I enjoyed all the Craig - Bonds because he seemed more "human" than the others. No Time To Die IS the last of Daniel Craig and I thought it was actually a pretty good wrap up for his version of Bond. I think you'll like it.
In June 1944, a mere two weeks after the D-Day invasion, Ian Fleming had lunch in Normandy, France with a fellow British Naval Intelligence officer who asked Ian about his plans after the war. Ian replied, "Writing the greatest spy novel."
@Addie Counts In the oldest James Bond movies, Ernst Stavro Blofeld often appeared sitting in a chair stroking his white fluffy cat but never showing his face.
hey Addie.... funfact about the Helicopter scene.... This the Bölkow Bo 105, a german helicopter, that is really able to do loopings and barrel rolls. In fact this BO.105 is in fact from Red Bull overpainted and the pilot is Chuck Aaron, a Red Bull pilot of the aerobatic team Flying Bulls. The helicopter stunt is real For the Explosion of Blofelds base they used 2223 gallons of fuel, around 32kgs of explosives and was all captured in one take - it became the biggest explosion in film history and a Guinness World Record holder.
SPECTRE (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion) is a fictional organization featured in the James Bond novels by Ian Fleming, as well as the films and video games based on those novels. Led by criminal mastermind Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the international organization first formally appeared in the novel Thunderball (1961) and in the film Dr. No (1962).
I love Christoph Waltz in everything he does (even though this wasn't my favorite Daniel Craig Bond film). Although the opening scenes are always fantastic!
Christophe Waltz is the actor who played Ernest Stavros Blofeld the main agitator. Waltz hails from the same country as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Austria. I love Lea Seydoux as Dr Madeline Swann.
SPECTRE stands for SPecial Executive for Counter-Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion. This was the BIG organization Bond fought in the Sean Connery and George Lazenby films. In fact, Ernst Stavro Blofeld appeared in the "Blofeld Trilogy", played by three different actors...Donald Pleasance (You Only Live Twice), Telly Savalas (On Her Majesty's Secret Service), and Charles Gray (Diamonds Are Forever)...and all of them pale next to Christoph Waltz as Blofeld.
Addie, I got a new appreciation for this film after watching you enjoy it! Note, the characters of M, Moneypenny, Q, and even Blofeld are throw backs to the original Bond films, from the 1960's, when those characters were established. You will LOVE the great "flirtations" between the original Bond -- Sean Connery, the true OG -- and the original Moneypenny (the divine Lois Mawell). Sean Connery is simply a treasure in his role as James Bond, the role/character he created for all others to follow. Those early films are so much fun and cool in a historic way. They give you a cool snapshot of the ethos of the Cold War/espionage-era; granted, it's rendered in an over-the-top way, in some ways, with gagets added and fantastic plot scenarios shown, but it's all based on actual facts. The creator of the Bond books, Ian Fleming, actually came from that world, during World War II and afterwards. He wrote Bond as a kind of fantasy version of himself, but the books were all informed by his experience in Intelligence work. Really cool backstory. I think, after seeing the Daniel Craig films, you should just go back in time and experience the original films -- at least the Sean Connery ones -- and see what you think! They are all super fun!
Thanks for your react, Addie. My absolute favorite Bond movie of all time and by far my favorite with Craig. The plot, the villain, pacing, scale, action, music, even the opening credits are all top notch. Sam Mendes is a great director, and Léa Seydoux is just an ornament to any movie. And yes: this could be a great finale to Craig's entire series. I still think that they shouldn't have make "No Time To Die" after such a laconic ending.
Fun fact: after the start of this movie, Mexico decided to have an annual Day of the Dead! And they admitted that it had been inspired by the 007 film SPECTRE.
This is my second-favorite of the Craig films, I really, really enjoyed Spectre. I simply loved the complex layer of him protecting his former antagonist's daughter.
I loved Bond's car when he flicked the switch for atmosphere and it started playing Frank Sinatra!😜😂 Not exactly what he was looking for when being chased by Dave Bautista aka Hinx in his Ferrari.
This one is super underrated. This one and Skyfall are tied as my favorite DC Bonds. It felt good to get Blofeld and the SPECTRE organization back, it tied everything together well.
