    Love all of your reviews. You are one of the only Channels I subscribe to. Running for 42 years. From full
    Marathons - 5k.First 25 years in Nike, 15 in ASICS Kayano and the last 2 in Mizuno horizon 4. The Horizon 4’s were one of the best ever for me. Many 1/2 marathons- zero injuries. Could not wear the v5 due to fit but v6 looks awesome. Would appreciate your review and it may help some runners that need Cush, support and some responsiveness.

    I’ve just purchased these. They are like wearing insulated running shoes. I’ve ran around 20 miles in them so far. There’s huge amount of stability and plushnesses/upper padding. I find my feet get really hot in them and there not as comfortable getting towards an hour of running. I always over size by half a size but maybe this isn’t enough as my feet may be swelling up in the heat. Saying that I’ve purchased them for autumn/winter/spring running so the running hot may be a benefit later on. They are certainly a premium shoe. No doubt.

    I have run in all versions of the Kayano. I use it as a long-run shoe. It's clear to me that Asics is slowly eliminating the gel - no gel under the big toe for the first time in 29 - and getting rid of the plastic. Both are positives to me. Looking forward to this one.

    My 28 lost all sole rigidity in the front after a year (used for waling). I loved that model and I hate the front 'rocker' in the 29. The perpendicular marks under the sole make more sense in the 29, i will test it for traction.

  • @jassaljs
    @jassaljs ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks! You must also look at the insoles. Lately, their insoles have started hurting as the edges are neither properly wedged in nor have they been smoothened to merge with the walls of the shoe. I am a great fan of ASICS and had to return a pair this week as I got blisters on both heels after 3km!

    • @i.p2088

      @@jassaljs the Silicone heel supports are terrible.. They also change the geometry of the shoe.. I always keep my old insoles and play with it. If the shoe is not wide enough I run with thin insoles or sockless.. Usually the Nike insoles are worthless so I add it for comfort like add it on top of the Alphafly V1 flat insole.. Usually Brooks and New Balance have good quality insoles.. Asics Nimbus etc.. By the way.. If like you say the insole at the heel is wedged or looks like little cracks at the back it means that the insole is to big.. Take it out and cut 2-3 mm from the front. You get this problem because manufacturers use the SAME SIZE insole in several sizes expecting the insole to mold with the shoe. You can see on the back of the insole that it is actually written for which size this insole is for. Usually quite a few. So if small they will stretch in the shoes and fit OK but if the insole is big it will cause the problem you have.

    Bought these a couple of days ago. Went for a 10k yesterday and ended up with blisters on the inside of both heels. Never had this issue with any running shoe before. I was wearing Injinji toe socks which are quite thin so hoping that this was the issue. Once blisters have settled down I’ll try a more cushioned sock and see how I get on as despite the blisters the shoes themselves gave an enjoyable first four miles or so.
    Edit: Further reading of the comments pointed me in the direction of ‘heel lock lacing’.
    Hoping this technique solves my issue out!

    I do really like this colourway. I've tried the Nimbus 24 and didn't really feel anything special about the FF Blast+ apart from a nice soft step in feel. Maybe you need a lot of it to give it a bouncy fun feel. The Novablast 3 seems to be getting rave 'shoe of the year' reviews so maybe it needs stack height.

    The 28s were a pretty solid general use shoe/trainer - I'm neutral but use these for long walks etc. They didn't have the pure running shoe feel as though you were walking on the ball of your foot. Are these the same or have they gone more running feel?

    When you say they will last for ages -- have you seen the negative reviews on Asics site and elsewhere about how the heel foam on the 28's collapses after several months? I just bought the 28 and am concerned about it happening at some point. Other than that, very happy with the feel of the shoe, although my left foot is prone to blistering on the heel if I dont use heel lock lacing and wear the right socks (US 12 / 4E). Also have the Brooks Adrenaline 22 and they are comfy too but not quite as comfy as the Kayano for me. I just hope my Kayanos last.
    edit: btw the 28 is a bit of a hot shoe temperature wise -- is the 29 any different?

      At first it may feel too tight at the top of the tongue to the point of being uncomfortable when you first start walking in them. But I'd say persevere with it as after around 5 mins of walking/running it should loosen up a bit.
      imo the normal lacing method using the top eyelet is just as good, but I found I had to stop after about 15 mins to re-tighten it. I think that's what the heel lock lacing does -- stops it from loosening as much so you don't have to stop and re-tighten the top eyelet.
      My blister is forming really low down on the sidewall of my heel, kind of where the sock liner meets the side wall of the heel counter inside the shoe.
      Also have Brooks Adrenaline 22 and that is more spacious in the heel to the point where it doesn't matter how I tie them, and I used them while my blister was healing.

