I wrote a 17 year old kid a ticket for 114 in a 45, when I asked him why he was driving so fast he said his girlfriend was late getting home. I kept his license and followed him to drop his girl off and wrote a ticket for speeding 114/45. You would think I had let the Zodiac Killer go free. I was given an involuntary unpaid vacation of two weeks. I was told it was reckless driving/endangerment and I should have brought him in and made him post a cash bond. But had the kid not stopped when I turned my lights on I probably wouldn’t have caught him. I was sitting on the side of the road and he just came over a hill fairly close to me. He stopped so fast when I pulled out I had to back up a little before I could pull in behind him. This was 1993/4 or so I was in a pre-whale caprice it could only do around 125... long story short about 10 years ago I got pulled over a couple towns over from where I used to work for 95 in 65. I have been out of law enforcement for 20+ years so I don’t even bother trying to get out of it. The cop takes my license and says did you use to work in such and such city? I did. It was the kid, not really a kid anymore, I got the 2 week suspension for not arresting. I filled him in and we had a good laugh. He didn’t offer to repay my lost wages though, lol.
Many moons ago I was out rippin my 92 camaro on a country road and passed a cop at 110+. Didn't realize it was a cop until 10 minutes later when he caught up to me. Needless to say he was pissed, took my info and went to write me a ticket. Came back in about 1-2 minutes and said "it's your lucky day kid, I have a more important call to go to"... "Oh, and I called your dad". Turned out it wasn't my lucky day because my old man was this cops DS in the Army. Would have preferred the ticket but that rip was worth it.
I was doing about 170 on my gsxr1000 on hwy 44 in Missouri. Just bought it, not registered yet, insured but no card yet, and didn't even have my motorcycle endorsement. Passed a state trooper sitting on the shoulder, knew he was going to try to get me, also knew I could have easily taken one of the next few exits and never been seen again, but instead for some reason I decided to go ahead and pull over and see what happens. By the time he caught up to me I was off the bike, helmet off, standing there smoking a cigarette. He overshot me and had to back down the shoulder like a quarter mile to get back to me. Asks me wtf was I doing, told him I just got the bike, long straight empty section of highway and just wanted to see what it could do. Takes my papers, goes back to his car and comes back 5 minutes later and hands me everything back. Turns out he was so happy I actually stopped and didn't try to run he didn't give me a single ticket, not even a non-moving violation for the registration. Just told me to slow it down and enjoy my ride. Yes sir 👍✌️
I was once caught doing 155mph in my friend's VF HSV Clubsport GTSR on an outback highway in the Aussie Bush. Coppa pulled me over, looked at the car, looked at me, gave me a thumbs up and said 'Send it'. Best time of my life. And no theres no speed limits there. That cop was returning from an emergency call
Got pulled over doing 117 in Maryland a couple decades ago. I knew I was screwed, everyone told me I was screwed, my lawyer was like "you might be screwed" etc etc. Well apparently the forms the cops filled out had been replaced with new ones at the beginning of that year, and they had messed up and used the old ones for my paperwork. My lawyer spotted it, pointed it out to the judge, the judge looked down at the paperwork, (and I'll never forget) looked up straight dead eye at the ADA and said "Case dismissed." It's been almost 25 years and don't think I've ever gone more than 8mph over the limit. My young dumb ass shoulda been f'ed 12 ways to Sunday.
A girlfriend in college jumped a curb in the parking lot of her dorm coming home from the bars and the cops happened to see it. During her DUI arrest they might have just happened to find a bunch of fake id's that she had just made for her friends in her center console. Arrested booked jailed the works. The police used the wrong paperwork and she walked out with only a lawyer fee. This was in Maryland, just over twenty years ago lol.
maryland not that bad anymore i wasnt going 117 but i was still reckless driving it was a 50 zone and i was doing 89 cop got me as soon i i wa coming round the turn down a mountain. he asked way i was speeding i told him i live in a flat area down south 10min from Virginia im not use to the mountain and how fast my car can accelerate from climbing to going down that mountain. he made a chuckle and said i like how you stopped (i hit the dirt as soon as i saw his lights and pelted the bottom half of my car full of dirt lol) i reply im glad you got something funny out of it. he left maybe 5 mins later gave me a speeding ticket dropping it down to 60. i paid that 89 dollar ticket with a smile.
