@@commiecat455 those are rookie numbers. Jokes aside: I think I’ve replayed this game (as well as System Shock 2 and bloodlines) every year since it’s released
I miss the body-zone damage model of the original. You could literally lose limbs and keep playing as if you were the Black Knight from the Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "'Tis but a scratch!"
I must’ve played this game all the way through at least 10 times. And then the revision mod came out and I played it again for another eight. It’s phenomenal.
The first mission is kinda rough but after that it's really fun 👍 Also, if you decrease your pistol skill on a new game, you get the points back for free.
If you're a gamer and haven't played it, PLAY IT! To date, it's my favorite game of all time: it's in my Top 5. Despite its age (with outdated graphics and mechanics), I always recommend to friends to buy it. It's a gem in anyone's collection. Outdated graphics mean nothing to me, so long as I enjoy the game I couldn't care less. Just because a game looks dated doesn't mean it's not worth playing... I always keep in mind that when a game released, it was shiny and cutting edge in its generation. For me there are two things that decide if I play a game to the end: FIRST, is Story; SECOND, is Gameplay; and these are interchangeable. A game can have great gameplay but a crappy/mediocre story. As for graphics, I don't think I've ever dropped a game just because it had bad/outdated graphics. Deus Ex from 2000 is worth playing... it just winds me up when people pass over old games just because they don't look shiny and new anymore: you miss out on some of the greatest games ever made.
Never played this game before and within 3 levels its already at Fallout New Vegas level. There's a mod on steam called Revision which fixes alot of issues people were having trying to run it on modern computers. Highly recommend.
Eh, Revision also changes a lot of the levels by adding unnecessary additions that ruin the flow of the game. It is very possible to get patches for the game to make it playable on modern machines that don’t alter the actual game, so I would recommend you do that instead.
Title music and spinning icon gives me the members. I used to play this with a MS Sidewinder Dual Strike controller, a very unique gamepad. Good times.
It’s worth installing an overhaul mod for it - one that keeps the art direction but just adds some quality of life features. If you’re new to older games and can get past the way it looks, you’ll quickly understand why it’s regarded as one of the best games of all time. It’s a true globe-trotting, near-future detective story, and it’s honestly ridiculous in the scope of its ambition. Just when you think you’re near the end - the game will keep going and going.
I don't remember how much cost Deus EX in moment of buying (think 2 years ago or longer) but I have a very good impression about this game. Really one is best games of 2000th
find out someone who lives near by , go out at night sneak into their house , hack into their computer , download a copy of Deus Ex , copy to a thumb drive , turn on a tap ,leave via window , go home enjoy

I would of never known either.... Thanks Gamestop dude, a most well deserved ty
Sadly to say I never got to beat this. I played the PS2 port in the early 2000's and remembered I loved it but didn't remember much of the story from when I was a kid. Only after playing again did I realize how smart the writing was. Even the scenarios in the game are relevant today with talk of vaccines for the grey death among other topics. Absolutely every bit of this went over my head as a kid but playing as an adult makes it awesome because I understand all of the geo political lingo these days.
I think it’s worth it, tho damn I wish I played it befire I played human revolution cuz a large part of me hates how primitive the stealth and combat is compared to the newer games , but it is still a damn good game. I find the body health thing interesting, losing your legs but still being able to kick some ass is awesome
I still haven’t played it but as soon as I get a pc I’m there. It’s been on my list since launch when it was “The Bladerunner game starring a digital John Travolta”
That's a renderer issue actually, you can fix it by getting the D3D10 or D3D9 renderers. You can also try getting the kentie launcher that provides numerous options and tweaks
If you don't own Deus Ex I actually do blame you. It's fucking great.
Agreed. Even with all of these new games I still go on stores ps network or Xbox store to see if it’s finally backwards compatible
Haha, same here. Deus Ex still is the first game I install on my new PCs.

Yes, you should buy it. Now excuse me while I turn on all the faucets and throw basketballs at my boss.

My first game. Still holds up in my option. Better than many games out in the market today.
The mechanics have definitely aged well
When you realize that there are people well out of college who weren't born when this came out. God I feel old.
Yep.
Yep...
First timer here. About to start Hong Kong, which I have read about, and still has not called my attention. My character has a trained swimming skill.
