Finally, a user friendly tutorial for someone who is kind of savy. This tutorial was single, user friendly, and easy to finally. You have definitely gained a follower. Keep up the good work!!
I'm hoping you can help me. I'm setting up my "at home" office. I have one Dell 7440 laptop that has 3 x USB 3.0 PORTS and 2 Monitors with HDMI. Can I j I just use go straight to the ports and get an EXTENDED DISPLAY? Thank, Renee
@@reneerheney2537I'm pretty sure you can. I think that's exactly what he's showing in this tutorial video. It shouldn't matter that you have 3 USB ports instead of 2 on your laptop. You can also buy adaptets/converters that have more than just the 2 HDMI monitor ports. The one I bought has 12 ports. 2 HDMI, 4 USBs, USB-C, SD Memory card plug-in and a few others I can't remember off the top of my head. The brand is MCY Multifunctional Converter / 12-Port. A little more than I needed but at least I have the extra ports if I ever need them. 🤷♀️
Thank you! I was trying to use an HDMI splitter but having mirroring issues between the two external monitors. I fixed the issue by connecting and HDMI-HDMI cable from the one HDMI port on my laptop to one monitor and using my USB to HDMI adapter to connect my 2nd external monitor. It's klunky to have cables on each side of my laptop, but now I can extend between 3 monitors or disable the laptop display and extend between the two external monitors. Yay!!!

If i use this for dual monitors what is the highest hertz ill be able to get? because i noticed it says port 1 is 30 hertz and port 2 is 60 hertz so does that mean even if my monitors are 144 hertz ill only be able to get 60 hertz?

Awesome Video Mark! Easy to understand. My three monitors were Monitor #1 & Monitor #2/3. After watching your video I was able to correct the issue and set up all Monitor screens independently from each other. Thanks!
Thanks for making this video!! I thought a splitter was what I needed and ordered the wrong thing. Also thanks for the links that way I get the right adapter this second time around lol.
I bought a splitter, what was the right tool? It works to extend from my lap top, to my two screens. But my two screens are dupes. How do I extend those to each other..
Hi thank you for the info. Just to ask is it possible to just use the hdmi port on my laptop? I notice you didnt use it . May laptop screen is damaged but have 2 monitors I intend to use one as primary screen and the other as the extension . Please help I would be grateful
Yes, you can use the HDMI port from your laptop, to hook up to one monitor. While using an adapter cable to hook up to the other monitor ( Via USB), unless you have a VGA port or display port on your laptop.
This didn't work for me. I don't see separate monitor boxes in the display section. All I see is 1/3. When I click detect it says didn't detect another display. I have brand new monitors. Never used. They still both say "Let's get started". But I can't cause I can't move the mouse to either screen.
This was good . I wish I could have seen how you added the tabs to each monitor. I couldn’t see that part until you were finished because you were zoomed in to close 😔
Very user friendly video and explanation. But now I have a question. Why does my sound stop when I connect the docking station or a second monitor? How is that fixed?
Thank you for the helpful video, however I can only see my laptop and one the of the other monitor I have try all that you had suggested and thing works.

I unplugged one of the HDMIs from the splitter and replugged but I still don't have 3 screens as you've shown. What could I possibly be doing wrong or do I need more equipment? My laptop is in the middle of the two screens and I can slide things from one to the other. I just want 3 separate views. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
i have displayports on my two monitors. will a usb-c splitter work to connect those two? i also have a 3rd monitor with hdmi only that i want to add as a 3rd monitor. question is, if i connect the 3rd monitor via hdmi to my laptop, would it work at the same time with the dual monitors on usb-c? i have 1 usb-c port and 1 hdmi port on my laptop
Thank you. Just bought my 2nd monitor and was checking how to set it up. One question, I only want to use my 2 monitors and turn off the display for my laptop. How can I do that?
Thank you for a great video. I am struggling a bit, I bought the same adapter, but am unable to get it to work with a chromebook, which I purchased it for, or a Lenovo netbook. It works fine with an HP laptop. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Mark, very nicely done video. This was very informing to watch. Silly question but your link to the dual monitors comes up on amazon as two different model monitors. Is this due to limitations with the laptop video card or just random. Can I simply by two identical monitors? Keep up the nice work.