Been stopped at near 100 in MD let off with no ticket, was very late and I was driving a friend's car after mine broke down, maybe some sympathy from the officer
I got pulled over by an undercover cop doing 110 in a 70. I was on my way to school for a final and told him that. He said slow it down and let me go with a verbal warning.
@@whatcouldgowrong6224 well that's the thing I thought this Chevy SUV wanted to race.. I was behind him doing 90 and went around him to see if he wanted to have fun. He didn't want to have any fun :(
I was sleeping but my wife was doin 120 in a 70. We were at the end of a 16 hr drive from Mississippi to Oklahoma. Well highway patrol pulls up next to her and just shakes his finger at her. Needles to say she slowed down. He was in a 3 car convoy or he prob would have got her.
I got caught doing 130 in a 65 and cop let me off with a warning. I said my mom was gonna beat my ass if I was late for dinner again, and he literally said "I hear ya"
I got the same in Jacksonville back in 2011, 26 in a 25. You would have thought I was doing 100 running from the police. The officer was so rude, I had said well write my ticket and I'll be on my way. I would have dragged that officer into court. They refused to write me a ticket, and told me they did not want to see me again today🤣. Complete power trip. Id just come off of being Federal Law enforcement officer for ten years and 5 as a trainer. It had to be that cops first day on the job. They were so green I could smell it.
Measly 79 in a 55. I paid the ticket online. They sent the super speeder ticket part to an old address--tacked on to the regular ticket since it was 20 over. My license got revoked because I never paid that part. Love it when I get served and protected.
That sounds like a fun road trip. A lot of companies are organizing events like that. For those that haven't visited the National Parks in the Mid-West - it is DEFINITELY worth the trip. The NPs are amazing (Yellowstone) and beautiful (Arches).
I got a 85 in our company van a few months ago. Didn’t realize they had speed cameras yet in my state... 😅😂 thankfully I guess the first time for every vehicle is a warning, and i was the vans first. Funny thing is I rarely drive for my work, I just was filling in for someone. Ive also owned and daily a modified mustang for over 4 years and I’ve never been pulled over in it.
How many people would be driving a carpet cleaning van full of water or not if it wasn’t a work vehicle? I think I have seen more people driving a hurst then a carpet cleaner.
I was on recruiting duty, doing 106ish in a Dodge Stratus (Govt. Plates and in uniform) on my way from Oklahoma City to Dallas shortly after 9/11. Cop pulled me over, saw who I was, and was told to keep it reasonable and let go.
I was home doing recruiter assistance program right after basic and tech school, recruiter had me go and chat with a guy like an hour away, gave me the GOV etc. Was in uniform, etc. I was flying through the back roads to get to this kids house, had to be doing at least 80 in a 45 and I see a cop out of the corner of my eye. He gets behind me, and I'm sure I'm screwed. Then, I'm assuming, he sees the gov plates and the next thing I know he turns off. Did the speed limit the entire rest of the way. Lol
I am 17, i was going 100 in a 55, state trooper got me, i stopped and was very respectful, he gave me nothing other than a court date. Went to court, pled guilty because there was no way possible he was wrong, (plus i was actually going 110 and spotted him and slammed the brakes so i guess i got down to 100 by the time he clocked me) and i got a 350$ fine, nothing else, walked down stairs paid the ticket walked out the door and was done with it. I am one of those people that will learn a lesson and not make the same mistake again (mind you on top of that i also had a month time that i got to reconsider my driving habits and fear of what would happen between when i got the ticket and when the date was actually scheduled for) so i think God had mercy on me and i learned one hell of a lesson.
My worst ticket was doing 95 in a 50 on the Palisades parkway in Jersey. Misdemeanor, $400 fine, license suspended for 3 months. That was in 2016. In 2019 I got pulled over on the Jersey Turnpike doing 90 in a 65. I tried the method VINwiki has said to do before (I forget who said it) I rolled all my windows down, turned the car off, keys on dash, hands 10-2 and I got let off with a warning and the stop was only 5 minutes. I’ve tried to stay out of Jersey since though 😂
Yes the palisades was really crooked…but thank god everything leaked and everyone realized that they literally had bounties for cops with the most/best tickets…these days are much better
90% of speeding fines are simply taxation. You wanna make the roads safer? Fine the tailgaters, weavers that cut you off, and those who get in front of you and deliberately slow down. Lots of drivers play ego/virtue initiated games in traffic.
