Had the black screen issue with my Sondstrom webcam. I have two in the system + a Brio. The Brio and first Sondstrom worked but the second didn't. Tried unplugging and plugging in multiple times, but in the end I *think* what did it was leaving the source name as whatever OBS chose, instead of renaming it. Might be coincidence but it's the first time it's worked all night so...it's worth a shot I guess?
Having an issue with my Razer Kiyo Pro that suddenly decided to stop functioning in OBS for no apparent reason, and I've tried damn near every fix out there, including the ones shown in this video. What happens is that I open OBS, my webcam turns on, but nothing displays whatsoever, and I only have this issue with OBS. Discord shows my camera just fine, the camera app on my computer shows it just fine, it shows up in Razer Synapse just fine, and I only ever have issues with OBS.
Check if there are any updates available for OBS and install them. Try resetting OBS to its default settings. Try using the webcam with a different video capture software to see if it's an OBS issue. Make sure that the webcam is selected as the default video source in OBS. Check the connection between the webcam and the computer to ensure that it is secure. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the webcam drivers.
Greg, Nicely done. The first two options did not work but the advanced graphics settings did the trick - that is going to save me a ton of work since I had so many profiles and filters set on current camera. Going to remember this and when I get around to my OBS for TH-cam channel playlist I plan on adding this video / your channel as a source for help - Thanks again for the help!

weird for me both my cams worked before not sure what happened. But started happening since I added another 4 port USB hub to my pc. So only one cam was on at a time for some reason. To solve the issue I deactivated one and actived to the other and just kept going back and forth on the two and saving as I activated and deactived and on the 2nd go around both activated worked. thanks for the tip from this video!

Have a new issue: I can only get one of my two webcams to move at a time. Using external and integrated. Whichever one I add or activate second is moving, and the prior one is visible but frozen. I tried all the tricks in this video. Any other tricks? Thx!!! Dave
Oh this happens sometimes to me too. I believe this is an OBS issue and will prob get resolved with the latest updates in the future. The only fix I've found around this (annoyingly) is to remove all cameras, then add them back.
Still isn’t working for me. I’m trying to stream a camera off TikTok live studio and the other camera off obs studio, whichever service I load up first is the one that gets the camera. The other one just doesn’t ever show. Both cameras work it’s just whichever I select first is the only one displaying. Any fix?
Hi Greg. I'm still having trouble. I tried all of these things. I have four cameras attached and on my Windows 10 PC, they worked fine. I've gotten a new computer that supports Windows 11 and am now having trouble with one camera, my Ausdom FD camera. I am able to see the camera using the Amcap app so I know the camera works. I don't run both apps at the same time, I just used Amcap to see if I could get the camera to work, eliminating suspects like a driver, USB port, or cable issue. Since Amcap can get the camera to work, OBS should be able to. OBS just doesn't start the camera. Black preview and all. I have deleted the source from OBS, shutdown OBS, my computer, unplugged the cable - etc. ad nauseum to no effect. I even went into the security settings where it said that the Ausdom camera was currently in use by OBS, still a black screen. Any other ideas?
Good video but it still didn't solve my problem. My camera works fine and did work in OBS but suddently quit working. I've done everything you mentioned plus rebooted my computer. I would appreciate any other ideas that can solve this problem
Hello Greg, I have done everything you suggested even the more advanced level and my OBS virtual camera is not working. My 2nd camera (Logitech webcam) works, but was not working hours ago when I opened up OBS, haha. I figured out the Logitech webcam, but now my iPhone is not visible. I'm totally fed up and frustrated. I do have a virtual webcam showing up in Controls. When I activate the virtual webcam in the controls, a blank screen appears. I also have uninstalled and reinstalled OBS a few times. Thanks for your knowledge.
One common cause of the OBS camera not working is the format and resolution of the webcam. You can try to change the output settings in OBS Studio and see if that fixes the error. Another possible cause is that some applications may not be compatible with the OBS Studio virtual camera. For example, Safari, FaceTime, Photo Booth, Bluejeans Events and Tencent Meeting are known to not work with it. You can try to use a different app or follow some suggestions to make the virtual camera available to other applications. If you are using an iOS device as a camera source, you may need to unplug your device, force close the Camera for OBS Studio app on your device, and restart OBS Studio on your computer. Then you can reconnect your device and open the app again. I hope this helps.

