Fun fact. When I was 12 I saw a video of Dead Rising on the TV show The Electric Playground. I was blown away. When I was 13 I saw the game being displayed at a local rental store. I had to ask my dad If I could rent it. (The game and the console. Since we didn't have the money to buy an xbox 360.) He said no. It was too violent. When I was 14 I had the money and was allowed to rent it. But when I arrived to the rental store. The clerk told me the game had received Sun damage by a renter leaving it on top of his console in the sun.... When I was 15 I got my first job. I still didn't have enough money to buy an xbox 360. So I bought the game. I had to rent an xbox 360 every time I wanted to play it. I loved the game so much I rented an xbox for an entire month.
I rented this from gamefly like 3 times. Used all my money to get a 360. I still play this game and have it on pc, ps4, and xbox 360 now. I got an xbox one just to play deadrising 3. Yeah like the best game series ever made. But the first is the best.
@@Deadforge The speedrunner strat is to immidiately somersault kick him, to before he can block to stun him and then double lariat and bicycle kick to kill him
@Excrete S_A_N_D Oh the easiest possible way to beat him is to go on the spot on the tank at a lower elevation and punch Brock's shins until he dies. It's less than efficient though
"There is a ton of reading material in this game." Neat. "But I bet Frank would love to listen to it on the go." Wait- she isn't... "Well- thanks to audible-!" Well played Sphere Hunter.... Well played...
Peak RE and Peak DR are polar opposites in tone despite having the same ratio of comedy and drama. RE1-3 were silly apocalypses, taken completely seriously by their main characters. Zombie sharks, a big gray man in a trenchcoat and trilby, giant mutant plants and bugs, all played straight, because the main characters took them seriously. Meanwhile Dead Rising is a very serious apocalypse. Everyone's dead, people have gone feral in response to seeing all the trauma, its horrible. But Frank doesn't give a solitary shit. Its a comedyhorror game because of the perspective Frank brings to it, despite the horror being more grounded than it is in RE.
And that's why fans love Frank. He gets the absurdity of life and just doesn't give af. His sense of humor in the face of complete insanity is legendary.
It seemed to me frank took his situation pretty seriously in DR. A few wisecracks sure but frank never acted ridiculous or like he wasn't in a life or death situation. That was up to the player/psychopaths
@@jayh5840 Frank encouraged chaotic behavior, though. When you crossdress as, say, Chuck in DR2, he complains. When you do it as Frank, he checks himself out and enjoys it. Frank takes the time to take pictures. Sure, you can argue its "up to the player" but you can tell what a protagonist values through what the gameplay rewards. And Frank's gameplay rewards taking pictures of people suffering before you help them, and taking pictures of zombies with pies in their face. And he repeatedly made it clear his primary motivation (for the opening third of the game, anyway, before shit got Really Dramatic) was The Scoop. And even once he accepted he had to do something ethically, the scoop was still really up there in terms of his motivations.
@@DARE0451 yeah, he takes pictures intended to shock people and draw them in for the media. Just because there's an achievement for changing into every outfit doesn't mean running around in panties is what frank likes to do. Frank reacts the same no matter what outfit you change into. In every cutscene, frank was serious and only tried to get to the bottom of the incident even if his priority was the scoop
Dead Rising 2 is arguably a "better" game with better AI and more responsive controls but I still can't help but love the first more. It's one of my all time favorite 7th gen games. The characters, the setting, the plot. I still pop it in to play even today.
