I'm not so sure. The shaving scene in Skyfall was seeringly intimate; far more so than any encounter they've ever had. The look between Bond and Moneypenny suggested they could take the next step.

Fun fact: before this movie, there was no such thing as a Dia De Los Muertos parade. The day was traditionally a quiet, introspective day to spend with family. (More like Christmas, less like New Years) but in a bit of Hollywood exotification, they *staged* a parade for the movie. They got a bunch of local artists and performers to come out for it and everyone had so much fun it became a new tradition and now they have the parade every year.

James Bond started driving an Aston Martin from the 3rd film, Goldfinger in 1964. 5 of the 6 actors who've portrayed Bond had driven an Aston Martin in the 007 movies. The DB10 in Spectre was made specifically for this film, Aston Martin did not make any for sale to the general public.

21:20 It's ironic/funny that you say this scene (Bond meeting Madelaine at her clinic) is very "third act of Inception", when in fact Nolan was actually 'homaging' a James Bond film with that third act of Inception. In the 1969 Bond film, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, the villain also had a Swiss mountain top lair :)

  • @CorneelVf

Fun fact: the reason why Bond doesn't run in the opening is because Daniel Craig had his knee operated after injuring himself filming the train fight with Dave Bautista. They couldn't delay shooting in Mexico any longer and had to film it. The script had Bond running, but Craig was unable to do so. So they added in the police officers watching the parade from the side as a reason for Bond not to run, him not wanting to raise alarm.

In the original Octopussy Bond movie Sir Roger Moore is staring at a octopus tattoo on Maud Adams who is absolutely gorgeous, so she catches him and he asks her what the tattoo means and she responds in the sexiest most provocative tone of voice “oh that’s my little octopussy”. Iconic and literally makes you sweat as she gazes at James Bond as she says it. Fun times 😊

Great reaction Cobi like always, there are some fun-facts about this one, Largest explosion in a single take in filming history was in this movie. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest film stunt explosion was the destruction of Blofeld's base in Spectre. It was staged in Morocco, using 10,000 litres of fuel and 33kg of explosives. The total explosive yield was equivalent to 68 tonnes of TNT. The opening sequence in Mexico's Day of the Dead is shot in one take for several minutes with no cuts. (one take that was 4 minutes) The fight scene (and the love that followed) is an homage to the Orient Express scene from "From Russia with Love". That film is notable, for one reason, because of the fight scene between Robert Shaw's character and Bond. Amazing films, both of them. Daniel Craig while filming the fight scene with Dave Bautista, Craig accidentally breaks Dave nose after being punched. Monica Belucci portray as the oldest Bond Girl to date. Daniel Craig did most of the movie with a injured leg that happen during the fight scene in the train. And the Aston Martin car is one of a kind model and is build specifically for the movie. Keep up the good work.

I was not aware that you are Australian. I am too. In fact, there has been an Aussie Bond. George Lazenby. He played James Bond in only one film in the series, "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969). He isn't considered one of the best Bonds, but he still gives a good performance, and the film itself is one of the most cinematically beautiful of the entire 007 series.

Hi Coby, I`m glad you have enjoyed your Bond experience so far. I hope sometime in the future, you will at least contrast these with Sean Connery`s run of 5 films. It will also give you a chance to see what International places looked like, back in the `60`s. He did 1 other official Bond film in 1971. This followed the 1 film in 1969 starring his first proposed replacement, the Australian Actor George Lazenby.

    @BillTheScribe 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

"Pull up on the collective?" it was clear from other movies that you knew cars, but that's kind of a specific bit of knowledge about helicopters. Nice.
Movie Bond got the Aston Martin DB-V in Goldfinger, then held onto it for a few films. Starting in the 70's Roger Moore switch to some version of Lotus Esprit. The Spy Who Loved me is the best showing for it. Dalton went back to an Aston Martin in The Living Daylights. Brosnan's first few movies were 2 hour ads for BMW. Then Aston stepped in and said there is no way Bond would drive a non-British car for whichever one had Halley Barry in it (the titles all run together on the Brosnan movies that weren't Goldeneye). Craig has been in an Aston for the full run.
Several stunts in Bond movies have set world records. The car flipping in Casino Royale was one. There was a Bungee jump in Goldeneye that was highest ever. The longest boat jump was in Live and Let Die, and so on. There was also a nice car jump in The Man with the Golden Gun that was absolutely ruined by the sound/music effect used.

There was a TV show called The Saint which was a Bond type of show staring Sir Rodger Moore. They wanted him to succeed Sean Connery as James Bond since the TV show was a big hit in England. After finishing his time as The Saint he became the new James Bond. In 1997 the tv show was made into a movie called The Saint which started a young Val Kilmer who killed it as the Saint or as he was called Saint Simon Templar, aka Saint Martin DePoras, aka Thomas Moore, and other well known catholic saints were his aliases. The Saint movie also starred a young Elizabeth Shue. Originally the movie did make a lot of money but was not well received but since it has become a cult classic for Bond fans. I actually loved the movie and Val Kilmer and Elizabeth Shues on screen chemistry. Very underrated movie

Ernst Stavro Blofeld's appearance in the shadows without revealing his face is a call back to the Sean Connery films as James Bond. The first time Blofeld appeared in the Sean Connery films, we only saw his hands petting his white persian cat and giving orders to his Spectre agents. We even didn't know his name until his full face reveal that happened when he and James Bond met for the first time face to face, only knowing him as Number 1 because he was the leader of Spectre and Bond's arch nemesis. The scar in Blofeld's face also is a call back to the old James Bond movies. Also in the Sean Connery films, Bond and Blofeld are not related by a common past, but in the Daniel Craig films, they put them as adoptive brothers.

