You know there's a short cut to skip almost the whole stage right? When the stage starts jump off the ledge (run jump diddy is best) then as your falling to your death move to the left of the screen and ull go into a barrel that shoots you close to the end of the stage
I loved playing DKC. Have any of us goofed off with Diddy Kong on the Gas platform stages where you need to keep refilling the moving platform with fuel barrels? The thing i used to do is go to a stationary platform that will not fall and stand very close to the edge. When done correctly after the fuel gauge hits empty, Diddy does his rage/failure animation, throwing his hat off the cliff and jumping off the cliff after it to stomp on his hat . XD
Pretty cool picks! I’m so glad you mentioned U.N. Squadron, which I not only have a great time with whenever I play it, but which also introduced me to one of my favorite animes ever - Area 88. The Japanese title of this game is Area 88, and it is named for the manga/anime it is based on. If you have never seen it, I highly recommend it, at least the original series from the early 80s.
Finished it on SNES & Arcade. The man that owned the machine watched my do it on 3 quarters 😅 I was 12 he said it was incredible UN SQUADRON for Life Arcade version was a bit better 🥇
I personally need to thank you. I'm from a younger generation (currently 25) and though my first system was a ps2, my favorite system ever as a child was the gba sp. I had burger time, pokemon special pikachu (that one lead to a grudge to this day against my brother for saving over my game), pokemon saphire, Mario kart, amongst many others. Unfortunately that system broke long ago and many games went to salvation army. Fast forward to a few years ago and I get the urge to play those games I enjoyed as a child and looked at your start collecting guide to see what else was out there. That was my introduction to your channel and I've been a fan ever since. Older systems always intrigued me, to see were many systems started, many great systems that lost the race, and the early stages of the icons of today. You've given me many many great titles to look into for starting a new collection or adding to an old one. You've opened many doors to systems I missed as a child. One of my favorite systems I "missed out on" has been the snes. I love chrono trigger, kirby, and Mario kart. It's always a blast to break out mk3 or super bomber man at parties. Plus many more titles I undoubtedly would have missed had you not introduced them to me. So thank you for your advice on things to look out for, mistakes I could make, hidden gems I should hunt, and rarities I should keep on eye or for.
I first started playing the snes when I was 4 and half years old. My mom would take me over to my grandmas thru the week while she had to work. My Uncle had the snes I can remember the day he came in with it brand new. I would show up early in the mourning's and I would play Donkey Kong, Super Mario world 1 and Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island. This was back in 1994 or 1995.. Lol I can remember He would get upset because I could beat the games being that young and he had such a hard time with them. I finally got my own snes around 98 I got the smaller version and ever since have been collecting when I can. I have around 75 of the very best games from all 3 Donkey Kongs, Contra 3, Super Castlvaina, Super metroid, All the Super Mario's and All stars, Turtles in time,Total Carnage, Zombies ate my Neighbors, Actriser 1 and 2. Booger man. Etc.. Man recently I beat Super Mario World 2 because it had been years took me about 6 hours I had a blast with the memories. Ironically, I got a call the next mourning from my Mom that my Uncle had died the previous night of a massive heart attack at the age of 59. I've been devastated over the past week. Tonight I played and beaten Super Mario World in his memory. Can't believe he's gone ill hold on to those memories and I'm thankful that he brought the Snes into my life. The Snes will never die it's in the top 3 consoles for me of all time. Thanks for such a cool video it brings it all back... I'll be a retro gamer until Game Over.. Rip Uncle Dennis 😞
Well of course it IS your prefetence, you imbecile. That's like saying "I grew up in the 60s and I think music back then sounded better!". Not that it applies to the SNES hardware design because everyone knows the NA version looks objectively better. That is the reason it was redesigned in the 1st place, the famicom looks like a baby toy
I loved playing The best of the best, Aerobiz, Pilot Wings, Bassin's Black Bass, Final Fantasy III, LOTR, DK Country, Out of this World, Super Play Action Football. Riddick Bowe Boxing and so many others. The SNES was the console that I played the most. Great memories. Good times.
Rock and Roll Racing was an absolute gem on the SNES. Trying to remember some of the songs that featured but my memory is failing. Still to this day though I'll hear songs on the radio and know my first time hearing them was in that game. As a kid o didn't know they existed outside of the game!
My SNES collection was so good, and I traded it all away to Funcoland to get an n64, still regret it till this day. Funny thing is I still have my original SNES console and I can’t remember what happened to my N64, think I had to pawn it
I have 2 sailor moon games that were never released over here that are fan translations on snes carts. One is a beat em up the other is a RPG. It's amazing how many voice samples are in super Famicom games compared to snes games. I also have an 8 games in 1 super Mario world hack collection, super Mario 2d land and super Mario Bros 3x all for the snes
I'm glad I'm not the only one here to play and mention the Sailor Moon SNES/SFC games. They're so much fun. I have YT vids on me playing them alone and with a friend (depending): th-cam.com/play/PLRKUAKFXx5XX7UsZdQQp9tgZBlSfkvKZV.html and th-cam.com/play/PLRKUAKFXx5XUeeCwFeQHoccRkRcGtU9nq.html (not complete yet as my friend Tommy and I had life creep up on us). Sailor Moon R in the SM Saturdays playlist is fan translated as well. I included (in emulation of course as everything else in that collection) the somewhat rare Sailor Moon arcade game. Enjoy!
Love this video. And always good to hear peoples fav games they go back too. And so happy Shadowrun was in there, so many people miss this game out and its amazing! (Addams Family for me is a game I tend to go back to a lot and Sim City!)
My son and I have epic battles with Tetris Attack. It’s so cool to share the games that I loved growing up with him, and he loves them too. Also R.R.Racing of course, and so many more great snes games, and actually all of the classic consoles. Great video M.J.!
gagletgomez can't believe you were the first/maybe only person who mentioned Mario Cart. In my part of the world (New England) that game is FUCKING legendary for the fun. There's ALWAYS be a shit ton of people of playing at parties. That and Tekken 3. I know different console but those were the two games that EVERYONE loved in my bubble.
Brenden Crosby tbh, im surprised too! To me, it is the SNES! (Along with mario world, and SF 2). SNES wasn’t overly popular in the UK, it was mainly Mega Drive and Master System :/
