I made the same engine with the same kingtech parts today I was flustered because it didn't start, but it was a matter of timing tool It's working very well right now
Great video (and series) - watched 'em all tonight, very much enjoyed them. Such a shame that, for the sake of what is I assume a couple grand and a few more weeks, this motor hasn't been done all new - looks like a proper 1000hp potential build with those sleeved cylinders, forged rods and race bearings otherwise.
Thank you - yes I've done some research and talked to a few people its all pointing to the CAS and FRM since this car does not have a starter relay. Will have a chat to the car owner and get back to you - I appreciate your input
Hi, thats a cover for the rear coolant passage - a common source of leaks for the S63 and N63 engines and BMW does not have a gasket for it meaning you need to buy a new plate ($100) - I'm glad the new S63 in the F90 does not have that
Do you recommend OEM oil filter on the S63TU or is say a Bosch item fine too? I noticed the Bosch one has some extra kind of gorse filter at the bottom
@@dnl35projectshey, I’m not sure if this will work, but it maybe be worth a shot. I had a similar issue when I changed my fob battery. Had to place key near the steering column, but nothing. I tried rubbing the key battery thoroughly, with isopropyl put it back in the fob and it worked. I was literally going insane!! The children’s anti-swallowing coating on the battery interfered with the contact. I hope it works for you!!
Did you replace any of the hoses while the engine was out? Is there any you would recommend that are hard to access or prone to failure? Or do you just replace all of them if you can?
Does the car have comfort access? I had the same, no crank no start and upon changing one of the door handles wihich was shorted, the car started. I now you don’t have the car anymore but it would be good to disconnect CA module to test this theory also…
Hi, no hardware was changed other than the engine being rebuilt - I had a quick message from the car owner this week and apparently someone did successfully coded the car and it's now working. I'll share more details once I know exactly the issue.
Have you done any sort of DCT adaptation? Sounds like something is disconnected on the transmission side and the vehicle is defaulting to manual mode, which your car is not.
The car owner had a coding App on his phone and did a bunch of attempted to code everything when the engine died last year - Im certain something was changed or coded out as there is only one plug going into the transmission and that was connected properly.
Couldn’t you short the starter just to crank the engine “dry”? That’s not going to solve the issue, but at least you can rule out the battery, starter and mechanical issue.
Need to drop the engine or the mounts out with the subframe to get to the starter however the starter was bench tested and I don't believe its a hardware issue as there are a few electrical gremlin's showing up
You took the ball out of the stadium again buddy, I cant get enough of your videos! You are the best, thanks for all the info during the videos!
LOL Thank you very much - I'm glad the info provided is being useful
Another excellent lesson on the M5. Looking forward to the next segment and wishing much success.
Many thanks!
Excellent
Thank you! Cheers!

That’s good to hear ! What happened to timing ? Did you use the tools or the engine got out of timing ?
@@dnl35projectsI used the timing tool as a new product and it started It's perfect without any issues
Hell yeah! Really looking forward to see how the Kingtec internals perform, looking to buy ones myaelf
Yes, im anxious for that 😆
New subscriber love the vids working my way thru the channel and so jealous of the m5
Yeah it’s a beautiful car !

Yes its a shame, I also believe thats a very capable engine after the upgrades ... keen to see how the cheap rods and pistons will hold up
잘봤습니다~
Thanks
Great video, thanks for the update. What’s your oil recommendation for the N/S63 engine, are you using Penrite?
Hi Jason, yes I use 5w40 Penrite which is on the thicker side but still within BMW recommendation.
This can easily be resolved have them correct the VO and encode the CAS and it will start this can easily be done with Protool or I can do this remote
CAs is looking for a clutch input easy to code correctly

If I had to guess the flash had some manual files.
Yes I'm thinking the same
also what was that plate that you bolted down on the back of the engine before installing the flywheel?
Would also like to know that😅

@@dnl35projectsI questioned about this in another video of yours, now I found the answer. Thanks a lot😉👍

Hi, no not really - they are good as long as it’s one of a good reputable brand like Mann, Hengst, Bosch or even Hiflo

Yes, theres a "Y pipe" under/in front of the turbos which I always replace since the Y is made of plastic and perishes easily

I didn’t know each turbo was fed from both banks! I don’t think that’s the case on my Audi 4.0TT engine.
Yes, thats one of the differences between the S63 and N63 however the new N63 have the same type manifolds now
Do you think the owner fried the original ecu and replaced it with a manual transmission one?
I don't think the ECUs are fried but he certainly messed up the software/data in more than one module using the coding app on his phone 😩

Yes ! That’s another reason I’m so keen on starting this engine 🤣
