Instead of disabling "use USB for communication", select "serial (on USART1 PA10/PA9) communication" for Ender 3 v2.

    • @patangding

@@Pdunns3D From my understanding, USART (Universal Synchronous/Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter) is a means of serially (meaning one bit at a time) transferring data that would be used for the SBC (single board computer) to be able to communicate with your printer. Depending on the kind of printer you have, I am assuming some can communicate to your SBC by some other means besides serial data transfer. The letters followed by the numbers refer to names which correspond to relevant pins on the main PCB (Printed Circuit Board) of the printer). Depending on what kind of printer you have, the main PCBs vary so the pins and protocols might not necessarily be the same. I hope this helps!

Just wanted to say thank you for the great tutorial. Really streamlined the installation and learning process for me. Klipper has been a complete game changer - I was originally printing at a glacial 45mm/s on the stock firmware (going any higher would often compromise print quality). Working with the printer through the LCD, rotary encoder, and micro sd card was a complete chore and sapped all my motivation. Now i can comfortably print at 100-200 mm/s on Klipper with all the bells and whistles: 8x8 auto bed leveling, input shaping through accelerometer resonance measurement, and smooth pressure advance. The fluidd web interface is a joy to work with. Even when I make a mistake or modification, I no longer dread the process of recalibrating the printer.
This has let me grow up from a 3d printing babby to... insufferable 3d printing teen lol. 10/10 would Klipperize again.
So thank you very much and look forward to seeing more of your amazing content!

I avoided Klipper for 2 years now, and in this time I configured dozen of Marlin configs for my printer. Seeing how easy this is, compared to Marlin, I kinda feel shamed for not even looking into it till now.
I hope I can learn it quicky, and might not be that easy, simply because nothing I use is "default" on my enders, a E3D titan direct drive, dual z, filament width sensors, etc. I think and hope that this video is a great start.

I've just watched a bunch of your klipper videos. Very informative and a cut above the other ones I have seen so thanks for taking to the time to make them. I've got a pi in the mail to run klipper on my ender 3 now. I want to see how far I can push it with an orbiter DD extruder! Once I've got to grips with that I hope to do one of the Switchwire conversions on my E3 to build the confidence to make a Voron Legacy :)

I just completed a Fluidd/Klipper conversion to my Ender3v2. Your instructions were very helpful. I did this with a view to starting a Voron2.4 build as it gives me a chance to understand the software on a known entity. One question. I have configured the Z offset using the TESTZ process but it has still needed a little manual tweaking at print test time. How do I reflect this adjustment in permanent settings?

    • @wilddog6060
      @wilddog6060 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@SlinkyGangStudios yes - i used the offset in fluidd to fine adjust the nozzle when it was printing the skirt - i also added 3 more rounds on the skirt and slowed it down so i would have time to adjust it - then manually changed the commented out value at the end of the printer.cfg file. Now there is a save button next to the z adjust but you can only use it when a print is completed

@@CanuckCreator The advantage of an app like octopod is to be able to receive notifications of the printing status with a current photo taken.
Is there really a difference between Fluid / Mainsail and Octoprint?
Some of the Octoprint plugins are really handy.

@@fabiooliveira5857 ATM there really are no plugins for fluidd or mainsail simple due thier underlying nature, its a much lighterweight interface and its designed from the ground up for klipper. This lets it be lighterweight and require much less power to run, but on the downside its missing some of the underlying dependencies that some plugins require.
There is work being done though on porting some to them in the future.

Hey man.. i did all the steps you did. Only when i was done, i got an UNKNOWN error in fluidd. Could it be because i have 2 printers connected to the pi?

Hi, thank you for the tutorial. I'm trying to follow this with the Ender 5 with an SKR 1.3 board but am not sure which config file to use. Could you point me in the right direction?

    • @CanuckCreator

The ender 5 config is probably for the stock board..so what i would do is use that one to start. But change the pin assignments to match the skr pins

Can you explain how to find out the Arduino pin layout? As I'm only have a Marlin layout for my MKS Gen L 1.2 board, and the config examples doesn't have mine listed

So, I watched you video through before doing anything. Then I followed along while you did it all. I get this error in fluidd:

I have an ender 5 plus with an OEM silent board v2.2.1 . I have to use the at2560 for make menuconfig. in the klipper/out folder it generates and klipper.elf and klipper.elf.hex file. I'm not sure if the ender 5 plus uses a bin file. Do i have to rename the hex file? when i leave it as is and copy the file onto an SD, then turn the printer on. nothing happens.