@@crankychris2 I mean, discharging your firearm while driving is already super illegal. Thing is, it's hard to actually catch someone and 100% ID them after the fact.
Have done basically the same in Italy, doing 120 on on a 70 section but the cops were just pulling on to road so you are going so fast you are gone before they can read your plate, i pulled off, found a supermarket and went shopping.. ahaha pulse was through the roof..
Driving up to Richmond from NC I saw a cop pull over an old lady doing 75 in a 70. Took a lot of restraint not to pull over and give that cop a good lecture lmao
Only when it’s in va tho cause I just got pulled for doing 99 in a 55 the officer wrote me a ticket but I just don’t want it to increase my insurance mind you I didn’t have a registration but he let me off the hook a little because I was 4 hrs away from home
Since were listing our record tickets, I got “80+” in a 45. Literally that’s what the ticket said because the actual speed didn’t matter since it was max penalty anyways at that point. It was ticketed as criminal speeding which is a misdemeanor and requires a court appearance. Lawyer got it dropped with traffic school that I hacked to finish in 30 minutes. Cost about $1500 though.
Tell me about it i just got ome for doin 112 in a 70 the cop was infront of me while i was doing a pull I didn’t notice til he flipped his ligjts on pulled over told me he had me clocked in at 112 and to hold tight came back with either a citation or a ticket i still dont know
My first ever citation was for 107 in a 70, after a clean record of 3 years. Cop wrote me for full amount and could have cut a me a whole lot of slack with 8mph less. Was @2 AM on I5 with zero traffic out 🤦🏻♂️
I am in similar situation currently. What did you do? Did you hire lawyer or just paid the fine? How many points you got and how did it affect your insurance?
I was so close to getting pulled over @120 on the way to New Jersey from NYC. I was going 120 in my Hyundai Tucson for 2 minutes straight. It was literally max speed of my car and I zoomed past a state trooper that was in the median. I saw that I passed him, kept going 120 for 30 more seconds and camouflaged in the second lane at 75. One minute later I see the cop fly by at 140-150 and he was out 😂
I got a 90 in a 55 some years back. It actually ended up being my cheapest speeding ticket. This was back when the nation wide 55mph law was in effect, so this stretch of road was formerly a 70mph zone, so it was effectively a 90 in a 70. It was also in Indiana. My other tickets were in MI and WI where they charge much more for speeding tickets.
It's so easy to hit 100 by accident- leaving Chicago last week in my MOMS JETTA I realised I was doing 100 just to keep up with traffic. I was in the right lane getting frequently passed, while going 100. Speed limits should just be higher
I was clocked 161 in a 35 on my bike. Nice country road with some nice curves and straight aways. I did not pass go or collect $100. Got pretty lucky. Cost $5k, 10 months probation. Nothing happened to my license and went off my record after 5 years.
I grew up on the Outer Banks of NC. About an hour from Virginia Beach. Absolutely worst place to drive. Got a ticket for 3 over once. Couldn’t pay the ticket. Had to show up for court. The awesome judge told the officer to never waste his time with this stuff, and dropped it. They got me for court fees though.
My first ticket at 16 yr old was 101 in a 60... learned so much and luckily judge was a car dude with a turbo viper and liked my car at the local car show. Nobody built ford Mavericks at the time so that helped lol
Got caught 103mph in the desert going to Vegas. Minimum $900 fine... Covid-19 just happened. Courts didn't open until 6 months since the ticket. Hired a lawyer that specializes in that paying $895 smh but ended up getting it dismissed.
My worst was 113 in a 70 at 19. I pulled over immediately and was honest with the officer. He wrote me up for 99 so he didn't have to arrest me and tow my car. It's been 19 years and I haven't had a speeding ticket since.
I got 4 tickets in 2 weeks in my E550 4Matic..... No governor on it, tuned, fresh rubber..... Tickets were 76 in a 35, 97 in a 45, 123 in a 55 and 176 in a 65......the last 2 were at night, 2-4am, 2 days apart..... License lost for 26 months and $4685 paid from start to finish to be able to get it back..... Lesson learned!
This fall it will have been 10 years since I got nabbed doing 131 in a 65. Had a summons to go to court. It was a 12 points and lose your Colorado license kind of infraction. I found a lawyer for a $1000 retainer who got it reduced to 4 points careless driving (not reckless not speeding) plus 40 hours of community service with a $260 fine + court fees. He said I helped him set his state trooper office record for fastest ticket issued.
