Sounds like quite the ordeal. Being single, not owning any animals and leaving almost all my possessions behind, I'm hoping the process will be smoother than it was for you. Still, it is quite scary. Just moving away from my childhood home to a new place felt like I was leaving my world behind. Taking a one-way plane trip to another country has got to be terrifying. And I'm in Canada, which makes things a little more complicated. I've never even seen a flight to Ecuador from here, they all go through Bogotá before going to Quito, and they're all overnight flights. Just for my exploratory trip in a few months, it's going to take three planes to get in and three more to get out. Very inconvenient. But you gotta do what you gotta do to escape.
As a couple currently trying to sell a house and a medical practice and start the building of a new house in Ecuador with the plan of moving in 7 months, this video was very interesting.
@@tinyhandsbigdreams We spoke before. I am the one that said your knowledge on functional medicine is excellent. We will be living in Cotacachi. We are also the ones who may be making the commute to buy mutton/lamb from you if you decide to sell it in the future.
We had a very similar situation. If only you made this video 3 years ago haha. But we here now and life is better. The container thing sucked for us too. everything made it to Ecuador alright but the company we used in Ecuador for shipping the container repacked the container horribly and broke our tv and some furniture.

I remember watching every single video and reading every single blog post I could find about moving to Ecuador, and there just wasn't much out there then! Oh man, was that at customs? It's the customs agents that repack and they could not POSSIBLY care less about your stuff. We were near tears when we opened our container and it was a horrible mess. Luckily we are over the top packers and lost nothing, but boy was it stressful.
You are inspiring others to flee the oppressive US and State governments here in America. It appears Ecuador may be the last bastion of liberty on the planet.
Almost can't watch because I identify from over 5 years ago. I didn't use a container. I boiled 64 years into 4 suitcases and a cello. I had to get my FBI check apostiled in Washington DC. All others in Virginia. The apostile/notary process was really confusing. The fingerprint thing is so dumb. When I got to Ecuador, in my visa/cédula process, they scanned my fingerprints.
@RobertKalebra i suppose to connect them to your identity; cedula, visa, etc. When we bought our land, our fingerprints and the seller's were put on the deed as well as our photographs.
If they put the seller's on there as well, it was to bind the sale as an enforceable contract between the parties so the seller has recourse if you failed to pay and to protect you from fraud by the seller would be my guess.
I have questions about solar panels. Do you have email? Can we text ? I ask because youre in a second or third world country and Im not sure if they have cellular everywhere like here.
