Great astronauts! I think of the "Artemis Generation" as a commercial generation, with the marketing slogans and Hollywood promotion videos, commercial private partners. The focus is private business ventures. I think of the Apollo generation as more about exploring, rather than business. I'm not sure if the astronauts are going to pivot into multi-million dollar deals, we'll see. But I look forward to the mussion! Like the international aspect. Hopefully one day China will be allowed to join.

Artemis II is a TEST MISSION.
Just like in the Apollo era, there were multiple test missions (7-10) that tested every facet of the Saturn V rocket, and the crew/lunar/service modules. Apollo 10 they literally tested everything except actually touching down on the moon.
Artemis I was a test mission to test the base performance of the SLS rocket, along with the Orion Capsule, and European Space Module.
Artemis II will be a further test of these things, along with testing the human based systems, and any new parts of the rocket and modules. Everything done in Artemis I and II is to prepare for Artemis III and the initial Gateway missions.
You don't do dangerous things by rushing. You test like crazy. You try to flush out and prepare for every contingency. Everything done in previous tests and missions is to better prepare and test subsequent tests and missions. Even Artemis III will be a test for Artemis IV, and so on.