@@Andnew-tz6df I was clocked by a State Trooper, on I-25 by the World Arena. It was 12 points and going to court was mandatory. Nobody said anything about a misdemeanor although he could have arrested me and impounded my car. In 2011 I was almost 50 yr old and my lung disease had me coughing up blood, so I was racing to the nearest exit. I guess he felt bad for me.
This happened about 25 years ago, it was a beautiful summer day, & I was invited to a big party. Only problem, I wasn't familiar with where it was at, so I had to get to my friends house so I could follow them there. I was bringing my then girlfriend with me, who was extremely good looking, & very blessed in the chest area. I decided to take my 24 car ( 5 speed Plymouth Sundance, painted like Jeff Gordons race car) & it was fast. So as usual we were running late, so I had to take Rt.98 to get to my friends house, so I decided to step on it, & do 98. It's a very hilly 2 lane highway, so I'm flying, & come to the top of one of the hills, & fly by a state trooper, going the opposite way. I look in my rear view mirror, and see him slamming on the brakes, & I knew he would be coming back to visit me. So I drive to the next road on the right that I find, & turn around & sit there & wait until he gets there. All of the time, cursing, saying how screwed I am, & I was going to lose my license. So my girlfriend, who just happened to be wearing a nice button down top (thank god), asked me if I wanted her to help? I looked at her, & said sure, anything you can do to help would be gratefully appreciated. So she proceeded to unbutton about 3 buttons, revealing a beautiful purple lace bra. About that time the Trooper, comes flying by, but sees us, so he slams on the brakes & turns around, & proceeds to park behind me with his lights on. He comes to my window, where I have my license & insurance card waiting. So he looks at me, & asks me where the fires at. So I tell him the truth, about the party, & how I don't know where it's at, & I have to be at my friends house before they leave, & that I was sorry, but I was running late. So my girlfriend at that point, leans forward, & she also apologizes to the Trooper, & says she's to blame, because she wasn't ready on time. Well I saw the Troopers eyes suddenly fixate, on my girlfriends 2 wonderful assets. Well needless to say his whole attitude changed in that moment, & he said he just needed to run my plates & he'd be right back. So he comes back, this time on my girlfriends side of the car, she's got her window rolled down, he looks at me, then her, & says " Well I did meet you at the top of a hill, & so my radar didn't capture how fast you were going, but I know you were way over the speed limit, so this time, I'm going to let you off with a verbal warning, all the time looking at my girlfriends chest." So I let out a huge sigh of relief, & the Trooper says, just be honest with me, how fast were you going, before I could tell him, she looks at him & says 98. I about crapped my pants, I was going to tell him about 80. But he just kept staring at her, & asked her her name, she told him, & he told me, "Please slow down from now on for the sake of your beautiful girlfriend. I watched as she batted those beautiful green eyes at the Trooper, & thanked him for the compliment, & with that he got back in his car & left. I considered myself extremely lucky, leaned over gave her a kiss, & thanked her for her help. Something ingrained in my memory that I will never forget as long as I live.
my only speeding ticket on my record i was going 84 in a 70 for about a 5 mile stretch at 4 am. On that same freeway not an hour earlier, in the opposite direction, i was pulling 120 for a solid 30-40 miles.
Before it started while the commercial played I wondered who was gonna tell the story based on the title.. I guessed rob, then saw this guy... then I find out rob was there, I wasn't that far off I quess.
I got hit at 106 in a 65 by CHP. He wrote my ticket for 80 in a 65, but told me if I try to fight it, he WILL testify it was 106 and have my car impounded and my license suspended. That was the happiest I've ever been paying a ticket.
i get the idea but honestly that sounds like he is willing to perjur himself... i guess not necessarily worth the risk for a 500 bucks + traffic school
I'm not sure how perjury works for speeding tickets. Once had a ticket where cop wrote "actual speed" and 'ticketed speed" I have a feeling if I went to court the judge would throw the book at me, paid the ticket.
I just got a ticket doing 99 in another state and the fact that you are from Virginia makes me feel so much better because that’s where I’m from this really helped me a lot
That's crazy. One time I was stopped for allegedly doing 45 over in a 55. Cop wrote me a ticket for 100/55 and sent me on my way. Called the court a few days later and scheduled a Civil Infraction Conference. Showed up and was handed a paper saying that they'd drop it to Double Parking (no points, doesn't go on your record), I just had to sign saying I agreed to have it dropped to Double Parking and pay the $150 fine. Worth it.