Even if you didn't grow up with a SNES I don't understand how someone couldn't like it. Its library is full of some of the best games of all time from some of the best series' of all time. Ian from the CUPodcast is one of the most outspoken TH-camrs who just doesn't like the SNES. I mean, that's his prerogative, but I feel like he's trying a bit too hard to be contrary to popular opinion. He just strikes me as the type of guy who will go out of his way to not like something that the vast majority of people like, or the other way around.
MrMetalJesus, its amazing how you keep bringing quality content, knowing you are going through hard times and busy with the move. Sometimes when im going through life crisis I pick up a game controller and play some retro games and I forget all my problems. Im an 80s kid and 10 of my favorite SNES games are: 1. The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past 2. Uniracers 3. Zombies Ate My Neighbors 4. The Adventure of Batman and Robin 5. Earthworm Jim 1&2 6. Joe & Mac 7. Kid Klown in Crazy Chase 8. The Lion King 9. Yoshis Island 10. Super Smash TV
I still play Demons Crest, one of the best snes games. Possibly a hidden gem since a lot of people never played it but if they had they would know how great it is. So much replay value too trying to get everything in the game. And it has like 4 different endings depending how many things you have collected.
As a kid the SNES games I played all the time - Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country & Street Fighter II Turbo. Now I play them all the time on my handheld emulator where ever I go.
Had to pause it at 14.43 when i noticed Thunder Force 3. I had no idea a SNES version was made. Good job i looked it up before saying you placed a Megadrive/Genesis game on in the ending medley :-D Great upload as usual and again ive learned something.
Great vid as always MJR. I still enjoy playing on my SNES too, I love playing; Zombies, Joe & Mac Caveman Ninja, Super Casltevania IV & TMNT: Turtles in Time
A Link to the Past is one of the few games I consider perfect and revisit every now and then. Others I revisit regularly are Final Fantasy IV, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and NBA Jam: TE.
I still play Desert Strike Return to the Gulf. Amazing isometric shooter/~open world game~. Good controls and an interesting story. Made by EA before their fall
made by shinji mikami, one of the most underappreciated geniuses in video game history, revolutionized 3rd person action/shooters with RE4 which inspired ripoffs like the last of us, gears of war, god of war 4, uncharted, etc.
FYI: There was a version of Super Mario All-stars that also included SMW. Originally it was a not-for-resale version that was given as a promotion with a SNES system bundle. But demand quickly outstripped supply, and Nintendo began to issue "vouchers" that you would mail them in and they would ship you retail copies of both carts.
Have been introduced to many NES and SNES games that I would not have bought without being shown how awesome they are. Thanks so much!!! Love your channel!
I don’t have a snes anymore. It was fun to watch you play these games. Sometimes I fire up an emulator and play the games you talk about. As I get older the Nostalgia for these games is wearing off for me. I’m only 38, but I really like 2600 and PS3 era games much more. Thanks!
When I was a senior in high school my friends and I would hang out at another friend's older brother's apartment and he had DKC. Unfortunately every time I would make it over my friends would be playing it, but when I got there they were ready to do something else, so I literally never got a chance to play the game back in the day. I didn't play it until years later, and I've never played past the first couple of levels. It's a shame because it looks like such a great game. One of these days I'll play it and do a review on it as someone with a relatively fresh perspective on the game.
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja is an amazing game. I remember playing it so much with a friend of mine. The hidden mini-games and the town exploration is basically proto-GTA. It's an incredible game with an incredible co-op experience, too. That game is incredibly underrated!
I've been a gamer since before the NES & have tons of nostalgia for the 8 & 16 bit era but oddly enough my favorite console of all time is the XBOX 360. A perfect storm of great graphics, gameplay, engrossing stories, ease of use, all physical, micro-transaction free & the final gen where games were made for fun & not to push an agenda.
I can't disagree. It's my favorite console, as well. It's my favorite era of gameplay, graphics and game genres...Side scrollers, RPG's, sports games (Super Tecmo Bowl and NHL 94 are still 2 of my all time favorite sports titles).
Thanks. Still getting used to this damn CPAP machine and my doctors want me to lose some weight. I'll check back in with them in a month, so #FingersCrossed
The year was 1997 when I was finally old enough to play video games at age 3 and I have nothing but fond memories of the SNES, DKC and Super Mario All Stars. But what really blows me away even two decades later is the fact that my older brother's game boy games from when he was growing up could be played in color on the Super Game Boy. Such a novel concept for the time.
"The Legend of the mystical ninja". One of the best coop experiences I've ever had. It's possible to carry the second player on the back. First player leads through the level, second player attacks!
Holy crap. You brought back so many memories. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja is an incredible game. I played it so much with a friend of mine, i knew the labyrinth by heart. It's absolutely fantastic and so far ahead of its time. With the town exploration, the mini-games, and the shops, it was like GTA for the SNES.
You need to take down this video the amount of nostalgia from these games nearly gave me a heart attack! (In all seriousness I love classic games especially old platformers like Mario and Banjo Kazooie)
Goemon needs all the love he can get! Always played Mystical Ninja with a cousin but we were terrible at the boss fights. Great to see it still in your regular rotation!
Shadowrun on the SNES is a great RPG, but I prefer the Genesis version. The Genesis version just fit the cyberpunk setting way better with the graphics and sound. The Genesis soundchip is fantastic for any sci fi game.
@@MetalJesusRocks They are completely different, and I think a lot of people agree that the Genesis version is the superior version. But that doesn't take anything away from the SNES game. It's still a great RPG and Shadowrun game. You might actually prefer the SNES game because it's more like a PC RPG.
Some of the games I always come back to are; Final Fight 2, F-zero, Super Double Dragon, TMNT turtles in time, Aero Fighters, Super Smash Tv, Space Megaforce, Tecmo Superbowl and Iron Commando. Notice most of the games on my list are 2 player co-op. I enjoy playing with another person when I can. It makes it that much more fun. Great video!!