none of these fixes worked for me. I have 3 Logitech c922 webcams which was working perfectly last live stream I did a few days ago. Nothing has changed on the pc however the main face cam has this issue. but the other 2 c922 cams dont have the issue and show preview just fine. Tried the non working cam in obs on another pc and it worked just fine. tried different moving to differrent usb ports/hubs, reinstalling obs etc to no avail. I just dont get it all three cams are the same model and was working perfectly just 2 days ago. Anyone have any ideas???
My depstech webcam still gives just a black screen. I've used a different webcam and it works just fine. I may have to just replace it. But I was hoping it was just an error on my part. I've updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled them.
man, my problem is that not only i have a black screen during the game capture, but when i add the camera device i can only do it manually, the program can't see my camera depstech camera, and i think that's the same reason why the game capture show a black screen, cause it can't see the camera by default. i tried all solution i found online, none of them work, i got a Rog laptop.
Hi - great video, but it didn't solve my problem. I have 3 cameras: Dell 4K (WB7022), iContact Pro 4K, and I use Camo Studio to make my phone a web cam. I can put the Dell and Camo cameras into a scene and they work as expected. But the iContact camera is a black box. I've tried all the tricks in you video without success. The iContact camero is working; I can see it in Windows 11 device manager, I can select it as a camera in Teams, etc. Here's the weird thing. I can add the iContact camera to Camo Stuio, and then use the Camo virtual camera in OBS and it works. Which isn't really a work around since now I can't use my phone as a camera. Any ideas?
It sounds like OBS may have a compatibility issue with the iContact Pro 4K camera. Here are a few more things to try: OBS Compatibility Mode: Run OBS in compatibility mode (right-click on the OBS shortcut > Properties > Compatibility tab > select Windows 10 compatibility). Update iContact Drivers: Make sure the iContact Pro camera has the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website, as OBS can be sensitive to outdated drivers. Disable Hardware Acceleration in OBS: Sometimes OBS’s hardware acceleration can conflict with certain cameras. In OBS, go to Settings > Advanced > and try turning off Hardware Acceleration. Test with a Different Capture Software: Try another video capture software to see if the iContact Pro 4K has a similar issue outside OBS, which could help identify if it’s a broader compatibility issue.

Hey bro, i have an issue i dunno if you're able to help me. Whilst using either OBS or StreamlabsOBS (Streamlabs being the one i used most) I would open the camera and it would just forever loads. Then i cannot select, click or even close the application without having to go through Task manager. Do you have any idea of what the issue could be?
Ok i fixed it myself but will leave this comment here for anyone else who might have this issue. Vseeface was interfering with the software. Uninstall the vtuber software and it will fix it all. you can then reinstall it and i think vseeface will work again
so my issue is when i go to Resolution/FPS Type and change it to custom, it goes to a black screen...the Weird part is that on other Scene Collections it's working but my new scene collection it's not
Hi. My obs shows my C920 or integrated webcam in black & white only. When I close obs it works in normal colour to capture pics or video. Really confused. Any help?
Have you got a filter applied for your camera in obs? Right click your camera in obs and select filter and see. Also: Make sure the "Video Format" is set to "Any" or a format that supports color (like MJPEG or YUY2).
What happens when you change the resolution? Also, make sure to shut down all programs, then start OBS again. If a camera driver is being used by another program there can be conflicts.
You saved me! I was seeing my webcam in the add device screen but just black screen on the main window. I didn't know about 'fit to screen' until you used it on the second one, so I thought I'd try it and it worked! Thanks ☺
I have tried tons of methods and just cant get 3 cameras at once. I am using a brand new PC with a Geforce GTX 1660 Super, 16gig Ram, AMD Ryzen 7. I can get 2 webcams to show up but the 3rd refuses. A little red square appears top left but I cant grab it or move it. I even installed a new USB card to give me more ports to try and it doesnt work either. Help is much appreciated.
@@LetMeFixIT I finally found a fix, they were all the same cameras so I returned 2 and bought 2 different cameras and now all 3 show up in OBS. All I could think of was they were all labeled the same and for some reason it appeared OBS didnt know what to do. Now I have 3 different cameras they all work.
Mine shows up as a black screen but the audio from the camera still goes through, I’m using a older camera but I have an adapter to be able to plug it in to my pc but the video won’t go through :( I’m using a Sony handycam, trv108

