    Thank you so much, my 3yr old son keeps asking for a skateboard and I'm a single mom, and I don't know how to even begin to teach him how to skateboard so this is a huge help. At least we have some idea now.

    I personally know dudes who started skating at 42. Look up a guy named Lloyd Kahn. He started skateboarding at 65. 20 is still a kid. Get out there and have fun!

    Your videos have inspired me to have a crack at pools/bowls. Last night I dropped in on a sort-of mini/vert ramp (at least, close to vert) for the first time. It took me what felt like a lifetime standing at the top looking down (I know that's a bad thing..) but then I did it and got an axle stall straight up! Got myself a Caballero Fishtail Re-issue tonight, can't wait!
    Thank you! =D

    I personally know people who didn't start skateboarding until the age of 42. Longboarding has become very popular among the college crowd, so lots of people starting that are in their 20s. You may think 18 is too old, but 18 is still a little kid.

  • @bilsrylos
    @bilsrylos 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Its actually cool that you are starting out now, alot of the better skaters are around your age, and you can mingle with them alot easier and theyll be more willing to help you, let you ride with them etc. I started longboarding last year (when I was 16) and thought the same thing, then I found some really cool guys at my highschool who were into it, and they helped me out.

    I've been wanting to learn to skate since I was little. These videos are awesome and informative, where most info-based pages or videos are very lacking, this hasn't left me saying "What about this piece?"

      Thank you very much. That was the whole point. As I have said at other times, I made these videos for people who actually ENJOY learning and being educated. Sadly, the world is filled with lots of idiots who prefer to remain idiots. This is for the few who like to gain some knowledge. Glad to see you're one of the smart ones.

    That's an excellent question. No, the baseplates do not come in different sizes, however they can have three possible hole patterns:
    1. New school.
    2. Old school.
    3. New school/old school together (like the ones shown at 15:50)
    The bolt holes must be the same as the ones on your board.

    @dgwbleu - Sprains can be very mild or very severe. Taking months to heal is not unusual for a severe sprain. I'd suggest you talk to your doctor and have it examined to determine if there are other problems, such as a slight dislocation.

    @nirmanyu97 - What kind of skateboarding are you interested in? Asking if you should get a longboard or a shortboard is like asking if you should get a sportscar or an SUV - they are quite different, yet both serve their purpose. Either one might be appropriate. All depends on how you plan on using a skateboard.

  • @LearnToSkateboard
    @LearnToSkateboard  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @hypertech35 - No, you are not too old to learn how to skate. I started skating when I was 16. I know a guy who started skating when he was 42. A guy named Lloyd Kahn started a blog about longboarding - he started riding when he was 65 years old.

    If you think skateboarding looks fun and are refraining urself from getting on one because of the age. I say GO SKATE!

  • @LearnToSkateboard

    This video kind of covers it. The biggest tip is to get your board from a quality skateshop. Don't get a board at a sporting goods store or a big chain store. A legitimate skateshop can help you out and answer your questions and set up something that works well for you. if you don't know where good skateshops are near you, just look up "skateshop" in your city on Google.
