My weight and physical condition always prevented it. Now that I’m down to a reasonable weight, I want to scratch Skateboarding off the bucket list. I just want to ride and turn properly. This video has given me the confidence to try it.. I went to Target, bought a board, made a few adjustments, and started pushing. Today was my first day and I was able to ride and push with confidence after an hour of practice.. I managed to check this off my bucket list and you are a big reason why. Thanks.
Getting back into skating at 48 years old and it is terrifying! Just discovered Braille, and I've got to say how awesome and helpful this content is. Huge thanks to Aaron and the crew!
This is the sign I needed to pick up a board again after 35 years! As a 50 yo woman it’s a bit scary but a year ago I started snowboarding and it changed my life, and had been thinking about what to do in the off season and this is the answer. So stoked to get started!
turning 35 in a couple weeks - always wanted to learn to skateboard but my family was very against it. Picking up my first board next week and gonna finally do it. I lost 130 lbs over the last year from just getting out and doing stuff, so I'm still a hefty dude, but watching the vids has given me confidence and I think this can help a lot with me getting out and around the town more, too. If you got any tips for a big dude, let me know. I'll try to remember to post an update. Update: Have had a lot going on but still have practiced a few more times! I have a physical trainer who I work out with now and then and we both think I lost a lot of muscle mass in my knees and hips/back while I was really out of shape. Because of that, it's still REALLY hard for me to balance at all on the board. I've taken a few spills, can get both feet on now and then but mostly I kinda just shamble along with one leg on the board trying to push. I've started working out and doing squats with weights along with riding a bike I got (lmao i bought a bike so I could take my skateboard further out from the city to practice without as many people) and the bike has been helping a TON with rebuilding those muscles. So - it's still a work in progress. I haven't given up, I've taken some rough falls, I'm still alive and still not really doing great but not practicing a lot, too. And since I'm also trying to rebuild my health, it's just slow. Hopefully I'll have a better update, soon!
@@Nikita-ec4by I'm still working on it! Had my first roughish fall not too long ago and it wasn't bad. Still can't balance on the board for the life of me, unfortunately. I just keep plugging away when I can, though I don't have a ton of time lately that I can use to travel to the skatepark or a safe road (I live in the city and don't have a car) so it's taking a while. But I'm not giving up!
Thanks a ton for these videos! Im 32, and ive always wanted to get into this, but never quite knew where to start. Now i feel like I actually understood the mechanics behind this sport better
Thank you for keeping these videos going, I'm 36yo and I just picked up a skateboard for the first time in my life this week. Your videos have all the encouragement and tips to help me feel like I'm not going alone and unprepared. Going to make it for the first 30 days (and longer most likely) because of Aaron and Braille!
I'm a teacher and I can't tell you how much joy this brought me 😭 This is so genuine, concise and wonderfully edited. Thank you so much for putting this together to help others!
Thank you for making this video. I'm in my 30s and I haven't skated in over 15 years. I have a 11 year old and a 3 year old and we are all learning the basics together. Thanks for this video! 🛹
Aaron and everyone at Braille, you guys are legends..! I'm 25 and somewhat overweight, i recently started playing thug2 for nostalgia's sake and you guys popped up on the related videos. Long story short: Now i own a board, helmet and pads and can't wait to go to the park to learn everyday. Thank you so much, no cap i'm having this life-changing feeling through out, i'm actually touching grass and overcoming anxiety♥
Recently recovering from a broken leg, I think going through these basics while i learn to walk again will help me learn to ride again also. Thanks Aaron!!
Whoever has been editing your featured content as of late has been doing an excellent job. Great transitions, B-roll is quality, and the animated graphics are well done. Keep it up!!!