98mph in a 70mph charged with reckless driving and resisting arrest but didn't get arrested everything got dropped except the speeding fine which was reduced
Buddy of mine is active duty military, he was taking leave to go home for a couple of days since he was only 3 hours away. He had just bought a 2011 Chevy Z06 and was still in that "gotta put it through its paces" phase of car buying. Well he decided to do a pull going over a bridge(bad idea to begin with) and to his surprise cop with a laser was waiting on the other side. Cop tagged him going 114 but he says he was going 125. He ended up getting the fastest speeding ticket for the county for last year, put in jail and had to bail himself out. $1800 later his speeding ticket got reduced to a reckless driving, his driver history was saved but not his military career after that.
The worst situation I faced as far as speeding goes was in a 1993 DA Integra with a swapped GSR motor on an ebay turbo kit, pretty much equivalent to a GT2860. Car wasn't tuned, doubt it made even 300whp and ran rich as hell but it was fast enough for a 20 year old. Not only was the car painted phoenix yellow, it also ran pretty much an open downpipe when this happened. Needless to say it attracted the wrong kind of attention. Was coming back from a movie, on the highway, came across someone in a fox body mustang and he started revving at me so I downshift into 3rd and rip it. Pretty much went to about 110-120 before I backed out of it. Literally like 2 seconds after I let off, I coasted by a state trooper hidden on this little off-shoot dirt road going into a farm or something, he was hidden by a little hill and you couldn't see him until it was too late basically. Great spot to sit. He had to have heard me coming and I was doing at least 90-95(in a 55)when I passed him, with not a lot of other cars on the road to blend in with. Thankfully, the mustang never went with me. That ended up saving my ass. Pulls me over. Comes to the window, asks me why he pulled me over, I say no officer and he askes me to get out of the car. After a little bit of an ass chewing, he goes back to the car and I'm sitting there for at least 10 minutes before another 2 police cars pull up behind him. Sat there for another 15 minutes at least before he told me to go back to my car, leave the keys out of the ignition and basically "hang out". End of the story, I got a pretty stern warning and a fix-it ticket for the exhaust. For which as he walked away from the car he proceeded to tell me and I quote "Fix that fucking weedwacker muffler and have a nice day sir. I don't want to see you around here again tonight." Had that mustang went with me and he had probable cause to assume we were racing, and had my license not been clean up until that point, I would've been making a phone call home at 2am. That is the worst thing I've gotten pulled over for and yet I've gotten even more chewed out and not given simple warnings for far more minor infractions like tints or even following a cop too closely, etc. Some cops have no chill and others really just want you to be safe. It's like flipping a coin where I'm from.
I got pulled over my Florida highway patrol near Orlando. I got a ticket for about $350ish dollars for 3 or 4 points, this was like 15 years ago. I was clocked at 125 mph in a 75. I was told I could be arrested for it if they wanted to take me. I was actually doing 150ish, they got me after I spotted them and was slowly down.
I got pulled over for going 114 in a 70 in Missouri. Over worked at a job I hated and “love of my life” broke up with me and I just wanted to go home and lay down. Now I have a different job and no longer have that vehicle and have moved on with my life butttt the case has been going on for over a year now and was at the peak of covid so I guess that keeps getting it pushed off. I’d kill to have this dismissed because I drive for a living and this can’t be on my record.
Got a 105 in a 55 eventually, cop made me feel like a criminal murder mastermind. I just sped up for a moment. It was really uneventful all around, I had to hire a lawyer obviously. Eventually it got lowered to a lesser offense. What a waste of time and stress all around.
I feel the same way. I wasn't going that fast. I was going about 85 or 80 in a 70, the cop said I was going 90. And it was very short, if I was going that fast. Monitoring your speed constantly at highway speeds is actually more dangerous than going a little fast... In my state they have a "Super Speeder" law. I want to deal with it now, but I have to wait months, or pay the fee online and probably have my insurance go up. I don't have a lot of money, so a lawyer sounds like a lot. The police are great when someone's doing a serious crime. Otherwise I'm sure everyone feels that nervous feeling when a cop is around.