HadesWTF Right! It was one of those games where once you played it for long enough, you actually remembered your way around without having to use the map. Probably helps that there’s a lot of backtracking, but you really did get the feel of that place. As “jank” as it was 😂🤘🏻
@Ball Weevil Heh, DR2 is by far the best sequel (and imo on par with the original because it did improve the gameplay a lot and coop is crazy fun) but Fortune City doesn't hold a candle to Willamette, I didn't find it nearly as memorable (maybe because of how much bigger it is) and it doesn't really change during night time (which makes sense since it's like a big casino city), Willamette was colorful during daytime with that stupid catchy music and all, but during the night it was completely silent and dark af, none of the sequels really did that again (they either go for a really colorful look like DR2 or...gray like DR3) and I really think it's a shame
Yeah the convicts are pretty easy to kill once you get them stuck in a tree but I think it's just the intimidation that scares most players since they arrive when you're such a low level surrounded by a ton of zombies and with a survivor to rescue. Plus their song Gone Guru is just somehow a perfect weird theme for them.
I just call any unreleased consoles (or super duper PC stuff that I don't follow) next gen. once it hits shelves and I buy it, it's current. I'm not playing next gen stuff. next gen it always the future lol
All of them are next gen consoles except for the first one... she called it next gen bcuz it's a game that was being developed for the NEXT gen console. Goofy
Dead Rising1 was amazing, maybe the best of all, I can't even forgive how they made the DeadRising4, it's so incomplete, and lacks of most of the features you just pointed out
The time limit ruined it for many, but good news is they fixed it in Dead Rising 4! I highly recommend it as they've fixed all the problems this one had, including getting rid of that time limit!
Loved this video as agree with everything! DR is my fave game of all time. Never understood the complaints about the timer, save system and survivors, as they are what makes the game so realistic and unique.
Kinda random but, when I was younger I always thought Frank hurt his leg when he jumped out of the chopper and that's why he walks slow as balls and there was no run button in the game. d:
I love how well researched and constructed your vids are and honestly, the first DR is still, in my opinion, the best in the franchise because it blended both the seriousness and the humor so well.
It also just has better characters. Psychos feel like people who just lost it in 1. Cliff incapsulates this perfectly. He’s not supposed to be entertaining he’s supposed to be sad. Every other game makes them cartoons for the sake of “wow zany wahoo adventure time am I right? You kids loved how silly these characters were right?”. I will give the second game credit for its analogies involving desensitization and corrupt big pharma exploiting people who need a medicine to survive for profits though. These things have aged depressingly well.
@@Neogears1312 As much as it sucked that "Dead Rising 4" took out the psychopaths, I think the one that best illustrates the problems with the psychos in 2 is the one in the chapel, trying to marry that woman. There's nothing sympathetic about him, and no indication that he was ever normal. He was always a creeper, from the very beginning. And the snipers, too. I've seen people like that in real life, unfortunately, but that doesn't mean I want to see them in video games! There's a difference between a person who snapped, and people who are just itching for an excuse to hunt people, and the zombie outbreak gives them the perfect scenario. I guess it's supposed to make them satisfying to kill, but meh.
PyramidHead316 to be fair that one is made to mock a real human being. You’re not supposed to sympathize with him. Slappy really sells this to me though, as he’s just Adam but then they decide “nah remember Stevens death that was funny. Slappy is comedic relief now” in 1 the convicts stayed the silly ones, jo was always the despicable one, Adam was the creepy one with tragic undertones, cliff was a broken man the snipers were an allegory for the problems with gun nuts etc. they didn’t just flip the script midway through so jo is actually a silly character.
It was lightning in a bottle with it being a whole new concept. Everything after that was trying to recreate 1 but they kept taking out things that made the 1st one great.
The best part about having to carry a survivor (piggyback or just lending a shoulder or even a hand) is that it makes you almost invulnerable: the physics engine adds the survivor's weight to Frank's weight, making it extremely easy to push back zombies before they can even attack you.
As much as I love this series, I have one large complaint. How does an old lady manage to take down a fortified barricade while men attempt to stop her? That lady's either very strong, or those men are very weak.
People also love their dogs, too. People have fought kangaroos, alligators, and even mountain lions and bears for their dogs. As dumb ass as she was for opening that barrier, I'm not surprised she found the adrenaline to do it. I thought the first thing at first when I first saw it, but nah it makes sense, in a way.