I’ve only skated a little bit and I’m just now getting into it at 25 and I’m stoked. I never had anywhere to ride where I grew up but I recently moved and there’s tons of spots and a park. Just watching the first 10 mins made me realize just the little things I did wrong that made it hard for me to skate. You earned another sub just from 10 mins! Thank you so much for this helpful info man and all the time and effort you put into these vids
Yo Aaron I’m a 40 yr old musician with Cerebral Palsy, I was in awe of skateboarding when I was younger, but never got down the basics, cause my balance point can be considered a zero at times. All I ever wanted to achieve was to be able to push and ride around. Your boot camp video gave me the confidence to try again, gonna get a board thick hoodie and jeans and hit my parking lot, keep you posted. 🤘🏻💀🤘🏻
@@gabrielgarcia1187 I actually had to sideline skating for a minute, I blew out my hip bowling in league, so I gotta wait till I''m healed., Thank You for the encouragement!
Oh...this bootcamp is gonna be tough. I think an ollie will always be out of reach for me. But I will start with an advantage in episode 1, as I have begun skateboarding 3 years ago. Everything I will learn along the way is a plus in my book! The hardest will be to skateboard every day, as it is winter over here.
started working on my ollie after a year, it's been a few months and sometimes i can do a rolling ollie now lol. When i first started it it just practiced stationary ollies on my garage for like half an hour, it's more of a slow progression than anything
I had ACL knee surgery a year ago and I try to learn skateboarding now at 25.. your breaking it into small steps really helps with the fear … great video. You guys are really comforting.
im 16 and for every summer since i was 12 I told myself id learn how to skateboard. it became a tradition for me to pick it up for a day and leave it for another year. its winter 2024 now and i picked up my rusted 4 year old skateboard and have been learning for a week straight. This series really helped me get me out of my slump! (Can i even call it that LOL I never actually learned how to skate) I feel myself improving and hopefully I can keep this up until Christmas so I can ask for a new skateboard. thanks for making this series, really helped me find my love for skateboarding again
Hey Aaron, thank you so so much for the bootcamp videos! I'm a 34y old heavy guy and thought skating would always be out of reach, but you and Braille got me on a board for real for the first time today, and I can't wait for tomorrow to hit the park again. Still feeling wobbly so I'll go over the walking and step-on for ever I guess, but I even landed a popcorn on my first day, felt awesome!
Hey Braille im 42 next month just started skating yesterday, your videos are an inspiration for me. Thank you looking forward to many years of skateboarding ahead. Cheers
My 11 year old had been enjoying your channel, so I shared this video with him a few weeks ago. He saw a skateboard in the store a few weeks ago, and told my husband he wanted one. He got a skateboard for his 12th birthday a few days ago. I'd been working on learning to ride a ripstick, but broke down and went and bought a skateboard for myself, as my ripstick progress has been close to a snails pace. Spent 30 minutes skateboarding tonight, and I love it! Very fun! Many thanks!!!
I remember watching tutorials from Braille and I lost the tutorials and never started skating (except for one time but eh) that was like 6ish or something years ago. I wanted to start again so I'm so excited to rediscover this TH-cam channel and to get a board. Edit: Looking back at the old playlists on this channel, I FOUND IT! It was not 6 years it was 8!!! omg im so old q.q
Thanks, I'm now 37 trying to do little bit of skateboarding or longboarding because my son has interest in it. I feel really silly bmx was more my pace but I wanna share a hobby with my boy and let him see me learn along with him.
I've been wanting to learn to skate for like 2-3 years now? I recently landed a part in an audition for a skater guy, so this is super helpful in my endeavors to learn how. Thanks man!
Aaron thank you so much. Each year I tell myself that it's the year I start skateboarding but each year I get a little further. This really helps and I just wish I had a group to learn with rather than alone. Keep it up.
Took my son for his first skateboarding today and he nailed it and he's inspired me to get myself on a board and try it as well. Thought I'd be too old to start haha Looking forward giving these a try with the laddo!
I love seeing another person sharing their love for their art.... Love watching these all videos.... Been on a board for years, and even watching something like this makes my heart glow..... Hope the best for every beginner out there just looking for that little bit to get started...
