You know, they could have easily added anxiety/tension to this game without a time limit, simply by adding an unstoppable Mr. X/Nemesis type zombie constantly hunting you.
@@kethorne5228 I actually love when games do this kind of thing. Like just imagine some un kill able zombie always somewhere coming for you in a game like dying light
That sounds awful, Bundy, and just about as lazy. It's been a staple of the series, and should continue to be. I would be down for a free play mode, but replacing the timer entirety with the unkillable enemy would not only be boring, but drastically change the tone of the game.
I should try 3 again i like Dead rising 4 alot even tho most havent enjoyed it although it should have been a expansion pack for 3 i think sense it plays similarly
Interesting thing to note, "New Coke" was focus tested like crazy to massive acclaim from the taste testers, when it came to the market though it tasted like garbage and bombed. The reason? New Coke tasted good in small sips, just like they gave the taste testers. Deadrising 4 might have been popular with the people who played it in a room for 15 minutes but... I think you can see my point
@@damnedlegionaire If I recall the theory states they intentionally made it shitty to make everyone love the original flavor, something to that extent.
Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty. The bathrooms you could see yourself in up to 5 mirrors at once mirroring your movements respectfully, granted it was only you in there and 1 or two enemies at the most. However you would still see all reflections with you in and the enemies as you fight or drag them around. Game is like 13 years old or more.
The reason why there isnt reflections like these in games nowdays is because with the recent "raster" technologies, its incredible resource consuming, like, it makes the game with 60fps goes to the 20-10 fps with mirror refections. Even if there isnt anything heavy in the screen. Raytracing fix this, it still resource consuming, but not as much.
You should feel bad.....could have traded it in for a better game. Your grandma would probably want you to have a game you enjoy instead of 1 just because she bought it
You know what’s cool about Nick Ramos in DR3? I was watching a video about the game by TehSnakerer and he talks about how at the start of the game, Nick is afraid of the zombies and the situation he’s in and he even has a few dialogue cues that reflect that. But as the game goes on, he becomes a little more courageous and, for lack of a better word, comfortable in the zombie apocalypse and starts throwing around a few one liners. It’s very subtle character building, but it’s cool if you catch it. Unlike Frank in DR4 who keeps talking about mini golf.
Dr3 isn't even a bad game, it just kinda has a weaker setting and they leaned wayy to heavily into combo weapons to the point where it was cartoony but besides that atleast it still had a dead rising esque story, 4 doesn't even try bro it's like trying to be a cod dead rising or something, something real nasty nobody asked for.
Never played it, but it is on the Xbox Game Pass so I'll try it. The first Dead Rising was extremely difficult, but it was fun, which is why it's my favorite Dead Rising other than 3.
Holy shit I just watched a 32 minute video about a game that I dont know and dont play and I'm not interested in just because the guy commenting was fucking amazing
Straight up I bought the game, finished it the same day, and sold it two days later. After you complete the campaign there is nothing left to do. Yes you can argue it's just a campaign game, but the game is 60$ it's just not worth it.
There was Case West for Dead Rising 2 which saw the return of Frank West as well ... although Case West really was lackluster at best. It was canon, though.
Dead rising 2 off the record was the perfect way of being back frank A non canon spin off That added new weapon combos and all new dialogue and an overall improved experience of the base game of dead rising 2 With even new endings and events And the basis of the lore is great Frank west the legend among men Ended up falling from grace So he tries to go on a zombie game show Based on how well you play the opening arena match the more money you start the game with A risk and reward start But something goes wrong the zombies escape and frank makes his way to the safehouse Cue satisfying and enjoyable story and gameplay of dead rising 2 with the bonus of our home boy frank west
Madnessman I agree, I hate people who say oh it's just same game and was done 4 money, no shit of course it's the same game but giving u a character u love and his move set, chuck and frank have different move sets and u have photography, and it's not just the same game there were new bosses and weapons. U can see the effort in it. But there's still stuff that surprise u and the best part is, they kept Rebeca alive, let me quote cliff from DR1 "OH YEAH" love Rebecca
have you guys played, dead rising case west. it is a short co-op that lets you play as frank and chuck, you have frank and chuck working together at the same time. it was released in between dr2 and dr3
The Offical Proto He didn't let Katie die. Chuck wasn't able to reach the green room in time, like in regular DR2, and she got killed by the zombie on the room. Chuck went nuts because he failed to save her, leading to him going fucking crazy and making that Katie doll as a substitute for his real daughter.
