This is one of the best videos I have ever seen on redoing a project. Finishing pallet wood is such a pain with all the different species going on, and you really made some good choices and experiments along the way. Most important message is probably don't be afraid to cut up your project and make adjustments. Thanks for this Mark!

  • @heroblaze2

So many channels edit their videos so it looks like they can complete complex builds with no issues what so ever. I love that fact that you don’t shy away from showing your complete process, mistakes happen and there’s always a way to make them work for you.! It’s makes us more inclined to want to try things as we know that making a mistake doesn’t mean the project is a write off.

Missed the first video, but this follow up has made me want to go back and see where this came from!
I think the white wash looks good, at a glance it almost looks like a marble top - a great combination for the dark wood front.
I personally would have been happy with the old finish, the chevron design was a clear design choice, but obviously you know your local market and you want to put out quality furniture that you are happy with.

There will always be a buyer for handmade one-off pieces that are unique. i'm really glad you fixed that curve as that was messing with my ocd. lol. while personally i'm not a fan of whitewashed furniture and i much preferred the timber look, there will be stacks of people who will love the distressed whitewash look. stick with your gut and what you feel is right. if the quality is good then there will be oodles of people who will like what you like too. if people really want it then they'll pay freight. the price is very reasonable for a custom one-off piece, mate.

Hello, I am just starting to get into pallet building while only having a table saw and a miter saw. Any tips for getting straight edge? I am thinking of getting a planet soon but it seems hard to get started because all the wood seems to need a whole lot of work and not much progress gets done. I need guides!!

I can't lie, I love the styling, but would have preferred if the top had been a grey stain to see the grain/figure and the front being a black stain, again, for the same reasons.

I see a black drawer, and I want to paint it black! (Your probably so young your like wtf?). It's just as well you make mistakes Mark, otherwise you wouldn't make anything! I can only speak for myself, but I learn way more watching someone fix something than seeing them getting it right first time.

Hi Mark, brilliant stuff you do. So brilliant I've got myself some tools to have a go myself. Do you do all your slabs to the same thickness or different for each job?

When I saw the video drop I thought farrrrrkk he's made another one.... nope, but you almost might of well have. The two are night and day. Don't get me wrong, I loved the 'old' one, but it was pallet wood furniture. This is art :D PS - 04:42 - When you are at the Woody Dust hit up the MTC folks for a sexy spoke shave set ;)

Have a question if you see this because I can't find the answer anywhere, Do you check the moisture content on pallets before using them for your work?

Yea, Im from Croatia. People rather go to some shop and buy $hit for more money instead buy really good thing from handmade guy. Im that guy who tries to do things.
