It's definitely not a perfect chair, but it still suits my needs better than anything else on the UK market. I have no problems using it for work or gaming.
I’ve just bought this chair for gaming. I currently have the embody which is pissing my lower back off and is not comfy on my bum after 30 mins. I hope this Aeron changes that
@@Captain-Chats How was it compared to the Embody now that you have it? I went with Aeron knowing how comfy it is but was sad I had to pass up on the Embody because I heard issues about lower back pain. Is the grass really greener on the Aeron side?
Not being able to cross your legs is a positive, given its bad for your circulation. I think overall the inflexibility of the chair is kinda the point, its to force you to maintain a good posture. At least this my hope as I'm considering getting one.
Very valid point. This is part of the reason I do still love the Aeron. I like that it keeps me in a great ergo position. The truth is... sometimes I want to kick back and relax in my chair, and the limited seating positions can be a problem. - RG
The Aeron Remastered and the Classic are both really amazing. Cannot beat the recline and the adjustability of just about every aspect of what’s important for tasking or relaxing. Getting a Remastered on sale is the key to feeling even better about the choice if you’re going that route.
Besides the cross leg seating (which is still somewhat possible for me on the C as a 6' person), I dont see any others being an issue really. I opted to go for the aeron instead of the embody because of longevity and dont regret my decision (after testing both). My biggest complaint I have is that the armrest dont lock in place hard enough. If I'm moving in/out of the chair or just moving the chair and I end up holding the arm rest, they will adjust (depth and width) involuntarily.
@AL-qj9yh C has much better shoulder support for me, and a bigger seat helps as well somewhat if u like sitting cross one leg in certain situations. I tried out a B and C and opted for the C purely for the extra shoulder support. The B felt tiny to me.
Thanks for sharing your experiences nglyo. It's definitely true that many of these "problems" won't be an issue for everyone. Glad you were able to find a chair you're happy with! - RG
I had 2 Areon chairs for years thinking it was the best chair. After years my lower back started hurting, didn't even consider it was my Aeron at Home, and at the office. Then the day came when we were moving our office to a different location and I saw the Herman Miller Embody Gaming chair thought it was cool so I bought 2 of them for clients that came into my new office for a visit, since our new office was not quite ready had the Embody chairs delivered to my house, well one thing lead to another and I used one of the Embody chairs at my office at my house, and within a day or two my back pain started going away, here we are 2 weeks later and the pain in my lower back is almost gone, and so are my 2 Aeron Chairs 1 went to Goodwill, and the other I sold cheap just to get rid of it. Never looking back
I'm looking for a durable commercial-grade office chair because I sit for many hours of the day. It must have: 1) extra thick seat pad cushion (not mesh) to sustain years of constant sitting and 2) adjustable arm rests that turn inward because I like my arm position next to my body. Can you recommend any chair?
One more con: I love the chair, but it's not easy to clean it. Dust tends to collect in various nooks and crannies under the seat and behind the backrest. It's a little thing but sometimes annoying.
I actually went out to try chairs today (aeron in B, C and embody) and ended up buying a size C aeron. I'm 6.2 myself (albeit below 70 kg) and it really had that 'fits like a glove' feel to me once dialed in. The B size was a big no-no and the embody to me was too firm for the lower back. If at all possible I suggest you go try it before spending though.
I have had an Aeron for years and it is absolutely wonderful. I am ruined for all other chairs. :) I have fibromyalgia and sitting for a long time is very painful for me, except in the Aeron. I can game for 14h straight, although I don't have that sort of endurance anymore. 1:55 You seem to have missed a few of the adjustments available.
I also suffer from fibromyalgia and I'm looking for a chair. Do you think it's worth to spend 2k on this chair? It's such a huge investment for me lol. But at the same time my body is full of pain, I really need a comfortable chair
I see only 3 reasons not to buy a aeron, if you don't like mesh (even though aerons mesh is something else and to me mesh seats are a acquired taste). You live in a very cold country and you don't have heating. If you NEED to seat cross legged.
I think you could also add a lack of seat depth adjustment. Even though Herman Miller offer 3 different sizes, sometimes ppl end up being in between two sizes.

Alright I am 35, 173cm/5'8 75kg-165lbs and I've got minor scolioses and genetic lower back problems and I work and play and I live at my computer.. I went to a store today to try out the Aeron and the Embody chair.. and I must say I do not get why the Emody Chair supposed to be so good. My main problem with the chair is the lumber support. it is very pointy and aggressive and takes away the rest of the chair that gives you that lounge feeling. If the lumber would be adjustable then that chair would change my whole mind. But the choice of automatic lumber adjustment is wrong for the design imo. The Aeron chair in the other way felt so perfect! Been using and owning aerons for 20 years ..love 'em love 'em love'em......the only downside for me is the price At the moment I'm shopping for stool conversion kits cos I'm switching to a standing desk setup and the price of a stool version is mad.
