    Congress needs to drastically increase the budget for NASA. They should be able to conduct International Space Station operations AND land men on the moon simultaneously, as well as being able to do other important missions as well. Additionally, we seriously need to consider building two more, much larger and far more advanced Space Shuttles to operate as larger carrying capability vehicles to get equipment up into Earth’s orbit, as any realistic vehicle to travel to Mars will most likely have to be built in space.

    I love the fact that we're going back to the moon and that we have Mars in our sights. Being a multi planetary species is the only way to assure humanities continued existence into the millennium ahead of us. However, why can't their presence be enough? Why must it always be voiced? If they're the best of the best, their presence is enough to know humanity is looking for the best wherever that comes from. Feeling compelled to state this the first this or this is the first that really detracts from the hard work they had to do to get there, because now they're just "the first this and the first that" poor choice.

    • @mudman6156
      @mudman6156 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why shouldn’t it be voiced? Let’s give credit where credit is due. This is an extremely dangerous, difficult mission. The people going are extremely brave. My hat’s off to them, as they, along with our Apollo astronauts, are the bravest explorers the world has ever known. They’re literally putting EVERYTHING THEY ARE on the line to see this through. I wish I could join them. They’ve certainly earned my respect. I think Commander Neil Armstrong, Command Module Pilot Michael Collins and Lunar Module Pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin are the bravest explorers to ever live (so far). And they’re going to remain as such until we send humans out even further…much further.

    I’m so thrilled to know that we’re FINALLY going back to the moon. It was a huge mistake on Congress’s part to cut funding for the remaining Apollo missions. Their success can’t possibly be overstated. Apollo was a fabulous program, and one that, except for Apollo One, was done right. Even Apollo 13 turned into a major success, because never has the situation looked worse for our Astronauts, yet we succeeded in getting them home.
    I look forward to watching Artemis II’s flight to and around the Moon. I’ll probably record every single minute of it. And I’m looking forward to Artemis III…IF THERE IS AN ARTEMIS III. Sorry, but I have absolutely NO FAITH WHATSOEVER with Elon Musk’s Starship rocket launch system. Elon Musk has a really bad habit of taking short cuts. He’s STILL trying to take short cuts. Starship desperately needs to be launched over the top of an appropriately sized flame diverter that’s appropriately sized to the power of the rocket. That message still hasn’t sunk in. He’s once again trying to convince people that he doesn’t need to build the flame diverter. As a result, he’s going to end up setting ARTEMIS III back by years. Starship isn’t going to work as currently designed. While all those associated with SpaceX are trying to claim the launch as being a great success, we know better. It was a dismal failure from the second it lit off. Elon’s test fire, which was at only 40% power, with less than 50% of the rocket’s engines firing, was for a mere 8 seconds. That only proved that Elon was suspect right from the start that his rocket was going to be a miserable failure. Otherwise he would have fired them all at 100% power for at least 15 seconds. Only he wouldn’t have had to wait more than a few seconds, because the launcher blew apart almost immediately.
    NASA needs to create a lunar lander capable of carrying three Astronauts down to the moon and back. Launch it into orbit on another Artemis rocket. Then have the capsule from Artemis III intercept it and dock together for the trip to the moon. That’s our BEST CHANCE of getting there at a reasonable time frame. Otherwise, we’re going to be waiting for years for SpaceX to get their act together with Starship. Elon Musk is Starship’s worst enemy. NO SHORTCUTS ELON!!!

All they're planning is an orbit of the Moon with the current Artemis system. At the moment the technology does not exist to land humans on the Moon. So, let's get real people and have an honest discussion about the ability and cost of the Artemis program.It's simply too expensive and too ineffective. What's the carbon foot print for this going to be? What will NASA's ESG rating be? Will they be shamed by the WEF, the UN and Greta? How Dare You!!!

    NASA seems to be having a party with every tiny milestone.
    It's a Dog and Pony Show as late Steve Jobs puts it.
    Bill Nelson is all about hype.
    Let's not forget how he got his shot in space on a shuttle representing on site inspector of Congress.😮

    We have people going to food banks here in Canada in record numbers, as well as people living in tents on the street in every community. How is this expenditure “moral at this time”, after the worst pandemic the world has ever known, thousand dying, and food prices skyrocketing? This is not me virtual signalling, it’s me devastated by yet another dumpster dive into the disgusting behaviour of the elite, and Canada rejoicing! Disgusting!

      It's called inspiration to solve the very problems you just mentioned and more. You wouldn't have had this thought if humans weren't going back to the Moon and would have accepted your reality.

      Not sure what you mean. This country 🇨🇦 is taxing citizens to the hilt, spending beyond our means, and spending money on this scheme and on a war (that just needed some dialogue).
      Going around the moon is not the first thing to do. Taking care of business in our own backyard is the first task. During covid a rocket to space was inspiration. This object is shear lunacy.

      If you look at the budget numbers, a very tiny (I mean less than 1%) portion of the budget goes to the CSA. I doubt that money could solve those issues you mentioned.
