If you or your kids are new to skateboarding - or maybe you're having a hard time explaining to Grandma why buying only the deck just isn't going to cut it - this video is for you. Jarvis walks you through some skateboarding basics and describes the anatomy of a complete skateboard.
Jarv covers the basic details of a skateboard deck, including concave, nose, tail, mounting holes and griptape placement. He breaks down and reassembles a skateboard truck, demonstrating how to identify the baseplate, mounting holes, pivot cup, kingpin, kingpin nut, bushings, washers, hanger, axle and axle nuts. He shows how and where to place bearings into your skate wheels and then how those wheels mount to your trucks. By the end of this video, you'll understand the basic anatomy of a complete skateboard.

I’ve had decks that have had the writing on the horizontal graphics in different directions as far as being both nose to tail and tail to nose. I can visually tell which is the nose and the tail, but the whole thing with the graphics made me keep second guessing myself, so this video with the exact measurements really helped give me peace of mind in what I already knew.

Thanks for the exact explanation about the difference between nose and tail. I had a feeling I had the right sides but in the end I guess it doesn't matter a whole lot. Now I can label my board accordingly.

Finn the nose is the side th at faces forward. The tail is what u pop with.

Are the "pivot cups" replaceable? Mine get worn out over time and then the board trends to slant when I'm on it. I hate having to wait and buy new trucks just to get that "level" feel again.

Does hardware come with the trucks or do you purchase it separately
Hardware is separate.
Is the nose also narrower cause my the longer steeper part of my board aka nose is also narrower
is there a specific size board per size feet... like if you have small feet you'll need a small board or no?
totally! if you wear a 7 an 8.5 might be overkill, 7.9-8.1 might work better for you. But it's all up to personal taste!

I was skating my Board wrong(Tail and nose switched) for years and even when someone told me i was so used to it that i wont change a thing. My Question is why are there differences to begin with and why is the nose bigger?
I've skated the nose as the tail as well and have gotten super used to it lol...just got a new board and am gonna try it out the supposed right way? See how it feels. Apparently, you want the nose to be bigger so that it can catch your foot when you kick it to do an ollie et cetera. And the tail is smaller and slightly closer to the ground for more pop and such. But not all boards have a nose or a tail designated sometimes they have the same dimensions and i'm sure there are custom decks out there who call the bigger end the tail so...fuck it do what works for you
Do you ride with the nose on the back or front? I'm barely starting to skate so just trying to get any advice i can

How can I tell which side is the tail and which is the nose when I’m standing on my board. Like is there an easy way I can quickly tell without getting eye level or using a tape measure??
Some people will add a colored bolt to the front or make a line in their griptape on the tail end. Otherwise, the nose is generally slightly longer than the tail, which you will get a feel for the more you skate.

Not sure how that would be possible. Is it tilted so it turns more to the right? Or is the whole piece shifted to one side?

@@gambiiic Sounds like the bushings need breaking in. Which is totally normal with a new setup. Basically the more you ride it, the more the bushings will break in and straighten out. Until then, when your weight is in the board it shouldn't be affected by the tight bushings.

GeekerDeed It depends..... If you are goofy and riding regular that's fakie, if you are regular and riding goofy it's fakie. I guess that might have helped

+Barak Levy 32 inches usually and it can be from 7.5 all the way to 9 inches wide, but 7.75, 8, and 8.25 are preferred sizes.
