Chorus:
Good mornin' America, how are you?
Don't you know me? I'm your native son!
I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans
I'll be gone 500 miles when the day is done

I'm a grown Norwegian male..56... This song made me cry. It's about the American dream and life....wat back when USA was the goal of every human being. My heart bleeds tears for USA every day what it's become.
Peace
America is kinda like a teeter totter.....it goes back and forth, up and down and then...it levels itself....for a while.
I'm a 68 year old female and have had a huge crush on every one of these men since i was 18 years old. Two of them gone. Two getting close. Their spirit and music will live immortal.
I'm a 77 y-o Englishman. Never been to America, but watching and listening to this, and seeing that huge audience react brings tears to my eyes, I find it truly moving.
Ditto, but 82. Never tire of watching these giants of country music. Can believe them when they sing 'On the road again'.
47 Manx man an feel the same, best band ever
Willie is just amazing, he makes having an incredible talent look so easy.
They're all amazing musicians
I've been to you country a total of four times. Each time better than the rest. I hope you are able to get to America someday and see this marvelous country with your own eyes. P.S. If you do get here, don't stop in NY.
@@suewallick7523 Maybe I'll get to visit after DJT has put things right! I have no interest in the cities, It's urban America I'd like to sample.
The harmonica player deserves 20 grammys
Mickey Raphael. Fantastic musician
I agree.
He's been playing in Willie's band since the early 70's.
That fabulous harmonica player is Mickey Raphael. He's from Texas...Dallas. He's been with Willie for many years.
That fabulous harmonica player is Mickey Raphael from Texas...Dallas. He's been with Willie for many years.
Willie Nelson recently saved 70 horses from the slaughter house and is letting them run free on his ranch.
is there a source for that would love to read it :)
Typical Texas Republican...
We could use some of them for our therapeutic riding facility if he wants to donate and transport them to North Carolina !
@dianacoulstring6653 We use rescue retired race horses for our vets program. Some are free, and some we have to pay a few dollars for. Either way, it's better than the glue factory
@@ajwinslow1 who? pretty sure he is a democrat.
The Mount Rushmore of Country music
Brilliant comment/comparison.
Close
Yall realize a band of men like this will never happen again 😢
Sadly, we do know.
Of course they will
The harmonica guy steals this show.
Hello So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song
I HATE TO SAY THIS BUT - UNFORTUNATELY - THERE WILL NEVER BE ARTISTS AND
ENTERTAINERS AS OF THESE EVER AGAIN - THE GREATEST HAVE TOTALLY GONE..
Never say never ...
But it will require a massive reset.
You don't have an F - 15 do ya Airman ?
Might need one to protect US from the "president"
Dude have you heard Tyler Childers, Thomas Gabriel, or Chris Stapleton??
Totally agree
I totally agree
The voices, especially Willie's, so unique. Half of these are dead, Willie is 90 & Kris is 87. You can't beat a good country song.
America is still listening to the Highwaymen.
From France : me too . Marc
Reggie was an absolute legend!
May God retain the memory of Steve Goodman, author of one of the most marvelous and well written songs in any musical genre.
Before the world went crazy & America was still America & freedom.
So much country music today is not really country.
A handful of the most talented singers and musicians in the past 100 years all in one spot. What a blessing it was that The Highwaymen existed in my lifetime. Just some of the greats having fun.
When you look in Willie's eyes you instantly know that this a truely heartwarming person.
Willie, Waylon, Cash and Kris. Outlaws. Legends. REAL country. 'Nuff said.
Here is my comment about how good things were compared to now.
And let’s give the harmonica player a huge applause!
And Reggie Young a Hügel Applause! Best Regards from Germany 💪
Yezzir!!!
The harmonica player is brilliant
Mickey Raphael harmonica
@@marlenepitts1509 I will google him. He is the King!
The harmonica player deserves a raise....$$$$$$$$$$$
Oh how I wish I could have seen this concert live. How incredible it would have been.
I believe the most important person doing that song is the harmonica player. What a great job of backup.
Absolutely. What a great idea using the harmonica for the train sound effect
Its a frensh song "salut les amoureux" of Joe Dassin
Micky Raphael the man !!
It just doesn’t get any better than this
Four country music masters. Oh to have been there.
Same, can’t imagine how cool it must’ve been to witness four icons on stage together
It doesn't get any better than this. Americana.
Hello So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song