I just did too. I'm kind of sad about the way it was left off. Like, I'm glad the dog is safe, but what happened to his family? Did they decide to put the son back in therapy? Has the relationship with his wife improved? I suppose these are questions we might never get answered.
Dojan5 the last update I read said that the wife had lost her job & is probably involved with drugs/prostitution, the dog died recently, the father's life is OK and he has a decent relationship with his son.
Dead Rising 1 is the best because it had the best paced story and atmosphere. Its the only game in the series designed around making you feel stressed and claustrophobic, DR2 focused more on pure wacky fun. DR1 is the only story in the series I can think of that has an actual message, which was basically a critique of corruption in the American government which is pretty impressive for a goofy Japanese zombie game. The happy mall music starts the game out kinda chill, but as the game carries on there’s more and more zombies (and soldiers) and the game gets more and more stressful in a good way, and the happy mall music is less and less present. The first time I saw the black ops guys show up, I was basically sneaking around in the dark with low health and low supplies, sneaking to the orange juice in the dark and nervously chugging it hoping I don’t hear “GET ‘IM!!” and get mowed down, barely inching my way along to the safe room. When I first saw the chopper crash in DR1 I felt the same way Frank did. I actually kinda gave a damn about Jessie and Brad, they appear to be the ones in charge instead of Frank on the first playthru and losing them was a big bummer, it’s cool because most of the game’s story (government, Jess, Brad, Carlito, Isabela) already happened offscreen but Frank is just the guy to piece it all together. (I didn’t give a shit about any side characters in DR2 like those hippie chick, except Rebecca Chang was a decent Ada Wong/Catwoman counterpart.) And also something about the opening of DR1 made the safe room feel like an actual important shelter that zombies can’t make their way to. Going back to the safe room felt like a journey, and you felt like you needed to mentally prepare before leaving it. The mall in the game is a lot scarier and more claustrophobic than the big open casinos of DR2 that were designed for pure fun instead of scare factor. When the mall goes dark you felt nervous. Escorting survivors was stressful in a good way and somehow, to me, the survivors’ awful AI made it more effective. This is just cope but it’s almost like they’re acting irrationally because they’re frightened. But I have to say, DR2, Case West, and OTR are also great, they feel like actual big expansions of the ideas DR1 had, they all take place in one “small” location the entire game yet it still feels like there’s a lot of mysteries hidden in the locations. Secret passages etc. the stories were less compelling that 1 but still focused on uncovering a conspiracy in a pretty interesting way, just not as stressful. Case West especially felt like an amazing combination of Dead Rising 1’s characters and story with Dead Rising 2’s story and gameplay and honestly DeadRising 2 feels like a side story in comparison. Dead Rising 3 was really good but it was too open and not colorful enough for a Dead Rising game, it went for the Walking Dead aesthetic because that was *THE popular show to watch* at the time. but the story in it was pretty impressive and there were A LOT of plot twists I didn’t expect. It was a fun as hell game it just wasn’t very stressful and was too sandboxy, yet didn’t quite have the “goofy” factor of the past games, making it slightly futuristic was also weird. DR4 focused TOO much on the “goofy” because they assumed all Dead Rising players want is Frank West, fart jokes, and super powered weapons. They assumed shit like mowing down huge groups of zombies with mech suits and magic norse mythology weapons was what people bought DR for. They tried to go back to their roots by having a game focused around a conspiracy in Willamette with Frank West, which was actually sort of cool, but the story felt cliche and the game looked kinda ugly. It’s cool that you could finally actually explore the town of Willamette, and the mall was absolutely gigantic, you could spend hours and hours never going to the outside town, but the Willamette mall was really the only fun place to be in the game and it was more like a normal real life mall instead of a really stylish mall like DR1. What sucks is apparently they were working on a Dead Rising 5 that was going to pretend 4’s story never happened, but then Capcom Vancouver got shut down so I guess we won’t get another dead Rising for a long time.
