      @@rixxy9204 It's rather a compliment though. She loved how they let them do their job as they like and the fact that it went like this brings a lot of nuances and characters to the video. You don't watch a group of people who were asked to tell us about things they knew, but instead you watch a group of people who wanted to share some interesting things with us.

      It's true though, because of the funding cuts and low prioritization of recruiting astronauts, even if you have the qualifications or more, you'll still be put into a rigorous and meticulous selection process that take account not only your qualifications but also your skill synergy and all those psych stuff with your crew mates.

    • @cptjeff1

      A little rough math: about 10 people a year go to space. We'll say half of them for the first time. So 5 new people a year get to go to space. 53 players win a Superbowl every year. Not only is it harder to get to space than to win the Superbowl, it's about ten times harder.
      You've gotta be good, but you also have to have an insane amount of luck.

    • @weebchina9639
      @weebchina9639 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@cptjeff1 That's not true though. The difficulty should be relative to the number of people attempting it. I am sure there are more people out there playing whatever Superbowl is playing compared to being an astronaut. You need to factor in the prior probability instead of only the joint probability.

    I'm just surprised the astronaut's salary is so low, at least for what they do. Given how much training, education, and experience they need before they can even get on a rocket, on top of just how dangerous of a job it is, 100k a year seems low to me.