Remember, this is the same game where you can use toys and newspaper stands as weapons while also wearing a Lego head mask with children's clothing as a grown man.
I still love Dead Rising 1 even if I haven't played it in ages. I cared so much about playing it and seeing all it had that there's only two achievements I never got back on my original copy, the five and seven day survivor ones. It's one of those games that wouldn't get made today, and I mean in the "if someone took the concept and tried today, it'd be executed differently" sense. The timer especially wouldn't have made it through as it did, the first and second games were made into what they were by just how impactful the timer was, much like how the timer added pretty much nothing to the third game with how much leeway it gives. Love that you closed the video out with Justified, by the way. Also, how I beat Adam at low levels? Pick up a bunch of pistols and keep your distance. Shoot the balloons he blows and then him when he's stunned. Makes the fight a breeze. TJ Rotolo is also the only Frank West, there is no competition.
Same, did everything in that game. Rescuing all survivors was one of the most fun i had while playing a game in general. Or the fun ways to break the game
>Loves RE >Loves Dead Rising >Loves obscure survival horror games >Dorky and cute enthusiasm >Best avatar/persona design for gametubers Still surprised you don't have more views/subs.
Nikko The Idiot Especially for those who dare to tackle Infinite Mode. Though much like the loading times, I’m told it’s a lot easier due to the rest mode on PS4 and suchlike.
flashergoldpower15 Yea, not only will the mode no longer freeze on Day 3 whenever visiting the food court, you can play at your leisure, rather than 14 hours straight if you want all the unlockables. And given that most of the mode consists of just waiting for Frank’s health to drop from hunger (20ish minutes for a lvl 50 Frank) any break is good for your sanity...
I freaking love Dead Rising. It's too bad the series had to go the route it did, I think if they had kept the original Japanese developers the series would probably still be around today.
@@wintersong2266 They were called Blue Castle Games when they made 2. Since they did such a good job, Capcom decided to rebrand them as Capcom Vancouver.
@@jamesedleymusic Dead Rising 2 was pretty much the beginning of everything wrong with Dead Rising today. The series progressively got more mindless and exaggerated.
I have good memories of this game. I remember this when it dropped. My dad was friends with the EB GAMES manager and we got it a week before it was released. He gave it to my dad in a black case with no artwork. I miss those days. All I play is old games. I have a hard time getting into a lot of these new triple a games that come out. I miss when full games were released. Now we all are free beta testers lol.
Currently going through the whole series again, and am on my 3-rd (4th?) watch of this vid. I think its really amazing how you are able to explain why the game works, even making me realize some things i thought i hated about the game or atleast dislike are reasons why it works. Excellent vid.
Huh, that's strange. My adblocker failed to pick up on this one ad in the middle of the video that sounded like Sphere and everything. TH-cam is learning...
