Welcome to North Carolina. If you want to you need to travel NC and check out at least the western part of this great state before you settle down. I've traveled from Florida all the way to Seattle and even spent over two weeks in Alaska and I don't believe I could call any other place home. My wife and I live in Surry county which borders Virginia. When you find a place be sure and find you a great church to attend. God has so much to offer you through his son Jesus Christ and getting to see most of the U.S. You witnessed first hand God's beautiful handi work on this planet. Y'all take care and God bless.

I cried so much during this video. I'm an RN with 2 jobs 2 kids and have been married 16 years and we just bought our first house. I've recently taken up gardening and found Roots and Refuge. The grind is taking all of us down and I'm/WE aren't happy. I hope I find the courage to change my own journey. Thanks for the inspiration.

I have been with you from the beginning and my spirit has merged with yours, there have been so many tender moments and yes, I have had many tears over such beautiful moments, God has blessed you both, by bringing you together, you are a very special women, such courage, such tenacity, doing this and looking after 4 lovely boys, wow, that takes, guts, and for hubby to give up work is really scary, but you saved your marriage, look after her, she is so precious and you are so lucky.

But there's one thing I've learned in all my years is, All things will be reviled in time... So just let me say how VERY PROUD I am of you kids. and thank you for taking me on this journey with you. You kids are doing what I dreamed of doing so many years when I was younger. But life didn't work out for me that way. I've got this disease called Rambling Fever and there's no known cure for it... We decided exactly a year ago to start our homstead in NC! Weve done tons of research but theres obky so much the internet can tell you! I found you guys through Art and Bri and Roots and Refuge literally the same day I saw both videos and was so pumped when you said you loved NC the second your video went up I put it on the lost to watch with my husband! The entire video I said it will be NC it will be I can feel it! When you announced it we both had a sigh of relief you traveled the entire country and still went with the state we chose this brings us such peace that were not screwing up our entire life! We cant wait to move this fall! And hopefully get to meet you sometime in the future!

I started farming this property in 1986 and we didn't have internet or Google for help. The last 3 years found Justin and Rebecca, they have been a blessing with information. So proud of your family. I am sitting in the middle of Kansas City in my urban homestead in the making and am in tears from this video. Your family is so precious and I have been following you for quite a while now and have been captivated by your sweet family!!! My husband and I have celebrated 47 years of marriage on New Years Eve and have lived in the city and the country and there is no place like rural America. There is nothing like landing in a place on an adventure and finding the acre of ground you own in the middle of a small town in North Missouri ( 400 pop.) has the most fertile soil at your fingertips. We have dug as deep as 4 feet down and it was all topsoil. I miss that place but now we have new challenges and finding your videos has put a spark in the purpose and a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing your life with me!!!
Kudos to you guys. I'm a native Californian and left it in 1990. The world is a big place and the journey of leaving Southern California was sad but opened our eyes and looking back so glad we did. Oklahoma is where we settled too. From the southeast to Oklahoma and the freedom was where God Sent Us. No doubt about it. We are happy you have found a place to start again at. Just keep God first in your life and he will guide you. He gave us the earth to tend to and care for. We only reap the rewards from caring for His creation.
Well, no surprises here. I always knew you would pick the mountains of N. Carolina or E. Tennessee (my home state). If you call yourself Hollar/Holler/Hollah you gotta end up in hillbilly country. No other choice makes sense.
I am now in that same state of mind, I'm married and have been for 23 years, life really short, i was just diagnosed in April 3r 2019 with aggressive invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer, I'm still doing chemo and the tumor is shrinking thanking our lovely God every day for it.. but again i feel trapped and have been for a number of years, my Husband never wants to relocate and start over.. works for the city and a volunteer Captain for 30 years on the Fire dept, I've been caring for my mom with Dementia and she's moving today to an assistant living place. My children are grown and have their families and we're blessed with 7 beautiful Grandkids. My Husbands parents are still alive and his Dad is pretty much bound to a chair everyday and i know it would be hard on him to leave at this time. But I'm an avid Gardener, plant so much to sell at farmers markets and store and preserve for winter months, my Husband is not a big gardener but will help out.. we live in Wisconsin and my husband got his Grandparents farm of 135 acres.. my plan was to sell our home and build out there closer to my Gardens, but our house needs fixing first and he's not a handy man at all.. but i keep telling him I'm not happy and need a change soon. We have a tight marriage but not enough for me and i need to make myself happy and not always making everyone else happy first.. great video and will see more in the future and how far you have gotten on your journey❤
back in early 2004 I was working as a travel nurse and we bought an RV as my stipend paid the note on the RV. We stayed in Maine and while their we ate Maine Lobster, we traveled to Boston and you know we drove around and looked for tea and found no one had tea in Boston. None of the restaurants or bars offered tea to drink at all. It blew us away cuz we're from Texas and lemme tell ya we drink sweet tea like water here. Also especially cuz of the Boston Tea Party and nobody in Boston drank tea? just baffled me! haha thnx for sharing gosh I am enjoying your story bless you kids I so enjoyed listening of your travels. I am so proud you from your home. My hubby of 40 yrs and I want to travel again before we get to old and debilitated to do it. You did an amazing job on your video.
I'm 57, retired from the Navy. Seen the world. But when you cried at the Grand Canyon, so did I. I haven't seen that yet. I know I will again once I finally get there. I can't wait to start our journey in a couple of years. You guys are awesome and such an inspiration. Thanks
I grew up near Waterton National Park which is connected to Glacier Park on the Canadian side. I have to say it’s one of my favourite places on earth. There is one trail that you can take that goes into Glacier. From there you can take a boat ride back to Waterton.

