I loved Richard Pryor. He was a great comedian and multi talented man. He was human and he did make some mistakes but that was back when people could recognize and appreciate a talent while realizing someone is human and may make some mistakes in life. RIP Mr. Pryor, you earned every second of it.

What a comic legend! Had the pleasure of meeting Richard in 1985 when he was in his (and my) hometown, Peoria, IL. He was back filming his biographical comedy-drama "Jo Jo Dancer Your Life is Calling". Richard co-wrote, directed, produced and starred in this film. I was an emergency room nurse at the time and they needed medical personnel on set "just in case", so that is how our paths crossed. He was very kind to me. What a tough beginning, growing up in a brothel, paving the path in comedy, his struggle with drugs and health issues at the end. RIP Richard.

Richard Pryor, what game changer he was in the comedy world! What a life he had and he was so open about his past and he health struggles towards the end of his life. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend the biographical film Richard Pryor wrote & starred in, Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling, about his life, drug use, and this very incident. Hope he is resting in peace. While I appreciate you going to these locations, the whole time watching I thought you were going to be mauled by a dog or hit by a car! Take care.

I was lucky enough to have seen Richard Pryor doing a Stand Up Comedy Show Live at Westbury Music Fair on Long Island before he died. Well he wasn't really standing up he came sitting in a Wheelchair ♿ and did his act sitting down the whole time but he was still funny as hell. It was the last stand up tour he did before he passed. RIP Richard. 🪦🌹

Richard was such an icon. No one will ever come close to him. I was just saying a week or so ago that we need new comics like him. We need the raw comedy of the 80s to come back, I think it helped keep people in touch with reality and, in a way, toughened them up a bit. We need that again.

He was a tough act to follow. Richard was definitely the funniest comedian I have ever seen. If I knew he was going to be on TV that night, I'd cancel any plans I had to stay home and watch him. He was so good. For some reason I have always felt like a lot of comedians have this very sad side to them that no one ever sees until stories like these come out about them. I feel like their comedy is their escape to the life they longed for or maybe the happiness that's lost in their every day lives. It's very sad to see someone who gave us so much laughter, go through such a long and I'm sure painful death. I'll tell you what though, heavens got one heck of a stage show going on up there with all of the greats that are gone. Thank you for this wonderful video Scott, to help us remember the laughter Richard Pryor left behind for generations to come. May he rest in eternal peace forever more. ❤ 💐

My parents and I were but faceless, nameless white fans of Richard Pryor's comedy hilarity. Dad & Mom (and later, with remastered reissues, me) bought every record album, watched every TV and cable special, and watched all of his movies. I mention race because at the time, the 60s & 70s, in rural 'hillbilly' Kentucky, not many dared to listen to black comedians without prejudice. I grew up with Pryor and Cosby, and Redd Foxx (and, at the time, liberal George Carlin - thanks to Mom), long before Eddie Murphy. To say this part of Appalachia was a long time in changing their mindset and racial tendencies is an understatement. I like to think that my little family of 3 was ahead of its time. Comedy knows color, embraces the obsurdity of color, and teaches us to laugh at our own lives, regardless of color.
    Rest easy, King Richard.

Hello Scott. Another well done video. Thank you. Here is something interesting: It has been well documented that Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe had a very difficult childhood. His mother was pretty wild and would take off for days - even up to a week at a time; leaving Nikki home alone with nobody to watch over him. There was a time when this was all going on that his mother would leave Nikki alone in Jerome Idaho and party with Richard Pryor in Hollywood for up to a week at a time. Nikki was around 6 years old at the time! It was because of Sixx's miserable childhood that he eventually ended up creating the Crüe and is principal song writer. Perhaps through the 7 degrees of Bacon that this tale is, Pryor could be a small contributing niblet that went into Mötley Crüe. It is all in Nikki Sixx's 1st #1 top selling book, The Heroin Diaries. BEST BOOK EVER! I very strongly recommend it to everyone!
Thanks and praise from Peterborough Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 ♥️

Thank you for this. It's great to see the graves of folks on the other side of the country from me, since who knows if/when I'll get there. Not sure if you want to dip your toe in the water for this suggestion, but the famous Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, GA had a beautifully carved lion that set in front of the Confederate dead. Due to current...issues...it was considered pro-Confederacy and racist, not as a memorial to the thousands buried there, and removed. Unsure where it is now. I know a lot of southern cities have had statues removed, but they usually say they'll be moved to a cemetery or museum "for context." But to remove a basic copy of the Lucerne Lion with no warning because...??? As a person who respects graves and the people in them, it makes me so sad that the dead can't be memorialized as their descendants wished.

Richard Pryor was a game changer for stand up comedy. He left you dying from laughter and wanting more. He was a talented actor. His movies with Gene Wilder were instant classics.
It's sad he wasted any time at all on cocaine. It was from the burdens he carried, I believe. As Robin Williams once said "people who clown and laugh the most, are the saddest and most lonely" that's not exact, but the point he was making. So who really knows the demons he may have carried.
All I know for sure is rather you watched his movies or saw his stand up, he made you laugh and forget your problems for awhile. Genius!
    RIP to Richard Pryor.

Richard was a comedic legend. He lived a WILD life and he used those moments in his performances for laughter…it was sad, but he made it funny. I’d rather have to work the rest of my life than be rich and miserable. He probably was drinking poured the alcohol over his head to drip over his body in a hallucinating state and when he went to free-base the fire from the lighter caused the fire to his body. That was a HUGE dog!!! 😱 Another, Great Job!

Thanks for sharing. Richard is from Peoria, IL about an hour away from me. I wondered where he was laid to rest.

Richard Pryor would be cancelled in a heartbeat if he performed his comedy routine today.