Yes and thank you for responding! It's a pretty standard plug in I think. The capture card is plugged in via the provided USB cord into my PC on the same side where the HDMI port is located. Therefore the HDMI cord is pluggin into the capture card and into the HDMI port on the camera. It seems the PC is reading the card as a pop up reading "Setting Up GameCapture" appeared when I plugged in for the very first time. I turn on the camera and open OBS, create Video Capture Device and eventually go to Properties and select GameCapture from the drop down and still nothing. Any ideas? Thanks again!
Nothing works. The weird thing is, I am just setting up a new scenecollection. In the other scene it works, in the new one only blackscreen. I even removed the cam from the other collection, and restartet OBS, but doesn't work.
I've come across weird stuff like this too recently and I found for some reason that changing USB ports work. Also I removed my camera from a USB hub. That helped it detect.
i did the one where you add it to the graphics. i still have no access to finding the source layer on my scene at all. the camera works and it moves but its not showing up on my scene at all. everything is up to date
I'm using the integrated webcam so I can't unplug a USB cable to try your second solution. I did try changing the graphics option from "let windows decide" to each of the other options, and it didn't help.
Have you loaded the camera app to see if it's the camera? Also, make sure to check the privacy settings by going to windows>privacy>camera - here, make sure OBS is allowed to use the camera.
@@LetMeFixIT OBS appears to be allowed to use the camera, because when I click on "configure video," the window for the camera settings pops up, and the camera is working there. But it has the black screen in the bigger box that shows when you're not configuring video, when you're actually recording. The camera also works fine on the native Windows camera app, and so that's what I'm actually using most of the time to record since I can't get rid of the black screen issue. But I'd rather use OBS.
@@LetMeFixIT It appears that the problem has something to do with the red line that is appearing in the middle of the black screen whenever I click on "configure video." I have OBS working just fine on a different computer. On that computer when I open the program there are two red lines, one on each side of the video feed. These can be dragged apart if desired, making the square larger or smaller. On the comp. where it isn't working, there is only *one* red line, vertical, undraggable, that says "1163 px" next to it, which is a huge number compared to the working version. This seems to be the source of the problem, but I can't find anything to fix it. Right clicking or left clicking don't give me any opportunity to drag it; the line just appears or disappears.
@@LetMeFixIT Aha! My husband fixed it! He right clicked and then found the place in the long list where it says "resize (source size)" and the proper red box showed up immediately when he clicked that, with the camera feed visible in it. So that is apparently sometimes what people mean when they are getting a "black screen" is something fixed by that. (In my case it was a black screen with a single vertical red line.)
I have a related issue. I cannot get a second webcam to work. After adding the first no other webcams will show up. I've tried using universal drivers, putting them on different usb hubs ... nothing can you help?
You have 2 gopros? Did you try creating a separate instance for each camera or did you choose the same instance for both? (ie, when using obs, do you know which is which when selecting?) I suppose one way you can test is to add one camera first, make sure it works, then turn off the first and add the other. I'm curious about this one, let me know how you go.
If this is the only way to resolve it, you can always get a cheap usb hub with on/off switch. I recently got one from temu and it's pretty easy to just turn it on and off at the hub.
It's possible that the second duplicated webcam is not properly configured or is not compatible with the filter overlay effects in OBS. First, make sure that the webcam is properly connected and recognized by your computer. You can do this by checking the device manager in your computer's settings. If the webcam is properly connected and recognized, try adjusting the settings for the filter overlay effects in OBS. You may need to change the resolution or aspect ratio of the webcam or adjust the settings for the filter itself.