I came on to you a week ago, and after watching your vlogs about your remodel of your home I found this vlog. On this journey with you has brought me to tears. Not many of us get a second chance and most of us have not seen much of the United States. I'm from Chicago and my forever hubby is from Denver. He was in the Navy for 8 years and has been around the world. I used to have him tell me stories of his travel. I missed out On travel but I'm happy. I have my kids and 11.5 grandchildren. Your sons are very lucky to have seen so much in their young lives. They will have stories to tell their partners one day. A side note about kids and travel. Two of my grandkids. Alexis 16 and Cameron 14 want to London, Paris, Cancun and Mexico City this summer. Talk about a trip!
What an adventure and what a transformation. Your family has seen more of America in 10 months than most Americans will see in their lifetimes. The growing Homesteading movement is encouraging to witness. There is no better way to raise a family IMO. Watched 30 things to know about you back in 2016? I have a Production/Manufacturing Engineering background and worked with a LOT of machine shops over my former career as a Sr. Buyer. Takes talent and patience to be a precision machinist. Takes talent to knit your heart out and start cottage businesses. Takes faith, love and Providence to raise a family and share/honor all the aspects of six individuals. What makes you consider yourself boring ?? You have all the dynamics of living the good life and NC is a wonderful fit for your dreams. Unless a black bear is high tailing after me, my anxiety episodes pretty much vanished into the sunset, Meg, once I set foot in the countryside... Looking forward to seeing you both become grounded in the land. Its been a rush and a blessing to be part of the Mother Earth Lifestyle. We settled and built our current woodland home in 2016. Still working on it. Hayed our first 1,000 bales this season. 6,000 to go! Quite the journey for Jim and I and for your family!

Y’all have given me hope in that there’s hope that today’s young people have a positive direction instead of the spoiled entitled youth I have encountered lately. I pray that the rest of your lives you will live in the peace you have found and prosper forever. I hope to meet you one day. I cried so much during this video. I'm an RN with 2 jobs 2 kids and have been married 16 years and we just bought our first house. I've recently taken up gardening and found Roots and Refuge. The grind is taking all of us down and I'm/WE aren't happy. I hope I find the courage to change my own journey. Thanks for the inspiration.
Congratulations on your decision! North Carolina is a beautiful place and fits your needs perfectly. I've got a lot of great memories from backpacking, climbing, canoeing/kayaking in that area. I have been with you from the beginning and my spirit has merged with yours, there have been so many tender moments and yes, I have had many tears over such beautiful moments, God has blessed you both, by bringing you together, you are a very special women, such courage, such tenacity, doing this and looking after 4 lovely boys, wow, that takes, guts, and for hubby to give up work is really scary, but you saved your marriage, look after her, she is so precious and you are so lucky.

Now where in NC are you looking to be? Okay I've got a million questions as I'm sure everyone of us that love you kids do.. But there's one thing I've learned in all my years is, All things will be reviled in time...
So just let me say how VERY PROUD I am of you kids. and thank you for taking me on this journey with you. You kids are doing what I dreamed of doing so many years when I was younger. But life didn't work out for me that way. I've got this disease called Rambling Fever and there's no known cure for it... But God has used it for HIS glory over the many years...
Well I'm so happy God has lead you kids to the place/state where HE is going to prosper you kids. I know without a doubt that God is going to open all the right doors for you kids to walk through and be in HIS divine will for your lives. We decided exactly a year ago to start our homstead in NC! Weve done tons of research but theres obky so much the internet can tell you! I found you guys through Art and Bri and Roots and Refuge literally the same day I saw both videos and was so pumped when you said you loved NC the second your video went up I put it on the lost to watch with my husband! The entire video I said it will be NC it will be I can feel it! When you announced it we both had a sigh of relief you traveled the entire country and still went with the state we chose this brings us such peace that were not screwing up our entire life! We cant wait to move this fall! And hopefully get to meet you sometime in the future!