While I agree with the fact that Dead Rising was well paced, it’s story messaging was jumbled, which made it enjoyable. It wasn’t a critique of the US government because the logic and the attempted messaging in the game never really added up. I played the game for years over and over again and loved it and I still come to the same conclusion about its messaging: logic contradicts its story messaging. While attempting to blame the government for the entire ordeal, the basis for the Santa Cabeza Incident was, by all accounts, accidental. The US Military’s involvement in starting it: minimal. Their actions in the cleanup operation: completely unknown other than the immediate blame and vilinazation of government and military involved. Frank’s immediate move to blame the government before Barnaby even explains isn’t sensical but rather a rush to judgement. A lot of the narrative mouthpieces contradict logical reasoning, on every side in the story, including the government’s, which covers up an accident for no reason, acting as though they were guilty of causing it even though accidents are accidents unless evidence proves the opposite. So, the entire narrative is jumbled, contradictory and illogical... but that’s what makes it GOOD. It reminds me of the horror zombie films of the Romero era and the zombie films that followed in pop culture; their stories are nonsensical and often incorporate anti-government/anti-corporate messaging, often with them being involved somehow in the cause of the zombie outbreak for some reason. Those films, while cheesy and ultimately nonsensical, are iconic on pop culture. Dead Rising truly took that to heart, even when the messaging itself was jumbled like many of the messaging story elements seen in zombie films, games and media. Dead Rising’s memorable plot is memorable because of its ode to zombie films of old; the cheesy B-movie story telling that makes little logical sense but still manages to entertain and combine thriller and horror elements seemlessly in its tone. Dead Rising 1 was a testament to capturing the spirit of zombie films, such as Dawn of the Dead, and other pieces of zombie media. Frank, despite what people might think, isn’t very funny in this game, but instead, Frank West is the most relatable. His numerous quips weren’t often used and he approached situations in the most realistic manner possible. We connected so easy to Frank because how he acts, for the most part, is how we imagine ourselves acting in those situations. He’s truly an Average Joe; a person That’s just like us and acts just like us and says what we might say. His resourcefulness ingame And In cinematics also connects us, especially if he’s seen trying to improvise his conversation with Larry the Butcher in trying to free Carlito without even referencing Carlito directly, only referring to him as meat in his conversation with Larry to try to get him to give Carlito to him. Another bit was when he used a simple shopping cart to push bombs out of the tunnels. He’s very relatable in almost every single way and Frank is beloved more for that than he is for any funny quips or traits but, rather, known and remembered for being an Average Joe; for being one of us in a one of a kind situation. Dead Rising 1 is a masterpiece in those ways; in the way that you’d expect an amazing b-movie to be. Hell, it’s reasonable to say that Dead Rising is the Die Hard of zombie video games; it was an event, a turning point in the genre. It influenced game design and captivated the imaginations of players. It’s character was entirely relatable and we rooted for him and the rest of the heroes. We rooted for Brad and Frank and Jessica in stopping Carlito. It was a game that was beyond what some games could be.
how is it that not only the dialogue cuts out in cutscenes, but the SUBTITLES dont appear either. like holy crap, did anyone even test this shitty game? what were they thinking?
Maybe the display of the subtitles was tied to the audio file for each line playing. If the line played, that would be a good way to make sure that the subs sync with the audio. Too bad they fucked up the audio coming in the first place
+RennsReviews hey man, game dev here. When images are reflected off surfaces, its not for example, upto 3 to 4 complete copies of assets displayed through said reflective surface, but an engine mounted in game camera (like the players third person camera) pointed in the direction the window is facing, displaying an image on that asset face. The texture or assets opacity was probably differed or given a glass styled texture to give it its window effect. Just a heads up. Loved the vid btw!!
brandon hammer Yeah sorry lol, that is true. Not all games would have this item through custom built or simply some commonly used engines. Also game design differs from designer to desinger, studio to studio. This is simply a commonly used item for Unreal and Unity. The Cry Engine can also use this method, but many games e.g. (Coincidentally) Crysis, demonstrate a higher poly/res/Graphic Volidity/- or just different way of using methods. Sorry for the confusion all
I came across this video not knowing what Dead rising 4 was, I still don't know what it is but now that I've finished this video that I already hate Dead rising 4.
this is everything that is wrong with the internet, you take some guys word for it ? that u, u as a person an individual will not like the game, based on an edited video with some guys opinion and not judge it for urself ? play the game for urself, not because other people dont like it... iv play hundreads of games i enjoy yet others hate. videos made like this guy has made, will of course make you hate the game... i stopped watching reviews for games 2 years ago and its the best thing i have ever done and discovered quite a lot of fun games... (best way to put it, its like anime reviewers, dont ever read them and base ur decision to not watch it based on what some one else wrote)... people srly need to stop this kinda shit and play games for themselves.
The mall looks NOTHING like the old one! And it's not like the old one got demolished! It's suppose to be the same! We aren't allowed to return to the underground, the old safe room, visit other locations...fuck this game