The movies mostly use aston martins. In the books he drove a bentley (originally based on Fleming's own bentley Blower race car, but later the main bentley models) Also he famously drove Lotus or BMW cars with MI6 custom gadgets. At least once he drove a ford mustang in live and let die and he once had to have a car chase in a citroen (as a joke when the movies got more silly) , which is like a VW beetle lol. Bond's uncle also had a bentley which bond ends up stealing as a kid, sparking his passion for Bentley ( or aston martin in the movies)

Did you notice that the opening was seemingly one continuous shot lasting for several minutes?
Well, seemingly. There are some hidden cuts when they move through doors, but darn if I can spot them. 😊
Since Javier Bardem and Christoph Waltz made it big internationally as villains around the same time, in No Country for Old Men, and Inglourious Basterds respectively, I figured that it was just a matter of time before they became James Bond villains. And then they were, in subsequent movies.
It's interesting to see you *starting* with the Daniel Craig movies. It's been unusual for the series to have them be so connected, and as you noticed, Casino Royale was a complete reboot. So technically, none of the old movies are part of the same continuity, though they have many tongue in cheek references to them anyway. In particular, the Aston Martin DB5 is very much a callback to the Sean Connery movies.
It wasn't always the case that Bond drove Astons, though. Roger Moore never did. Maybe because Aston Martin itself was in financial trouble during his era. But he *did* drive an Aston when he spoofed himself in The Cannonball Run. The James Bond producers were not happy about that.
Anyway, the Daniel Craig movies have faced criticism for diverging too much from the formula. Not so much womanising, not that many gadgets. Things that were mainly invented in the movies and were not in the original novels anyway. So it's nice to see you without any preconceived notions.

I don't hate 'Spectre' but I remember feeling that it was the first real misstep with the Craig era. The previous three films hadn't been entirely to my taste (I'm a diehard Brosnan fan) but I could see they were objectively well made and going for a clear style. 'Spectre' felt awkward, especially the attempt to retcon Raoul Silvia as an agent/puppet of Spectre. Also - and I know this is super subjective - Lea Seydoux feels a step down from Eva Green and Olga Kurylenko. The worst part though was that this the *fifth* film in a row the writers had Bond go rogue and/or quit MI6! Having seen Bond go through something similar in every film since 'Die Another Day' undermined a lot of the emotional oomph in this film.

45:11 You’ll find this is a Bond franchise trait. As Dr Evil explains “I’m going to place him in an easily escapable situation involving an overly elaborate and exotic death… [then] leave [him] alone and not actually witness [him] dying… [and] assume it all went to plan.” 🤓

Mr. White was last seen in the Tosca opera in Quantum of Solace along with Greene and the other Quantum members who were only a tentacle of Spectre. Mr. White remained in his seat at the opera when all the others escaped and gave Bond their identities, thus remaining at large from Bond until this movie.

This is a really good series they made with him, far better than the other Bond movies,in my opinion at least. Not only are the stunts and action scenes far superior but the story is really good and intriguing as well, makes you want to follow it and see more. I know I've said this before and don't wanna sound repetitive, but I just CANNOT get over how gorgeous you are, beauty that belongs on a billboard or a magazine somewhere, very impressive.

Christoph Waltz was sort of a bond villain in another movie-- 1989's Ian Fleming bio pic "Goldeneye" -- not to be confused with 1995's "Goldeneye" which is one of the best james bond movies. (Both movies were named after Ian Fleming's estate in Jamaica.(and possibly a WWII secret mission code name))-- Anyway--in the movie Waltz plays a Nazi officer POW that Fleming has taken out drinking to see if he says anything. Waltz is of course very famous for his other role as a Nazi officer in Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards"

This is the only Bond I’ve seen in IMAX (on the second biggest screen in the country) and it was spectacular, sadly second time round was at a cinema mere feet from the sea, in a storm so we could barely hear the opening. Weirdly the same thing happened in Empire Of Light, I don’t think my local likes me seeing Sam Mendes films.

@2:48 nope, leather shoes with leather soles are trash to quickly move about in. Especially pointed toe shoes. Perhaps these are rubber soles but that doesn’t seem very posh nor proper.
However there are shoes who skirt the lines of being more sporting (a cap toe and probably more eyelets than a typical dress shoe would have) while still being dressy. I assume dress security details (aka usa’s secret service) prefer specific brands.
    - Said the person who has tried to run full out in pointed leather dress shoes is excessively hard.

Among the Daniel Craig ovies I enyou this a lot, although the opinios are diverse. It is a return to somethings that made the bond films popular. Q, the gadgets, The villain, the Organization Spectre. The issue for some is that there are some references to older Bond Films, that for me is not an issue.

"When did the vibe change to kissing her!?" Within the world of the deeply corrupt, which includes the women who either fall victim through grooming during their youth (like in Skyfall), or who get lured by the skin surface glamor while looking away from the criminality, sex is used (and misused) for many things. In her case he just saved her life, so she's thanking him, while he's just using her as a ladder rung, to get closer to who he wants. Also, the real life adrenaline one must feel having just escaped death, and in Bond's case, killing two people, that must create an unstoppable attraction. Shwing! That "stud/hound" aspect is one of the pillars upon which his identity, job, success, legacy and lore, was built. As written by James Bond creator, Ian Fleming a few years after WW2.
