Screw a chatterbait. Like spinnerbaits sooo much more.
Mikes a really stand up guy got to meet him around 2004 at a boat dealership in Ohio talked to him about some jerk bait tips for probably 30 minutes or so guy talked to me like he knew me for years and the pod cast is awesome y’all got me hooked keep up the good work really enjoy watching
You pulled me in with jerkbaits, you stole my soul with spinnerbaits. Thank you, Mr. Randy!! I learned to fish from those who were kind enough to show me when I was a boy. Time on the water definitely refined and added to it, and now, the wonder of social media and your kindness is taking my thing on into the horizon. I will pass on to the young and hungry what I have.
The most important thing we can do as anglers is share our experience with fishing with as many others as we can. I will take anybody who is interested in learning.
Same way I am!! Most people hate on us south Louisiana men because we eat bass. What they don’t understand about it is we don’t have many big bass because we have WAY TOO MANY SMALL 12”-14” footballs that eat 365 on crawfish crabs shrimp Shad swamp minnows & marsh minnows and only get about 3-5 years old because hurricanes come in the marsh and kill EVERYTHING. And if we get a marsh bass that we catch that’s 2 1/2 lbs to 3lbs is like catching a 8lb’r in Texas on Rayburn or the TVA. And a 3 1/2lb -4lb is like a 10lb to 12lb somewhere else. This is something we need to teach these kids coming up fishing now is that you can kill a fishery by over population they eat the food out an eat all day & night. Where big bass will sit and whet for a big meal every other day or so. They will suck in some small things if it comes right to them and they don’t have to move but they would rather have a 5”-7” bream come into a 1’to 3’or4’ and HAMMER it not to burn the energy chasing small food. And that’s what these “SPORTSMAN” don’t know or understand. It’s not the sportsman but it’s the conservationists who can teach the right way to have quality and trophy fishing anywhere because you have to have the right habitat food & balance. An fish that can live together without hurting the growth food habitat and quality of the others spawning
Thanks for all you do for us Randy!! All the decades of blood, sweet and tears it took to gain the knowledge you have is priceless
My favorite lure of all time.
My favorite mid column horizontal presentation! Got my popcorn ready!
Great educational video
I watched this episode when it came our Monday late morning out here in Northern California. Tied me up a 1/2 oz translucent silver and white spinnerbait with a gold and nickel willow leafs. Absolutely but the hurt on them this morning slow rolling rocky banks and drop offs. Adding the chartreuse zoom ring worm is no joke. Heat morning with my 12 y/o daughter that dropped Thors hammer on them from the back of the boat with a dark sleeper. Thank Randy for this channel and these awesome seminars! Looking forward to Mondays edition!
Yessssss. Spinnerbaits... you know the way to my heart.
I love fishing 🎣 my Spinnerbaits 😊
Thanks Randy for these great videos. I love the longer more info videos on this channel. I have to watch them a number of times for all the info to sink into my thick head. Thanks again and God bless.
I like to add a boot tail swimbait and then cut the boot off. No vibration but you get the profile. Works very well for me with a bluegill/perch colored skirt and gold blades. I also make my own skirts and patterns. I don't do well with white/chartreuse or plain white spinnerbaits. Everyone else seems to big not me. My confidence is in perch patterns. I'm trying to incorporate more white/shad patterns.
I use a red 1/0 Gamakatsu round bend trailer hook most of the time, and the fish still slam it. From my experience, I believe the red helps.
Just starting this but couldn’t wait to comment! This is a technique that I’ve always struggled with! Thank you for all the great content, Randy!
Lol that tandem colorado with the orange blade is THE weapon to have in a Lake Cumberland prespawn arsenal!
Nothing is better than the 3/8 oz Strike King KVD tandem in Sexy Shad.
Always enjoyable.
Great seminar Randy. You should come out with a skirt making kit with all your favorite colors and sell it to us
Partner and I took third place in Kansas State throwing the war eagle finesse spinnerbait we found a little pattern and ran it all day. We came up in 5 oz of short of 2nd and 2 lb short of first. Thanks for the tips Randy
Great Vid Randy . Just returned from a 6 day trip to Lake Kyle in Zimbabwe . My buddy smashed them on a Spinnerbait , dropped what must have been 15lb + . Wish I would have seen this TH-cam before the trip . Would have gone with a different mindset and Spinner's .
I know you have seen this ...Bass caught off bed (I'm assuming ) mad as h*** ! Looked like a 2lb. Pinecone ! Scales raised mouth chomping.......Also for your viewers....OMG he bit me what power ! I was a kid at the time of this first experience with what was anger and bite strength. Great informative video as always.
Ya know, you should collab with the tactical bassin guys. All of y’all’s knowledge combined is a plethora of years worth of invaluable experience
I love using a spinnerbait! I pour my own based off of a War Eagle design. .032 R-bend super stainless wire and a hand tied custom skirt with various blade combinations. One of my favorite colors is a chartreuse and blue with a silver #3 Colorado and a #5 gold willow.
It's sad that today's "Professional" fisherman rely almost solely on FFS and very few know how to use the proper lures at the proper time and don't know diddly squat about reading water, temperature, structure or depth properly without their fancy equipment and apps on their phones.
This is absolutely the most in-depth coverage on Spinner Bates I have ever seen and I completely agree on everything you stated here. I still fish Spinner baits and I just picked up a bunch more of them and I'm planning on entering tournaments again in 2024 using spinner baits more than I have been over the last 5 years because I've been killing it with them the last 4 months!
