Insane guide. Everything was covered down to the last detail. Beautifully done. Only thing I'd say is on the main cannon part once you're in the neutral / winning position is to target their wheel and break it so that their helm can't keep angle. But you pretty much covered this when you said: **Once you break their mast shoot the helm raising the sail** Absolutely wonderfully made.
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves I already knew everything that was in the video. But it was a nice change of pace compared to some tutorial videos because you did step by step WHAT and WHY you do each thing you do depending on the situation. You broke down exactly what you should be doing, and what you should be doing if you CAN'T do what you should be doing. Way better than some people who just give you 1 or 2 strategies that get countered and now you don't know what to do. Excellent tutorial for players who need to know what they should be doing based on what the situation calls for. I do this when I VOD review for some of the teams in LBH, and I find it to be a terrific way to explain things so that the players actually UNDERSTAND why they're doing something, rather than them just being told to do something but not understanding why they should be doing it.
One other reason why you should turn right at the start of a hourglass fight: on a sloop, the mast falls on the right side, which could block your aim while cannoning on the right side.
For those who are new, this is a very good video to practice and with Safer Seas just days out these tactics will work really well against ghost ships as test dummies.
Grateful for this video. As a cannoneer I appreciate the emphasis on priority number 1 being angle its so true. Nothing more frustrating than grabbing cannons, turning around and your helm just raced you to the cannon and left you with picking up all their tasks.

In the loadout part, talk about the chaos and fire cannonballs. It's often great to have them in hand, using a quick shortcut to kick someone out of the ship. Helm shall have only chaos, and Cannoneer can have a mix of both. Fire, even harmless, can make an opponent panic.
In most cases if you are fighting a sloop I recommend not using firebombs. Because of how small the sloop is someone that is bilgeing will easily put out all the fire with little hassle. A cannonball is more effective because it helps actively sink the ship and make the bilge have to repair. In my opinion shooting fireballs from cannons is only useful against galleons. 👍🏼

Me and my duo have found a very powerful use for the harpoon. If the helm player can harpoon the side or the back of the enemy ship, he can use the harpoon to always keep a cannon angle on the side or the back of the the enemy ship, while preventing the enemy from ever getting their own angle. The biggest risk is the enemies sniping the harpoon player, but the cannoneer should be able to hit them if they are trying to snipe. If you get in a winning position, you can even use the harpoon to pull both ships together for an easy board, possibly even with both players (if your ship is fine of course). What makes it even stronger is that it works with any position of the wheel or sail length. Although it's much more forgiving if the wheel is mostly straight, and the sail is at half length. In that case, the harpooner can let go for short periods to heal or snipe back. The harpooner does need to make sure the line doesn't snap from the enemy ship turning the other way, but if you're not moving at full speed, it's quite easy to get another harpoon. This tactic is even better against bigger ships, as it doesn't allow them to use their higher speed to get away. It's also harder to get all of their masts down, but this technique lets you get in a death spin while they are still moving. It is difficult to defend against boarders in this scenario, because neither player is near the ladders. But it should be very difficult for the enemy to board you in the first place, because the ship will be moving at some speed, and at an angle. On top of that, the harpoon still somewhat works even if your ship is anchored, although it's much easier for the enemy to break loose then.