Greetings Mr. J. Wild Guns, Pocky & Rocky and Castlevania 4 are the games I still play frequently on my SNES.
Wild Guns is a beautiful game but hard as nails. Sold my copy to a game store a couple years ago for $180.00! Apparently it’s pretty rare. 🗿
@@xyrzmxyzptlk1186 , yes the game is very hard but it does get easier the more you play it. I am playing it more now that I am older, probably because I have more patience now than when I was younger.
The SNES is my favourite console and I clicked on this so fast when I saw it! Also, that minecart level in DKC always kills me so many times!
Yes! When he said it's his favorite level, I was like Noooooooo. So frustrating lol
XD
I can’t believe you didn’t mention how amazing the soundtrack is for DK Country. One of the very best ever.
Super Mario RPG Legend Of The Seven Stars is a game I revisit every year or so. Love it every time, Still never gets old
yeah, that game is definitely a timeless classic and fun to play.
I love it but I have not pass it yet
The games I keep coming back are Mega Man X, Super Mario World, A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger.
My dad used to take over my SNES plying Pilot Wings every day when I got home from school so I'd do my homework.
The rocket belt, airplane and skydiving levels were my favourites. 🍏🍎
My mom used to do the same thing. She beat all my games 😂
did ya ever play it with him?
@@derek-64
Yea but I couldn't get as far as he could. He beat those night trials and I thought that was godlike.
The man that owned the machine watched my do it on 3 quarters 😅 I was 12 he said it was incredible UN SQUADRON for Life
Arcade version was a bit better 🥇
I always go back and play the rpgs on the console like Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia, and especially Earthbound.
Sure, well, good to know. Random stranger.
I bust out my 3ds for the old school lovins.
So many RPGs!!!
don't forget Secret of Mana!
I have all three of those games
So glad to see Shadowrun on this list! That is my favorite SNES RPG. It's so strange but so fun.
Rock n roll racing, dkc, mortal kombat II, evo, mario all stars + world. Lost Vikings. Super star wars trilogy, earthworm jim.
I haven't heard anyone mention The Lost Vikings before.