Got caught slowing down at 120 in a 65 when I was 17, got a FAT ticket, had to appear, hired a lawyer who talked it down to 80, which is still bad, but didn’t lose my license. Paid the ticket and the court costs, never got a bill from the lawyer 🤷♀️
@@peterhardyburrell I just got an 85 in a 70 in Ohio last Friday (3/11), and I’m a resident of CT with 2 BS moving violations on my record (rolling stop in 2019 and 17 over in January 2022) and the 3rd offense you lose your license for 30 days. So I’m gonna lose my license over things 99% of drivers have done before while people get warnings for 50 over. It’s all luck man
@@chuckyboy1217 oh for sure it’s based solely on how the judge/prosecutor feels. I have a CDL now, so my cruise stays at no more than 5 over on the highway and I stick hard and fast to residential limits
@@edgarj415 I had a e46 m3 turbocharged pushing 22lbs of boost. I don’t ask anyone to believe me. I don’t really care. I went through that experience and I was happy to walk away with freedom and my car. If you can’t afford it don’t talk down on other people.
I got a 90 in a 50 ticket in September 2019. I had to show up in court and got two points added on my driver's license. It wasn't even worth it to get a traffic lawyer so now I'm trying not to get another ticket until September 2021 so the points get deleted off my record.
Over here in New Zealand, I was in a car with a mate who got pulled over for doing 165kmh in a 30 (don't ask me why he stopped). Unfortunately, because it was his 5th or so time he got caught for going a crazy amount over the limit the judge took his license off him permanently and he had his car crushed.
Yeah I most definitely got a 107 mph ticket. Never even stepped out of the car and he sent me on my way with the biggest ticket I've ever had. Honestly I was going much faster so he really did me a huge favor. Fought it as much as I could but still ended up with a $750 ticket 2 points and a misdemeanor. Couldn't believe I didn't go to jail. I'm just lucky he didn't radar me. Respect and just taking the L goes a long way😂
I got nailed racing my modified Accord against a Porsche Boxer a few years ago. The cop said he clocked us at 125 in a 65mph. Thank god that’s when we were slowing down from 155ish. We were jailed on wreckless driving, 125 in 65 ticket and racing charge. I was able to get my speeding ticket and the wreckless driving thrown out because I contested it on the grounds the cop couldn’t tell which car his radar locked on and he was trying to ticket us both off of one reading. The racing charge stuck because I slipped and admitted to racing without thinking. I sold that Accord a few days later and got an M3.
I drove through the Seattle expressway tunnels stoned on acid at 130mph in a 67 327 Camaro (It was like THX1138) at 3am in the morning going back home to Vancouver BC from the Puyallup Drag races in my younger days - glad I didn't get pulled over :)
About 2 years ago me and my buddy were driving home from work around 11:30pm the roads were empty, both of us were merging onto another highway at around 85mph we didn't see the undercover cop in the distance so we ended up getting up to around 120-130mph and stayed at that speed for about 5-6 miles. We finally slowed down to around 90-100 after that(speed limit was 55) at that point I see a car coming up fairly quickly and we switch lanes(without using turn signals) and then the flashing lights came on, my heart sank and I thought to myself well I'm going to jail tonight. My buddy decides to just take off and keep on going, and I was about to also but decided to turn on my signal and pull over. I get pulled over and I'm freaking out on the inside like welp I'm going to jail and my car is gonna get towed, the cop comes up to my car asks for all the paper work I give it to him he walks back to patrol car. Then about 20 minutes later comes back and asks how fast I was going I replied with "I wasn't really paying attention to my speed" he then says "well I had to get to about 120 to catch up to you guys" my response was "oh sorry". Basically told me how he could tow my car and if I ever had any other tickets before I told him no(This was my very first ticket in like 7-8 years of driving), then goes back to his car again this time bringing back the ticket and says "slow down from now on and use your blinker when changing lanes". I take a look at ticket it was for careless driving due to improper lane change. Went to court got it reduced and the ticket got dropped off my record 12 months later. Since then don't speed very often at all anymore.
I’m watching this while waiting for my court case in twenty minutes because I got caught going 98 in a 70 and I was worried because it was reckless. I’m in Virginia. As soon as he mentioned how bad Virginia is I melted
😂😂😂, as someone who does a lot of rallies I feel bad when it’s always the slowest guy that gets the ticket, and they get the most upset. We all know if Matt got this ticket he would drive as fast as possible to catch up the group after being let go.
Pulled over in nc also in February for 103/65. Speeding charge thrown out. Prayer of judgement on reckless driving. This was after a previous speeding ticket in November which was no points.