@@mortemtool1783 yeah, in the main game Frank dies by the zombies in the end But then Capcom added a DLC where you play as a zombie frank It's asura's wrath all over again smh
@@asincereman5297At least there's a genuinely good reason Asura's Wrath had to have its true ending split off into DLC: the game as released was simply too massive for a standard-size PS3 disc due to how many high-quality assets it used. I'm not sure if Capcom refused to splurge on a larger disc filesize or none existed, but that is apparently the reason. It's also baffling that they've never rereleased the game despite its excellent reception and decent financial success, but Capcom's managerial decisions tend to leave a lot to be desired no matter the era. Though, they have been doing a lot of remaster collections lately, so... I live in hope.
And yet dealing with them in those games felt more enjoyable, with Dead Island having its arcade like combat and Dying Light making them feel like actual threats
Hey im a moderator from /r/deadrising and just wanted to ask you to try resubmitting this video. I dont know why it was removed, but this video deserves to be up.
For me the first thing i noticed playing this game was that the town feels way too small for the amount of zombies that are present, its like newyork was bussed into a town that seems only large enough to house a couple of hundred people, not to mention that the zombies in the mall feel like more than the town can hold as is, in the first game it made sense for the mall to be packed because they were all packing in looking for the survivors that had hold up there and you never truly knew how big the town was, two and three were set in cities that felt big enough to warrant their zombie populations while this one seems a whole lot smaller in comparison
It’s really quite sad. DR4 has more views on TH-cam tearing it apart than the amount of copies it sold. I recently purchased it on sale for 6$ and could only get through about an hour.
DR4 had to have been put together in a short period of time. the animations are poor, there are a lot of QC glitches, the story is very desperate in an attempt to reboot the franchise, the weapon depth isn't close to previous titles (both combo and regular weapons) i mean it was still technically "enjoyable" as far as mindless zombie killing goes lol.
RealJordanM It deserves to be banished from Xbox! Because of the removal of everything what's great about the franchise. (Psychopaths, Time Limits, Mix Juices, Multiple Endings, Escort Missions, Sandbox Mode, and Nightmare Mode)
RealJordanM the game got so boring after a month and barely any content and i was already lvl 100 after 1 month and the new dlc mini golf is so boring lol they should add more characters and diff maps in multiplayer
"Going back to their roots" I think they mean they have a new guy with the same name and job, a new town with the same name, zombies, the game name plus the number 4, and well.. that's about it.. #NOTMYFRANK #NOTMYMALL WHERE ARE MY HEALTH CUBES?!?! WHY DO I HAVE A HEALTHBAR IN A DEAD RISING GAME!!
If the developers say that the game took two years to make, it would make them look even worse because the game is so unfinished that is seems like it were made in a single year.
if this serves as more info , for all I know , most of the people that worked on DR2-3 left or got fired and hired alot of people from EA vancouver, also I don't think DR4 is the way it is because of DR3 underselling, that game sold almost as much as DR2 and that was multiplat, if they didn't keep it as an exclusive I bet it would have sold double. but hey if it serves as good news, 4 didn't even sold a million copies.
Very interesting, can I ask where you got your information from? Also after I made this video, I found an article where the interview asked Joey nickols a question, part of the question was "So you've been working on this game for 3 years now...(rest of question) Joe didn't acknowledge the timeframe of development when he answered the question, much like the developer I showed later in this video. It doesn't necessarily prove anything, but it definitely doesn't hurt my case.
some friends told me,I didn't want to believe it so I did my research, looking at this site and I started checking if most of the past staff was still there, and by the comments alot of these people here imply that they were getting alot of employees from EA or alot of talented people leaving. www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Capcom-Vancouver-Reviews-E256057.htm btw to add to your vid, I have some other stuff to add like the cars don't gain momentum if you keep pressing the aceleration button, the amount of normal weapons seem to be less than DR1. if you pay attention to the models of the stranded survivors of 3 they have alot of detail, compare those to the ones you see in 4. between a ton of other details that 4 didn't brought back at all from 3. I have a theory of why the psychos are out and its because they wanted to be politically correct, back in the day I saw various reviews and users calling DR3 racist, sexist , homophobic and transphobic between other buzzwords back in the year it was released, as well for a video review of the series were the dude uses the same words to refer to the survivors/psychos of that game(I tried finding those videos again but I haven't been able to as of lately), but to back my claim heres the article were nickolls midly talks about it www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2016-11-29-we-need-to-make-changes-so-that-there-can-be-a-dead-rising-5-6-and-7
Yeah there's a ton wrong with the game that I didn't put into the video because it's already long enough, didn't notice the thing about the cars momentum. As for the psycho thing, it's a solid theory, they seemed hellbent on keeping just about everybody happy.
I don’t get how a franchise like DeadRising could go from AMAZING to TRASH in a single game. DeadRising 1, 2, and 3 were fun as hell (with an interesting story) and then DR4 just felt straight up bland.
@@screamsinrussian5773 i mean liam is known for talking with industry developers across the globe and even came with screenshots of all of capcom Vancouver's other projects before and after DR4. Check out the video I linked if your uncertain.