My dream Aeron would include a stool as well, specifically for a standing desk. The price really is the biggest downside. It is because of the price that our expectations are so high. - RG
I'm in Melbourne Australia and chair shopping at the moment. There's a second hand store with some aerons not too far from me. Going to try them tomorrow. Otherwise can't seem to find anything else that I can actually test sit in... Down side as well is a lot of places offer returns for store credit only and have a really narrow range. Oh well. Hope I like the Aeron. Cross legged thing might be an issue but i have short legs for my height. Might need to figure out how to get the Atlas here as well.
They have these at work and it's good for my one day at the office for about 2-3 hours. But I could not imagine using it at home as I need something more flexible and adjustable. If I found one for around $500 bucks refurbished, sure, otherwise the money can be better spend on other chairs for sure. Leap, Fern, Embody do way more for less.
You are not that small. I am 5.6 and I love my Aeron B. But I recommend you find a place to try the A and B. I do not recommend the Sayl, compared to the Aeron it feels cheap
This is good advise. The Sayl is definitely a step down in quality from the Aeron but it is well-suited for shorter people. Personally I would still choose the Aeron over the Sayl. - RG
I am 5’5 and the B felt too small. The arm rests did not come up high enough. And when I tried it with the atlas headrest, I just couldn’t get it hitting the right spot. I would love to try an A to see if I’d have the same problem, but it’s kind of expensive experiment.
It’s crazy I almost dished out $1,700 for one. I decided to order the Karman. It will be here next week. Looking forward to your guys’ review on the Karman!
I’ve bought a used classic aeron and I like it - granted I didn’t try any other high end chair so I can’t give an opinion on those. Kinda wish I could’ve found a used embody as that seems cool but I’m not disappointed.
I love stays with my legs crossed and with one leg underneath until I started having varicose veins. That was the reason I developed them. So, as comfortable as that is, avoid that ffor the sake of your veins.
I’ve owned a used Aeron Classic size B for about a year, I loved it for the most part but after a while I realized I needed the smaller size and sold it. So for me the biggest flaw is the lack of adjustments.
I've decided Robert is my go-to. His opinions seem to best match up with mine, even though I'm a bit shorter and fatter ;). Plus, seeing him lounge at his desk and scroll through F1 rankings, watch audiophile TH-camrs, all while talking about ergonomic office chairs and cable management... It's like he's my Midwestern doppelganger.
MIne is a year and a half old, and I sorely regret choosing to pay $2000 on my Aeron. As soon as I stop thinking about it, I find I have slid forward into a very unhealthy position.
Btw got the atlas headrest 4 days ago and all I can say is WOW. The fit and finish make it look like it is OEM. Bonus is it makes the chair look “balanced” if you know what I mean. Always thought my embody looked like it was missing something. Now it looks and feels end game.
@@StardustLegacyFighter But from an ergonomics perspective, if you need to rest your head you should actually get out of your chair and rest and not just stay in it, so headrests are not part of the science of ergonomics. Therefore, for the highest quality of this Atlas to be made, it does not matter why it is wrong. It's funny to be suggested. hahahaha
@jpSobhi Yeah, I think that's Herman Miller's stance on headrests, too. I personally don't use one with my Aeron, and I've never really felt the need to have one. However, a lot of ppl prefer to kick back and relax in their chairs, so for those individuals, it's perfectly fine to recommend Atlas headrests. Steelcase sell a solid built-in headrest with the Gesture, and they do follow the Science of ergonomics with research backed evidence.
i have Aeron with 20y of use and still rocking but i do not like it. I use a Embody and my wife uses the aeron. To be honest i find it to be too expensive to what it is. The embody on the other hand is just the best office chair i ever tried by some margin. The warranty on the chairs alone is worth a lot. I got multiple parts replaced with no cost at all over the years.
I’m 6.2ft tall and im really struggling with back and neck pain while working long hours. Has anyone suffered from the same thing and got better after buying this chair?