Honestly this video means a lot to me because it got me back into dead rising after forgetting about for a while and it became one of my favorite series ever. Thanks Suzi
I take it that you, Sphere, admire two of Capcom's high-profile early PS3/360 games, DMC 4 and Dead Rising 1. I agree, the early years of the 360/PS3 generation were truly some of the most magical years I've ever lived through. Dead Rising 1 is truly special in much of the correct ways: It's Capcom's first 360/PS3 gen title, it was developed in-house by Capcom of Japan (through production studio 1), its first new IP for the 360/PS3 gen, and it was a truly innovative new IP. Capcom came into the HD gen well-equipped by planning ahead, while other JP-based developers had a tough time trying to grasp the ropes (i.e. Square Enix). Dead Rising, as their first HD gen title and their first new IP for the seventh gen of gaming, coupled with a new gaming engine made by Capcom themselves, and a few gameplay innovations, was a huge gamble as a result, and one that, in the end, ultimately turned out successful. It got good reviews from both critics and gamers alike, it sold 1 million copies at the time of its original release on the 360, the character of Frank West managed to be Terence Rotolo's star-making role (and he's his baby), and in the end, essentially making it a platinum 360 title for Capcom. Coming off of a very successful PS2/Gamecube era, the early PS3/360 gen years held so much promise for Capcom. Now, Capcom wasn't perfect during the early PS3/360 years, but at least the company has still gotten this, as it has stuck with its modus operandi of developing games for its IPs in-house (as in not being crazy obsessed with Activision's business model and trying to ape the success of the Call of Duty games following CO4: MW) with Keiji Inafune along with the other top-level talent (Itsuno, Kobayashi, Ono, Takumi) still steering the company's ship though the uncharted waters of the early years of the PS3/360 era. And, like you pointed out in your DMC 4 retrospective, the early 2010s was when Capcom started to lose its way, as the success of Activision's business model (i.e. high-reward/low risk) and the financial success, and exploding popularity of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare caught the JP-based game company's attention towards Activision. It wanted to follow the leader. So, that is the reason why it decided to ship out some of its more popular IPs to Western-based (USA and Europe) develoeprs like Devil May Cry to Ninja Theory, Lost Planet to Spark Unlimited, and Dead Rising to Capcom Vancouver. It didn't help that, at the end of the year 2010, Inafune left Capcom, and the company almost began to falter and get lost in the far reache sof nowhere right away. Capcom Vancouver, without the JP-based team that worked on DR1, made DR3 as an attempt to appeal to the Call of Duty Crowd. Resident Evil 6, despite being developed in-house by Capcom, was made more into a Michael Bay action movie - packed with car chases and explosions - rather than the survival horror gameplay Mikami had envisioned. And, on top of that, Capcomd ecided to treat their mascot, Mega Man, like trash during its 2010-16 dork age by canning both Universe and Legends 3 and giving him a crummy iOS app by the name of Rockman Xover. Yes, there were a few gems during this dark and stormy time - RE: Revealations, DMC 4 Special Edition and Dragon's Dogma, most notably - but much of those gems were constantly smothered underneath a heaping pile of forgettable, Western-designed junk like DmC, Lost Planet 3 and RE6. And then we come to Dead Rising 4, which is essentially the DmC: Devil May Cry of Dead Rising games. It removed all of the challenge and appeal that the original, JP-developed title held. Oh yeah, and remember the ersatz Frank West in the game? He spouts out memes and things that date themselves quickly. "Thanks, Obama?" "Selfie?" Ugh. The original, Japan-developed Dead Rising will still be a gripping, atmospheric, innovative, appealing, challenging, and funny classic with tons of replayability in the next 30 to 55 years. But, in the year 2065, however, will anyone still remember Capcom Vancouver-developed Dead Rising 4? I truly doubt it. Capcom was successful and popular towards all kinds of gamers in past console generations and the first 3-4 years of the PS3/360 generation because it stuck to its status quo in terms of game development. By following Activision's high-reward/low-risk strategy and business model in the later years of the PS3/360 generation, Capcom themselves totally forgot to play the long game big time. It would take them until the middle of the current gen (PS4/XONE) to learn their errors of their ways that they created during the mid-twilight years of the PS3/360 gen, and now they're back to what they used to be, releasing games such as DMC5 and RE2 Remake. I could feel and see the same old good spark they had during the early years of the seventh generation of console gaming because of this. All in all, it's pretty disheartening to see Dead Rising, much like Devil May Cry and Resident Evil before it, get royally screwed over by Capcom's Western-developed obsession by trying to act like the Eastern Activision before finding its footing again. Another fantastic early 360/PS3 game retrospecive review, Sphere. Great job! :)
I remember when my roommate used to play this on a CRT, and we couldn't read any of the text. Also, I think I could listen to Sphere Hunter talk about anything, and I would listen with my full attention.
Great video as usual. Dead Rising is one of my all time favorite series and I'm glad they went with a more light hearted tone for it. I also had no clue you could spit! Now I feel like I missed out!
