then getting the width aspect of the pixel fold. I don’t know how big that would make the internal display but man that would be amazing lol I don’t care if it wouldn’t fit in my pocket, I’d figure it out 😂

My fold 4 recently had it about an year now but its starting too heat up more then id like im also not been full charging it since i got it back from repair wont leave on charge longer then an hour due too worries off the inner battery leaking again .... when my contracts over i will be going back too an normal phone 😢
Very sensible advice. The Galaxy Fold 6 is a minor upgrade and at $1800 unless you are rich clearly not worth upgrading from the Fold 4 (£1100 loss in a year with trade-in in the UK for a few changes). I understand hardcore Samsung fans will buy whatever but the Fold 4 is solid with the same cameras and only 30-60 mins less battery life. I have no idea why anyone would want to lose £1100 to upgrade from 4 to 5?
I had the z4 and i had the bubble affect and Samsung or one of their repair centers told me that I get 2 free screen protector replacements for the life of the phone, which was a shock to me as they know that there is a fault. Then not even after 2 months I got the black screen which the y told me the phone is faulty and has an affect, so I told them I don't want that phone anymore as it's been nothing but a nightmare, constantly getting hot, so I asked for the replacement of the new Z5 over the S23 Ultra, the Samsung customer service rep told me that the S23 Ultra is a downgrade compared to the Z 4 or Z5. Hopefully the problems that the Z4 had were fixed.
Even before the fold 4 came out, I knew the 3 wasn't really going anywhere for awhile. I knew the upgrades were going to be negligible for a few generations after, but I was hoping to be wrong.
These things depreciate so fast. I can find open box mint or near-mint z fold 4s on ebay with a 1 year warranty under allstate for around 600$. I'm gonna wait until the fold 6 is out and just buy a fold 5. It's crazy to me that you can get two fold 4s for like 700$ less than a single fold 4 on release. Nutso.
I upgraded from 4 to 5 mostly because I had some minor damage on my 4 so deductible on insurance was 250 and Samsung had a deal for 1200 dollar trade in so it was about 650 to upgrade and omg the hinge upgrade alonejs worth 400 dollars it's a world of difference especially after a year of use on the 4. Also my screen started to delaminate and when I say that I mean the screen protector on the fold 4 apparently the five has a stronger adhesive so that is also better
I'm in the same boat, this is why I just traded in the 4. I also had an issue with the hinge where it wasn't opening flat. Apparently this was a common issue as well.
2 fold 2s, 3 fold 3s. Center of screen cracked on all of them and it fills with dust. It takes about 6 or so months for cracks to start. I keep returning them, and 6-7 months and cracks come. Once they start, the center is full of dust within one month. I'm on the fence about skipping the 4 and go to the 5. My tmobile guy who prefers samsung told me wait until apple comes out with a foldable, then when samsung copies them... get that fold.
Counterargument to the tall display. The phone is also thicker. Plus the other two phones aren't really made for single hand use. What's the point of having the front display so narrow if you have to use two hands anyways? Also, Samsung seems to throttle the soc more on their phones vs other manufacturers.
After receiving my z fold 5 and comparing it to my 4, I noticed that the colors and brightness of my inside display seems more muted and seems to be a bit dimmer than the inner display on my z fold 4. It is especially apparent on whites and vivid colors. Has anyone else notice this on thier unit as well? I took them both to my local best buy to check the display unit and it has the same muted display issue. The z fold 5 also looks a bit less bright/vivid when comparing the brightness in this video also. You can see @ 4:00 minutes.