Press + to add a device. Here are some instructions: Add your webcam as a source Open OBS Studio. Click on the + icon at the bottom of the window in the Sources box and add Video Capture Device. Click on Create New and name your device however you like. Then, select your webcam in the Device drop-down menu.

it worked right up till OBS froze on me opening.... I saw my camera blink on.. then froze... the only program thats working with it is discord...and going to settings.. it just sits and does nothing, Ive reinstalled the drivers... I Did the graphiics settings..... then streamlabs obs froze on me and i had to endtask.... im getting driven nuts
There's a new patch out so maybe that might help. Otherwise I find that unplugging the camera then plugging it back in while obs is still running worked for me.
Activating and Deactivating the camera has always worked for my camera Freezing, but how can I get rid of the freezing? Sometimes it happens every 10 minutes and it's frustrating going back to the deactivate/activate process, does anybody know how to actually fix the freezing problem? Thanks beforehand
That could mean you have something running in the background using the camera driver. Exit all software, even from the mini tray and then exit obs. Run obs again and try again. This happens to me when I use discord first and the load OBS.

What webcam is it? Also, have you tried updating the firmware and the drivers? In the same way, check to see that your graphics card drivers are updated too. Let me know how you go :)
Camera is fine and connected but in obs studio under device I only see obs virtual camera, 2weeks ago it was working just fine. Everything is up-to-date I’m in the correct USB three but for some reason won’t show up in OBS but camera works on all my other apps
My camera works, but when I try to set the setting to my monitor resolution so that I have a full screen of my camera, the camera disappears.. camera is 1080 and screen is 2560

Start by restarting both OBS and your computer. This can sometimes do the trick. Check if you've selected your webcam as the video source in OBS. If not, go to "Sources" and add your webcam. Make sure your webcam drivers are up to date. Try using OBS with another application to see if it works, if it does then the issue might be with OBS itself. Unplug your webcam and plug it back in, then try using it in OBS again.

As in a USB video capture device? You have to pick the driver that's running the device. I've used it before and it works. (The one I used was an HDMI capture device - usb) If it's just a webcam, you have to make sure you don't have discord or other video apps running first. Turn them all off then restart OBS and try again. Then, you can turn the other ones on.

If you can help I'd appreciate it, my second camera on OBS still won't come up and show it's picture. The camera works but never at the same time as the main one. I've done everything I can find and I can't get the second camera to work. I'm pulling my hair out here.
@@LetMeFixIT I spent half a day trying fixes including exploring system settings. I have decided to ditch OBS because it seems really flaky - it doesn't even support 2 cameras.
OBS.exe is the 32-bit version and OBS64.exe is the 64-bit version of OBS, with the latter optimized for better performance on 64-bit operating systems, but choosing between them won't directly fix webcam camera black screen or freezing issues which require specific troubleshooting
It's possible that your settings in OBS may be the cause of the black screen with your webcam. Here are a few settings you can check to try and resolve the issue: Go to "Settings" in OBS and select "Video." Make sure the resolution and fps settings match the capabilities of your webcam. In "Settings" select "Audio" and make sure that the correct audio source is selected for your webcam. Go to "Sources" in OBS and make sure that your webcam is selected and positioned correctly. Try disabling any other sources that may be causing conflicts with your webcam.
none of these fixed my problem, i had the black screen issue after updating to obs 29, also tried different camera with same effect, i think it works if i re add the source but then i lose a bunch of filters
did you ever get it solved? Im having this issue now as well. Yes, sometimes this happens. I'm not sure if it's the driver or OBS. This happened to me the other day on the logitech too because maybe I have two instances of the camera? The best way I've found was to remove the camera via obs and then add it again. Failing that, uninstall obs so there are no residue cache files and reinstall. I've had no issues with my gopro though.
You might want to free up more memory? Freezing is usually because of lack of memory or even drive space (your computer uses space as virtual memory) Try ending the tasks on all other programs, then try again. (especially your virus cleaner)
Sorry I missed seeing this message! Sounds to me that irun and obs are both trying to use the same device. This won't work since sometimes windows only allows one program to use one device at a time. You may need to speak with the developers of irun to see if they can put in an option to turn off using the device when you run other applications that call for the same camera to be used.

