Man I'd forgotten how much fun Anbennar is. Even with EU4 being my least favourite of the Paradox games, I still love playing Anbennar. The detail put into the mod is second to none and the very concept is just such a cool idea, similar to how I enjoy Shadowrun's future mix of fantasy and tech.

Hello! One of the many contributors to Anbennar here. Glad to see one of my favorite content creators making a video on the mod. A lot of work's been done as of late by wonderful people to fill in the last blank spots on the map, rework existing content (Like the artificery system, which has gotten a huge facelift!), and adding a ton of flavor in the form of events, government reforms, and mission trees!
They'll be a major update for the mod in early June, for anyone interested!

The artificery system in the mod just got a big rework, so now you can actually use all those fun inventions :^)

When I saw Rimmy recruiting the 4 regiments needed for that first mission from his own manpower, I knew he would struggle in conquering them without help. Kobold culture in Annbenar gives a big boost to hostile attrition. So manpower can easily be depleted without relying on mercs.
The best start for Nimscodd is to recruit a 4 regiment merc company to complete the mission and get a bunch of claims, attack and annex Redscale, at the same time attack and annex the Greenscale, and finally hire more mercs to attack the Bluescale and take enough land that nobody else is neighboring them. All of that in about 5 years.
Also he keeps using full army stacks to occupy and siege instead of sending small split off groups to minimize attrition they take. No wonder the gnome army needs mercenaries to replace their numbers.

@@parrot1442 Basically in Anbennar the equivalent of america is called "Aelantir" and it's the origin of the elves (is more complicated than that but i'll make it fast) but they had to leave it after a giant disaster that destroyed their empire.
Venail mission tree is about going back and recolonize their former land and reclaim their empire forming "Aelnar" and once they have done it they become THE most xenophobic country in the game where every single species is Purged (mechanic unique to the mod) and only the new star elves are allowed to live.
The dev also said that in the lore half elves are always a minority of the population because the "human half" is dominant and with passing generations you basically get a human (basically half+half=human and never elf).
A guy on the sub did 2+2 and noticed that this lore element basically meant that Aelnar behaviour was justified because with this setting any population of elves that lives with humans as equals is doomed to disappear over time and he asked if it was intentional by the developer or if he was just thinking too much about it.
The mod permanently banned him after 20 minutes with no explanation despite the fact that he didn't violate a single rule.

no shit it was deliberate. getting immediately banned for asking the question stinks, but if someone is going to put something like that in a game and try and reason it as being scientifically justified, do you really think they want people to point out what they've done?

My only contact of Vtubers is through your videos and each time I encounter them I am just ... confused about their whole existence. To me, it's just sometimes the Australian man from the internet interacts with 2D doll people.
Vtubers get both a buff to anonymity from doxxing and the ability to craft a whole persona separate from IRL appearances, among other things.
@@LockonKubi Yeah, but sometimes the high-pitched voices of some of the Vtubers just feel uncanny, Vtubers who just use the avatars as just a medium for facial expression, rather than their entire online persona, are significantly more natural. Like Whiskey in Rimmy's vids, she has an accent and doesn't have an unnaturally high voice.

Vtubers are good for anonymity, and for those who want to have an outward appearance for their chat, but don't feel comfortable with face cam. Lots of them are literally just using them as stand ins for face cam while they play games and stuff.
I don't think vtubers understand our own existence either

As a gnome one should never build tall… instead you should build wide to fit more kobold heads on pikes
But a tall tower can make kobold heads on pikes more visible from afar and above, as a warning to dragons!

@@maxthepaladin true, a building can only be as strong as the foundation enables. But a tall enough tower will send a message to any flying foes that even the skies are not out of our reach!

They came for them. The Dawg, the Father of the Heaven, a Badger of East European origin, even a Raptor that can solve a rubik's cube. Now the beings made of Virtual Tubes took the lad from Down Under, dragging him further deep into the rabbit's hole (of EU4).

If you ever play Anbennar again, I'd suggesting playing as the ORder of te Iron Sceptre in Escann (the big empty area), they become ruled by a lich queen dommy mommy who makes people pay taxes or end up having their souls enslaved to work in the mines after death :)

Anbennar may legitimately be one of the most detailed, flavourful, replayable, and *fun*, grand strategy games that I have played in over a decade.