Even though I grew up on the original Bond films the ones with Craig are my favorite, they more accurately reflect the character of Bond in the novels: jaded, cold and calculating, occasionally charming, and damaged inside and out.
Well, you might enjoy the original Bond films if you enjoy M, Moneypenny, and Q, because they're all in almost every single one of the other Bonds films.
With regards the fight scene on the train between Bond & Hinx. Hinx was played by Dave Bautista who I gather was a professional wrestler in the United States and obviously they had to practice some moves and Bautista said that Daniel Craig did really well and actually got him a good punch. Luckily Dave doesn't hold a grudge.
Hi Addie. Really enjoyed your reaction as ever. Fun fact; The safe house 'Hildebrand' isn't a random name. It pays homage to a short Bond story written by Ian Fleming entitled 'The Hildebrand Rarity' of which the plot was used in Octopussy. See ya
Both Lea Seydoux and Christophe Waltz return in No Time To Die (2021). You are absolutely correct in that it is Daniel Craig's final Bond film. The next Bond film after NTTD hasn't even been started on yet. Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson made a statement in 2022 with regards the next Bond actor and movie. In it they said that work would not really begin for at least 2 years and that was sometime in mid-2022. Broccoli said that there are no names in the frame as to who will replace Daniel Craig, and that they would have to sit down and discuss what sort of direction they wanted to take the franchise in before drawing up a list of suitable candidates to take on the role of 007. So, I think that we can safely assume that there will be no real information to be had on who the next 007 will be or anything about the next film in the Bond film franchise before summer 2024 at the earliest. Broccoli has also gone on to say that the next Bond movie will not be until at least 2025 or even 2026 but there should be a film before the end of 2027.
Bond: "Vodka martini" Bartender: "Shaken or stirred?" Bond: "Do I look like I give a damn?" The moment Daniel Craig took the reigns and 007 darker, and I will love it forever.
this movie has so many easter eggs/throwbacks to the classic Connery and Moore movies I hope you get to watch those at some point, but I dont think that is gonna be the case :D
SPECTRE was co-created by Ian Fleming and Kevin McClory in 1960 during their failed attempt to make the first Bond movie on their own. Because McClory sued Fleming in 1961, the future Bond producers (Broccoli & Saltzman) didn't have full rights to use SPECTRE by name after 1967. And they stopped using the character Blofeld after 1971.
What I like about the 007 movies is that each one had an identity of their own, because each movie was done by a different director Sam Mendes should've left the franchise while he could
I'm in a minority who actually prefer the second half of this film to the first. Craig's Bond just works better when the stakes become more personal. And that train fight is great - Dave Bautista being one of the few villains who can actually out-heavy Daniel Craig.
If you have a hard time relating to Bond in the Craig movies you really won’t like any of the other Bonds. This is the most human and realistic version of the character.
It's hard to beat Skyfall, but Spectre is really good. Getting into the back story of Bond and his ties to Blofeld is great. The action is solid. Lea is just amazing in the role. We get the largest explosion filmed in this one too. No Time to Die is an extremely fitting end to things, and pulls so many things together very beautifully.
This is an underrated bond film but this one HAS the Bond formula: from, finally, the gunbarrel back at the beginning, some small jokes here and there to Blofeld himself after so many years and a henchman! A good Bond movie imo, not as good as Casino Royale nor Skyfall or some previous ones like License to Kill, but a good all around Bond movie
18:44 Armies and governments have been making the mistake of confusing technological superiority for physical dominance since forever. The US and Europe had to learn it again in the Afghan war when it was rediscovered-- and subsequently re-forgotten-- that drones and signals intelligence can only do so much without recon and field officer support. No matter what the battle if you can't hold your ground you can't win, and you're not holding anything without physical assets on the ground.
To see more of the M you like I suggest checking out the Bronson Bond movies. I also think the two Dalton Bond movies are great also. Again, nothing against the other Bond actors, just not a fan of older movies much..
