    This video is meant to explain the cost and parts involved in building a rolling chassis for a 1962 impala. All new suspension, frame work, LS Swap, serpentine kit, Dayton wire wheels. Alot of time and money behind the scenes. All done 100% in house amongst our club, enjoy!

    Preach it bro! This is why I’ve gotten out of frame work, people have a hard time grasping the cost and effort that goes into it. Because most of it remains unseen in the final build. Most people send me 8-10k in chrome and parts to put on a frame then act like I’m price gouging when I say 4-5k to do stress point, powder coat and assemble, and that price is me doing it for the love of lowrider not the love of money lol because nobody getting rich off that. Awesome video man I’m using it for a reference for anyone that asks about costs.

Sad thing about it is you don’t really feel it till you start adding it back up and seeing the total every time you total the price again n again that’s the part I hate lol but sure does feel good seeing and knowing what you have accomplished and from saving on labor by doing it yourself. A lot of free game in this video.. as far as the engine “rebuild” what all would you advise gets gone through or replaced on an Ls engine pulled from a mid 2000 truck before dropping it in something? And finally can stress points just be reinforced for a convertible frame or would you advise a full wrap even for a lay and play set up? Thanks for these videos been watching for a minute now..

    • @lonestarlows
      @lonestarlows  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it a car u really plan on keeping then you want to reinforce as much as possible. I've had convertibles with nothing reinforce, but im very light on the switch with soft coils. I dont like to tear up cars...I'd advise reinforcing a hard top frame. .the factory convertible reinforcement are kind of wonky and are more work to cut off....could sell a factory cv frame and use the money for work on the ht frame...thats what in going to do on my 60. I have a 59 ht frame out back

      I have 2 ragtops a 61 and a 62. I sold both convertible frames and use a reinforced hard top frame with the vert mounts added. That was the advice I was given by several vets. Guys who are restoring convertibles want/need factory vert frames, but if you're building a lowrider and modifying the car anyway its not as big of a deal to use a modified hard top frame.

    Very good reporting on this project, 12000 plus, ad 10000 misc parts, shop labor, 70 an hour, approximately 80 hours minimum, stay in touch with your customers, bring them in at the 80th hour of work, showing the progress of your craftsmanship, be up front and honest, maybe another 24 to 40 hours of 70 an hour of labor to finish the lower part of your project, that's if you are good and efficient at your craftsmanship, anyone in the custom and repair shops that restore or customize vehicles for a living will tell thier potential customers, have a good check book, have a lot of money in it, if not, go work and save every penny you make, and then, and only then when you have approximately 60000 grand, then bring your favorite project to me, until then ADIOS AMIGOS,.....