Wellie Nelson and company - I come back, despite your incomparable talent showing people, that there are still good things in our world, through music ...... The "'media" only shows us bad news ... It's "corona -viruses ".... so many deaths a day, etc ... One of the secrets is to live and enjoy every second of" life ", alongside those we love .... They are loves that make us grow and smile through tears. ... it is inexplicable! Gratitude for so much dedication.
Was also watching Eurovision until my ears started to bleed. Put on my earplugs and listened to this. Ahhhh, real music. Instantly calming me down ;)
Yes the media tries to grind you down 24 hours a day.....music vibrates the soul....
Just lost my dad a couple days ago. A US Army and Air force veteran. Coolest thang in shoes.
I'm here slap dab in between Texas and Louisiana. Song did my heart good.
We need to be back where we were in this country at this time, rather than where we are today🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💀💀💀⚡⚡⚡🔥🔥🔥
Willie Nelsons phrasing and voice totally unique no one else on the planet sings like him
This is 2022, and I am seriously wondering where all the real men are ..these are real men, no fancy hair cuts, no frills great song, strong spirit.
Hello dear,how are you doing?
In my opinion todays music just can’t compare to this Feel good music.
Music today is more propaganda.
@@JayJay-xj9on I agree.
I agree - between the synthesizers and the noise you can’t tell if they are even playing their own stuff - 4 men 4 guitars - fabulous
Mickey Raphael and the harmonica add so much to the song!
Add so much? I don't think the song wouldn't be nearly as good without him. And he's happy just cruising in the background, doing his thing.
Excellent work Mr. Harmonica man.
Doesnt get any better 4 awsome performers awsome band backing them wished i could have seen them!
I just love the harmonica player.😊
That would be the great Mickey Raphael.
They don't play this good old music on the radio. No more there's play all the new garbage
Willie Nelson. What a treasure he is. This is my favorite song of his. No one like him. He can sing, write, play guitar and entertain like only few others can match.
Arlo Guthrie wrote this song originally
And smoke weed, dont forget that xD
No disrespect but, The song was written by Steve Goodman but was a hit by Mr Guthrie in early 70s.
Love the rhythm and lyrics, this song has them all!
Everytime I listen to this song I think of my father who worked for the MoPac and the Union Pacific till he retired/
It simply doesn’t get any better than Willie, Waylon, Johnny and Chris singing the classic City of New Orleans in 1990!
These guys were my go to guys. I always wanted to be part of the gang and hang out with them. 1 small note, Chris is spelt Kris. Waylon, a lot of ppl don't know, was the guy who gave up his seat on the airplane that snowy night "When the music died."
Amazing that Steve Goodman's "City of New Orleans" was over 20 years of age by 1990! Classic will never die!
Went to willie nelson concert Birmingham Alabama 1976 pushing 64 now and Willie still the man
I so miss these guys! All superb!!
May God bless Willie Nelson, one of the last true Americans.
We will never see their like again.
Man, you could take Willie out of Texas, but you can never take the Texas out of Willie.
Howdy from Ireland everyone. Stay safe America and enjoy the music of your great legends.
Rights love the pogues.
Came home from Germany after two years asked dad to drive his car around the lake this song came on pulled over and cried
Yeah! America! Home!
Seeing this live must have been glorious this version hits different definitely the best in my opinion 😎🙌
I have seen most of the bands I wanted to see... but that's a tour I wish I had seen.
4 diamonds backed up by a group of golden musicians...the perfect storm of music..How I wish I was there..
Anyone who was there to see this was truly blessed cause these 4 were the heart of country music then and never realized they all 4 would be America's legends for decades to come and generations after generations still as loved as the night those 4 took the stage.🌹🤜🏻🤛🏼🇺🇸🙏🏻✝️✅⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😎
And here on 2/10/24, he's still alive!
2022. Still brilliant, brilliant and brilliant.
I find this hard to watch. Four total individuals, all unique and brilliant with their own recognisable styles, coming together to play their songs. Two are gone and two are hanging on in there. Took all this for granted at the time but God I miss these rugged old troubadours. RIP country music.
thebadloser Fortunately, we still have these videos. We keep them all in our memories. Hello from France . heureusement il nous reste ces videos , pour les garder en mémoire . Bonjour de France .
Mate, we're all hanging on in there right now. This is fab.
We still have Kris and Willie...cherish that and those that have vanished...
@@brianmcmillan7426 we don’t forget them. on ne les oublie pas .