Got the upgrade. I gotten pleasently suppriest. The screen brightness is finally good enough. And my carrier in sweden lets you swap phones after a year and get rid of the last year for a new phone trading in your old one. They tend to not hold out much longer then a year so for me to get some savings it needs to last at least 2 years and if my note could barly handle 2,5years i got no faith in the fold series to hold out longer. Fold 2 screen replacement 8 month, same for fold 3. Fold 4 11 month main and sub board, dual battery replacement and lcd replacement for the wakom pen. Warranty so at least i dont need to pay. I use my phone a lot in work outside in rain freezing tempretures and sweaty work pants. The lift in the emulation like switch games got a big boost.
So glad you picked up on the noise opening the screen! Fold 4 sounds like something is wearing, or that the screen protector is stretching - it's a horrible noise and put me off opening it as much as I should have. New one feels much much better .. that and the fact it really folds flat now is way more important to me than the gap when folded. Fold 5 is a much larger upgrade, hardware wise, than most reviews are letting on.
I took a fold 4 for an ok price - new. I've been using it for a week and I don't know how I'll be able to go back to a regular phone after this one. The only thing i don't like about the Samsung phone is the 1x camera is too wide.
If you download lots of stuff. The Ufs 4.0 kills the outdated 3.1 on the fold 4. Read and write speeds are way faster on the 5. No reviewers mention this.
S fold have been such a let down to me since 1st gen. Cant believe 5 gens later, now its decent enough for me to actually want it. Luckily fold 6 comes out in 3 months. Finally joining fold series 🥳
I don't really understand why people complain about the foldable phones, they're going to get better, and the people wanting them are the ones supporting it, if you don't want one then...don't buy it, litterally every phone updates a littttle bit each time, is it worth it no of course not, it never is, so just buy last year's module when it breaks or you want an upgrade or Cana afford it, still get last years module
it's the most comfy smartphone i've ever used. The size of the the phone is just perfect and everybody can use it with one hand and type in one hand. 6.2 screen is ideal.
I'm def upgrading from fold 4. The brighter inner screen and new hinge are enough reason. If u own a fold 4 which u constantly struggle to see in bright sunlight then this is def worth it. ..
I upgraded from fold 4, the size alonr difference with the new hinge is a big improvement. Ita mucb slimmer now + brighter screen solved my 2 main concerns.
@robertrulez5391 received mine a few days ago the difference is night and day. The hinge is so smooth . The quality of the displays are also very noticeably different. It's so vibrant and bright ! ... overall way faster as well.
So, the spine is like 0.0000000⅕ thinner than f4. F4 spen case will not work without double-sided tape. It's almost worth saving $170 (aud) on the f5 spen case. Buuuut, unfortunately. I wouldn't risk it. (Saying that with an f4 case on My f5) The reason I got it was for the 1tb (video and photo editor) over the 256gb at the time the f4 was available. And... the promo items. Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious that people are complaining about the tall aspect ratio. Not the fact that the phone is literally tall. It feels tall in the hand because it's a skinny candy bar shape. 😅
I am strongly considering getting a Z Fold for school instead of an iPad, because it can be used as a phone, tablet (with S Pen), and computer? (With Samsung Dex). I’d love to hear other people’s opinions tho!
I highly recommend going that route, it works flawlessly and it's just so cool that you've got your phone, tablet and pc all in one device that fits in your pocket. i've used the folds during my studies, I've bought small foldable bluetooth keyboard and made notes with s-pen
I spent the past week using my Fold 4 as a dedicated desktop between work and home. I was surprised how well optimized office 365 apps are with Dex. I was able to accomplish all corporate tasks, save for connecting to work specific shared drives and AWS. That being said, for your use case, it would be an awesome option and save you a ton of money.
Hey..Many thanks for this. I got the fold4 and love it. Didn't even know fold5 was up. 1 thing. There is a screen protector on the phone that is caca. That sucks. When I open my phone it makes noise. Should be silent.
Just upgraded to z fold 5 from z dold 4 and instantly regret it. I DO NOT FEEL ANY DIFFERENCE 😅 the gap isn't even something my hands or mind register as different. And it ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT FEEL 'LIGHTER' feels the same. I'm hoping battery life is better

I use it unfolded most of the time. I was soooo hoping they would make a wider version. The pen is something i've never used as i prefer the stand (even though its way flimsy and the first one i had even snapped!). please why can't Samsung make the Zfold5 wider so i can actually type on it? and this weighs a tonne with the free case on it. the pen storage on the Z5 looks great, but what about a stand aswell? the only thing I hate is trying to type on a screen that is just too narrow, (and i'm a woman with relatively small hands). how on earth is anyone with larger hands meant to use it???? Please samsung make the display wider!!!!! I hate this tiny width after having iphones. I reluctantly may go back to an iphone if samsung can't make the Zfold wider. Vx

Finally, I found someone who gave an honest review about the crease. Everyone says it’s “15%” better or some other bs metric. Earned a sub.
I dont know the percentage but having a 4 and 5 on hand the crease is definitely less on the 5 both visually and to the touch.
They look identical and even the dip is the same

I just compared the crease on my Z fold 4 vs Z fold 5 side by side. It is noticeably lesser on the Fold 5

I'm still loving the z fold 4. The cover screen is a bit narrow but it performs very well. Inner display - crease only bothers me in sunlight.

