You were my childhood inspiration watching you catch all those giant bass on tv...I caught several giant bass over 8 lbs here in east central IL as a kid with my largest tipping in at 10lbs 8oz and most were caught on your chartreuse big bass willow leaf spinnerbait. I'm 50 now and still enjoy your videos. Thank you sir and hope you're doing well!

I found reeling and letting the sp drop gets good fish. I used to drop it in the water, let it sink to the general depth for the conditions and just reel it in then one day I got a tiny backlash with a faulting reel, pulled it right quick and continued reeling and BAM , nice fish. Repeated the same procedure without the backlash and BAM. Now it's my standard retrieve.
Also found if you're getting a lot of strikes but no hook-ups the lure isn't running deep enough especially if running a trailer hook, I'd run it deeper and/or put the trailer hook on upside down.

Awesome lake! I fished there once and caught over 150 bass in one day ! Probably 60 or 70 of them were over 6 lbs! 10 of them were over 9lbs and 2 over 14lbs! The rest were small 3 or 4lbs lol! I was fishing with small bluegill and goldfish! Nobody knew I was there but I'm sure Roland wouldn't have minded me fishing there! Thanks Roland if you're watching! I fed my family for 6 months with those fish

Back in the 80s Blue Fox used to make a Willow Leaf Spinnerbait with a Colorado Blade and a Trailer Hook.
I don't see them anymore. It was one of my favorite baits in Chartruse. I wish that they still made them. Just like he says a slow dropping retrieve. With 12 pound test.
