Hi, I watched the video 2 times before replacing, and pause-played the whole repair, with the help of my daughter. Hats off to the thoroughness and attention to even the slightest detail. I had a problem unscrewing the screws from the heat shield, but I found a way. Press the screws from the opposite side with the guitar pick while turning. This way, the phillips head screwdriver gets properly seated in the screw, and there is help from the other side. One wouldn't come out, so I broke the shield free and somothed out the broken side.
The other thing was that the phone wouldn't close completely at the bottom right after the repair. Something my daughter said she can live with, but could dust get into it? Also, she finds it lagging when she's texting fast. There is also a bright spot in the center of the screen. Other than that, therepair went thru fine - we both learned a skill. It did take us about 5 1/2 hours though, of which 1 hour was taken up with the heat shield, and 1 hour with trying to figure out the proper placement of the home button, FF camera and LCD digitizer cables towards the end.
All in all, time well spent. Any words of advice on the above issues would be great, thanks so much!!

Excellent. I've replaced an iPhone 5 screen and working on an iPhone 6s was a bit more challenging for me. But I got through it and the phone appears to be working again (still powering up right now). 42 min seems long but it went by quick. Thank you!

Very thorough explanation of the procedure to replace the touch screen and glass. I was very pleased how carefully you filmed the details of the repair. I did my 6s in a few hours, having never worked with this iPhone; quite a bit different from the iPhones of earlier years that I am familiar with. Thank you very much. I did run into a problem with two screws that stripped when I tried to remove them. Luckily I was able to remove them with a Dremel tool, and luckier still that the two were located on the side holding the thermal barrier plate. Had they been on the motherboard or elsewhere I don't know what I would have done; probably give up. So I truly appreciate your warning not to over tighten these screws. A million thanks, again.

Truly STELLAR job on this video, Ed Waldrop!
HIGHLIGHTS: your attention to detail, great camera angles, detail-oriented pre- & post-checks, use of proper non-conductive & anti-static equipment, advice regarding the trickiness of the adhesive gasket, the fact that you advised disconnecting the battery before anything else, your making clear the importance of getting the correct screws back in their specific holes & the damage that getting that wrong can do, specifically pointing out the alignment pins, even noting the possibility of an ambient light filter to deal with in the event we are working with a black screen assembly instead of white, the absolutely imperative warning about the importance of maintaining the integrity of the home button, advice about GENTLY starting the screws & waiting until they are all in to fully seat them without OVER tightening, specific details about how to angle & fit the top of the screen back on before attempting to close the rest of it, & all those amazing details in every step! You sir, are a consummate professional & an incredibly fine teacher!
Only a few minor things tripped my "?" button: 1) that slightly boogered up piece of adhesive tape, haha! But there was enough left that it still made a great seal, so even there you showed that if that happened, it didn't have to be a disaster, so there was no need to obsess about it!,
    2) I was concerned when you pressed the upper right cables flat to 180 degrees. I have seen so many videos advise not to stretch those beyond 90 degrees when attaching & detaching the screen assembly from the chassis, that seeing them fully flattened made me worry. But apparently that only matters once the weight of the screen is actually attached to the chassis,
    3) I prefer to turn the screen on before snapping everything closed to make sure it is functioning properly so I don't have to pry it open again if I have a loose connection.
    4) I couldn't follow the post-test steps for checking the function of the proximity sensor & am still clueless about how to do that!
Thanks SO much! I feel like you have given me all the details I need to do a good job with this! :)

This is an incredibly WELL DONE professional quality instructional video. I watched 3 videos before this one. None of them told me to heat the phone to separate it. Nor did they direct me to disconnect the battery! I starting out following one of those 3, the one I felt was the most detailed. I ended up shattering my already cracked screen and getting glass everywhere. When it came to reassembling my phone I got lost and began looking for other videos. THANK GOODNESS I FOUND THIS ONE. I love that every step was explained in detail, right down to what the part was and why it was important to do things properly. The video itself is up close so you can see what is being worked on and exactly how it should look. If I had followed this video first, fixing my phone would have taken me maybe 30 minutes. Instead it became hours. And it won't turn on, which I believe is because I either broke something fighting with it following the first video, or because I hadn't disconnected the battery. I TRULY WISH I HAD WATCHED THIS ONE FIRST. I WILL BE SURE TO SEARCH iCracked out next time I need help!

My iPhone screen was smashed to bits, so I Ebay'd myself a replacement screen and watched your video to see how it was done. My mistake was using the diddy screwdrivers that came with the kit. After the 2nd half hour trying to find the OTHER screw that had pinged off into oblivion I went and found my magnetiser and magnetised the ends of the screwdrivers - that fixed that issue. It didn't help that I bought the phone 2nd hand and somebody else had replaced the screen (and lost two screws, and damaged the glue binding) without telling me (why would they?!).
Suffice to say that the phone is now working a treat, despite 4 screws being missing and the face not properly glued down. Couldn't have done it without you buddy!!! :)

When I realised they were the wrong size for the sockets, I went back, folded two cables up, placed the third cable at the back and then everything went into place ok.

This video was excellently presented. The only suggestion I could add to make this totally over the top is before a screw is tightened, to explain the #1 reason threads are cross threaded is the screw was simply dropped into its hole and immediately tightened. To avoid cross threading, make a new habit of turning screw slowly in the removal direction and feel or listen for a subtle click during the turning to indicate that thread is at the beginning location.
This habit works literally for every screw being replaced in the previously used location irregardless to the equipment.

Pay attention to the stack order of the three flat cables at minute 27:05. The cable with the guts for mic/amb sensor/proxy sensor/front camera assembly... that cable goes on top of the existing two. If you get this wrong, you will find that the plugging order doesn't work when ready to plug the screen back to the phone! Great presentation. I had it up while doing the swap and followed your order. Thanks.

An incredible tutorial. I couldn’t afford a professional repair or a new phone, #PandemicProblems, so I was so nervous about doing this repair myself. But this video was brilliantly precise, and easy to follow. I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone who thinks they can’t repair their phone. You can do it!

lost a bunch of screws in the process and not sure if i put everything in the right order, finally got the phone back together and the thing won't even turn on. I couldn't fix it but at least i learned something, and the satisfaction i got from throwing the thing on the floor and shattering it made it worth it.

Exceptionally comprehensive and well paced. The degree of detail is essential to do this properly... even explaining which of the tiny screws go in the correct place when you reassemble (you WILL destroy your phone if you get this wrong!).
As an additional word of advice. Pay the extra few £’s and buy a GENUINE Apple screen. It will fit and it will work properly. Get yourself the proper disassembly kit and the ‘Spudger’ which will really help in detaching the little connectors and also a razor blade to start the removal of the screen without damaging anything.
You will need to swap over your home button to ensure that you retain your Touch ID but this is all explained perfectly in this video.
Follow this to the letter and you CANNOT go wrong. Don’t waste your time with the 5 minute type instructions, you will regret it.
    Very impressive...thank you

The two pieces of tape on the top of the thermal plate didnt stick anymore after I thook them off. Should I buy new pieces of tape (if even possible) or is it fine if i leave it like this?

If you take your time and follow instructions, you will have a working phone in under an hour. I paused after I watched him do something, then did it myself. Patience is key.

The shield that has all those screw in it? I couldn't get the screws out of one side. I tried and tried but come out they wouldn't. So I put it back together with the old cracked screen! It just those three screws! everything else came apart fine

    Very nice video, thanks.
The only thing I noticed is that they didnt actually replace the LCD assembly. The first screen that had shattered glass actually had a tempered glass on it which was broken in the middle, so they just peeled it off and so it looked brand new.