Its so perfect that i found this video, just after hopping on the board for the first time in my life. Hopefully i'll be able to improve, but its already so fun to reach each little win
I'm 37, and have played Tony Hawk since the 1st one came out on the PS1. For some reason I have never tried to practice skateboarding in real life. It could be midlife crisis getting to me but I'm really keen to start now. It's never too late. One day I'll be 70 or 80 and will be regretting all the things I didn't do or try out! Wish me luck on my journey! Also because buying a Porsche for the midlife crisis was not a possibility :)
Not gonna lie I'm 23 y/o and I was so scared of skating until I saw your videos. Just got my first board a day ago and started practicing right away after watching what to do. Making progress in getting more comfy with the board feels amazing!
Let's go!!! It's videos like this that make me appreciate Braille. Aaron says he wants to get everyone on a skateboard and he really means it. These very beginning steps into skateboarding are so valuable. I'm looking forward to this whole series as a resource for people who want to get started. 👍
@@brailleskateboarding Since I hurt both of my ankles last year, I’m just working on balancing progression with being able to skate at my age. I was starting to chase after each of the heelflips and kickflips. I would love to land at least 1 of each of them someday.
I’m 33 and just bought my first board last night. Excited to watch all of these! Last night it felt super scary on the board, but I’ve already noticed some improvement today!
Only to let you know, I started to follow you and this series a couple weeks ago. After the first video I was able to ride my skateboard and I am getting really comfortable. Soon I’ll jump to the second video! Thank you so much for this wonderful boot camp
Just got my first complete from you guys waiting for it to arrive in the mail next week, havent "skated"(I was pretty bad) since i was 15, been super hooked on skating now 6 years later, let's get it
My toddler has been interested in skateboarding so much that he refuses to get off of the board unless we ride for a bit...even in the rain. These are perfect for me to get back into so I can teach him and skate with him can't wait to do my first kick flip just landed my first Ollie.
This is already geared up to be better than Skateboarding Made Simple! So excited for these more recent modern Aaron videos!!!! I just picked up skating a few months ago thanks to Braille :)
I'm 29 and haven't skated since I was 15 but just ordered a new board after watching like all of yours and Jonny Giger's vids. Never even managed to get an Ollie down properly back then, and now I weigh about 30lbs more haha. Wish me luck ✌️😂
I've felt like my progression slowed, I remember watching other boot camp videos but I thought, maybe there's something I'm missing in video one. The shoulder movement from 180 kick turns just turned my skids, into powerslides. Thanks for posting this for free and helping everyone have an opportunity to learn something new
Thanks! Im not totally sure what you mean but if you want more personal coaching sign up for Braille Army plus and message Aaron on the members only discord server. He will help you with your progression
Bought my first skateboard yesterday, finally getting into skating at the age of 30. Now I just have to find the confidence to get out there, and find a secluded spot to get my basics down. I've been binge-watching your vids the last week, and my first long-term goal is to be able to land a kickflip. Thank you for your thorough explanations Aaron!
@@dallaswiginton That's awesome! I'm still working on my tic tacs, crabwalk etc every time I'm going to skate. Starting to feel comfortable riding around. Trying to get the hang of shove-it and ollie and having loads of fun!
I’m 27 and went to the skatepark today for the first time… with a pennyboard because I always wanted to try it out. So not it lol. Came home, decided to buy a board and haven’t been able to stop watching these videos. Thank you so much for boosting up my confidence. 🤙🏼
I'm 44 years old. I started skateboarding about 6 years ago because my 4 year old son wanted to play skateboard. So I had to play with him. But my skateboarding skills haven't progressed to this day I still can't do the Ollie 😭. Until I found your clip a few days ago. It gave me step-by-step method for learning skateboarding skills that was sure to challenge my abilities in 10 weeks. Today I started the first day with ep1. I have 2 final tips left that I haven‘t finished yet. In 6 more days I will update you again. Thank you very much.
I love this series so much! I’m a 26 year old female and have just started skating and this has been super helpful! Thank you so much for making this accessible and for being so enjoyable and easy to watch!