    • @silver_BARON
      @silver_BARON ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Animal_lives_matter that’s exactly where my two blisters are, one on each heel. Just retired a pair of Adrenaline’s to changeover to these ones. The heel of the insole seems to lip up exactly the same as in my Brooks, that was my initial thought on how the blisters happened. Really hoping the heel lock lacing sorts it.

    • @Animal_lives_matter
      @Animal_lives_matter ปีที่แล้ว

      @@silver_BARON
      So you had issues with blisters in the Adrenaline's too?
      Another thing I've been doing is experimenting with different socks. I think a thinner, slippery sock would work best but at the same time the thick sock seems to stop my foot from moving around in the shoe as much. So I'm not really sure which one works best but apparently theres anti-blister running socks which I haven't tried yet.
      Before each run I always put on a fresh pair of socks + odor eaters powder around the heels to absorb moisture and prevent skin from becoming soft and mushy and prone to blistering.

    Asics seems to be very cleverly slowly reducing the amount of gel, or at least the amount of visible gel, each year. It's also probably an easy "cheat" for weight loss as that gel has to be more dense than foam. If they're smart they'll continue to whittle away and then deliver a substantial weight loss or a slight price cut when they elminate it altogether and nobody will care who might have previously.

    Well, the Kayano lost the Gel in the forefoot area !
    They put more cushioning with blown rubber to replace the Gel for that spot.
    The Nimbus 25 will probably lose the forefoot's Gel and might get a version of the Lite Truss thing to replace that small plastic piece that the Nimbus 24 have.

Did most of my marathon training last year in a non stability shoe and then introduced the Kayano 28 to the training and it started to cause issues with ankles. The Shoe (28) is soooo boring and flat with no spark like you get in other more mainstream shoes.
    These stability shoes have been left behind in terms of what’s being put into neutral shoes like the Speed. For me, I’ll stick with a neutral shoe and get the benefits of the new tech and if I need stability I’ll look to an insole. The 28’s are in the bin!

    What a brick. With all these technologies the manufacturers have today at disposal and with a price tag which justifies anything you want to put in the shoe they come up with this brick? And we are supposed to be grateful I guess? Regarding this manufacturer and this particular shoe the word shove and the word up and the word that has something to do with a backside of the human body come to my mind. Can't they make any great shoe other than Metaspeed Sky by that price?
    Ca 200€ (165£) for this?
    Fully agree with your criticism about the prices Fordy, you are absolutely right! It's a mystery to me, how the manufacturers come up these days with anything heavier than 10 Oz (280g) and claim it's some kind of premium shoe? Apparently these days the less competent you are the higher you get in the chain of command, politics or big companies, all the same.

      Mine arrive today. We shall see…interesting comments below about weight. When all the manufacturers went on the “light is better binge,” in many shoes they stopped protecting your foot at the expense of weight. After several years of that, they realized their mistake and that balance in construction is a vital part of a successful shoe for every niche. ASICS has slowly been putting foot protection back in the Nimbus and Kayano lines using better and lighter materials. As you age, protecting your feet is critical as many injuries are not easy to recover from and some are permanently disabling. I’ve been running for over 35 years and choosing shoes is a very different process than it was in my 20’s and 30’s. My plan is to run into my 90’s, but to do that shoe selection is critical. Kayano is not a speed work or short distance racing shoe. There are excellent shoe options for those purposes. This is primarily a distance trainer and half/full marathon shoe - which is the target niche. The weight is fine for its purpose. Shoe pricing is another entirely different rant… 🤣

      I checked out several stores....I got only "high heel" running shoes...high in the back, but my ankles dont like them. In the past, I got an accident and my tendems were torn (I am neutral, though).
      Every seller kept saying "light"
      I dont race. So I dont look for a light pair but I want something that can protect me from injuries or at least reduce the chances.
      The injuries really affect my daily life and they will slowly heal or not completely gone when we are older.

      Well shoes arrived and are on the way back. A lot of nice improvements from the 28, but the forefoot is still not back to a highly protective ride. I can feel the road when I land and toe-off, so no go for me. Too bad, awesome colorway! I’ll stick to the Bondi 8.
