    sitting here with a new iPhone 6S screen that works is unbelievable! I appreciate the delivery of this content in a manner that is a little slower than some others. It allowed me to pause at specific places and replace various parts I may or may not need. Great job! Also, wonderful job at making me feel like I'm a tech guru!

    Thanks for the detailed video. Reconnecting some of the ribbon connectors was a bit tricky because of the sticky goo around the connectors. But a careful scraping and removal of the adhesive residue seemed to work. I now have a fully functioning iPhone again. Thanks so much!

    Unbelievable... I did it! Success! Your video and the step-by-step instructions on your website were extremely helpful. Also, from another page, I downloaded a screw chart page and printed to keep all the pieces organized. Thank you!!!!!!!

    I have repaired mobile phones before of various types but I have never done an Apple product before which I was always led to believe was not an easy job and should only be done by trained technicians, but you probably couldn't have explained it any better than you did in your video, at least you made it very clear and easy to understand
    Thank you for the great video 😁👍

    I just followed this video and successfully installed a new digitizer screen. I had ended up tearing a piece from the camera assembly, but I guess it was just a strip to hold something together and didn't have any wires through it because everything works correctly. Great video.

      Same with mine - no amount of force would get any of those 6 screws on the sides to budge. I just cut those six screws on the sides of the assembly off with wire cutters. Followed everything else and the phone works great.

    can i test the replacement screen without removing the the orange protective film? the store i bought it from voids th return/replacement warranty if i remove any film from the screen

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can test it with film... but the store's policy may not be enforceable in many jurisdictions around the world. If you used a credit card or PayPal to make a purchase they may be able to void the payment in-case the item isn't working and the merchant isn't accommodating you.

    Another video I watched did not have the battery disconnect step. I'm trying my second new screen install and neither of them have worked. I searched find another video to see if I did anything wrong, and found yours. This is the one possibility that I can see. Any thoughts on the battery disconnect?

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its better to disconnect the battery. Its not mandatory, but it helps to prevent any connector mishaps. A short can happen when plugging in the connector if its misaligned. The short can affect the back-light and other peripherals. If your phone's new screen is dark, you can try shining alight through it and if there is an image, but no back-light, then you know your back-light power supply is down. Unfortunately that would require low level component repair or a logic board replacement.

    Hey my iPhone 6s replacement screen only came with 2 ribbons not 3. I turned phone on just to see if it would still work and it did. What’s was the third ribbon for

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ribbons, as in connections at the top? 1 is LCD another is Touch - that's what most replacement parts come with. 3rd is camera - it is transferred during repair. 2:00

    • @allisonhollis1769
      @allisonhollis1769 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey man the 3rd ribbon is the camera go ahead and switch it over. And if by any reason you guys damage anything is if you aren't fragile with the ribbons I'm currently sol cause a ribbon was forced back in causing damage to the internal piece. Also the parts online are super cheap I broke my button ribbon in the process and had to replace.

    3D touch still work in any type of Iphone 6S display?

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It'll depend on the type of replacement display you get. Since the phone is rather old and not a lot of people are willing to pay Apple hardware prices, most replacement LCDs available for it today would at-best have 3D touch simulation - not actually working, but the OS will think that it is. You'd have to get a refurbished Apple genuine display to get it truly working.

    You dont need to unplug the battery, I replaced a new screen without unplugging the battery and it worked well.

    • @Laptopscreen
      @Laptopscreen  6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Malik, correct, unplugging the battery is not required to replace the display in the iPhone. However, it is an easy extra step to prevent the potential damage. Damage may occur when connectors are being aligned with their sockets and leads touch parts of the connector that they were not meant to touch - which may result in a blown back-light or a broken proximity sensor. While this only happens when the connectors are specifically misaligned - it is none-the-less a common occurrence with the first time installers, so doing the extra step is totally recommended.

      thats bad advice. always disconnect the power when working on electronics. with the Iphone 6S you can damage the backlight.
      also it was not mentioned you need to be extreamly carefull disconnecting the screen flex cables. don't use force and use a plastic pry .