Unreal how great are those men..
If I could travel back in time and go anywhere, I’d go to this concert.

"And the sons of Pullman porters, and the sons of engineers, ride their fathers' magic carpet made of steel..." --Steve Goodman (best line he ever wrote).
Gives me chills to hear it sung every time
What a line up, incredible talent, thank god for video.
Today's so called country music singers couldn't hold a candle to these fine gentlemen. This is country music as it was meant to be. Nobody can touch Willie when it comes to this song. Best railroad song ever. Thank goodness for recording equipment. And the harmonica player does an excellent job
I didn't even need to click "read more"
I clicked that "like" button a sentence or so in 👍
Marvelous song
"New country" music is trash.
This is Country & Western, real music that represents America.
The harmonica player is called “Devil” reference the Willie song “The devil shivered in his sleeping bag” that’s him.
Jamey Johnson is the only artist that comes close to anything like this. Other than him I agree completely.
I think this concert is the best thing I've seen and heard ever
This kind of music is just missing today, it's sad.
God bless america,we need you GOD,times are getting crazy, countriy musc keeps me sane!!
„America HOW ARE YOU?“ gives me the chills every time
Yes it does.
Me too..............it brings tears to my eyes given what is now happening
@@rosaleeadams1160 that really can mean anything, but the fact that it is so, makes it much worse.
It does and I'm not even an american
For some reason, this had me in tears...that bloody harmonica, man!
Can it get any better than this. ?
Love the way Waylon watches Willie play his guitar solo🥲
This iconic guitar called Trigger. 99% of people would trow that at a dumbster, but it have such a special sound to it. Amazing. It's a classical guitar with nylon string and not a western.
This is the comment I came looking for :)
In every song that Willie does a solo he does that lol, can see why it gives me goosebumps the way that guitar sounds ❤️
Me too!!
@@chloeleedow7250 play boxcar Willie winds of yesterday
No Lasers, NO magic light show, no auto tune, just 4 talented friends putting on a legendary show
That's it. Simplicity! The best!!😍
Just pure class.
Chapeau bas..
…and their pick of backing musicians. Hell, I’d pay THEM to let me play bass at just one show.
Hello Loyde. How are you doing today?
my favorite memory of this song is when we were traveling cross country and i put it on as we left the Hoover dam
Too The Highway Men ,IM Sorry andThankyou.
Don't think I've ever seen a softer expression on Waylon's face than what he wore watching Willie take his solo here. Brotherly love and admiration.
32 years later and still golden.
RIP John and Waylon
RIP Reggae Young

Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofersen. The Country music rules the world.
These men will be remembered long after we are all gone.
Oldies and Goldies. They are especially appreciated by those over 80 years.
Four of the best bad boys on stage right there..♥♥♥♥ Love them all. To see all four of them at one time would of been awesome..

I love how Waylon is in awe of Willie's guitar solo. Pretty cool. Willie is amazing on the guitar.
This beautiful music will live forever. The highwaymen.
My late husband and I used to have this playing in the car on the way to work. He loved this song. Takes me right back to those times that I miss sharing with him so much.

Love the way Waylon looks watching Willie as he plays the guitar solo. It's so much more than simple admiration. You can tell he loved him as a brother in the music!
We’ll never see the like of these again, true American patriots, music that transcends the years, thank you from a Brit.

Legend has it that Willie was born with that guitar in hand.
His sons now tour with him.
His phrasing, and musical timing are stellar. A truly feelgood anthem.
This is not supposed to be a "feel good" song. It's supposed to be sad and wistful.