Welcome to North Carolina. I've lived here on my Grand Parents farm in Southern Rutherford co. for 59 years. Count myself very special being born here. I started farming this property in 1986 and we didn't have internet or Google for help. The last 3 years found Justin and Rebecca, they have been a blessing with information. So proud of your family. I am sitting in the middle of Kansas City in my urban homestead in the making and am in tears from this video. Your family is so precious and I have been following you for quite a while now and have been captivated by your sweet family!!! My husband and I have celebrated 47 years of marriage on New Years Eve and have lived in the city and the country and there is no place like rural America. There is nothing like landing in a place on an adventure and finding the acre of ground you own in the middle of a small town in North Missouri ( 400 pop.) has the most fertile soil at your fingertips. We have dug as deep as 4 feet down and it was all topsoil. I miss that place but now we have new challenges and finding your videos has put a spark in the purpose and a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing your life with me!!!
Kudos to you guys. I'm a native Californian and left it in 1990. The world is a big place and the journey of leaving Southern California was sad but opened our eyes and looking back so glad we did. California real estate gave us the ability to make our way out and we are grateful. Ohio is our home east side of Cincinnati.

Well, no surprises here. I always knew you would pick the mountains of N. Carolina or E. Tennessee (my home state). If you call yourself Hollar/Holler/Hollah you gotta end up in hillbilly country. No other choice makes sense.
I am now in that same state of mind, I'm married and have been for 23 years, life really short, i was just diagnosed in April 3r 2019 with aggressive invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer, I'm still doing chemo and the tumor is shrinking thanking our lovely God every day for it.. but again i feel trapped and have been for a number of years, my Husband never wants to relocate and start over.. works for the city and a volunteer Captain for 30 years on the Fire dept, I've been caring for my mom with Dementia and she's moving today to an assistant living place. My children are grown and have their families and we're blessed with 7 beautiful Grandkids. My Husbands parents are still alive and his Dad is pretty much bound to a chair everyday and i know it would be hard on him to leave at this time. But I'm an avid Gardener, plant so much to sell at farmers markets and store and preserve for winter months, my Husband is not a big gardener but will help out.. we live in Wisconsin and my husband got his Grandparents farm of 135 acres.. my plan was to sell our home and build out there closer to my Gardens, but our house needs fixing first and he's not a handy man at all.. but i keep telling him I'm not happy and need a change soon. We have a tight marriage but not enough for me and i need to make myself happy and not always making everyone else happy first.. great video and will see more in the future and how far you have gotten on your journey❤
back in early 2004 I was working as a travel nurse and we bought an RV as my stipend paid the note on the RV. We stayed in Maine and while their we ate Maine Lobster, we traveled to Boston and you know we drove around and looked for tea and found no one had tea in Boston. None of the restaurants or bars offered tea to drink at all. It blew us away cuz we're from Texas and lemme tell ya we drink sweet tea like water here. Also especially cuz of the Boston Tea Party and nobody in Boston drank tea? just baffled me! haha thnx for sharing gosh I am enjoying your story bless you kids I so enjoyed listening of your travels. I am so proud you from your home. My hubby of 40 yrs and I want to travel again before we get to old and debilitated to do it. You did an amazing job on your video.
I'm 57, retired from the Navy. Seen the world. But when you cried at the Grand Canyon, so did I. I haven't seen that yet. I know I will again once I finally get there.
I can't wait to start our journey in a couple of years.

I grew up near Waterton National Park which is connected to Glacier Park on the Canadian side. I have to say it’s one of my favourite places on earth. There is one trail that you can take that goes into Glacier. From there you can take a boat ride back to Waterton.

I came on to you a week ago, and after watching your vlogs about your remodel of your home I found this vlog. On this journey with you has brought me to tears. Not many of us get a second chance and most of us have not seen much of the United States. I'm from Chicago and my forever hubby is from Denver. He was in the Navy for 8 years and has been around the world. I used to have him tell me stories of his travel. I missed out On travel but I'm happy. I have my kids and 11.5 grandchildren. Your sons are very lucky to have seen so much in their young lives. They will have stories to tell their partners one day.
A side note about kids and travel. Two of my grandkids. Alexis 16 and Cameron 14 want to London, Paris, Cancun and Mexico City this summer. Talk about a trip!
What an adventure and what a transformation. Your family has seen more of America in 10 months than most Americans will see in their lifetimes. The growing Homesteading movement is encouraging to witness. There is no better way to raise a family IMO. Like the call to Homeschooling 35 or so years ago when my children were young this seems the next phase and I believe the Heart of God Himself. Many Blessings be upon your heads. Watched 30 things to know about you back in 2016? I have a Production/Manufacturing Engineering background and worked with a LOT of machine shops over my former career as a Sr. Buyer. Takes talent and patience to be a precision machinist. Takes talent to knit your heart out and start cottage businesses. Takes faith, love and Providence to raise a family and share/honor all the aspects of six individuals. What makes you consider yourself boring ?? You have all the dynamics of living the good life and NC is a wonderful fit for your dreams. Unless a black bear is high tailing after me, my anxiety episodes pretty much vanished into the sunset, Meg, once I set foot in the countryside... Looking forward to seeing you both become grounded in the land. Its been a rush and a blessing to be part of the Mother Earth Lifestyle. We settled and built our current woodland home in 2016. Still working on it. Hayed our first 1,000 bales this season. 6,000 to go! Quite the journey for Jim and I and for your family!