I still play on my Super Nintendo Street Fighter Alpha 3, Mario All Stars, Killer Instinct, and Final Fantasy 4
I’m screaming at my screen, “Thanks for posting your favs man”
I personally need to thank you.
Still love playing Aladdin and SMW and Donkey Kong Country.
Aladdin on the Genesis is way better than the SNES version
The graphics in Aladdin are beautiful.
Paperboy 2 , also street fighter 2 turbo - killer instinct - mortal kombat 1-3 for fighting games... hard to beat
Zombies ate my neighbors is my go-to for the Snes.
Same here I play it on Sega though
I play on both 😎
That game was awsome
I want to get ghoul patrol though, no one talks about that one, it's basically zamn 2
Great game but imo WAY TOO HARD! Need game genie action to properly enjoy it with a buddy that is not so good at it.
Cool story and totally agree about the snes. Sorry about your uncle tho. 👍👍
@@micktaylor9332 Thanks man.
Maybe it’s just because I was brought up with it and my preference but, I’m glad I got the European design of the SNES it looks so much nicer.
I wish the US had the European design. It’s so much cooler looking!
I love the look of the US version!
@@fervcorsica3358

GOD BLESS MMURICA,!!!

I’d never be “shouting at the screen” with you, Mr. Jesus.
You do rock.
Games I still enjoy on the Snes are Super Metroid, Illusion of Gaia, Pilotwings and Super Castlevania
My SNES collection was so good, and I traded it all away to Funcoland to get an n64, still regret it till this day. Funny thing is I still have my original SNES console and I can’t remember what happened to my N64, think I had to pawn it
I had a pretty good collection. You don't want to know how much I traded it all in for. It's depressing. But I have most of it back.
Same story here. But I will never get rid of my N64 collection. Everything is complete in box. Really want to start collecting for it.
@MasterStryfe dum ass
@MasterStryfe stfu you'd cry in the corner if you smoked crack you little pussy
start rebuilding your snes collection if you haven't already!
Enjoy!
He couldn't help himself but to say hidden gems already half a minute into the video
So many great games for SNES, SimCity and NHL '94 are my Go-2's for sure.

