- In Borderlands, your Hub world is important. It's going to be where you spend the most time in the game, so it's important to get it right. This video is about what my dream hub world would be in a Borderlands game.

What's your favourite Borderlands Hub World? I'm a Concordia guy, myself.
bl2 sanctuary, the urban city with the big... thing in the middle like a obelisk brings back good memories for me :)
Definitely Concordia. The low gravity helps when it comes to traveling around it too.

Honestly, playing poker or blackjack in Moxxi’s bar would be so much fun if you could play it with both NPC’s and even other players.

In doom eternal, they have an area on the hub called the ripatorium. It was a small arena where you can just fight demons and practice. After you are done you gain back all you ammo for you guns and super weapons. If they did something similar where you can test guns/builds and no lose resources like money or ammo would be nice

Great video, Cashew! Yeah, BL3 definitely did the vehicles better. And yes, getting all the skins is annoying. At least make them all farm-able. There are skins I'm just now getting in the various games, 10+ years later. Hub world's are awesome. TPS had Concordia. It didn't feel like your home, but it was done well. Just wish it was a little bigger with a section that was YOUR own. Bl3s customizable rooms are a big plus for me. I really hope they flesh that out some more. But the HUB has to set the tone for the game. If it's dirty and filthy or is it clean and upscale. You know what I mean? New Haven did good by setting the tone for the rest of the game. You spend a lot of time getting there in your first play-through and when you think your going to a "Haven" it's just as dilapidated as the rest of the world with a small sense of hope, provided by the NPCs that inhabit the town.
Yeah def agree! Also Concordia did have a room for the player in the bank, it was just never used or given any reason to go in. It's down the hall from the bank, kinda threw me for a loop when I first found it lol

the bank thing being a pain to sort was really only a problem coz of annoitments locking some guns to be only usable by some characters. Once they remove tht hopefully it wont be an issue. Your ideas are all great tho. Hopefully sanctuary 4 would be the best hub yet

Oh, mnm, oh. This is a lot of ideas that are really neat on paper, but I can see development time just evaporating into uselessness at some of them. Gunpedia sounds neat and all, but unless we can tinker around with parts and such to theorycraft, it's not going to replace Lootlemon. The rest of the gun shop ideas sound alright, nothing that wows me. Wonderlands made me realize we don't need cars, at all. They're just distracting from running and gunning. Moxxi's as a minigame hub sounds OK, who uses slot machines? Now extrapolate that to all the other potential minigames, unless they offered Borderlands Science tier boosts. Your idea for a hotel sounds OK, but like, Borderlands 3 already did that with the other "empty" rooms would have your coop players rooms to scamper in. Bank, I also want to fix, but my only idea is like..."folders" of guns/gun types to cut down on the wall of information presented? A search bar...?
I think that the gun-o-pedia could work better then lootlemon if implemented properly, allowing theory crafting but mainly being able to see drop rates and where certain guns drop after you discover them, carrying over to each new character you make. As for who uses slot machines? an alarming amount of people lmao, I got my first ever legendary and pearl from slot machines lmao. Not even to say that they're used that much, but it's just fun to have stuff to fuck around with in hubs. I feel that heads/skins, or like you said, Borderlands Science esc buffs would be the reward for these.

An actual idea I just had, cribbing from Grim Dawn as usual, vendors/crafters that specialize or give bonuses when using them. In Grim Dawn, they're actually pretty minor bonuses like +2-4% fire damage, resistance, etc, unless you're min-maxing that hard. But for Borderlands, the idea of having a vendor that specializes in "Here's guns that rolled with a focus on accuracy!" another with big mag size types, elemental chance etc is very tempting. Sure, a few vendors will outshine others, but having a person you can go up to and say "I need to shoot this Rakk from a quarter mile away, what do you have that fire rate guy won't?" is fun and would encourage running around.
Another steal it from Grim Dawn idea is, give every major planet it's own, somewhat identical functioning, yet stylized hub. While the crafting and vendors are different from area to area in Grim Dawn, switching between them is pretty painless. Probably totally unfeasible with Borderlands's loading.
Honestly I like all of these mechanics for special challenges and role play runs. Being a role play nerd I love playing games like this to do role play and all the small things make it that much more enjoyable.
I may be a challenge run player and a build crafter, but I enjoy role play stuff in these games as well. The only game I have more hours in than any of the borderlands games is Skyrim. 11k hours... More than all five games for me. All the small things go burr
You know what BL 4 should have? Make Ellie or whoever your custom garage there you have the ability to change out car parts and customization same goes with your weapons
They actually did that in bl3 lol. For cars not weapons