I got a 104/70 in NC and I’m hoping it doesn’t end bad.😭 first ticket/anything that has happened to me like this. And I’m getting a lawyer. Honestly scared. Lol
I got arrested 2 years ago for 130 In a 55 lol. I was in my E550 coupe, will never forget that day. He told me he was taking me to jail for speeding and I looked at him like he was on crack 😂 i’ve never heard of somebody going to jail for speeding until that point, and I’ve been pulled over 20+ times lol. Best part about it was Covid hit a few months later, pushed everything back and my lawyer eventually got it completely dismissed. No fine, court costs, points... nothing. The week everything shut down I was supposed to go to court and explain to the judge why I was speeding and why I should keep my license. Lmao. I lucked out!!!
@@fitz9806 well, it was actually easier than I thought. Lawyer explained some things to me. Luckily, The first thing I said to the officer to explain I was speeding was “my wife is PISSED at me, I’m sorry I was just trying to get home to calm her down because I was late already and she’s called me yelling several times” So that was my very poor, but valid excuse. He took my license (which was on my phone) and when I handed him my phone she started blowing me up asking me why I wasn’t answering the phone and where I was and why I wasn’t home already. It’s funny because it’s all on his body cam footage. anyways he goes to his car and runs my stuff and calls his sergeant and asked his sergeant if he should take me to jail and he said “ this dude has like 20 tickets as much as as I don’t want to take in to jail I think it’ll teach him a lesson” The only reason I went to jail was because of his discretion in teaching me a lesson. I own a business here in Louisville and at the time I lived an hour away from my shop. And I frequently travel for jobs. I’m a sole proprietor with no employees (no other help) I was simply going to go in and explain how I needed my license for work purposes. My lawyer said he’s never seen that fail in his 40 years of experience As long as it’s valid. And I was also going to offer the judge a 2 year probationary period instead of license getting revoked, if all else failed. As corny as it is to say, money can solves a lot of issue in the courtroom. Get a good lawyer.
@@boonamai8926 that is true. I live 14 miles from work, no traffic, no speed limit. Traffic is always going the other direction. Doesn’t get any better than that for fast driving.
Yeah totally, like you'd think speeding is like playing Russian Roulette with your car. Meanwhile this is a country where if you look funny at someone having a bad day you chance getting your skull blown off by a handgun. Where is the real risk to public safety? Not surprising Qanon does so well here
I got pulled over for doing 164km/h ( 102mph ) on a 80km/h zone ( 50 mph ) My license was suspended for 7months, I got a total of 610€ ( 730$ ) in fines, and had to take a risk counselling course (+150€ / +180$ on top of the other fine) So, was it worth it? Actually yes.
Go interview Chris Garza, the Hellcat owner who got clocked at 158 going down the Indiana Toll Road at night no less. Car and license taken away and jailed. Said it was totally worth it.
Got pulled over for 1mph over outside of Eden Texas, hand over my colorado driver's licence and I'm getting pulled out of my rental and it's being torn apart and searched, two hours later after getting chewed out for being from colorado, I'm headed back on my way north. Thought I left that bullcrap behind in Virginia.
I jumped into the comments just to look for a 1 MPH over in Texas story. I've heard stories from friends from Texas; and also heard that the rural counties are the worst for it.
@ch h that's why I left central Colorado, all the coastal effluent washed up there got on all the town/city councils and made life unaffordable for everyone but themselves and called it 'progress'. Can't wait to finish balling up what little is left of my business up there and get out before they start eating each other when they see noone wants to support their existence there because noone can reach the front doors of their ivory towers.

401 in Ontario, Canada,,,,,, straight, flat, a near perfect piece of road for 500 miles,,,,, For some reason also a killer,, perhaps from boredom? So,,,, Ontario got tired of picking up burned body parts and the new speeding fines can be eye watering. 10,000 dollars and loss of license,,, AND loss of car. ON THE SPOT. You walk home.
Yeah, I didn't quite understand that. In my state (Ohio), all traffic tickets are misdemeanors, and I presume it's the same for other states. I mean, if you break the law, any law, you either committed a misdemeanor or a felony. I'm no lawyer, but I believe those are the only two main classifications. Now, if he committed a felony, that's something different, and very bad. But that's not what happened here.
I got caught doing 137 in a 55mph zone. GST Eclipse. First time I ever went to jail. Car went to jail. Best friend and his car went to jail too. Great memories!