Just got the chair today, after about 4 hrs of use my back feels great. Although my hamstrings are on fire.. will see if there is a difference tomorrow. 6’5” Aeron C
@@SerTony16 I ended up buying mine 2 months ago, i went to an authorized dealer and at first i thought of buying the embody but it didnt feel right so when i tryed out the Aeron C it felt like it was built for me. I now feel less neck and back pain but i’ve discovered a few herniated disks and i also feel like this purchase is helping alot in my treatment as it forces me to be in the right position. About your hamstrings complaint i didnt feel anything of the sort, some daily stretching and excercises might help you with that.
6'2" as well and I have to say that I used to have shoulder and neck issues but they went away really quick when I got my Aeron and started sitting upright. Also make sure your monitors are high enough. Sitting upright staring straight ahead with a straight neck should make you look at the upper third of the screen.
I couldn't disagree with you more! If Life were Perfect then nothing would break but Life is not Perfect! However, I've had my Size A Herman Miller Aeron Chair for close to 30 years! The first one broke when my 6'4" cousin sat in mysmall size chair and leaned all the way back! Since it was within the 12 year warranty, Herman Miller immediately replaced my chair with a brain new chair and I've had it ever since! Knock on wood, not one problem and I use it everyday for long periods of time. I have a bad back and spend a lot of time in this chair doing computer graphics and I couldn't be more pleased ! I couldn't walk away so easily and freely if I spent that much time in any other chair. That's my experience!
I went to try it in a showroom and I really disliked it. My back literally never felt relaxed from the moment I sat on it. Neither size A or size B helped. Embody is much more ergonomic.
That could be due to bad posture on your part. If you're not used to sitting upright the lumbar support really hurts at the start. You'll get used to it within a week though and it's so much better for you. I work at the PC a lot and started to get shoulder issues, after buying my Aeron they went away just as quick as I got used to the posture.
i’m 5’7 and can cross my leg on a B size My job has a bunch if the Aeron chairs and tbh they’re not that bad I wouldn’t mind getting one refurbished, it’s comfy. the new editions with the terrible back support are the bad ones tbh the ones with the weird spine support, (the one shown in the video) I just stick with the low lumbar support OG one (the best one imo & it doesn’t poke my back, unless you got a bad one that is messed up) everyone here seems to support it even the older people and taller people compared to me a guy named Ron that’s 6’+ sits on this chair daily & seems to enjoy it even the heavier set people around here we use it to chill & lounge on downtime
The aeron kicks the shit out of the plastic noisy embody I have in my office and will be returning. Will be getting my aeron back and will never look at another chair.
I use an Aeron at work sometimes (shared office space), and love it for the most part, but like you (and basically everyone else) said, the hard sides of the seat are the only thing I don't care for. That and the fact that HM doesn't sell an OEM headrest version of this chair is absurd. What is it with HM and hating headrests? Lol.
I don't understand headrests... It feels uncomfortable to me and why aren't you able to keep your head upright all day?! Because I play guitar I bought one without armrests and now I hate armrests as well. Just not needed if you set up your workspace correctly.
I can't stand this chair 😭 I had to use them at jobs for years. I feel like I am deadlifting for 8 hours straight. I have very naturally good posture, and I feel like I have zero support.
There are a lot of other chairs that will last you longer and cost 1/4 price. Like Kinnarps, they make chairs for companies for like 2000€ and after they retire they are refurbished and sold on outlet for like 400€
How are you getting on now? Most people have such terrible postures that when they try an ergonomic chair they HATE it at first. But your body will thank you later.
There are a lot of words in the English language that are not pronounced the exact way that they are written. A few examples would be: "knot", "island" or "vision". This also applies to brand names and Haworth falls into this category. -Ryan

12 years is still a lot.
- RG
isn't the mesh got lose ?
@@밍하 It doesn't tend to sag like cheap mesh.
Air movement remark. was briliant :) great video
Do you get one?
@@vasiovasio No, I ended up getting a second head Steelcase Leap and it's been excellent.
@leapingtortoise super! ☺️☺️☺️
One more con is that it lacks basic adjustments like seat recline locking and seat depth slider.
I’m very short, 5.6 feet, which chair should I pick, Aeron or sayl?
I had the Karman and compared it to my Aeron Remastered, I returned the Karman immediately and now I appreciate my Aeron more
@@rubendhernandez4748 Any specific reasons you can note? I’m definitely curious.
Karman is crap and feels cheap, Embody or Gesture is the way to go.
@@venom5809 Does the cheapness feeling maybe come from how light it is? Does the materials feel low quality?
Our Karman is on the way! We will give our opinions in the coming weeks. - RG
I’d love to see HM to offer Atlas headrest with their chairs.
What an amazing video, thank you!
