- Installed a Scorpion Exhaust Muffler on my 330xi. Would have shown a full install video but I was swearing too much and decided to only show you the before and after vids, stock exhaust sound to Scorpion sound. ;)

I have a 320i 2004 2,2i 6 cylinder with Scorpion cat back system. Im pretty happy about the way the car sounds now.
I got a 2003 330ci and I did a muffler delete on it and it sounds pretty good it's not as obnoxious as people say. deep and not too loud.
I can hear my subwoofer working when the Scorpion kicks in. Whoever says stock sounds better - upgrade your speakers and re-watch.

I just received mine today. I didn't realize how large the tips would be. These look like something someone would put on a Honda Civic. Mine are straight cut, not angled. I hope it looks better installed and sounds as good as your.
Yeah, I just looked. Looks like they only sell the straight cut one now. I'm sure it'll sound good though.

Very nice. Have this very one in my wish list at Bavauto. Is there any problems with droning? Any advice on cutting it to proper length? I know some of the axle back setups come with a template.
No droning surprisingly. In fact, even with the resonators removed the sound didn't intrude into the interior much at all. Just a nice overall sound.

@@drexellake4051 - Cool, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! As far as cutting the right length, I held the new muffler against the old one and marked approx. where to cut. With that said, I was at the very short limit and had to pull the muffler backwards on the hangers to clamp it together. My suggestion would be to actually measure the pipes out of the back of the Scorpion and then measure on the stock exhaust pipes from the muffler back but leave an extra 1/16th to 1/8th inch for safe measure. So if the pipes coming out of the Scorpion muffler are 6 inches, measure back from the stock muffler 5 and 7/8ths inch to get you cut point. Better a bit long than short.
Thanks for posting this! I have been wanting to get this Exhaust but wanted to know what it sounded like. Do they give you any noticeable hp gains?
Trey Williams - I only put the Scorpion exhaust muffler on at this point, everything else forward of that was still stock, so not really any noticeable hp gains that could be readily felt. Later I deleted the resonators and put a supercharger on but still most the exhaust was stock.

Did you have to weld this or did it bolt on?
Bolt on. But you have to cut your oem pipes just back from the muffler and make sure you don't cut them too short.

No need any cuts muffler going bolt in ?
The opposite, you need to cut the OEM muffler off, then the Scorpion simply bolts on. So you have to make sure you cut the old pipe close enough so the new exhaust pipe overlaps it by an inch (25mm), or so.

Did you cut you out the resonator?
Not for this video, but later on I did as I wanted a bit more volume out of it.
Blake D Both resonators later on. I've got a video up of a drive with the Mic mounted just above the exhaust running an ESS Supercharger, stock headers, both resonators cut out and the Scorpion exhaust.
+Blake D in all honesty, even with both resonators cut out, from inside the car it was never loud. Outside it sounds awesome but not exceptionally loud either. But for me, I never wanted in-your-face loudness, just enough to know it was a high performance car.
Does the exhaust drone?
No, it didn't. In fact, at first this was just a muffler change out. I still found it underwhelming within the vehicle. I wanted a more sporty growl, so I then had both resonators removed. This was more to my liking and yet, at no time, did the exhaust note drone within the cab.
