    • @AdeptusCaeiusIII
      @AdeptusCaeiusIII 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

You also see the parallel between him and Bond, with Bond preferring to 'do it more traditional'. It wasn't a particularly forward thing, but a nice touch from the writers.

According to the Scotland Wild website, which is Scotland's website to draw tourism, the actual "lodge" set was built on land owned by the Department of Defence in Surrey England. It was constructed for the film and then destroyed. It did, however, look similar to a structure that was further down the road. Additionally, the role of Kincaid was added to the movie after a planned cameo for Sean Connery fell through. He was going to be the lodge steward who happened to be a retired 00 agent (unnamed), but because of his failing health at the time, he could not complete the shoots and ended up dropping out. They actually went after Dalton, and Lazenby but, obviously, neither agreed to do it. So they rewrote the role to that of Kincaid and dropped the retired 00 storyline. Great reactions, lots of fun!! Looking forward to Spectre!!

Surrey's in England but otherwise you're right, it's an area between the villages of Elstead and Thursley. The dummy lodge was built was built on Ministry of Defence land just outside the villages which was (and still is) used for military exercises and previously as a drop zone for paratroop training. The level of detail on the dummy lodge was incredible.

There's a few stories going about around the Kincaid character. The one I've heard (and that Mendes has repeated) is that the role was written to lure Connery out of retirement by the writers and producers. But Mendes felt that it would be too much of a circus to actually go through with it so the role was never offered to him. You can definitely hear Connery in the "Welcome to Scotland" line though.

Javier’s portrayal of Silva was likely influenced, at least in some capacity, by Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker. Both manipulate events from a distance, arrange for themselves to be captured and brought to the good guys’ headquarters in order to escape and mess up their whole system, are dark reflections of the protagonist, are violently insane yet playfully charming, and Silva even has his own “wanna know how I got these scars” moment when he pulls out his dentures.

One of the best things about this movie is the way they slowly brought back and gave background and foundational relationship building for the elements of classic Bond movies that Daniel Craig's era had sort of distanced itself from in the first two films. We got the classic OG Bond crew of M (in this case a male M like in old films), Moneypenny, Q, and Bond together, and we got to see all 4 of them operate as an actual team, which makes their relationship even stronger for later stories. What I always loved about this movie is that in that courthouse fight scene, when you see everyone ducking out of the way, Mallory is the only person jumping over the tables and running towards danger and pulling M out of the way - it shows you without really saying a word just how he's as much of a warrior as Bond is, which is why in many ways he's the perfect leader that Bond would listen to, someone who understands the battlefield.

Hands down for me not only the best of Daniel Craig's Bond films, but one of the best of the entire franchise!
Story, casting, characters, music - everything was just perfect for this film.... apart from the demise of 'M', which I believe had something to do with the studio wanting to 'reinvigorate' the franchise.
BIG shout out to the theme song sung by Adele, my favorite Bond song of all time!: it's widely reported that Daniel Craig apparently cried hearing it saying it was just perfect! - & that he tried to get her back for his remaining 2 films, but it wasn't to be!

The new Q is great! Ben Wishaw is killing it - and he's consistently good in the future movies. By the way, Skyfall was one of the movies that was kind of imitating The Dark Knight, but didn't cock it up by completely missing the point. There were a lot of movies that came out that were just trying to be edgy, dark, and gritty that just didn't understand why it worked for Batman, but not Spider-Man, or the 2017 Power Rangers, Star Trek Into Darkness, etc, but THIS MOVIE absolutely understood what made that movie great.

Highest-grossing Bond film of all time and released during the 50th Anniversary.
Bond remembering his tragic past, rebuilding his body & soul,
recharging his character to being the best in the game.
Judi Dench as the only female 'M' within 17 years and 2 eras.
Tied with the late Bernard Lee, who played the role first in the earliest films.
Saw this in IMAX and i was blown away.
Bardem as the villain, Introducing franchise favorites (Q & Moneypenny), getting a new M and the title theme by Adele is so good.
A definite bounce-back from the previous film.
Showing us once again why no does it better than 007.

There were plans to bring Sean Connery back to act in the role of Kincade, the gamekeeper at the Skyfall Estate. Rumors range that they did ask but he said no, or they didn't ask due to either already knowing his answer or because they feared the audience would get confused by his appearance.

This movie has such an interesting dichotomy to it. On the one hand, it’s a story about Old vs New and that Bond and M are coming to the end of their tenure and yet at the same time, we’re reintroducing characters from the original franchise in the form of Q, Mallory, and Moneypenny as the newer generation. No other franchise has done that before.

This was the movie that made me love the Bond franchise. I knew of him, but the idea of Bond never really appealled to me before I saw this. I immediately went to my local library looking for the original Fleming novels after this.
Love how everything about Bond seems crippled and isolated, old and alone. Even his childhood home looks as isolated as can be. It's a very personal story mixed with some amazing action. That scene you said looked like John Wick was probably why I loved JW so much when I saw it, I could never find another fight scene like that Skyfall skyscraper scene, creative with the neon and glass, until the JW's came out.
The next two are a treat and will have some more familiar faces in them.

M's death here really hit hard because she has been M far longer then Craig has been Bond. people forget sometimes that Dame Judy Dench had played M since the Pierce Brosnon days. she already had 4 films as M under her belt by the time Casino Royale came out. and for many, she was the M people had grown up with.
but it was all handled phenomenally. an excellent movie, and a nice homage to the bonds of the past.

The opening credits in this film are a microcosm of the actual story, the recurring theme is obscurity and reflection (smoke and mirrors), Bond is shown shooting himself in the mirrors as an early indication that the primary antagonist is as you find out and ex MI6 agent, who's every move is misdirection and subterfuge aimed at derailing MI6's every attempt to gain the upper hand which end up bringing about the very thing the antagonist wants to happen, this is another occasion in the Bond series where, although the antagonist dies, he dies knowing that he has won, and nothing Bond did was able to stop that.

So this film was actually filmed in Hankley common, which is near Pinewood studios (known for 007 films) and about 5 miles away from where I used to live, its army land where they regularly train and fly chinooks into, but also open to public, they built the Skyfall manor there….twice because they blew it up twice to get the right shots, we have a lot of films made near here, the Witcher and gladiator were filmed in Bourne woods a couple of miles away from Hankley, again as it’s close to Pinewood studios, and these are where I walk my dog

I forgot how good Sam Mendes is as a Director.
He makes movies that feel quite real and plausible, even a Bond movie. lol
Definitely watch "1917", if you haven't done already.
Although, he did also direct Spectre (2015), which I didn't like so much.
It was better than some of the previous Bond movies, but not as good as Skyfall, imo.
Javier Bardem was an inspired choice for a Bond villian.
If you've ever seen "The Man With The Golden Gun" (1974), Skyfall has some obvious "nods" to that movie, like Javier's island.

Silva didn't actually hack them but he had his computer programmed to do so once it was connected to the new M5 network. He planned it all. He wanted to get captured. And one thing to remember, no satellite, no electronic intercept can get the access that an agent can. You can't get away from the human side.

Of the Daniel Craig Bond films, I easily love Skyfall the most, hands down. Casino Royale, also excellent, solid #2. Frankly I think Skyfall is my favourite Bond film, period - I've seen nearly all the Bond films save for the Lazenby and Dalton films and feel confident in saying this.
The parallels between Craig's Bond series and The Dark Knight trilogy are pretty strong, too; Batman Begins directly influenced the realistic, gritty reboot that was Casino Royale, and Skyfall and The Dark Knight have so many parallels - and both are awesome in their own right.