I've always preferred Sedus personally. No idea why more don't talk about those. Mine have lasted 20 years of heavy use so far.
which sedus do you have? I'm thinking about the se:pro light
@@WasteSecondmine is an older model (obvs haha) MR-102
@@BuzzaB77 thanks! :D
Love the Mirra, no idea why it didn't get bigger than the Aeron
Mesh backrest is just nicer in my opinion.
So for me the biggest flaw is the lack of adjustments.
isn't size B medium? Is size B not good for guys 5'8??
@@Bambledamble yeah but I’m 5’4 short 😅
kg?
I've decided Robert is my go-to. His opinions seem to best match up with mine, even though I'm a bit shorter and fatter ;). Plus, seeing him lounge at his desk and scroll through F1 rankings, watch audiophile TH-camrs, all while talking about ergonomic office chairs and cable management... It's like he's my Midwestern doppelganger.
Aeron chair is the only chair I can game for 14 hours without back pain. 😅😅😅
I got mine used from a company that sells chairs from movie props.
Atlas always smash it with their headrests.
Far better than anything from Engineered Now.
Good call Stardust - Atlas is top tier and Engineered Now is a step down in comfort. - RG
For me the Embody felt like a torture device.
If you'd like less firm mesh - chose size C instead of B.
Another con after getting chair: I can smell my farts now
🤣
That's good
I couldn't disagree with you more!
Congratulations, you took the obvious bait.
@@VndNvwYvvSvvjust read the original post and I’m so embarrassed 🤗
I have a bad hip and the Aeron is way better than 95% of other chairs.
Fart part was unexpected 😮
i’m 5’7 and can cross my leg on a B size
My job has a bunch if the Aeron chairs and tbh
they’re not that bad
I wouldn’t mind getting one refurbished, it’s comfy.
the new editions with the terrible back support are the bad ones tbh
the ones with the weird spine support, (the one shown in the video)
I just stick with the low lumbar support OG one (the best one imo & it doesn’t poke my back, unless you got a bad one that is messed up)
everyone here seems to support it
even the older people and taller people compared to me
a guy named Ron that’s 6’+ sits on this chair daily & seems to enjoy it
even the heavier set people around here
we use it to chill & lounge on downtime
Great review! Thanks, now I know it's not for me
Amazing video!
The aeron kicks the shit out of the plastic noisy embody I have in my office and will be returning. Will be getting my aeron back and will never look at another chair.
how to stop the googling of the pole moving left right ?
??? Wat pole???
Reason #11: Off gassing chemicals.
???
I use an Aeron at work sometimes (shared office space), and love it for the most part, but like you (and basically everyone else) said, the hard sides of the seat are the only thing I don't care for. That and the fact that HM doesn't sell an OEM headrest version of this chair is absurd. What is it with HM and hating headrests? Lol.
Herman Miller's design philosophy is against headrests, as they believe you don't require one when tasking.
I don't understand headrests... It feels uncomfortable to me and why aren't you able to keep your head upright all day?! Because I play guitar I bought one without armrests and now I hate armrests as well. Just not needed if you set up your workspace correctly.
geezes... thanks for the video - this completely put me off this overpriced piece of plastic.
why so expensive ,
Partly build quality, the materials are fantastic. The other part is legacy and branding.
Ikea Markus blows the HM outta the water
That's not true at all. That thing has way too much play, the build quality is not great and it takes effort to sit upright in it.
I do love the air flow for farting. No joke. And I'm very warm bodied, so love it.
1:08 that is Randy!!! (cheapaudioman)
Where was the trigger warning? 😂
I can't stand this chair 😭 I had to use them at jobs for years. I feel like I am deadlifting for 8 hours straight. I have very naturally good posture, and I feel like I have zero support.
Are you guys paid by the leap v2? Bogus.
Preferences. I don't like the aeron that much but still.
Reason 1: It last longer than you will ever live
There are a lot of other chairs that will last you longer and cost 1/4 price.
Like Kinnarps, they make chairs for companies for like 2000€ and after they retire they are refurbished and sold on outlet for like 400€
I hate this garbage chair it gave pain in my lower back

Sorry but it's not Hayworth, it's Haworth. Where's the Y?
There are a lot of words in the English language that are not pronounced the exact way that they are written. A few examples would be: "knot", "island" or "vision". This also applies to brand names and Haworth falls into this category. -Ryan
You look like Ethan Klein if he wasn't ugly
Anyway thanks for the informative video
So he doesn't look like Ethan Klein. Ok.
It’s a terrible chair, turned down offers from friends for free ones many times. The Embody and Mirra are so much better if you want Steelcase.
