Also, what is the biggest killer of these engines? The factory service recommendation? I have my M550i on a 5000km oil and filter change, done 45k, doesn’t use a drop of oil.
@@dnl35projectsabsolutely. I’m a diehard n63 original supporter from the beginning. They have their issues and undoubtedly there have been some fantastic revisions and reliability upgrades since then. You have the original S63 as well I believe? Before the TU revision in 2014? That’s still a beautiful motor. I personally know verified times of tuned N63 and N63TUs running 10 sec 1/4 miles on 93 octane and index 12 injectors (N63B44O0 motor) and only an intake modification. They have serious potential
The biggest issue of the S63 and N63 engines are the enormous amount of heat they produce and thats why they are called "Hot V" - When you combine that with long oil services intervals you have a recipe for disaster, maybe not while the car is new but once it goes past 80 or 100K miles a rebuild is the only solution.
fantastic information! Thank you for your contribution to the N63tu/s63tu community! Will definitely refer to this video when servicing my vehicle in the future :D
We buy all parts from USA and usually takes no more than 3 weeks - $40k is usually what the shops around Sydney would charge, this guy is spending about $20k because I made a deal with him so my labour is 1/4 of what the shops usually charge
That’s not mandatory however if you’re rebuilding your engine was either broken or have high mileage - in both scenarios I’d highly recommend you installing a new oil pump in it. That will not only give you peace of mind but also create a safety buffer so oil pressure is there is something goes wrong.
@DNL35 Any preference on what filter to use? BMW OEM oil filter vs say the Bosch oil filter? The Bosch one has this extra bit at the bottom with a kind of gorse (if you haven’t seen it)
Hi, if you had any work done and material removed from the block or cylinder heads, you will need a thicker gasket (1.05mm) - if you just cleaned everything and put it together you can use the regular one (0.75mm)
question the oil cooler valve, i have felt when the weather is below 37 dgree C the oil cooler valve is shut it seems to prevent humidity in oil, and when the weather temps are above 37c to 55c the oil valve is allways open even in cold starts!, in the hot weather even cold starts are longer to reach the optimum temps, Lol the question is with the hot temps in my country should i install the oil cooler valve that make it open allways or this could put me at risk?
The oil thermostat wont begin to open at about 75c and I'm a bit again some of the aftermarket parts - My belief is that BMW designed it to work a certain way and as long as it's working properly I see no reason for changing.
Hi, yes unfortunately the owner wanted his car back and we did not have a chance to record more videos. The main crank bolt to the Vibration Damper (M18x1.5) must be tightened to 100Nm + 3 times 60 degrees of rotation ( 100Nm + 60deg + 60deg + 60deg)
Yes but it's a huge gamble, with reusing those parts the car might not even drive out of the garage - It could be good for a while or seize again just after the first start - Definitely not something I'd recommend doing however it's out of my hands now.
I’d have you build my n63 any day. Very nice video. Very special cars for only certain people who can understand the way they work and appreciate them
Couldn't agree more ! That car would not seize the engine if it was sent to a good shop to start with.

@@dnl35projects aparece lá! Bora!
i waited 11 months for my s63-tu to get rebuilt waiting for parts here in Australia sucks... 40k on a rebuild snaped the crankshaft in half

Hi, no not really - they are good as long as it’s one of a good reputable brand like Mann, Hengst, Bosch or even Hiflo
please tell me what gasket you used? I can’t figure out if I need a plus sign 1.05MM (+0.3) or a regular one

I watched this video twice thinking I missed the tightening torque of the crank bolt. I don't think you mentioned it. Do you know what it is?

ㅋㅋㅋ 잘봤습니다. 돈이 부족하지만 빨리 작업 해달라?
Sorry I don't understand the question
bro this build has been without new valve and spring ? and valve stem seal!!!!???????
No, the heads have been sent away to the machine shop to get properly services and decked out to be 100% flat -
i'm sorry, but the customer doesn't deserve your job...
I’m the only to blame for not setting boundaries from day one and also for becoming emotionally attached to this project
Maybe the guy wants to sell the car once finished. He doesn’t care if the problems are going to happen to the new owner.