Genuinely happy to see that you're getting sponsored at a high level now. Always enjoy your videos, LOVE the games you review and you've introduced me to some I haven't played (e.g. Parasite Eve). Keep up the amazing work. I'm off to have a look at your Patreon page
Whenever I saw gameplay of this game it filled me with this sense of curiosity that always intrigued me on how what it would feel like playing this game since it felt (sorry if this sounds cheesy) like something I've never seen before. I was really young when it came out in the good old days of 2006. As well as discovering the franchise a year ago and not having enough money to buy it. So, I'm happy to say that I'm getting it soon. So, I might finally be able to have a hands on experience with Dead Rising. By the way, when I discovered both Dead Rising and your channel I've wondered how a video of yours on the game would be like. Glad to say, I finally found out. Thank You, Sphere Hunter.
Not cheesy at all. Before i owned dead rising way back when i saw gameplay of it and daydreamed all day about how it would play out. I was certain that we could explore the town proper lol.
"There is a ton of reading material in this game" Indeed there i- OH CRAP THE EVIDENCE!! "Thanks to Audible!" oh, thank god!! On a serious note, this channel is great. Well-researched topics with a relaxing voice and nicely done thumbnail art. It's all excellently done. Keep up the good work, Suzi!
I’ve played the ♾ mode in this game for so many hours!! I love it so much! It’s the only one I like tbh. I hated 2,3,4 for some reason. I also loved making my own difficulty in this game like Vegan only runs, melee only runs etc... so good!!!!
I recall reading about this game when I was in 4th grade back when this game was released. I felt so spooked by the description and the setting of the game. Trapped in a mall for 3 days with loads of undead, nothing can be worse then that. Man, I miss the days when things like this could invoke emotion of dread.
The part that I always find unsettling about Deadrising (and one of my favorite parts) is the mall music. It serves the same purpose that The Gonk did in Dawn of the Dead. The juxtaposition between the light cheery music and ultra violence always gets me
I played the demo for this on the 360 back when I was like 9 years old. Always wanted to play it properly, but I never did. This review made me buy the PS4 version and I'm currently loving it. Thanks for this video!
I'm so happy that you covered this game. I really loved this series. I remember when this game first came out I was so in awe with how many zombies were on screen at once.
There’s just something so infectiously awesome about Dead Rising. Also the fact that Yoshinori Kawano pulled a Robert Rodriguez and went from Mega Man Legends to Dead Rising, it’s pretty cool and funny lol
It's seems trivial now, but it really can't be overstated just how impressive it was at the time to have that many real time characters on screen at once.
So I just recently found your channel a few days ago and all I can say it, "Wow". Your reviews are fantastic, your editing is superb and you just seem like a rad person in all. This will definitely be possibly my favorite channel. Although I may not watch every video, as a huge RE fan I gotta say I'm extremely happy to see how smoothly you talk about the story and gameplay. A small thing that makes me smile is how when you're talking about something you really like about a certain game, we can tell you're smiling by the change of your tone. Thank you for being another awesome RE content creator, and I hope you make it huge!
You should totally do more videos like these!! Going back a generation or two to look at what made certain games so unique for their time, is something you make genuinely entertaining. Also, I’m surprised you never reviewed Cathrine:Full Body. I figured that would be your cup of tea. If you’ve never played it, I highly recommend in doing so! I’d dig hearing your take on the game.
You just earned a sub and a bell for spitting the final boss to death. Seriously.. that gave me a hearty chuckle. This video takes me back. I gave up on some tasks in this game. Getting all survivors, the population kill count, answering Otis every time. These all took a backseat to the struggle of trying to read the text on my old, standard-def CRT television, finding scantily clad zombies to photograph for the erotic PP bonus (which was absurdly amusing), and making zombies slip on cooking oil. Okay, those last two weren't a struggle, but playing this without HD was a squintfest. The old lady with the dog initiating the onslaught of mall occupants was all too real for me and made my blood boil.
