- The Spartan balancing for this op was meant to be so that we could eat a few more bullets than the regular Marines, but it turns out that the Innies weapons were way better against us than the Covvies. Made for a weird little op, but we got a lot more Spartan-y once we started fighting aliens.

What unit/clan is this?

@@Alex-wm8hx Spartan II candidates were kidnapped at a young age (average of 6 years old) and were replaced by a flash clone which would die shortly after. It is rare for a Spartan to have known who their parents are or were.
Additionally, most if not all Spartans see Dr. Halsey (creator of the Spartan program) as their mother.

Sadly they didnt even have to do that. By the time S III program started there's plenty of orphan kids with xenopobhia and anger issues

@@granoonis2080 it's the code phrase for "The Covenant are here, every other strategic and tactical consideration is now secondary to planetary defence." More often than not, it meant the death knell of a world, given how The Covenant pretty much always had orbital supremacy. The UNSC usually at least had a fighting chance on the ground, but once The Covenant capital ships opened up with the glassing beams, it was game over.

As the pilot of the pelican
It was definitely, not my fault........most of the time..
Remember that supply pods have physics, and will interact with your aircraft. It's best to stay level when dropping stuff off. Also don't drop stuff off while landed. Pods/Vics will do a little 'bounce' and then bounce straight into your aircraft causing an arma. Best to drop the stuff off and then land.
When I tell you I busted a gut at the Chief skate boarding cut away.

Pelicans really are cursed in Halo. I'd rather try hijacking a Phantom than ride in one of those death traps.
Really nice op, UNSC and Insurrectionists fighting together against the Covenant. Rimmy leading his own Red Team was amazing. Perfect operation when you don't take into consideration how they lost more Pelicans to random occurrences than the enemy destroyed.

I understand why Warhammer 40k content isnt happening. I still miss it. This however itches that scratch. Great content, great choice of music. That Halo 2 music always conjures feels.

Ignis’ aviation wing took a perfectly pelican and put it through enough stress that it’s a large sneeze away from exploding.

The ironic thing about the Pelicans blowing up over and over again is similar to all of the problems the U.S military has faced with the V-22 Osprey. They tend to fall out of the sky as well
And the US military shouldn’t be surprised as the V-22 had the same issues it still faces while in testing. But this isn’t surprising as Boeing quality control has gone to shite ever since they merged with McDonald Douglas and shifted their focus from safety in engineering to profits no matter what (Ya know the whole reason why McDonald Douglas got merged to begin with their shite wasn’t safe)
Honestly their safety rate is actually better than most other helicopters in class. It's just bad PR.

Yup. That's me. You're probably wondering how I got myself in this situation.
Well, my SL called out Ghosts on the road ahead, so like a good little AT man, I pulled out my Spanker and started running across the street to my SL as I couldn't see them.
That's when the Pelican took a hit from Covvie ack-ack, and in a panicked attempt to keep stable flight jettisoned their gausshog cargo directly above my head.
It of course landed on me.
My SL pulled me out, but I was in a bad way. They dragged me to the rear and threw me on the evac Pelican, and then I spent the next 18 months in traction and rehab for a spine broken in 3 places that left me paralyzed, both legs broken a total of five times, an arm broken in two, and a severe concussion that I still see bright spots in my vision from.
But I made it out of that hellhole. There's plenty of my platoon that didn't.

The factory that produced this batch of pelicans seems to have been under the mistaken belief that they were producing aerially deployed cover.

Giving me spontaneous combustion PTSD from flying pelicans for my unit...
I don't think I exploded that much though. Some are avoidable, some aren't. Maybe one or two at most in ops. Always the poor pilot gets blamed for corners cut in aviation safety :) There's also that fun bug where the pelican goes straight up to orbit at insane speeds, and goes into an uncontrollable nosedive immediately after.
Another fun one was carrying a HEMMT truck via ropes at low alt. The truck suddenly became an immovable object and a pivot point for the pelican- pointing me straight at the ground. I managed to unhook the ropes and pull up just in time to scoot under some power lines.

Yeah railguns are more of a complement to standard HE guns than a replacement. Since while railguns can achieve much higher velocity and penetration they don't have the necessary high explosive splash to take out groups of infantry or MG/ATGM emplacements. What I think we'll eventually get is a dual barrel system like on the Russian BMP-3 where there is both a 30mm autocannon and 100mm gun, but in 40-100 years the autocannon will be replaced with a railgun designed to take down AFVs.

Being controlled by a actual player with human brain makes even UNSC marines equal to Titanfall pilots compared to AI.
That's why almost all assymetric multiplayer modes are always doomed from the start. What's that? You've made a mode where 3-5 Jackals/Marines fight 1 Spartan/Elite? No, you've made a bully mode where one supersoldier has to play grenade volleyball peekaboo with a bunch of other people😅