I had fun with DeadRising 4, but after I completed the campaign (in 7 hours), there was nothing to do and I instantly got bored. I returned it and got Skyrim Special Edition instead.
No the problem with the video game community is people who buy the games before they actually play them and then complain when it's shit which is really their own fault for hyping it up so much.
@@SentientPotatoXIII Bro, in PS4 you can buy the Dead Rising Triple Pack, which includes DR1, DR2 and DR2 OTR. Or you can buy the individually. It's recommended either way, they are AWESOME games. They arent even expensive.
wish they brought back the Willamette from 2006, let you explore the whole town, more vehicles, better graphics, and more weapons, I’m basically asking for a DR1 remaster lol
Technically already been done. They released an Xbox One/PS4 (maybe PC too, I dunno) port of Dead Rising. Brought the game to the new generation while still being exactly the same game. It won't be comparable to most photorealistic games nowadays, but it's still as good as it was back in 2006.
DR 1 remaster with the actual mall being re skinned, not re imagined , old survivors coming back , old Frank West (kinda like Old Snake) , same voice actor . Same everything with new-gen consoles with another story without the silly kid friendly BS . AND and actual DR 1 Remaster
I’m kind of glad that they didn’t bring Frank’s original voice actor in here because it would’ve ruined his reputation But I mean who doesn’t wanna play as Michael from GTA5 in a dead rising
I love the Dead Rising franchise and was excited for DR4. When they first showed "Frank West" I was disappointed, then more and more info was revealed about the game and for the most part, all I heard was that they were removing features that made the 1st game special and unique,. I heard there was no 2p coop campaign and when they showed off the coop mode I just gave up. Seriously Frank looks ugly as hell and you can't just replace the perfect voice actor. No time limit no psychopath bosses. I'm glad I didn't buy this shit. Now the dead will never rise again.
I hated how the developers of this Godforsaken game had the audacity to state that they were part of the original Dead Rising. Even though it was clear as day they had absolutely NOTHING to do with it.
The devs clearly missed the fundamental point of why people liked Frank, he was always so serious and we the players would make him do stupid things which would look funny
Yeah dressing him up in short shorts and flip flops with one of those tied chick shirts, and eating out of a trashcan all the while he's like in the middle of trying to escort people to safety so he can get more info to uncover the truth.
Now that we know about the game's development after CV's shutdown, we know now that the game WAS actually slapped together in a year with a significantly smaller budget.
@@DavidVanPatten358 A year late, but this information was unearthed in Liam Robertson's video about the troubles of Capcom Vancouver before its eventual shutdown, including projects they sank far too much money into that never saw fruition. If you're still looking, that's where you can find the information! Robertson is a reputable source.
7:15 Your comment about time limits is very accurate. In the UK, there is a game show called The Crystal Maze, where contestants have to play games, timed at 2 minutes, 2 and a half minutes or 3 minutes, and often alot of the time, the games are fairly simple, but so many contestants absolutely fluff it up because the time limit puts so much pressure on them, because if they go over time they get locked in the room. Worth checking out, and proves your comment completely right.
The 4th game should've never been made in the first place because the 3rd game ended off with them finding a cure and killing General Hemlock. Oh, and another thing, Dead Rising is also known for their bosses. Dead Rising 3 has the best quality in terms of bosses with good music, while Dead Rising 4 has no music, and nothing special about each boss like all the Dead Rising bosses had.
I went to a small town shopping mall that was somehow mostly still in business recently and it was very dull, lifeless, and didn’t do a good job of justifying it’s existence. This game captures that atmosphere fairly accurately.
iateasodacan123 yeah but 55 is a pretty small amount, i wasn't satisfied at all maybe it's because i like collecting everything so i love having things to collect
My problem with this game is that they changed or removed things from previous games that simply didn't need to be changed at all. Saying this game was a huge setback from DR3 is literally the best description for it. Surely all they had to do was copy and paste features and just add more new stuff on top of it but for some reason they tried to reinvent the franchise and put no effort into it
Nope more like It's the Resident Evil 6 of the Dead Rising series cause Resident Evil 6 is the worst pile of fucking shit I have ever had the displeasure of playing fuck the people who like it and fuck everyone that made it, Okay I admit that was a bit uncalled for but honestly FUCK Resident Evil 6 and Dead Rising 4, Plus it's made by Capcom.
No matter how much you hate Fallout 4 that's not a fair comparison. Fallout 4 actually improved aspects of the game, even if they're not ones you wanted. Dead Rising 4 is a downgrade in every measurable way.
Things I liked about dead rising 4 1:the new weapon wheel: I like what they did with the weapon wheel. The fact that you can go between 3 different weapon types in one menu, and the food bar was a nice touch. 2: the new zombies: I liked the newly infected and the evolved were cool ideas, but they were weaker then they should've been. 3:the security rooms. I just liked the design and the idea of the multiple safe zones. I still wish you could escort survivors to the safe zones, but I still like the idea of multiple safe zones. 4: ... Alright I got nothing for 4 that's it. I hated everything else in the game. The "bosses", the laziness on the developers part, just everything else wasn't good. The final boss was cool though.