Super Mario World
Turtles in time
Street Fighter 2 Turbo

There's ALWAYS be a shit ton of people of playing at parties. That and Tekken 3. I know different console but those were the two games that EVERYONE loved in my bubble.
Brenden Crosby tbh, im surprised too! To me, it is the SNES! (Along with mario world, and SF 2).
SNES wasn’t overly popular in the UK, it was mainly Mega Drive and Master System :/
@@gaglet have you played donkey Kong country?
Donald Mccarty yes, i ‘played’ it all the way through. It’s awesome. I no longer play it. I listed games i still played, not the best snes games.
@@gaglet ah, sorry
Even if you didn't grow up with a SNES I don't understand how someone couldn't like it. Its library is full of some of the best games of all time from some of the best series' of all time. Ian from the CUPodcast is one of the most outspoken TH-camrs who just doesn't like the SNES. I mean, that's his prerogative, but I feel like he's trying a bit too hard to be contrary to popular opinion. He just strikes me as the type of guy who will go out of his way to not like something that the vast majority of people like, or the other way around.
DKC1&2 every year baby! Along with a few more like Starfox, Yoshi's Island, A Link to the Past, man the SNES rocked
MrMetalJesus, its amazing how you keep bringing quality content, knowing you are going through hard times and busy with the move. Sometimes when im going through life crisis I pick up a game controller and play some retro games and I forget all my problems.
Im an 80s kid and 10 of my favorite SNES games are:
1. The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past
2. Uniracers
3. Zombies Ate My Neighbors
4. The Adventure of Batman and Robin
5. Earthworm Jim 1&2
6. Joe & Mac
7. Kid Klown in Crazy Chase
8. The Lion King
9. Yoshis Island
10. Super Smash TV
I still play Tetris Attack since you can use codes to get back where you were in the game. It's really a great puzzle to play
Agreed. The head to head competitive mode was pretty intense too. 🔥
I still play Demons Crest, one of the best snes games. Possibly a hidden gem since a lot of people never played it but if they had they would know how great it is. So much replay value too trying to get everything in the game. And it has like 4 different endings depending how many things you have collected.
Love the Snes, one of my faves has to be Killer Instinct!.
Gotta love that ludicrous game speed option.
As a kid the SNES games I played all the time - Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country & Street Fighter II Turbo. Now I play them all the time on my handheld emulator where ever I go.

Demon's Crest made by capcom is such an underrated gem
Definitely a gem. That game was a lot of fun to play especially when it came to evolutions.

Uniracers is great. 🚲
That Toys R Us kiosk is literally the only time I ever played DKC. I really need to track down a copy to play now!
Donkey Kong Country is also included on the SNES Mini...so if you can't find a decent copy, you might snag that!
It’s not hard to find a copy, so do it. Beautiful looking game. 💊
Those kiosks always had the nicest monitors and made the games look so nice!

The Legend of the Mystical Ninja is an amazing game. I remember playing it so much with a friend of mine. The hidden mini-games and the town exploration is basically proto-GTA. It's an incredible game with an incredible co-op experience, too. That game is incredibly underrated!

What are you talking about?
The year was 1997 when I was finally old enough to play video games at age 3 and I have nothing but fond memories of the SNES, DKC and Super Mario All Stars. But what really blows me away even two decades later is the fact that my older brother's game boy games from when he was growing up could be played in color on the Super Game Boy. Such a novel concept for the time.
I was lucky enough to buy the legend of the mystical ninja from a second hand store as a kid. I was soooo happy with the purchase.
I need to play the Genesis version some more. I've heard they are completely different.
@@MetalJesusRocks They are completely different, and I think a lot of people agree that the Genesis version is the superior version. But that doesn't take anything away from the SNES game. Can't believe you mentioned Rock N Roll racing!! No one knows about it, we used to rip that game to shreds back in the day
Some of the games I always come back to are; Final Fight 2, F-zero, Super Double Dragon, TMNT turtles in time, Aero Fighters, Super Smash Tv, Space Megaforce, Tecmo Superbowl and Iron Commando.