I closed tonight at my job, me and the manager had a little drag race down 601. It was about 1:40am so the roads were clear, and no cops in sight. Boss man went ahead and I followed, we’re in a 50 going about 80-85, he kicks it up a little, and I see the dotted line and floored it, went right around him about 105 in my 2007 eclipse. So lucky there weren’t any cops, because during the day there’s a ton of cops along that road. Got lucky.
101 in a 55 in ny. 17 years old when it happened a few months ago. Court date still coming up but so far its costed thousands for a lawyer. 11 points on my license for 1 violation. As of right now i have to complete a defensive driving course before court🤦♂️. Thankfully the cop didnt tow my shit and arrest me but cmon there wasnt a single car on the road…
Jesus. As a non-American, I find these speeding stories to be really weird. I mean, for a nation that boasts to be the "land of the free," you guys are scared of going to *jail* for speeding? Really? Jail? When you haven't hurt anyone? Absolutely shocking to me.
this just makes me hate the justice system exponentially more than before. the law should be fair and equal for everyone and this just further proves that the right lawyer/prosecutor is the difference between 2 drastically different penalties.
Who stops if you're already going 100+, if they at a full stop or opposite direction by the time the hit 100 your already 1 whole mile away from them. Also you are probably going even faster cause that pedal got even heavier.
Your math is off. Even at 120 mph it takes 30 seconds per mile, any cop car can pull that in under half the time. Opposite direction you have a better chance.
I've had many instances of passing cops at 100+ and the few times I have stopped there were no tickets issued. Once was on a motorcycle and I passed him cresting a hill on a country road. Saw him turn around and I could have easily ran but instead I took a left at the 4-way stop and pulled to the side. Soon as I did there was another cop coming from the road I turned onto and the other cop had already made it to the intersection. I just turned my bike off and tossed my backpack full of guns to the side and proceeded to be very polite and compliant. Cop ran my info and came back with a warning and thanked me for pulling over because most bikes don't. Being polite goes a long way but so does choosing smart locations to be wild.
I got a ticked for 123 in a 65. Same cop that pulled me over a year prior and gave me a warning, on the exact same spot on the same road. He used to have the same bike, and enjoyed talking about it. Said he couldn’t repeat the warning this time, and Informed me the differences of speeding vs reckless driving and how to avoid the ladder. It’s good to be white!
I think my best/worst ticket ever was in Texas. Just past Huston headed to Corpus Christi in the late 90’s. Was about 1am and didn’t realize there were small towns that forced the speed down from 65 to 25. At any rate, I passed an officer that was off the side doing 120 in a 25. Thankfully, I got the nicest ticket ever. 95 over, no court, no points, just a $225 fine. I paid it the next day!
I go to court in a couple hours for 111mph in a 55mph. Cop was shaking pissed, but not very intelligent and took it to heart when I told him to hurry up because I obviously don't got time to waste! I was outta there in 10 minutes, quickest stop ever. Pleading not guilty.
No ticket?

Many moons ago I was out rippin my 92 camaro on a country road and passed a cop at 110+. Didn't realize it was a cop until 10 minutes later when he caught up to me. Needless to say he was pissed, took my info and went to write me a ticket. Came back in about 1-2 minutes and said "it's your lucky day kid, I have a more important call to go to"... "Oh, and I called your dad". Turned out it wasn't my lucky day because my old man was this cops DS in the Army. Would have preferred the ticket but that rip was worth it.
Lol Great story.

I believe you should only get a ticket if you are wreckless ... If no one got hurt or had the possibility of getting hurt, you should be let go.

You should have forced his hand...
I'm not sure how perjury works for speeding tickets. Once had a ticket where cop wrote "actual speed" and 'ticketed speed" I have a feeling if I went to court the judge would throw the book at me, paid the ticket.

how did it go bro
That's crazy. One time I was stopped for allegedly doing 45 over in a 55. Cop wrote me a ticket for 100/55 and sent me on my way. Called the court a few days later and scheduled a Civil Infraction Conference. Showed up and was handed a paper saying that they'd drop it to Double Parking (no points, doesn't go on your record), I just had to sign saying I agreed to have it dropped to Double Parking and pay the $150 fine. Worth it.

Literally what happened to me as well

I just turned my bike off and tossed my backpack full of guns to the side and proceeded to be very polite and compliant.