The CrowbCat video is very telling about the dev's philosophy making this game. You can tell that nobody who worked on this game had any passion for it whatsoever. Every design decision was made using meaningless data. "Our research showed that players don't like the time limit", like they must have had 10 children in a room and asked them "Do you think a video game should have a time limit"
It's the year 2019, they added it on gamepass. Download, log in, get covered in healing items. Every where you turn, you refill your health. No challenge.
so we went to a real purge from DR1 where you had close to 0 time to do anything, with maniacs having a shitload of HP while your max HP is something like "5" to a game where you can just cruise around and just kill stuff and make better weapons for? Somehow, they improved. As in "If I cover this shit with sugar it will maybe taste better" improved
I'm with you all the way. Capcom Vancouver has pretty much made a quest to doom DR4 right from the start of development, and it turns out they succeeded. The Uncharted series, on the other hand, has been given Universal Acclaim from both critics and gamers for a reason. Naughty Dog is one of the most valuable and storied developers out there, and based upon their works ever since they started developing for Sony's PS consoles, it shows. ND has a winning streak. The Uncharted series has always been praised for many reasons: Instantly lovable characters, cinematic presentation akin to that of big-budget summer blockbusters, improved gameplay that gets better with every installment, great storytelling, and they're all tons of fun. And the tone, too. Think of the Uncharted series as Naughty Dog's take on the Marvel Cinematic Universe feature films - It's PG-13, lighthearted, bright, easy and popcorn-munching entertainment with a couple of tense and sad moments. And it recieved awards, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End also sold well financally in addition to garnering critical success. It's the best-selling PS4 game, at 8.7 million copies sold (according to Wikipedia). Let's not forget The Last of Us, too. It's a masterpiece, and it's basically a sharp contrast to the Uncharted series: It's dark, very emotional, scary at times (it is a horror video game after all), bleak, depressing, and almost, if not fully, humorless. It's the R-rated, made-for-adults-by-adults-themselves title by ND. They made TLOU not only to continue their winning streak, they needed a new IP of theirs to balance out the goofy, action-packed fun of Uncharted. In short, Naughty Dog makes great, quality games with great stories and great gameplay. And in turn, they get so much $$$ because of it. They're basically the Pixar of Sony's Worldwide Game Develpment Studios, now that they've turned to making games with layered narratives laced with honest emotional depth. And if it weren't for the talented Neil Druckmann (who co-wrote Uncharted 4 along with Josh Scherr and co-directed along with Bruce Straley; Druckmann is the creative director - Straley is the game's main director) to fill in the role after Amy Hennig (the series' main creative director for the PS3-based trilogy; also previous writer of Uncharted 4) and Justin Richmond (who directed Uncharted 3 and was set to direct the 4th game) both bailed out of Naughty Dog, Uncharted 4 would not have seen the light of day. In short, both The Last of Us and Uncharted succeeded critically and financially, because there's so much top talent at Naughty Dog learning from their experiences and improving on them. Capcom Vancouver did the complete opposite of that.
she is comparing business practices, not games... it has nothing to do with the gameplay but rather how one franchise is treated like a golden goose and the other as a cow
sofaking onmynuts Again, two completely different games. Of course a story driven cinematic single player game will be treated with more respect, it’s harder to shit them out annually, thus making this comparison null and void.
i think you might be dumb, we are not comparing games. you can compare any company practices to one another. dr1, 2, and 3 were all treated with respect so......? what exactly is your point?
sofaking onmynuts My point is the OP is comparing apples to oranges, it’s a dumb comparison to make in the first place, it would make more sense to compare them to other DR entries in the series, not a story driven cinematic experience made by a completely different company with a completely different game in mind. TLOU was probably being made for years because it’s singleplayer and story focused, therefore making it harder to shit out those kinds of games compared to DR4 which was lazy and rushed. Makes no sense.
DR4 is just a game that focused on graphics; not gameplay. DR1 and 2 were REALLY fun. But DR4 clearly isn't the same. Dead Rising was meant to be a game where you could kill zombies with pretty much anything you could see. But the funny thing is: DR4 had some areas that you can't even pick up things off walls. Good video, man. Keep that confident voice in your videos.
DR4 is a game that focused on graphics? The graphics look shit. I've never played the game, but the difference in the clips from 3 to 4 are astonishing. The zombies have about 5 different colours and all look the same, the graphics look so much poorer and less polished, the gruesome details aren't their, their animations are seriously clippy, theres little detail on anything, there's no reflections etc. Comparing it to three is like comparing a professional artist with a lifetime of experience, to a 10year old doing a hand turkey
dude u likely dont even know why all the zombies look the same.... the zombies in dead rising 4 are cloned humans that were tested on with a new strain of the zombie virus within labs.. hence the reason they wear different colour outfits with the same face and plus 3 was a glorified tec demo for xbox nothing else, the main character lacked depth, the environment was gray and dull, all of the side characters were shit. and on pc the graphics really dont look like shit for 4... dr1 and 2 was ok for the time they were released in but to still call them good and fun games is very much pushing it...
DR4 graphics look like shit compared to the other games. They focused more on the fun of killing zombies than the story or other past features. Its great but it's not dead rising. It's basically a 3rd person Dead Island

