Clears really should hit the corners? As far as I know, advanced players don't use the corner as it gives the vulnerability for straight smash next to the line which is easier than an angled smash. They use one step to the middle from the corners. Am I wrong?

I don't think that is the case even though if you show drive, feet movement, body position everything is important. Suppose if you want to show smash do you agree just using hands to hit smash.