I don’t understand why everyone complains about the crease. It’s barely noticeable if you’re not trying to pay attention to it. The thing that bugs me is it being nearly a $2,000 phone with a non-flagship camera. I loved my fold 4, but the camera was just too mid, I had to return it. Once the cameras get better I’ll be rocking the folds again
If these phones were 1200 instead of 1800-2000$, I bet these would become very popular. I can't understand why Samsung wouldn't just sell these cheaper. At this point we're generations in. If they want the market share in america and to get ahead of apple whatsoever, why not do what Samsung did before? Up the standard for phones. Samsung made big screens the norm on phones and apple had to adjust. Why not get ahead? Sell these things at a loss if you have to (they don't, they could profit off of these selling them for 900$ if they wanted)

I am definitely an edge case, but I currently have a Fold 4 256gb and am jumping to the 5. I got my Fold 4 for 840 bucks refurbished. With the trade in value of $1000 giving me a $160 profit on my initial purchase, $50 email offer, getting the 512GB upgrade free along with the $80 worth of samsung points I had in my account I am getting the newest Fold for roughly 400-500 off the price I would pay outright. Sure my initial purchase was an absolute steal but I like the satisfaction of knowing I have a brand new device with proper coverage. But I agree with pretty much everyone else that it's not worth the jump unless you are rich or got a crazy deal on your previous phone like I did.

Wow, it's like people are actually realizing upgrading from the fold 4 to fold 5 is like switching from iPhone 14 to iPhone 15. OF COURSE ITS NOT MUCH DIFFERENT.
After using the Flip 4 for a year I don't understand why people make it as if there is some additional effort to open the phone and use the main screen. After a short time, it is almost a subconscious action. I am anticipating the arrival of my Fold 5 and I doubt if I will use the outer screen for anything more than looking at notifications and answering calls. If you aren't using the inner screen I don't know why you would buy this phone.

I switched ftom the 4 to the 5 after my hinge broke for the second time in 6 months ( got it repaired from Samsung) honestly the increased brightness of the inner screen makes a huge difference to usability (it feels more like a doubling of brughtness even though its only increased by 33 percent) and the fact it lays flat with 90 percent less wobble and the crease is noticably less visible as long as its not completely flat. My fold 4 got much hotter, but the fold 5 has been pretty cool for me. Battery life does seem a bit worse, but so far, it lasts me all day unless i start really pushing the inner screen. I really hope they find a way to maje it thinner /lighter on the 6, i like the more narrow screen but even just making it slightly wider so the inner screen is bigger (with a bigger battery and inner screen too) would be great. If they could get to a point where using the inner screen could last you, almost a full day itd be the greatest phone. At the very least, faster charging. I dont really care about the cameras, but what's the point of all that real estate of the inner screen if the content you take looks mediocre. For the price, it really should blow the ultra out of the water on all fronts

It's odd, most reviewers show at least an extra hour of battery life, which is logical given how much more efficient the snapdragon 8 gen 2 (for Samsung) is vs the Gen 1 Fold 4 chip that was not highly regarded for thermal problems. However, there are few that see discernable photo improvements. I guess it's a user case thing. Great review, I'm upgrading a Note 20 Ultra which is a generation behind the Fold 4, so I expect improvements across the board.
The Fold4 didn't use the 8 Gen 1 but rather the 8+ Gen 1, which was much more energy efficient. It has much better battery life than a lot of early 2022 flagships, even with its not very impressive battery

You can googling that Qualcomm snapdragon 888 and 8 gen 1 made by samsung chipset (not samsung mobile).. snap 865, 870, and 8+ gen 1 and 8 gen 2 made by TSMC.. z fold4 using 8+ gen 1 which is stable like 8 gen 2 thus no thermal issue

fun fact: if you have and like the fold 4 s pen case, you can use the plastic holder part with the fold 5 strap case.
I carry around my phone AND a Windows surface for doing art projects on the road and was curious if a fold phone + S pen would suffice for when I don't want to or can't carry my bag. I don't have a huge budget though so I was looking at just getting a 7 inch tablet and carrying both around just wearing jackets with larger pockets. Trying to decide if the 4 would do the job since I'd be putting it in a case anyway and don't really care about slight improvements to hinges etc.