Excellent reaction, Addie. Spectre (2015) was the second Daniel Craig James Bond movie that I saw in theaters, but not in IMAX though. This was also the first Daniel Craig James Bond movie, and overall first James Bond movie since Die Another Day (2002), to be Filmed In Panavision (anamorphic). The gunbarrel sequence at the beginning is how a James Bond movie usually opens. Casino Royale (2006) had one that seagued into the main title sequence and Quantum of Solace (2008) & Skyfall (2012) had it at the end. The opening shot in this movie inspired director Sam Mendes to film his next movie, 1917 (2019) as if it were a one-shot. Next stop, No Time To Die (2021).
As good as the newer Bond films are, at some point you definitely should go back & watch the originals, starting with the Sean Connery films (specifically 'Dr.No').
Spectre gives me the strange feeling that nobody wants to do this movie. Even the car chase looks sterile and has no tension at all. Shooting sequence (escape after head drilling) looks like a late Steven Seagal. However, NTTD is even worse.
Exactly. I miss the days when you could tell the filmmakers were having fun making a Bond movie. The Craig era has sucked all the joy and excitement out of the franchise.
The only Daniel Craig 007's I liked were Casino Royale, and (to a much less extent) Skyfall. The other three were not good, especially this one. You really should check out the earlier Bond films, they were far more fun, as the writers and directors didn't take themselves so seriously back then.
Hey Addie I noticed you had comments turned off on your JoJo Rabbit video, was it because of the subject matter, was just wondering:)? By the way, the mom being killed caught me by surprise as well, despite all the foreshadowing:)?
I don’t get the hate for this one, admittedly I do have fond memories of seeing it in IMAX (and then a week later where the beginning was drowned out by the weather. Pitfalls of having a cinema mere feet from the sea) but I do enjoy it.
That line “We placed 160,000 migrated females in the leisure section” makes me sick . If you don’t get the gist, they are using a sterilized term for trafficking women into forced prostitution.
France and all of mainland Europe is accessible to cars from the UK via numerous ferries carrying cars and passengers and the Eurostar rail link between London and Paris that also carries cars. It is basically possible to drive from the UK to Europe.
I've liked this movie more than most. There are some really good story choices and some terrible ones as well as some great scenes and some terrible ones. The terrible ones are what keeps this from being one of the greats, which will always be a source of frustration for me, but still I'm able to enjoy this one.
It's funny nowadays that you have a younger actor playing Q who has the jokea and Bond giving him a dirty look when he disrespects something 007 holds dear like his old Aston Martin. For many decades it was the other way around when Desmond Llewellyn was Q.
so you are having a hard time getting into these movies... I hope you are enjoying them somewhat at least...and you do seem to be enjoying them. For me...I've said this before, but I only liked the first 2 Craig Bond movies. And I dislike the rest of his, especially his last one. What it is for me is the writing. Little by little, movie by movie Bond is slowly written to be a different character than he has been for the previous 20+ movies in the franchise. And I grew up with the original Bond movies, the Sean Connery and Roger Moore mainly, then again I grew up in the 70's and 80's. It was always, no matter who played Bond or who wrote and produced and directed the Bond movie, you always knew you'd get Bond. And the Daniel Craig movies is a different character! If you take the name "Bond" out of it and just see it as a generic spy/action movie then they are good movies...mostly... but certainly not Bond movies. In my opinion of course!
I hope Addie didn't disable her comments due to hater comments? Who could possibly say or feel any thing negative towards the beautiful, wonderful and charming person that is Addie. #ProudmemberoftheAteam
This movie's finale should have taken place at Blofeld's lair instead of returning back to London. The movie lost momentum there. But I definitely see why Sam Mendes wanted to do this movie after Skyfall, as this one got to feature some of the Roger Moore era elements, but it was definitely an underwhelming faollow-up. Still good though for sure.
I hope you do Bronson next. Daniel Craig is great to an extent but Bronson really brought the franchise back on top with goldeneye. I don’t count 4th installment example die another die or the 4th of this one. Bronson is an underrated actor really brought back the physic of Bond I’m sure some like Craig better that’s fine but most would agree with me. Like Connery, Bronson was Bond is every way
Brosnan was by no measure the best bond. The people I see the most, saying he was the best, they say it's because he was the Bond they grew up with. Most people I've seen, have Sean Connery and Daniel Craig, as their top Bond. Personally, I hated the Brosnan Bond movies. They are all the Bond movies, I ever only watched once. They just got more, and more ridiculous. Action without story, impossible gadgets etc. What I like about the Craig movies, is that he's not invinsible.