In my case I fixed the black screen manually selecting the cam resolution in the options (it was in let device choose)

For me changing the USB socket, solved it.
(Possibly it wasn't plugged into a USB of a old version)

If you are using an iOS device as a camera source, you may need to unplug your device, force close the Camera for OBS Studio app on your device, and restart OBS Studio on your computer. Then you can reconnect your device and open the app again.

none of these fixes worked for me. I have 3 Logitech c922 webcams which was working perfectly last live stream I did a few days ago. Nothing has changed on the pc however the main face cam has this issue. but the other 2 c922 cams dont have the issue and show preview just fine. Tried the non working cam in obs on another pc and it worked just fine. tried different moving to differrent usb ports/hubs, reinstalling obs etc to no avail. I just dont get it all three cams are the same model and was working perfectly just 2 days ago. Anyone have any ideas???
My depstech webcam still gives just a black screen. I've used a different webcam and it works just fine. I may have to just replace it. But I was hoping it was just an error on my part. I've updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled them.

man, my problem is that not only i have a black screen during the game capture, but when i add the camera device i can only do it manually, the program can't see my camera depstech camera, and i think that's the same reason why the game capture show a black screen, cause it can't see the camera by default. i tried all solution i found online, none of them work, i got a Rog laptop.
Hi - great video, but it didn't solve my problem. I have 3 cameras: Dell 4K (WB7022), iContact Pro 4K, and I use Camo Studio to make my phone a web cam. I can put the Dell and Camo cameras into a scene and they work as expected. But the iContact camera is a black box. I've tried all the tricks in you video without success. The iContact camero is working; I can see it in Windows 11 device manager, I can select it as a camera in Teams, etc. Here's the weird thing. I can add the iContact camera to Camo Stuio, and then use the Camo virtual camera in OBS and it works. Which isn't really a work around since now I can't use my phone as a camera. Any ideas?
It sounds like OBS may have a compatibility issue with the iContact Pro 4K camera. Here are a few more things to try:
OBS Compatibility Mode: Run OBS in compatibility mode (right-click on the OBS shortcut > Properties > Compatibility tab > select Windows 10 compatibility).
Update iContact Drivers: Make sure the iContact Pro camera has the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website, as OBS can be sensitive to outdated drivers.
Disable Hardware Acceleration in OBS: Sometimes OBS’s hardware acceleration can conflict with certain cameras. In OBS, go to Settings > Advanced > and try turning off Hardware Acceleration.
Test with a Different Capture Software: Try another video capture software to see if the iContact Pro 4K has a similar issue outside OBS, which could help identify if it’s a broader compatibility issue.

Hey bro, i have an issue i dunno if you're able to help me. Whilst using either OBS or StreamlabsOBS (Streamlabs being the one i used most) I would open the camera and it would just forever loads. Then i cannot select, click or even close the application without having to go through Task manager. Do you have any idea of what the issue could be?
Ok i fixed it myself but will leave this comment here for anyone else who might have this issue. Vseeface was interfering with the software. Uninstall the vtuber software and it will fix it all. you can then reinstall it and i think vseeface will work again
so my issue is when i go to Resolution/FPS Type and change it to custom, it goes to a black screen...the Weird part is that on other Scene Collections it's working but my new scene collection it's not

Have you got a filter applied for your camera in obs? Right click your camera in obs and select filter and see. Also:
Make sure the "Video Format" is set to "Any" or a format that supports color (like MJPEG or YUY2).
I have the chromokey filter as I use a green screen but that always worked fine before

What happens when you change the resolution? Also, make sure to shut down all programs, then start OBS again. If a camera driver is being used by another program there can be conflicts.