Got to ask is the 69 streak fr bc I think that’s a record!!
This is the best and only needed guide for sea of thieves. I wished I stumbled on this long ago! What a masterpiece. You did the SOT community a great favor! Thanks man ❤
very solid tutorial! my main helm crewmate sent me this to give me some tips for cannons and after putting it into practice we've won way more fights than before! thank you for this
I really like this video. I used the one of turning your boat to the right immediately when coming out of the water and putting pressure on the enemy with the cannons (solo sloop) and so far, did at least 2 2-0 matches and a 3-0 win streak. Thank you!
Awesome! Since it seems you're playing solo sloop you should also check out my solo slooping guide on my channel. It should be able to give you even more help :)
Bonus Tip here: its also good to turn to the right, because the mast of the sloop falls to the right if it does, so u still have better movement when turning right
100% I was thinking about including that when structuring the video but accidentally forgot to put it in the video haha. I included it in my solo sloop video after realizing though 🤣
The problem is: if both sloops use these tips the fight can go a very long time. My mate and I once were in a over two hour long fight with one of us constanly shooting, repairing and the other one shooting himself to a nerby port to get resorces.
I'm the helm/bilge of my crew, my crewmate is much better than me at cannons. we met a little over a month ago and we were able to get my skelly curse, so I went from 20 to 108 in a little over a month. we're becoming more and more solid after each fights. we're also already really close friends. also, everywhere I lack in he doesn't, and everywhere he lacks in I don't. we form a really good crew.
in my opinion your cannoneer should apply pressure and then try to board at the right time then u take over the boat completely cause people who solo sloop know it’s possible to do everything on that ship by yourself and it would help keep the other ship from repairing and such while you can keep applying pressure on the ship
It's best to board only when the enemy is fleeing or when they are immobilized and hurting very bad. Because if you try to board at any other times you'll basically always end up getting ladder camped and killed and then will be a player down.
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves totally right, I’ve been struggling with my teammate to get into a winning position so we resulted to rampant boarding. I get killed on the ladder almost half the time.
Don't forget, we canoneers are basically the boarders. Gotta keep the other dudes dead so all you have to do is keep the death spiral and use the cannons
Golden sailor canons, so basically back in the good ol’ days, Rare accidentally released those where you can buy the canons for the shipwrights shop at any outpost for sale but less then a week Rare deleted them from the shipwrights shop but fortunately you can get them rn in the 5th year anniversary Rewards event in Sea of thieves rn only for 8 days left until their gone! So be quick if you want them! More into the rewards information at the sea of thieves website events tab.
I will say the helm section was great, and I’ll be sending it to my somewhat new helm to help him. I knew most of the cannoneer stuff, as that’s what I usually do, and I can say I agree with it. Mostly. My only disagreement is what you said priorities are. In a direct broad to broad situation, first priority is to hit cannon line, once you’ve killed them or forced them to eat, then you can send chains. If you send chains when you don’t have advantage, you open yourself up to their cannon. But, since you said this version of events when talking about starting a fight, I think you know what you’re talking about, and it was more of a situational thing.
Yep, as stated in the video getting a kill on the enemy with a oneball is priority, and then from there getting the wheel destroyed and mast down is important :)
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves yeah! I mean I'm 400 hours in now so I knew most of the stuff, but the video is a great recap of everything and it's perfect to forward to your less experienced friends
Turning left is also good cause mast always break on right side first, so as a wheel you can repair it while hiding from cannon shots, and if the mast falls it will fall on right so it won't be annoying for your teammate to keep pressure !
@@snakeoflordran9573 He is talking about the repair locations. First shot puts a crack on the right, second on the left and 3rd will drop it but adds a break to the middle.
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves Too much info at once, but i got the very basics of helming which i needed. I will slowly start adapting to them. I dont usually do PvP but when i do im a sitting duck usualy.
I got this game a week ago. A tactic me and my friend have thought up is the following: We put 3+ explosive barrels on the very tip of our sloop and ram into the enemy, then snipe the barrel to make it blow up as it's hovering over the enemy ship. Yes... it does set our own boat on fire but doesnt make much holes since the explosion is away from most of the hull xD
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves position of ship always fighting from the left side, how to position ship to minimize damage when in a losing position, and weapon load out. I'm the cannon role so being able to snipe from a distance when I don't have cannon shots will be a game changer!