I remember when I first played this game I got my neck snapped by the final boss immediately, then accidentally clicked save. Meaning that was my ending as far as the game was concerned and there was nothing I could do about it haha.
Great video. I have very fond memories with this game. We were 18 or 19 that summer, and my friend and I (RIP buddy) went to Gamestop. The dude behind the counter asks him "you guys want to pre-order Dead Rising? It's a game where you're trapped in a huge mall with zombies and everything is a weapon." He looks at me and back at him "hell yes I want to order Dead Rising!" We were not disappointed. The maniacal, side splitting laughter we had was priceless. Any time one or both of us had free time, we played it. I still remember when we had been playing it half an hour and he goes "are you hearing this dumbass music???" and we about died laughing. I also met my first real girlfriend that summer, and those memories among others comingle with this game for me. I ended up completing it, which is honestly something I rarely do. Fully leveled, saved all the survivors at least once, and then uncovered the truth. It was so fun to go back thru with the Mega Buster and humiliate the bosses. Playing this, we finally red ringed his early Xbox 360 the following February. Such good times with this game, so many memories. All I can do is smile at this.
The spoiler warning and time skip option was a great addition to this video. It addresses basically my ONLY qualm with your content. Keep up the great work!!
What a fantastic video! I love this game so much. The time element is actually one of the things I think makes it so great. Having to make decisions about what you want to do if you want to uncover the truth, not being able to do it all, when most open world games now let you take all the time you want, is still such a breath of fresh air.
Suzie likes Dead Rising 😊 Incredible game! I worked in a game shop when it came out and the excitement and sales were surprisingly huge... Like a new GTA or Eldar Scrolls. When I finally got a 360, this was my first game and I devoured everything 100% - 7 day survivor included. The juxtaposed brutal and absurd tone is really special and the level of content and attention to detail is still impressive. Really happy memories and it's still in my personal top ten of all time
I love Dead Rising so much and I happy that Sphere Hunter loves the series too cause when the first one came out I’ve played it none stop and I’ve been faithful to the series ever since and Dead Rising 4 may have lost its way from what made the franchise amazing but rest assured, I believe Capcom is not done with the series at least not yet and with their new RE Engine, the next Dead Rising title (if there is another one) will take the series to the next level hopefully.
I used to hate the timer but grew to love it sometimes it’s real intense when your seconds away from losing a case but complete it by the skin of your teeth
You've been on fire lately! I actually never looked into Dead Rising because I didn't have a console to play it and honestly just thought it was, like you said, a silly zombie game where that showcased the tech of tons of NPCs on screen simultaneously. Learning that there is a compelling story and depth to be found is really cool, I'll have to play this some time! Really looking forward to more from you, especially after that teaser!
I swear, we may as well be the same person considering our thoughts on a lot of games. Dead Rising is easily one of my all time favorites. Hell, I'd even say the 360 original is still worth playing. The load times are definitely longer but have been patched to be shortened a bit at least. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the most underrated credits song ever in Justified?
Another great video. I love it! I remember getting a 360 and 5 games which included this along with Kane & Lynch, Halo 3, GTA IV, and Army of Two. While I spent a considerable amount of time with Halo 3, I played and replayed DR to death. Even after trying to get into the other games in my early library which included the revered GTA IV, I STILL came back to DR. Here was a game where I truly felt I could go anywhere and do anything. Also worth noting, if you had a standard tube TV (which I had for the first few months that I owned a 360), you couldn't make out the text in the game which, outside of trying to figure out what ingredients made what drink, wasn't too much of an issue. That aside, the secondary attacks, the photo taking, the pick up virtually anything and use it as a weapon, the abilities you gained, the strategies if you wanted to save everyone (I managed to do this once) and the loads of zombies on screen, yeah, this game was awesome. I played DR2 and...I dunno. It lost some magic with me. I think it was the whole combining weapons or the fact that I got the good ending in my first play through, it just didn't grab me as much. Not saying it was bad, but yeah. I still preferred the first one.