While I absolutely love and appreciate that you're doing this series, did you ever explain A) how to tell tail v nose B) what is frontside/backside? (Ps I'm only half way through the vid now, so forgive me if you explain these later)
So, no, he doesn't, but: A) Honestly, it really depends on your board. The "tail" usually has an obvious kicktail at the end of it, unless your board has two, in which case it doesn't matter which side is nose or tail. B) Frontside is when a rotation or turn is done so that the skater's front is facing the outside of the turn arc. Backside is when your back faces the outside of the turn arc. Regular and Goofy stances have opposite Frontside and Backside facings from eachother. If you're approaching an obstacle for a trick, then "Frontside" and "Backside" refer to which side your body approaches the obstacle from, i.e. the front of your body facing the obstacle approaches it vs. the back of your body approaching it. This is the definition that you'd _expect_ Frontside and Backside to have, but it's actually the opposite. lol
This video is so dope. Im 32 about to turn 33 and 250 pounds so im just getting back into skating after having a bad fall when i was 16. I totally gave it up. But I had the itch again and got a new board and ive been riding street for at least 30 to an hour a day. Ive got knees and elbow pads and ive only fallen once so far. But im getting back into it by riding and mastering riding for the most part. I kinda have bad balance but its been fun getting back into it. Thank you for the tips!
I don’t know if you guys watch CallMeKevin or not but he just did a video of him learning to skate and referenced you guys as the main place he looked to for help. He needs to check this video out as well!
Just got a skateboard for my (35th) birthday from my wife after not skateboarding since high school. I really appreciate this video and look forward to the rest of the series. Thank you for this.
I’m 42 and learning along with my 8 year old daughter, loving having some bite size things to work on when we go the skate park. Uk based so the weather stops play a bit but we’ll get there. Cheers dude.
29 Just started skateboarding today after watching this video religiously for a couple of days. I was able to get on the board and get moving in 20 minutes. Great teacher
Thank u so much for this series i just got back after 2 decades im 33yo now. And this helps me so much im so rusty im back to practising tictacs and crab walk. I could only do ollies back in the days. This videos will teach much better than back in the days when we didnt have videos like this.
Thank youuu🥺❤️ I just had my first ever practice. I took it very slowly and after practicing the first two steps for like 40 minutes I was able to put my back foot on the board and I was just crusing like that for an hour it was so much fuuun can’t wait for the next practice 🥰 I had every possible safety gear on and I had my first fall. I just laughed it didn’t even hurt and it gave me so much confidence. I’m 32 and this was my first time on a skateboard, I got it a week ago. Thank you so much for this video! I thought it had to be much more complicated than what you said but I think the key is really in taking it slowly at the beginning and be happy for small steps. Have fun you guys ❤️
I'm 33 years old and just took up skateboarding because I wanted to be there with my daughter while she plays at our local skatepark. I just wanted to say thank you bro for this content as it is a really big support in my learning. Now I can be out there instead of sitting on the bench
I'm 17 and just I bought a skateboard not even a week ago with my own money. It has Ghost from CoD on the paint and it's fire! I've been practicing on my own with out any help and I've got over that initial fear of falling and have done some of those steps on my own already. I'm very proud of myself. However there is still a lot I need to learn as a beginner and this video has been incredibly helpful to me and the way it was explained was perfect too. It was cool to see how even after 13 years you still mess up a little bit but you never lose confidence and always catch yourself. It was very inspiring! Anyway I justed started school but I can't wait to practice these and see how much better I get. Thanks, a lot man!
Man I’m glad I found this comment bc I cannot for the life of me get rid of my fear of falling. I fall and it feels fine, but when I go fast I get super freaked out. (I’m 19 btw) so how did you get over that fear? Just fall a lot?
