- If shoveling snow, battling traffic, and outrageous property taxes have got you down, I'm going to tell you why I love Savannah, GA. If you're considering moving to Georgia, Atlanta is a densely populated major city. Yet Savannah is a pretty small, laid back beach town with a low cost of living.

Moving to Savannah in 2016 for work was the best decisions I ever made. I fell in love with the city, the great people here, and the work opportunities (covid withstanding) were life changing. It does get a little warm in the summer but I don't mind it. The only downside I can think of is the pesky sand gnats! Ha. Thank you for a great video Karin!
I lived in GA twice as a kid . Once in Hinesville and the second time in Savannah. I’d fallen in love with Savannah and know that’s where I’ll want to settle down one day

I just moved to Savannah last week from Duluth, MN. Trust me, the brutal winters and fearing for my life while driving will NOT be missed! Although, since I am a transplant the humidity right now is awful and keeping me from going outdoors too much, however I do plan to spend the "cooler" months doing a lot more exploring! 💖😎
Right?!?! I learned to drive in the snow in Michigan. I spent more time in ditches than I did on the road, I swear. Yeah, the humidity right now is killing us but hopefully in another six weeks it'll be better.
@@georgiacoasthomes Yes and my birthday is in October so it'll be a perfect time to celebrate, and I honestly cannot wait for Halloween! Also, my first day here I had to try the shrimp and grits and it was amazing! 😋😋

Idk if I'm ready to move from the frigid North to the sweltering South just yet, but I wanted to comment that I appreciate your hammy & humorous video. I just " discovered " your videos and Savannah was recommend to me by a co-worker who is ex-Army. My wife and I may have to visit Savannah sometime next year. Im from the midwest. I’ve been very fortunate to live in the south due to being in the military. Im currently still serving, 15 years now. All my duty stations has been in the south and I don’t miss the north one bit.
Nothing beats southern hospitality and sweet tea.

@@wolfrus1809 we moved a little further down the coast in Ga in 2021 ahead of our original plans noted here. Wanted more land and less city / suburban life. No snow and I haven't donned a winter coat since! I love the heat! I have to head up to Ohio next week, ironically, and I am praying not to see any of the white stuff in my travels!

The market here in Savannah is very unpleasant for buyers right now. Demand far outweighs supply and most decent homes in the lower price ranges go under contract instantly, often with multiple offers. I’ve been looking for six months and still have not found “my place”. 🥵
I’m looking in the midtown/east side areas, so maybe it’s easier out in the suburbs. I do love it here in Savannah. Best wishes to everyone.
It really depends on your price range. In the first time buyer price range yes, it's pretty competitive. And yep, you're looking in a pretty hot area. Patience is a virtue! And is there anything you bring to teh table that's really strong besides price?

Moved to Savh in 94 while downtown was boarded up. I watched it prosper firsthand and loved working downtown. Moved away in 2008. I cannot stand going back now. The traffic is too much for me.
I just subscribed to your Channel. I plan on moving south within the next 4 to 5 years when I retire. Florida is high on my radar, but I am open to other locations with no snow, lower cost of living and lower property taxes than suburban Chicago where I have lived for many years. Looking forward to more videos.

Hi, Ms. Carr Love watching your videos on Living In Savannah and What Savannah is like to live In. I just have one quick question what are The winters like in Savannah?
We usually are in the 40’s and 50’s during the day. Occasionally it gets down into the 30’s but overall it’s chilly but not insanely cold.

I am considering moving to Savannah in three years when my daughter graduates from high school, I have lived in norther CA for 53 years and I am SOOOOO done. The cost and culture is a living nightmare. I honestly don't know how I am going make it another three years here but I don't want to uproot my daughter. ARGH. Am saving up money for a trip to Savannah to see if it's indeed going to be my new homw someday. Great video and you have a new subscriber!

When you come to visit stay in the historic district or out at the beach. You’ll love it! It’s sooooo different from NorCal in the architecture, the trees and plants, the air. I love it!

@StarlightPrincess70 fall is a wonderful time because the temperature is much nicer than July, and August, which are truly hot. The only downside is that is tropical storm/hurricane season. If you go after Halloween, you’ll probably be in the clear. Today it’s in the 60s but next week it’s supposed to be down in the 20s and 30s. It’s going to be cold! January and February are usually the coldest months, July and August are usually the hardest. The rest are lovely, temperature wise. Have fun!

We are wondering if houses in Savannah have garages? It seems like most of the properties I’m seeing on Zillow only have car ports.

Your videos are great!! We live in Placer County near Sacramento and are thinking of moving East. We're mid 50s and our youngest will be in college next year. Are there retirement communities with folks our age? Thanks for your help!
I used to live in Solano County! Hubby was at Travis AFB and Placer Title was our title company by the office. I did love it there!
I live around the same area you do, and used to live in NC. I would just say get ready for the humidity, flat, and bugs. lol.

Got a job down there. A little concerned as a lower income individual. Apartments are around 200-300 more a month than in the north where I'm at. It's worth it, but it's going to be a sacrifice.
Our rental market here is really hot so I’m not surprised that it’s a bit more than what you’re used to. Hopefully the lack of shoveling snow makes up for it though. 😁

Thank you for this video. I'm originally from Chicago, but live in Atlanta. Atlanta is an okay city, but Savannah seems like more of a place I would live
I thought I would love big cities but I truly prefer smaller cities. I like having things to do, but the traffic? Not so much. And the beach is a huge bonus for me.

Not Savannah-Chatham, go to Bryan of Effingham counties.
How’s the rental market? I don’t want to commit to buying right now.
It's very competitive and rates are increasing quickly. Not impossible but you may have to search for a while before you find something.

As a French living in France, Savannah would be one of my top-5 cities to go live in. Unfortunately, it seems so difficult for a foreigner to set in the US I guess I will never have this chance :/

Lol. We have alligators AND water moccasins (cottomouths), rattlesnakes, etc. Alligators show up in the ponds/lagoons in my neighborhood every now and then. I am not that far from the Ogeechee River.