I just noticed that a bunch of my favourite games have a time limit in some way. Bully, Majora's Mask, Persona, Dead Rising, Outer Wilds, and probably more. When a time limit is implemented well and suits the story, it makes games so much more exciting, I love the planning it involves.
In the beginning, I was one of these players that saw only the silly site of the game. I have fun memories playing it with my cousin and doing so many silly things to kill the zombies and never got around the story parts of the game. To hear that the Lvl-system is rewarding players the more they play is something cool and having so many quests is not my favorite part but I now understand why it was put into the game. Thanks for another great video and as for most of your videos, I will give this game another chance. Amazing work Sue and can´t wait for RE0 and Silent Hill videos.
Sorry if my comment came off as rude or that I was actually upset. The only thing I meant was I enjoy you genuine excitement for the game. saying you don’t want to spoil it while I just clicked on a video of you explaining the game and story makes me smile. Sorry again. I do actually like your videos.
Sphere Hunter, I really enjoy your presentation in your videos. You speak with passion, and your points are very well thought out. The "trailers" at the end of your videos are some of my favorites, despite some of them being made already! It gets me excited to watch more of your stuff. Thanks for all the quality content.
Product placement placement was excellent! Once again, great vid. Love the history lesson tied with your own perspective. Looking forward to the rest of the Dead Rising games if those vids are part of the plan!
Dead Rising is one of those great examples of Japanese creativity. When the west keeps making generic zombie shooters Capcom makes a goofy, but still thought provoking 3rd person action adventure with RPG elements in which you can skill zombies with any item you can get your hands on including food or plants and outfit the protagonist in child's clothes just because. As we've seen from Dead Rising 4, west tries to emulate Japanese creativity, but they just can't do it right.
Even better was that DR1 was released during the very promising early years of the PS3/360 generation for Capcom. DR was a new IP they made, and as such it was a big gamble. Ultimately, it was successful in the end.
Year late but the writers actually beat you to this pun lol. Apparently they wrote some in-universe research notes on the wasps at some point and put them up somewhere, and within them Dr. Barnaby remarks on his co-workers calling them zombees.
The one thing I didn't like from this game was how a bit short it was. This has to be my favorite zombie game as well. Thanks for visiting this beautiful game, Sphere. 👌
It's cause the game was meant to be played more than once. There are things you can skip and lots of secrets to discover. I feel like with dead rising 1 and 2 (haven't played 3) the game gets better with each run.

Frank *HAS* covered wars, you know?
One thing it does very well is construct a sense of place.

I remember Dead Rising 2 being disappointing after realizing how short one of the late phases was.
@Ball Weevil The Forge Engine of DR 2-4 will forever be unsupported, But Dead Rising 1 still has it's main MT Framework architects in place.

L
😊😊😊
yOU SOUNDED SO PROUD WHEN YOU MANAGED TO THROW THAT ADD IN THERE RELEVANTLY
I laughed out loud at that. "Frank can finally do that" sounds like she wants to laugh at her own tie-in, and I think that's great.
Till this very day I still say “FAN-TASTIC!” Every time I take a picture.
As much as I love this series, I have one large complaint. How does an old lady manage to take down a fortified barricade while men attempt to stop her? That lady's either very strong, or those men are very weak.
Old ladies with dementia are some of the strongest people on the planet 😬😬😬
People also love their dogs, too. People have fought kangaroos, alligators, and even mountain lions and bears for their dogs. As dumb ass as she was for opening that barrier, I'm not surprised she found the adrenaline to do it. I thought the first thing at first when I first saw it, but nah it makes sense, in a way.