@@BONEYARDX0 Awesome. As well I noticed you mentioned you were playing solo. I do have a guide specifically for solo sloop if you'd like to check it out as well 🙌🏼
I just started playing and this is priceless information, thank you! Solo sloop is almost impossible as a new player, just praying not to see sails or reaper flags on the map.
I feel like the whole dont touch canon thing as helm is such a good tip because im always seeing solo sloopers running to their canon but you loose advantage when it comes to angle and you hog the canon on sloop. On galeon or brig its not as bad cause theres always a canon for gunner to go to but on sloop it feels like you throwijg when helm goes to canon
As a solo, i would recommend swapping the sniper for a sword. You will be called names, nooby and such, but the reality is, especially whenever you are outnumbered, a sword can greatly increase your chances of killing multiple boarders or fully killing their entire crew when you board. Instead of taking snipes across water which is a low likelyhood of connecting, utilize your cannon to kill or knock off the enemy cannoneer. Even when you are in the worst position (broke wheel, down mast, spinning chaotically) there is a single shot you can take when your broad briefly has angle. Bucket when you dont have angle. With good aim and practice you can one ball the enemy and give yourself a breath to lift your mast while they recover, plank once and get sailing out of the death spiral. At this point you may be flooding with water you and have to pull an emergency repair technique- it may feel like the water barely goes down with each bucket but you have to hit 5-7+ buckets until the water level retreats to your feet, then immediately plank the first lower hole on the bottom of the steps. By the time it has planked you will have to immediately bucket because you will be full with water again. Bucket multiple times again, perhaps 7+ times, until you can plank the next lower hole. After these 2 planks you should be able to finish the rest of the lowers repairs, then fix your wheel to make sure you arent sailing back into the fight- clean up the mast and back holes and youre reset. Happy sailing!
Im not a fan of pvp, but this video is also useful for if someone initiates an attack on you: whether you be in a sloop or a bigger boat, the jobs are more or less the same: with more players, one or two people are cannoneer, one is helm, and one is repair (this I found to be useful). if someone is attacking you, stand your ground and fight, and use these tips because it could help you win

Incredible video please do more of these for the other ship types! Has helped a lot with slooping
I'll more than likely make similar videos for the other boats! Make sure to be subscribed for those! :)
Thanks. Been playing on/off since release. This video will for sure help my sloop bro and i work as one, which is key to winning. Currently on my 9th winning streak (not counting the 1 teleport/aimbot crew)
Thank you for the tips. 😊 I will definitely use these to help me win in Duo slooping
Happy to help!
Actual great guide my dude, other SoT youtubers be making 10 minute videos going "did U No U can shoot Enemy with gun?"
Lol, thanks! Hopefully you learned some new things?
Nice job, man! A very complex tutorial about pvp and roles in a very compact and simple enough to understand video
The try to fix the holes on the opposite side is an amazing piece of advice! Thanks 👍🏼
Of course! 👍🏼
First creator that I’ve seen respond to every content, crazy to see this before u blow up because this is a super useful guide. I’ve been PvP for a while so some of this stuff comes naturally but it’s still cool to see someone who puts in the effort to name and organize every move and counter move. Got to ask is the 69 streak fr bc I think that’s a record!!
Yep I figured it would be a cool idea to organize everything like this! And I believe the record is more like a 101 streak or something actually.
the most in depth pvp video ive ever seen gawd dayum
👍🏼👍🏼 You learn some new things?
This is the best and only needed guide for sea of thieves. I wished I stumbled on this long ago! What a masterpiece. You did the SOT community a great favor! Thanks man ❤
I appreciate it! You're welcome :) was the video able to teach you lots of new things?
it did! It helped solidifying the priority list in my head and also taught me new stuff such as weak right side, thank you!
@@MadnessIRL Awesome! :)
An actually in-depth video. All scenarios are covered. Love it!
❤️
very solid tutorial! my main helm crewmate sent me this to give me some tips for cannons and after putting it into practice we've won way more fights than before! thank you for this
Awesome!! That's great to hear that this video is doing its job by getting you more wins! :)
hi crewmate
@Farendiil Haha so you two are getting a bunch of wins together now huh? 😉
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves yes
@@farendiil 👍🏼👍🏼
I included it in my solo sloop video after realizing though 🤣
literally the best sot pvp guide on whole youtube, amazing content man
Thanks! What helped you most?
The random "I am under the water" killed me
Haha
This video is insanely useful, you did a great job of making a science out of the battlefield. I will have my full crew watch this video.
Thanks 🙌🏼
Step 1: Play for 8 hours every day
Lol
So true😂😂
Me.. live on twitch & kick
This is probably the best pvp video I could find. Great job!
what do you do to start a fight? Just log in and leave port...someone will find you and chase you across the entire ocean to prove how tough they are
Now I have the experience to know this stuff, but this is hands down the most accurate video I have ever seen. Sending to my less experienced friends…
Awesome!
The problem is: if both sloops use these tips the fight can go a very long time. My mate and I once were in a over two hour long fight with one of us constanly shooting, repairing and the other one shooting himself to a nerby port to get resorces.
The BEST tutorial video about PvP in this game, thanks!
You're welcome! If you have teammates you play with that could also benefit from these tips make sure you share this video with them! 😀
It's always great to have a good crewmate! You should send them this video so you guys can work together even better! :)
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves yes I will, learned at least 2 things I should do as helm
@@farendiil Awesome! What things were new to you?
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves why we go right and that mast is more important than bail for me

🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
The sloop positioning tip involving port vs. starboard was actually huge tho
😉👍🏼
Thanks for taking the time to do this. We appreciate all you do!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching 😉👍🏼
in my opinion your cannoneer should apply pressure and then try to board at the right time then u take over the boat completely cause people who solo sloop know it’s possible to do everything on that ship by yourself and it would help keep the other ship from repairing and such while you can keep applying pressure on the ship
@Liam O'Bryan They also finally just fixed the silent board bug apparently. So now you're even more likely to end up getting ladder camped 🤷🏼♂️
This is a very comprehensive video! Me and my helm are gonna be trying this out, will let you know how it goes.
Sounds good 😉👍🏼
Are you doing a tutorial for the brig and galleon too? I honestly found this video very helpful.
Videos like that are definitely future video ideas! Make sure you're subscribed so you can see videos such as that! :)

Bruh this guy responds to every comment. Crazy dedication
😉👍🏼
0:10 i've seen those cannons a LOT, what set are they from?
I believe they are the ruffian seadog cannons :)
Step one: find a duo 😢
@klaw808 ill be your duo :)

Turning left is also good cause mast always break on right side first, so as a wheel you can repair it while hiding from cannon shots, and if the mast falls it will fall on right so it won't be annoying for your teammate to keep pressure !
Yep, for anyone reading this comment it breaks on the right then the left then the middle. I should've included this in the video!
im pretty sure the mast falls the same direction no matter what, dude.
@@snakeoflordran9573 He is talking about the repair locations. First shot puts a crack on the right, second on the left and 3rd will drop it but adds a break to the middle.

My man... do I look like I have friends to Duo Sloop with???🥺
Haha, at least some of this knowledge can be applied to solo sloop!
I got this game a week ago. A tactic me and my friend have thought up is the following:
We put 3+ explosive barrels on the very tip of our sloop and ram into the enemy, then snipe the barrel to make it blow up as it's hovering over the enemy ship.
Yes... it does set our own boat on fire but doesnt make much holes since the explosion is away from most of the hull xD
I love doing that on the occasion haha
This is almost a perfect duo sloop guide. Great job! I'll be sure to send this to newer players who I'm trying to help learn this funny pirate game👍

wow... a lot of work went into this video. Very good job.

Now this is a true video guide to survive in this lovely game!
It definitely helps things flow better! :)
Great guide. 4 years solo good to hear other strategies
Thanks! Do you plan on applying some of these strategies to your game play?
cool the good player does everything and the kevin shoots and fights since he wanted to play csgo anyways xD great help this video.
This was actually a really well done and helpful video!
Glad you think so!
You scienced the hell out of SoT pvp and I appreciate that