Dead Rising 4, it’s a reference to the time limit messages of the earlier Dead Rising games, which usually took place over three days.
You know, they could have easily added anxiety/tension to this game without a time limit, simply by adding an unstoppable Mr. X/Nemesis type zombie constantly hunting you.
Dead rising 4 but there is a zombie terminator is constantly coming after you at a walking pace who is nye unkillable
Yeah but you gotta rush it. No time to do anything innovative.
What if the zombies could pick up and use those same weapons you were using? I feel that it could make for a very entertaining and interesting game.
The game might not have a timer but the devs sure did.
They became the thing that they hated the most.

You're actually dead on, in every pre release gameplay demo everyone was limited to 15 minutes of playtime

If you didn't touch it at all, then you could trade it in for something else. I doubt they'd refuse a mint condition copy.

Also they made Frank into a gigantic asshole for some reason? Like, he wasn't even that bad in Off the Record, and he was a bit of a dick there.
Yeah sure mate, nobody cares
TuPaP1 ChUl0777 The fans do mate

It's also baffling that they've never rereleased the game despite its excellent reception and decent financial success, but Capcom's managerial decisions tend to leave a lot to be desired no matter the era. The Slasher no... You are the one that is making himself look stupid. It's obvious we are talking about Unity, the game engine.
Unity was used to make Cities Skylines.
Dead rising 4 looks too vibrant to me. The zombies look like Christmas lights when they are in a horde
You mean fast random events that barely take any effort to do, including the "maniacs".
They look like gingerbread men
Graphix wise i like the colors
But meanwhile, Dead Rising 3 looks too dull, the grey atmosphere makes me wanna play hybrid theory
W-what?! HERE I WAS THINKING IT WAS TOO GRITTY FOR THE SAKE OF BEING GRITTY!!! It's fucking Christmas! GIVE ME LIGHTS!
It’s really quite sad. DR4 has more views on TH-cam tearing it apart than the amount of copies it sold. I recently purchased it on sale for 6$ and could only get through about an hour.
That was a waste of 6$
DR4 had to have been put together in a short period of time. the animations are poor, there are a lot of QC glitches, the story is very desperate in an attempt to reboot the franchise, the weapon depth isn't close to previous titles (both combo and regular weapons) i mean it was still technically "enjoyable" as far as mindless zombie killing goes lol.
RealJordanM whoever plays dead rising four non ironically is a really boring and stupid person.
RealJordanM It deserves to be banished from Xbox! Because of the removal of everything what's great about the franchise. (Psychopaths, Time Limits, Mix Juices, Multiple Endings, Escort Missions, Sandbox Mode, and Nightmare Mode)
Mystical Nyk they really did remove almost everything
RealJordanM *We're going back to our roots.*
The biggest lie in the history of Capcom. Period.
RealJordanM the game got so boring after a month and barely any content and i was already lvl 100 after 1 month and the new dlc mini golf is so boring lol they should add more characters and diff maps in multiplayer
"Going back to their roots"
I think they mean they have a new guy with the same name and job, a new town with the same name, zombies, the game name plus the number 4, and well.. that's about it..