Remember to kill dumb people like that during the Zombie Apocalpyse

@@tricksfollies9549 I can't believe you called the Servbot head a lego head, I am personally offended.

It's a shame they absolutely destroyed this franchise with 4. Frank West is one of my favorite Capcom characters.

The fact that the 360 was able to handle that many zombies on screen at once was amazing and the boss fights were unique.
I forget. Has Suzi covered any wars?
Formless Odyssey the war against Umbrella!
The Sphere Hunter Ah, yes. The only war that truly matters!
The spoiler warning and time skip option was a great addition to this video. It addresses basically my ONLY qualm with your content. Keep up the great work!!
“I’ve covered wars ya know.”
That's nice...but I've fought in them.

@@QuartzIsAnOxide 😞???? Idk what you're getting at but that was a reference to the death battle between Frank and Leon Kennedy where this was said.
@@katherinedickerson2334 shit, I didn't know xD
@@QuartzIsAnOxide It's all good. I just didn't understand what you were saying. I recommend watching the deatj battle it's pretty good.
What a fantastic video! I love this game so much. The time element is actually one of the things I think makes it so great. Having to make decisions about what you want to do if you want to uncover the truth, not being able to do it all, when most open world games now let you take all the time you want, is still such a breath of fresh air.
I sort of missed this generation of gaming. This video has convinced me to give Dead Rising a try. Thanks!~
I haven’t even watched it yet but thank you so much for making a video of Dead Rising in 2019
You've been on fire lately!
It’s really surprising how this game holds up. Capcom knows how to make quality games.
Just thought I'd stop by and say happy Halloween to you Suzi and to anybody who reads this comment, have a absolutely fantastic day.
you to
Another great video.
Up until now, I can never forget the fact that I know the name of the artist who drew Sphere Hunter's channel avatar
Dross has strong character design.
I just noticed that a bunch of my favourite games have a time limit in some way. Bully, Majora's Mask, Persona, Dead Rising, Outer Wilds, and probably more. When a time limit is implemented well and suits the story, it makes games so much more exciting, I love the planning it involves.
Shenmue, and Deadly Premonition had Time Limits as well.
Oh that's true, good point.
'gone guru' will always give me anxiety
Gives me ptsd now
In the beginning, I was one of these players that saw only the silly site of the game.
“I don’t want to spoil the game but..*spoils a part of a game*”
God I love this channel.
To be fair, dead rising has been out for a LONG time
Air Bo i put a timestamp on the screen that you can use to skip all story spoilers in this video.
Sorry if my comment came off as rude or that I was actually upset. The only thing I meant was I enjoy you genuine excitement for the game. saying you don’t want to spoil it while I just clicked on a video of you explaining the game and story makes me smile. Sorry again. I do actually like your videos.
Of course the one time I get a response from a content creator I like has to be from a comment like this
Big oof
@@airbo5104 Oh no problem, I just thought you missed the timestamp.
Sphere Hunter, I really enjoy your presentation in your videos. You speak with passion, and your points are very well thought out. The "trailers" at the end of your videos are some of my favorites, despite some of them being made already! It gets me excited to watch more of your stuff. Thanks for all the quality content.
When you think about it, the first Dead Rising was basically a triple-A rouge-lite.
Damn straight, classic game.
That smooth add transition though...oof. I'm in love...with...audible...of course. Really enjoyed the insight and content. Thanks.
So you’re telling me that the virus is transmitted by...zombees?
Badumtssss get it? Zombies. Zom bees?

The old rim shot. Easy there, Dangerfield. The world can only take so much humor all at once
@@Dribin You're actually right. The better you got, the stronger you became, and then you felt like an actual veteran. By the way, 3 was a stellar experience. I recommend it with a friend, honestly.
Best damn sponsorship segue I've ever seen in a TH-cam video.
That was smoooooooooooth
Fantastic game overview! This is SO much more worth watching that about any 30-minute show on TV. Thank you for your hard work to put this together!