I have tried tons of methods and just cant get 3 cameras at once. I am using a brand new PC with a Geforce GTX 1660 Super, 16gig Ram, AMD Ryzen 7. I can get 2 webcams to show up but the 3rd refuses. A little red square appears top left but I cant grab it or move it. I even installed a new USB card to give me more ports to try and it doesnt work either. Help is much appreciated.
Are they really high-resolution cameras? You may be hitting the bandwidth for your USB if you're using all of them via a hub for instance.
@@LetMeFixIT I finally found a fix, they were all the same cameras so I returned 2 and bought 2 different cameras and now all 3 show up in OBS. All I could think of was they were all labeled the same and for some reason it appeared OBS didnt know what to do. Now I have 3 different cameras they all work.

Yes and thank you for responding! It's a pretty standard plug in I think. The capture card is plugged in via the provided USB cord into my PC on the same side where the HDMI port is located. Therefore the HDMI cord is pluggin into the capture card and into the HDMI port on the camera. It seems the PC is reading the card as a pop up reading "Setting Up GameCapture" appeared when I plugged in for the very first time. I turn on the camera and open OBS, create Video Capture Device and eventually go to Properties and select GameCapture from the drop down and still nothing. Any ideas? Thanks again!

In the other scene it works, in the new one only blackscreen.
I even removed the cam from the other collection, and restartet OBS, but doesn't work.
I've come across weird stuff like this too recently and I found for some reason that changing USB ports work. Also I removed my camera from a USB hub. That helped it detect.
i did the one where you add it to the graphics. i still have no access to finding the source layer on my scene at all. the camera works and it moves but its not showing up on my scene at all. everything is up to date
Sometimes when that happens I uncheck the lock button so I can select it. I uncheck the one I want and lock all the other ones I don't want.
I'm using the integrated webcam so I can't unplug a USB cable to try your second solution. I did try changing the graphics option from "let windows decide" to each of the other options, and it didn't help.
Have you loaded the camera app to see if it's the camera? Also, make sure to check the privacy settings by going to windows>privacy>camera - here, make sure OBS is allowed to use the camera.
@@LetMeFixIT OBS appears to be allowed to use the camera, because when I click on "configure video," the window for the camera settings pops up, and the camera is working there. But it has the black screen in the bigger box that shows when you're not configuring video, when you're actually recording. The camera also works fine on the native Windows camera app, and so that's what I'm actually using most of the time to record since I can't get rid of the black screen issue. But I'd rather use OBS.
@@LetMeFixIT It appears that the problem has something to do with the red line that is appearing in the middle of the black screen whenever I click on "configure video." I have OBS working just fine on a different computer. On that computer when I open the program there are two red lines, one on each side of the video feed. These can be dragged apart if desired, making the square larger or smaller. On the comp. where it isn't working, there is only *one* red line, vertical, undraggable, that says "1163 px" next to it, which is a huge number compared to the working version. This seems to be the source of the problem, but I can't find anything to fix it. Right clicking or left clicking don't give me any opportunity to drag it; the line just appears or disappears.
@@LetMeFixIT Aha! My husband fixed it! He right clicked and then found the place in the long list where it says "resize (source size)" and the proper red box showed up immediately when he clicked that, with the camera feed visible in it. So that is apparently sometimes what people mean when they are getting a "black screen" is something fixed by that. (In my case it was a black screen with a single vertical red line.)
I have a related issue. I cannot get a second webcam to work. After adding the first no other webcams will show up. I've tried using universal drivers, putting them on different usb hubs ... nothing can you help?
You have 2 gopros? Did you try creating a separate instance for each camera or did you choose the same instance for both? (ie, when using obs, do you know which is which when selecting?) I suppose one way you can test is to add one camera first, make sure it works, then turn off the first and add the other. I'm curious about this one, let me know how you go.
I have to unplug usb webcam and plug it again. So do you have any others way to fix it because I think this way is so inconvenient
If this is the only way to resolve it, you can always get a cheap usb hub with on/off switch. I recently got one from temu and it's pretty easy to just turn it on and off at the hub.

