    ❓ Frequent questions:
    (1) You can connect any number of monitors using these steps, depending on how many monitors your graphics card supports. As an example, the NVIDIA RTX 3080 supports up to 4 monitors simultaneously.
    (2) For projecting to a laptop screen (5:42), if you notice sluggish performance, try using a hardwired connection via ethernet.
    (3) To use an iPad or Android tablet as your second monitor, you can try Spacedesk: www.spacedesk.net

Kevin, the best setup I came up with is an ultra wide monitor (34 inch) along with a portrait mode monitor (24 inch) to read long articles. This set up is perfect for a workstation and the size of monitors are bare minimum.

    • @KevinStratvert
      @KevinStratvert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@randy9046 funny enough, I used to use two monitors but switched to one when I bought an ultra wide. It’s like two monitors but without the split in the middle. When I film, I still use two though.

@@randy9046 I have notebook with 24 inch monitor above and an LG ultra wide to the left in portrait mode. Besides reading long articles, I can finally enjoy looking at vertical phone media. Another benefit is the Phone screen from "Phone Link" looks great on a large screen.

@@AdamsTaiwan yep, it seems that having second monitor in a portrait mode improves productivity as in these days multi tasking is a necessity as far as laptop monitor I use only for zoom meetings and chating.

I have 3 ASUS VG248 24” 144htz gaming Monitors arranged side by side with a Mount-It! Triple Monitor Mount | Desk Stand with USB and Audio Ports | 3 Counter-Balanced Gas Spring Height Adjustable Arms for three 24 27 30 32 Inch VESA Screens. I have had this setup for 4 years and have been very happy with it. With Windows 10 or 11 it can easily be configured with a couple of minor settings changes, to act as one continuous screen 13” high but 59” across when they are set in a semicircular arrangement, for a true surround effect display. I have gamed with it set up in this fashion, and frankly, I found it a bit disorienting and on occasion cause slight nausea. I typically use each monitor to display something different. The two outer monitors display the Web browser on the left and my email client on the right monitor. While using the center monitor for file viewing or watching movies. I will eventually go to newer monitors with a smaller screen bezel, or perhaps one of the new extra-large curved monitors. After using this setup for 4 years I cannot imagine going back to a single monitor even a very large one.

If both your laptop and smart TV support casting, you can use that to wirelessly cast from your laptop to the TV. It can be hit or miss in terms of reliability, performance, and compatibility. The easiest way is to plug an HDMI cable into your laptop and the other end into the TV's HDMI port.

I went through this ordeal recently, but on Linux.
The key point here is the **docking station / dongle** with 2x monitor outputs and with **driver support** for the video chip.
And because the majority of the chip manufacturers are supporting Windows and Mac only, you got hit and miss situation on Linux.
But there is one awesome company that offers Linux drivers: DisplayLink. I love these guys, I love the dock I bought and won't look into any other product without DisplayLink inside.
I only wish they are more vigilant with the latest kernel support, but no complains here! I'm typing this message with 2x monitors on my laptop :D

on windows hold down the windows key, and click p at the same time. A pop-up should slide in on the right of your screen, there are multiple options:
Duplicate: the one you have one which duplicates the screen from your main monitor on the second, being a mirror
Second screen only: turns off your main display and uses only thr second one
Primary display only: turns off your secondary display and uses only your main one
Extend: the one you are looking for, makes it essential one giant screen where you can drag windows on and have different content showing and both screens on. After turning on extend mode, the pop-up should close and your second display to change,
FOR RIGHT NOW KEEP YOUR CURSOR ONLY IN YOUR MAIN ORIGINAL DISPLAY
after this go to windows settings and go to the search bar and search up display orientation, you should be seeing two boxes on the top, one box labeled one, and the other 2. You can click and hold each one to mimic your in real life display orientation. This allows you to move your mouse properly, between the two, for example if you have a 2ns monitor on your right side of your main, put the number 2 box next to the number on on the right side, I hope you get what im getting at. You can now test out the mouse and see if it smoothly crosses it properly like you want. Thats it! Drag windows and use it like usual.
If you have questions feel free to ask, I hope I helped

Half of this video is talking about a thunderbolt cable I think we all well aware of what HDMI USB c is USB a let's get to the point. More people are questioning the programming and software not the hardware. This man did not go over any of my questions that I had over the topic

While your level of technology knowledge may be high, many people are not aware of the differences between HDMI, USB-C/Thunderbolt, USB-A, DisplayPort, VGA, and DVI. Kevin is showing people how to identify the ports on their computers and monitors, and demonstrating how to find the cables that they need. This is important information when connecting more than one monitor to a PC, which is what this video is about.

By the title in your video, I assumed you would be demonstrating how to connect two monitors to a PC (or to a laptop).
You demonstrated how to add a second monitor to your laptop. I was hoping to see how to have a Windows computer feed video to two stand-alone monitors, and be able to use them in such a way that your mouse travels from one monitor to the next monitor.
Will Windows allow you to use more than one of your computer's display ports, to feed more than one monitor? Or is some type of hardware needed that will take a single output from your PC and split it to have a two-monitor display?
    Thank you.

If you have a Logitech Keyboard and Mouse you can accomplish this by enabling 'Flow' in the 'Logi' software.

If you have multiple display ports and your graphics card supports it, you can connect multiple monitors. For instance, the NVIDIA RTX 3080 supports up to four monitors connected simultaneously. You only need a splitter in the situation that your GPU doesn't support the number of monitors you want to connect to. When splitting, you'll lose some resolution for each signal.

@@KevinStratvert Perhaps I should have been more detailed in my initial comment (I wanted to keep it concise).
My friend has a laptop. He does not use his laptop's monitor. He has his laptop connected to an external monitor. He wants to add a second external monitor (side-by-side) and use his laptop's keyboard and mouse to travel between the two monitors, as if it were one ultra-wide monitor.
I do not know what type of display output ports he has. Assuming he has only 1, can he accomplish his goal? Is that where the "splitter" you referred to comes in?
      If yes, any recommendations?
      Thank you.

    • @KevinStratvert
      @KevinStratvert  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Miracast is basically HDMI over Wi-Fi. If you're connected via ethernet, it'll use that instead of Wi-Fi. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/surface-hub/miracast-over-infrastructure

Very useful, I actually have 2 display ports on my laptop, and 2 USB-A ports, but since I'm using one of those, I can only use the other one for something, so if it wasn't for that, I've tecnically would've had 4 display ports.