@@astrostazz I've fallen more not being scared to fall then I did when I was (ironically enough). The best advice I can give you is to just go for it but start small. If you try and tackle going super fast without that balance and confidence you'll never get the hang of it. Of course it depends on how fast you want to go and what the texture of your street is like. I live on a concrete road so there's more resistance (looser trucks are better for that imo cuz you have more control). If you live on pavement I'd try tighter ones. Going fast definitely takes practice. I'd work on pushing and going down a small hill. I live on one so I can practice balancing that way. Overall you just have to go for it. Fallings inevitable when skating (even the pros do it) so don't be scared. I've already gotten 2 concussions and a couple scars so far but that's just part of the deal. If you wear some equipment and get back up you'll be fine. Hope that helped. P.S once you have your center of gravity on a board it helps a lot with roller and ice skating if you're into that. I've also learned longboards are better for people who just want to cruise and go on concrete as opposed to a board which is for tricks. It depends on what you want out of it. Maybe try that? Ik I'll definitely be getting one
I am so grateful for this content! I'm brand new to skating at 35 and these steps have made it super easy to achieve. On day 2 I'm already starting to cruise a bit and carve out some turns.
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE VIDEOS. As a solo, adult (skated in my teens, forgot all about it hahaha) who wishes to regain knowledge and learn some more, these videos are precious. Cannot thank you enough.
whoa so what you said about trucks being too tight can make the wheels come up when you turn just solved the problem I have been having!! I think things being broken down into even smaller steps is for sure going to help people, even if all they do is skate for 20 minutes it gives a clear plan on what to do. The unknown factor (plus pain lol) is certainly intimidating for beginners but I think the steps help address that
This is a brilliant video for me. Last time i was on a board was about 34 years ago. Ill be 50 this year and just bought a new complete to give it a go again. This is briging all the memories back. 👍🏻

That is awesome! Parents skating with their kids is the future of this sport and I’m here for it. Makes my day when I see comments like this
Aaron and everyone at Braille, you guys are legends..!
All the best to you for fast healing, that sounds brutal
Whoever has been editing your featured content as of late has been doing an excellent job. Great transitions, B-roll is quality, and the animated graphics are well done. Keep it up!!!
Thank you, I will let them know! We have 3 editors who all take some videos to edit
Thank you so much for this helpful info man and all the time and effort you put into these vids
exactly same story here! Thanks you sooo much for the videos Aaron and friends!
Hey I hope it went well! If not pick that board up and get at it. I believe in you dog
Well i am skateboarding for 2 months and can do an ollie
@@xTobiTimeX you are probably not 60, like me.....
Keep trying you will get it! Once you land one it will all make sense and you will land them consistently.
Practice makes perfect.
started working on my ollie after a year, it's been a few months and sometimes i can do a rolling ollie now lol. When i first started it it just practiced stationary ollies on my garage for like half an hour, it's more of a slow progression than anything
I've been skating for almost 1 year now, this video really helped get me started and I freaking love just cruising arround the city now
I had ACL knee surgery a year ago and I try to learn skateboarding now at 25.. your breaking it into small steps really helps with the fear … great video. You guys are really comforting.
Had mine about 7 months ago and I feel you. This video really is great for progressive learning
im 16 and for every summer since i was 12 I told myself id learn how to skateboard. it became a tradition for me to pick it up for a day and leave it for another year. its winter 2024 now and i picked up my rusted 4 year old skateboard and have been learning for a week straight.
Still feeling wobbly so I'll go over the walking and step-on for ever I guess, but I even landed a popcorn on my first day, felt awesome!
any updates after 2 months? :)
Hey Braille im 42 next month just started skating yesterday, your videos are an inspiration for me. Thank you looking forward to many years of skateboarding ahead. Cheers
I'm so glad you are still doing this beginner videos because that's how I learned to skateboard 8 years ago watching your videos, much appreciate it 😎
My 11 year old had been enjoying your channel, so I shared this video with him a few weeks ago.
Been a Braille fan for a few years now recently got a Braille board for Christmas and I can now Ollie loving the consistent content as Well 😁
Sweet! Kickflip next!

I've been wanting to learn to skate for like 2-3 years now? I recently landed a part in an audition for a skater guy, so this is super helpful in my endeavors to learn how. Thanks man!
So stoked to be here. Just started skating last week. This video has been so helpful. Thank you!!
Thought I'd be too old to start haha
Looking forward giving these a try with the laddo!
I’ve been snowboarding for a few years I’ve always wanted to learn to skateboard and this video just helped me get started thanks for the tips
Simple things that matter. Thank you Aaron!!