It's literally user preference. Are you a consumer that just want a phablet to consume social media content. Are you into creation or business use where you wanna multitask emailing, copying data/statistics, making videos/photos, etc. Are you a mobile gamer? Either way, you get more screen, which is better.

Im upgrading 1 cause my 4 already needed hinge repair and as they repaired that the fingerprint reader ended up needing to be replaced as well and in my experience once you need to fix a phone like this it doesnt last much longer after it gets opened and messed around with. The deals they are offering me are too good to pass up so i can be primed and ready for when the 6 comes out, and thats where most people speculate the big changes will be. 2 rhe brighter inner screen so it will actually be usable during daylight. 3. better cases cause the ones for the 4 have all been subpar and terrible quality. Ultimately, I had my 4 never needed repairs. i wouldn't consider upgrading, but i did go to the samsung store and compare them, and there is a difference in the crease and screen brightness and with the deals theyre offering in conjunction with cash back from either Rakuten or chase ultimate rewards im basically getting 1500-1600 off the phone so itd make no sense not to upgrade even for minor improvements especially given that these phones dont really retain retail value after a few months from release.
I have fold 4 and it seems fold 5 only has minimal improvements. I shall wait for fold 7 before I get new one since fold 4 for me is still new and excellent.

Inner display on my Fold 4 broke a few days ago and requested a replacement through samsung care and they sent me a fold 5. Didnt even notice it was different till I saw the device name when setting up. At least I got an upgrade for cheap

I have owned galaxy fold 1-4, but I did not buy the 5 because not enough changed. Can you imagine this phone still being as tall as it is, like keeping the height aspect but then getting the width aspect of the pixel fold. I don’t know how big that would make the internal display but man that would be amazing lol I don’t care if it wouldn’t fit in my pocket, I’d figure it out 😂

My fold 4 recently had it about an year now but its starting too heat up more then id like im also not been full charging it since i got it back from repair wont leave on charge longer then an hour due too worries off the inner battery leaking again .... when my contracts over i will be going back too an normal phone 😢

Very sensible advice. The Galaxy Fold 6 is a minor upgrade and at $1800 unless you are rich clearly not worth upgrading from the Fold 4 (£1100 loss in a year with trade-in in the UK for a few changes). I understand hardcore Samsung fans will buy whatever but the Fold 4 is solid with the same cameras and only 30-60 mins less battery life. I have no idea why anyone would want to lose £1100 to upgrade from 4 to 5?

I had the z4 and i had the bubble affect and Samsung or one of their repair centers told me that I get 2 free screen protector replacements for the life of the phone, which was a shock to me as they know that there is a fault. Then not even after 2 months I got the black screen which the y told me the phone is faulty and has an affect, so I told them I don't want that phone anymore as it's been nothing but a nightmare, constantly getting hot, so I asked for the replacement of the new Z5 over the S23 Ultra, the Samsung customer service rep told me that the S23 Ultra is a downgrade compared to the Z 4 or Z5. Hopefully the problems that the Z4 had were fixed.

Even before the fold 4 came out, I knew the 3 wasn't really going anywhere for awhile. I knew the upgrades were going to be negligible for a few generations after, but I was hoping to be wrong.
These things depreciate so fast. I can find open box mint or near-mint z fold 4s on ebay with a 1 year warranty under allstate for around 600$. I'm gonna wait until the fold 6 is out and just buy a fold 5. It's crazy to me that you can get two fold 4s for like 700$ less than a single fold 4 on release. Nutso.
I had the 4. Broke it. Insurance company gave me a 5 for the 100 dollar charge because they were out of 4s... ya they are almost exactly the same
I upgraded from 4 to 5 mostly because I had some minor damage on my 4 so deductible on insurance was 250 and Samsung had a deal for 1200 dollar trade in so it was about 650 to upgrade and omg the hinge upgrade alonejs worth 400 dollars it's a world of difference especially after a year of use on the 4. Also my screen started to delaminate and when I say that I mean the screen protector on the fold 4 apparently the five has a stronger adhesive so that is also better
I'm in the same boat, this is why I just traded in the 4. I also had an issue with the hinge where it wasn't opening flat. Apparently this was a common issue as well.
2 fold 2s, 3 fold 3s. Center of screen cracked on all of them and it fills with dust. It takes about 6 or so months for cracks to start. I keep returning them, and 6-7 months and cracks come. Once they start, the center is full of dust within one month. I'm on the fence about skipping the 4 and go to the 5. My tmobile guy who prefers samsung told me wait until apple comes out with a foldable, then when samsung copies them... get that fold.