Also after I made this video, I found an article where the interview asked Joey nickols a question, part of the question was "So you've been working on this game for 3 years now...(rest of question)
Joe didn't acknowledge the timeframe of development when he answered the question, much like the developer I showed later in this video.
It doesn't necessarily prove anything, but it definitely doesn't hurt my case.
some friends told me,I didn't want to believe it so I did my research, looking at this site and I started checking if most of the past staff was still there, and by the comments alot of these people here imply that they were getting alot of employees from EA or alot of talented people leaving. www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Capcom-Vancouver-Reviews-E256057.htm
btw to add to your vid, I have some other stuff to add like the cars don't gain momentum if you keep pressing the aceleration button, the amount of normal weapons seem to be less than DR1.
if you pay attention to the models of the stranded survivors of 3 they have alot of detail, compare those to the ones you see in 4. between a ton of other details that 4 didn't brought back at all from 3.
As for the psycho thing, it's a solid theory, they seemed hellbent on keeping just about everybody happy.
yeah, its sad ,trying to appeal to everyone while cathering to nobody.
Could be true since they only worked on car and fifa games never any fucking game with zombies

'This' video was great... honestly he's a bit inconsistent. His issues are ones that can be fixed through experience though.
I don’t get how a franchise like DeadRising could go from AMAZING to TRASH in a single game. DeadRising 1, 2, and 3 were fun as hell (with an interesting story) and then DR4 just felt straight up bland.
Turns out you were right. It was made in about 1.5 years. And rushed to hell.

Is this one of Todd Howard's multi accounts
No the problem with the video game community is people who buy the games before they actually play them and then complain when it's shit which is really their own fault for hyping it up so much.
They should've ported Dead Rising 3 to PS4 instead.
HOPEFULLY ONE DAY...
They never will but I'd love to buy it. I only got DR4 cuz it was the only one on ps4. If it wasn't, I would've gotten 3 first.

Bro, in PS4 you can buy the Dead Rising Triple Pack, which includes DR1, DR2 and DR2 OTR.
Or you can buy the individually. It's recommended either way, they are AWESOME games. They arent even expensive.
I should've rephrased my comment. DR4 was the only game on ps4 that wasn't a re release of the past games on last gen.

You sure you like him? Because the quote is "I've covered wars, Ya know."

The return to Willamete could've been cool they just fucked it up
wish they brought back the Willamette from 2006, let you explore the whole town, more vehicles, better graphics, and more weapons, I’m basically asking for a DR1 remaster lol
Technically already been done. They released an Xbox One/PS4 (maybe PC too, I dunno) port of Dead Rising. Brought the game to the new generation while still being exactly the same game. It won't be comparable to most photorealistic games nowadays, but it's still as good as it was back in 2006.
Wasn’t really a remaster but ok
DR 1 remaster with the actual mall being re skinned, not re imagined , old survivors coming back , old Frank West (kinda like Old Snake) , same voice actor . Same everything with new-gen consoles with another story without the silly kid friendly BS . AND and actual DR 1 Remaster
I’m kind of glad that they didn’t bring Frank’s original voice actor in here because it would’ve ruined his reputation
But I mean who doesn’t wanna play as Michael from GTA5 in a dead rising
I'll just stick with dead rising 1,2 and off the record.

I remember playing this for only 2 hours and the game crashed 5 times
I've heard several people saying that DR4 makes 3 look great. Your video definitely proves them right. Great video, man.

That was a joke? Wow... stop right there mr comedian.

Dead rising 4 is basically a dlc that was dropped in the original first game but its made to look like its not a beta
I got 3/4 of the way through the video and then realised that I've already seen it twice before... and then I continued watching.
dead rising doesn't need a huge map and a bunch of pointless combo weapons to be fun

No matter how much you hate Fallout 4 that's not a fair comparison. Fallout 4 actually improved aspects of the game, even if they're not ones you wanted. Dead Rising 4 is a downgrade in every measurable way.
Things I liked about dead rising 4
1:the new weapon wheel: I like what they did with the weapon wheel.

Rebecca Clark Those games could not be further from DR4. It’s an unfair comparison to make in the first place.
she is comparing business practices, not games... it has nothing to do with the gameplay but rather how one franchise is treated like a golden goose and the other as a cow
sofaking onmynuts Again, two completely different games.
Nox _ A DR4 fan watching a DR4 hating video. Now that's pathetic
dead rising 1 got better graphics then dead rising 4 lol
DR4 graphics look like shit compared to the other games. They focused more on the fun of killing zombies than the story or other past features. Its great but it's not dead rising. It's basically a 3rd person Dead Island