Press + to add a device. Here are some instructions:
Add your webcam as a source
Open OBS Studio. Click on the + icon at the bottom of the window in the Sources box and add Video Capture Device. Click on Create New and name your device however you like. Then, select your webcam in the Device drop-down menu.

it worked right up till OBS froze on me opening.... I saw my camera blink on.. then froze... the only program thats working with it is discord...and going to settings.. it just sits and does nothing, Ive reinstalled the drivers... I Did the graphiics settings..... then streamlabs obs froze on me and i had to endtask.... im getting driven nuts
There's a new patch out so maybe that might help. Otherwise I find that unplugging the camera then plugging it back in while obs is still running worked for me.
Activating and Deactivating the camera has always worked for my camera Freezing, but how can I get rid of the freezing? Sometimes it happens every 10 minutes and it's frustrating going back to the deactivate/activate process, does anybody know how to actually fix the freezing problem? Thanks beforehand

That could mean you have something running in the background using the camera driver. Exit all software, even from the mini tray and then exit obs. Run obs again and try again. This happens to me when I use discord first and the load OBS.

What webcam is it? Also, have you tried updating the firmware and the drivers? In the same way, check to see that your graphics card drivers are updated too. Let me know how you go :)
Camera is fine and connected but in obs studio under device I only see obs virtual camera, 2weeks ago it was working just fine. Everything is up-to-date I’m in the correct USB three but for some reason won’t show up in OBS but camera works on all my other apps
Have you updated to latest firmware? What about turning off power saving mode on the usb controller?
My camera works, but when I try to set the setting to my monitor resolution so that I have a full screen of my camera, the camera disappears.. camera is 1080 and screen is 2560
click on your camera from the sources area and press control F - that's the shortcut for fit to screen.

My one is just completely not working, I can see it in the drop-down menu and it works on every other software but OBS. I've done all the stops and nothing works!
Start by restarting both OBS and your computer. This can sometimes do the trick.
Check if you've selected your webcam as the video source in OBS. If not, go to "Sources" and add your webcam.
Make sure your webcam drivers are up to date.
Try using OBS with another application to see if it works, if it does then the issue might be with OBS itself.
Unplug your webcam and plug it back in, then try using it in OBS again.

As in a USB video capture device? You have to pick the driver that's running the device. I've used it before and it works. (The one I used was an HDMI capture device - usb) If it's just a webcam, you have to make sure you don't have discord or other video apps running first. Turn them all off then restart OBS and try again. Then, you can turn the other ones on.

What's the difference between OBS.exe and OBS64.exe? If there is beyond the game?
OBS.exe is the 32-bit version and OBS64.exe is the 64-bit version of OBS, with the latter optimized for better performance on 64-bit operating systems, but choosing between them won't directly fix webcam camera black screen or freezing issues which require specific troubleshooting

make sure you are not running the obsbot tiny preview screen otherwise it won't work. OBS only knows how to process one video feed at a time.

Yes, sometimes this happens. I'm not sure if it's the driver or OBS. This happened to me the other day on the logitech too because maybe I have two instances of the camera? The best way I've found was to remove the camera via obs and then add it again. Failing that, uninstall obs so there are no residue cache files and reinstall. I've had no issues with my gopro though.

You might want to free up more memory? Freezing is usually because of lack of memory or even drive space (your computer uses space as virtual memory) Try ending the tasks on all other programs, then try again. (especially your virus cleaner)

I figured it out. It was a problem with the 29.1.10 update. Something about it mixed with the current nvidia driver that causes it to run terribly

Sorry I missed seeing this message! Sounds to me that irun and obs are both trying to use the same device. This won't work since sometimes windows only allows one program to use one device at a time. You may need to speak with the developers of irun to see if they can put in an option to turn off using the device when you run other applications that call for the same camera to be used.

Some webcams have a slider. Does yours have a slider that you can physically move over so it uncovers the webcam?