Counterargument to the tall display. The phone is also thicker. Plus the other two phones aren't really made for single hand use. What's the point of having the front display so narrow if you have to use two hands anyways?
Also, Samsung seems to throttle the soc more on their phones vs other manufacturers.
After receiving my z fold 5 and comparing it to my 4, I noticed that the colors and brightness of my inside display seems more muted and seems to be a bit dimmer than the inner display on my z fold 4. It is especially apparent on whites and vivid colors. Has anyone else notice this on thier unit as well? I took them both to my local best buy to check the display unit and it has the same muted display issue. The z fold 5 also looks a bit less bright/vivid when comparing the brightness in this video also. You can see @ 4:00 minutes.

Got the upgrade. I gotten pleasently suppriest. The screen brightness is finally good enough. And my carrier in sweden lets you swap phones after a year and get rid of the last year for a new phone trading in your old one. They tend to not hold out much longer then a year so for me to get some savings it needs to last at least 2 years and if my note could barly handle 2,5years i got no faith in the fold series to hold out longer. Fold 2 screen replacement 8 month, same for fold 3. Fold 4 11 month main and sub board, dual battery replacement and lcd replacement for the wakom pen. Warranty so at least i dont need to pay. I use my phone a lot in work outside in rain freezing tempretures and sweaty work pants. The lift in the emulation like switch games got a big boost.

The only thing to test is durability. If no durability improvement found, Fold5 is a waste of time.

So glad you picked up on the noise opening the screen! Fold 4 sounds like something is wearing, or that the screen protector is stretching - it's a horrible noise and put me off opening it as much as I should have. New one feels much much better .. that and the fact it really folds flat now is way more important to me than the gap when folded. Fold 5 is a much larger upgrade, hardware wise, than most reviews are letting on.
I took a fold 4 for an ok price - new. I've been using it for a week and I don't know how I'll be able to go back to a regular phone after this one. The only thing i don't like about the Samsung phone is the 1x camera is too wide.

If you download lots of stuff. The Ufs 4.0 kills the outdated 3.1 on the fold 4. Read and write speeds are way faster on the 5. No reviewers mention this.

I don't really understand why people complain about the foldable phones, they're going to get better, and the people wanting them are the ones supporting it, if you don't want one then...don't buy it, litterally every phone updates a littttle bit each time, is it worth it no of course not, it never is, so just buy last year's module when it breaks or you want an upgrade or Cana afford it, still get last years module
it's the most comfy smartphone i've ever used. The size of the the phone is just perfect and everybody can use it with one hand and type in one hand. 6.2 screen is ideal.

I upgraded from fold 4, the size alonr difference with the new hinge is a big improvement. Ita mucb slimmer now + brighter screen solved my 2 main concerns.
The fact that it folds COMPLETELY FLAT when its unfolded makes it enough for me i love it
@robertrulez5391 received mine a few days ago the difference is night and day. The hinge is so smooth . The quality of the displays are also very noticeably different. It's so vibrant and bright ! ... overall way faster as well.

F4 spen case will not work without double-sided tape. It's almost worth saving $170 (aud) on the f5 spen case. Buuuut, unfortunately. I wouldn't risk it. (Saying that with an f4 case on My f5)

I highly recommend going that route, it works flawlessly and it's just so cool that you've got your phone, tablet and pc all in one device that fits in your pocket. i've used the folds during my studies, I've bought small foldable bluetooth keyboard and made notes with s-pen
I spent the past week using my Fold 4 as a dedicated desktop between work and home. I was surprised how well optimized office 365 apps are with Dex. I was able to accomplish all corporate tasks, save for connecting to work specific shared drives and AWS. That being said, for your use case, it would be an awesome option and save you a ton of money.

I use it unfolded most of the time. I was soooo hoping they would make a wider version. The pen is something i've never used as i prefer the stand (even though its way flimsy and the first one i had even snapped!). please why can't Samsung make the Zfold5 wider so i can actually type on it? and this weighs a tonne with the free case on it. the pen storage on the Z5 looks great, but what about a stand aswell? the only thing I hate is trying to type on a screen that is just too narrow, (and i'm a woman with relatively small hands). how on earth is anyone with larger hands meant to use it????