@@aTofuJunkie His movies were not bad (storywize), but I could never take him too serious. He looked kind of a whimp to me, and not a tough agent, with license to kill.
A lot of people did not like this movie when Irma came out, but I thought it was brilliant. It’s funny, but movies most people love (like Skyfall) I found less than stellar, and other movies most people find less than stellar (like SPECTRE) I love. Oh well.
That's the interesting thing about the Bond series -- apart from a few undisputed classics, most fans have wildly differing opinions on most of the movies. You don't really see that in many other franchises. And I agree that "Skyfall" may have usurped "Goldfinger" as the most overrated Bond movie; I mean, it has the same basic premise as "GoldenEye," FFS. Of course, on the other side, I happen to like the highly polarizing "Moonraker" quite a bit.
I'm on the fence with this film. On the one hand it's beautifully shot, the actors are all amazing in their parts, the action is on point as well as the usual Bondisms. But I just...don't understand what's going on in this one. Even on a second watch it's still going over my head why Bond took it on himself to help Swan and why he then goes into Blofelds base to confront him...with the woman he's trying to protect from them. It just feels like he's only doing these things to advance the story.
I love the nod to “Inglorious Bastards”, where Blofeld talks about meeting Swan at her father’s home as a little girl
It's not the same actress. This is Léa Seydoux. The actress in Inglourious Basterds was Mélanie Laurent.

I don’t get the hate for this one, admittedly I do have fond memories of seeing it in IMAX (and then a week later where the beginning was drowned out by the weather. Pitfalls of having a cinema mere feet from the sea) but I do enjoy it.
The muscle man is Batista a famous professional wrestler
Seems you didn't notice
I love Daniel Craigs Bond, he just blows shit up like you would in a video game, no need for sexy gidgets and gadgets, mf old fashoined lol.
How could the guy in the white suit be alive he was in the room when the bomb went off, and it brought down the whole building.
I like this movie
That line “We placed 160,000 migrated females in the leisure section” makes me sick . If you don’t get the gist, they are using a sterilized term for trafficking women into forced prostitution.
France and all of mainland Europe is accessible to cars from the UK via numerous ferries carrying cars and passengers and the Eurostar rail link between London and Paris that also carries cars. It is basically possible to drive from the UK to Europe.
❤❤❤❤❤
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Spectre is an ok film with some brilliant sequences in it. Some of the best in any Bond film, I think. But the overall film is a bit... meh.
I didn't see the next one. So not sure how it is.
Like Connery, Bronson was Bond is every way
Brosnan
Brosnan was by no measure the best bond. The people I see the most, saying he was the best, they say it's because he was the Bond they grew up with.
Most people I've seen, have Sean Connery and Daniel Craig, as their top Bond.
Personally, I hated the Brosnan Bond movies. They are all the Bond movies, I ever only watched once. They just got more, and more ridiculous. Action without story, impossible gadgets etc.
What I like about the Craig movies, is that he's not invinsible.
@@akyhne Dalton's Bond was vastly underrated.
@@aTofuJunkie His movies were not bad (storywize), but I could never take him too serious. He looked kind of a whimp to me, and not a tough agent, with license to kill.
Charles Bronson? Yeah, that would be cool.
A lot of people did not like this movie when Irma came out, but I thought it was brilliant. It’s funny, but movies most people love (like Skyfall) I found less than stellar, and other movies most people find less than stellar (like SPECTRE) I love. Oh well.
Glad to see someone else who wasn't a fan of Skyfall. I don't get the love for that movie.
Of course, on the other side, I happen to like the highly polarizing "Moonraker" quite a bit.
nice
😎👍
Air = Ejecto-Seato-Cuzz
This had its moments but it almost feels like the director decided to take acid and watch too many Wes Anderson movies during the filming.