Where I would disagree with you is chartreuse because it's been found that chartreuse registers to a fish as white anyway so anything with chartreuse appears as white to them. The other color I will whole heartedly disagree with you on is green pumpkin! IDK who started that whole thing but I am a Florida boy and I've fished these waters HARRRRD for almost 40 years and I can tell you that Green Pumpkin is useless in my experience! I have tried every shade of it on every type of lure, in varying conditions, and depths, different water clarity and temperatures and that color flat out SUCKS here in Florida. I have a bunch of worms in that color way that have been in my box for years because they simply don't produce and I try one out every once in a blue moon just to satisfy my curiosity when I question if maybe I'm mistaken, but every time, I am completely reassured that I shouldn't throw that color ever. I'll throw a worm or creature bait in that color way for literal hours and not a nibble and then I'll switch to a baby bass or a shad color way and immediately the bite is on, and then just to confirm, I'll put back a green pumpkin and NOTHING again. I think in 15+years I've caught all of 6 dinks on Green Pumpkin anything.
The only use of it I find that works is as part of a skirt when imitating the Bluegill pattern. and the Z-Man SlingBladeZ Double Willow in Bluegill is incredible!
Thanks for this excellent breakdown on Spinnerbaits!
Great video Randy!
Such a great video , loved it , mine the heaviest I will go is 3/8 but I really like 1/4 oz for here cause it’s shallow , but in the winter time I will throw a 3/8 out deeper and I let it go to the bottom but also out in a lil deeper water , then slow roll and pull , slow roll and pull w the rod tip
Good video RB. Have always been a spinnerbait freek myself.
Fun way to fish IMO.
Unlike back in the old days, there are so many great options availible.
U the goat 🐐
I'm off to fish my local club tournament, and I needed this video n knowledge. Thanks, Randy!
My best spinnerbait this year has been a terminator 1/2 Oz white with 5 strands of pink and TWO strands of yellow! Trailer I run is a 2.8 keitech, missle baits spanking shad or a finesse work! Anyone ever use a finesse worm?
I’m just an old country boy but I use a wide rubber band instead of a hard piece of plastic it saves a hook in the thumb!!don’t ask me how I know that!!
The shows that are the best ,are different for all of us. I seek bass knowledge, about lures, and seasonal patterns, for florida. I live in okechobee, and all northern stuff is moot....as well as watching ,shows based up north.the shows are good, but dont apply to my fishing. So my favorites are geared for heavy cover ,shallow water, and deep cranking the Kissimmee river around scott driver park.
Hey Randy absolutely outstanding deatail teaching skills Randy. God bless. Ps what more could I ask of you in this video excellent content.
Great information. Next do a-rigs
I like to retrieve my spinnerbaits with current and run it past slack water behind a piece of cover.
With the white and chartreuse spinnerbait would I have done is I've gotten a blue Sharpie and just put some blue on it and it really really works give it a try
Great info in this video Randy and thank you for all the content. I was a bit surprised that you didn’t mention the Indiana blade at all. Do you not fish them or you just don’t want the juice to get out? 🤔🤔😂
Dynamite content, thanks for sharing. How about in-line spinners? Im assuming u consider those a separate category, when would you prefer them?
Randy thanks for all the info you’re willing to share, making everyone better….concerning those big 1 ounce spinnerbaits for big bass, are they store bought or do put bigger blades on…if so where do you buy blades?
Random question. October or November for fall bass? I’m a deer hunter but I’m fall fishin this year. In VA
Both Oct and Nov are great and im from NY and a Big Buck hunter myself
@@manofthehour9938 ok cool I’m hearin November is great but figured I’d ask yall
@@clay7514 sure is. The bite is already picking back up. Use bigger profile baits for the next month and a half.
Randy, or anybody, do you have an opinion on Rick Clunn’s trickster blade spinner bait?
Big fish lure. Not what you want.Go with any name brand 1/2 oz.
Another video just loaded with info!! Thanks, Randy! Tides influence Spinnerbaits much?
Thx man!
Definitely better on higher tides
I never use trailer hooks.
Randy do you ever use lumaflex skirts I have they seem to work better at least from what I’ve seen
Randy when you change out blades, how do you bend the end back?
I don't see where to buy the individual parts to make these
Who makes the 1ounce spinned bait with the big willow blade. I want to pick on of those up.
The one I use is homemade
Do you still have the lake breakdown maps? The site won't come up for me.
We’re getting ready to start them up again
Good information Randy.
I had wished that you would have covered something on Hammered Blades in Silver or Gold.
How about Brass Hammered Blades?
I hardly ever fish spinnerbaits on a sunny day but cloudy day copper or gold is what I like. Try lumaflex skirts they just work. Lure parts online has them
This is not advanced spinnerbaiting. I will show you amaterd how when I get on the scene. I can show you how to put props on them, where to get premium eyes, how to make permanant, but detachable trailer hook that you can use any trailers on em. I will explain sizes and whatnot, not according to these videos.
Instead of coming on this channel and doing all this talk, why don’t you post a video yourself? Apparently you think you know more, good for you! Post a video on it then I’ll even drop you a like lol! Easy to come on other’s videos and be negative when you don’t have any content yourself 😂
@@JadooBassin You really think truth is negative? I don't think you know what negative is. I respect the first part of the comment.
It's a Zoom "dead ringer" Mr Randy.