I just started skateboarding a week ago. Best trick I can do it roll off a curb. Super excited! Thank you Braille!!!
Haha same! How is it going?
I just want to say as a beginner I appreciate you for sharing your skills. I am old as the hills but I will succeed.
Thank you so much! Im here to help you out if you need anything sign up for Braille Skate Academy

Thanks! I appreciate you being a part of the Braille Army and always being here and being so positive! What are you working on for 2023?
@@brailleskateboarding Since I hurt both of my ankles last year, I’m just working on balancing progression with being able to skate at my age. I was starting to chase after each of the heelflips and kickflips. I would love to land at least 1 of each of them someday.
I’m 33 and just bought my first board last night. Excited to watch all of these! Last night it felt super scary on the board, but I’ve already noticed some improvement today!
Thank you so much I had no clue where to start and I'm getting much better so thanks and I hope you keep making content to help us beginners ☺️
Only to let you know, I started to follow you and this series a couple weeks ago. After the first video I was able to ride my skateboard and I am getting really comfortable. Soon I’ll jump to the second video! Thank you so much for this wonderful boot camp
Awesome! Im building a school now. Braille Skateboarding Academy. Coming soon
Just got my first complete from you guys waiting for it to arrive in the mail next week, havent "skated"(I was pretty bad) since i was 15, been super hooked on skating now 6 years later, let's get it
Amazing! Love to hear it! Let us know if we can help
brought home my first complete in 15years. 41 years old ready to learn the right way this time around thanks for these videos my dude!
That is awesome! Keep going and I will help you learn
My toddler has been interested in skateboarding so much that he refuses to get off of the board unless we ride for a bit...even in the rain.
These are perfect for me to get back into so I can teach him and skate with him can't wait to do my first kick flip just landed my first Ollie.
Love it
Day one, babyyyyyyy!!!!!!
This is already geared up to be better than Skateboarding Made Simple! So excited for these more recent modern Aaron videos!!!! I just picked up skating a few months ago thanks to Braille :)
Awesome, well I hope after this series you can land all the tricks in Skateboarding Made Simple!
Danke!
I'm 29 and haven't skated since I was 15 but just ordered a new board after watching like all of yours and Jonny Giger's vids. Never even managed to get an Ollie down properly back then, and now I weigh about 30lbs more haha. Wish me luck ✌️😂
Thank you so much for starting from the very beginning instead of going straight to tricks! This video is already helping so much,
Awesome! Glad it’s helping

Went out today for the first time. I'm 31 years old. Had a blast. Thanks for these videos, it's exactly what I needed!
Love the 8:25 "I am just chilling"

Bought my first skateboard yesterday, finally getting into skating at the age of 30. Now I just have to find the confidence to get out there, and find a secluded spot to get my basics down.
I've been binge-watching your vids the last week, and my first long-term goal is to be able to land a kickflip.
Thank you for your thorough explanations Aaron!
How did the first month go? I just got my first board at 33

I love this series so much! I’m a 26 year old female and have just started skating and this has been super helpful! Thank you so much for making this accessible and for being so enjoyable and easy to watch!
While I absolutely love and appreciate that you're doing this series, did you ever explain
A) how to tell tail v nose
B) what is frontside/backside?
(Ps I'm only half way through the vid now, so forgive me if you explain these later)
So, no, he doesn't, but:
A) Honestly, it really depends on your board.

These are kind of videos we need more of. they're so positive and you can see the passion they have for skateboarding,
I got my first skateboard today!!! and I'm using this playlist to learn how to skateboard!! Wish me luck!
Thank u so much for this series i just got back after 2 decades im 33yo now. And this helps me so much im so rusty im back to practising tictacs and crab walk. I could only do ollies back in the days. This videos will teach much better than back in the days when we didnt have videos like this.
I'm a "comeback after 30 years" who is teaching his son how to ride and this is great man. Love the step-by-step really easy explanation.
Thank you so much for this ❤️
Just picked up a second hand board, about 20 years since I last got on one. This has been super helpful so far! Thank you.
